Terry Matthews pulls together a consortium to buy | :00:10. | :00:11.
The fact is you first put a really good team together, then | :00:12. | :00:19.
you fight in an area which has upside, so I am feeling pretty good | :00:20. | :00:22.
Former Wales international footballer Ched Evans | :00:23. | :00:39.
wins an appeal against his rape conviction. | :00:40. | :00:40.
against teacher workload and plans to reorganise | :00:41. | :00:48.
We are in Beaumaris on Anglesey overlooking the Menai Strait. North | :00:49. | :01:09.
Wales has always played a big part in generating electricity for our | :01:10. | :01:11.
homes but will it continue to do so in the future? | :01:12. | :01:14.
And we'll be hearing from the 'ladies in pinc' helping | :01:15. | :01:16.
the Queen celebrate her 90th birthday at Windsor Castle. | :01:17. | :01:19.
And from 90-year-old William Griffiths who remembers | :01:20. | :01:21.
meeting Her Majesty on previous birthdays. | :01:22. | :01:26.
I said I don't mean to be impertinent or rude or | :01:27. | :01:29.
anything towards you, but I am not sure if there is ten | :01:30. | :01:32.
minutes between this, if you are ten minutes older | :01:33. | :01:34.
than me or if I am ten minutes older than you. | :01:35. | :01:41.
A Welsh consortium, involving billionaire Sir Terry Matthews, | :01:42. | :01:46.
that's hoping to take over Tata UK, has welcomed news that the UK | :01:47. | :01:49.
government is prepared to consider taking a 25% stake in the business. | :01:50. | :01:52.
The group, which brings together people in the public | :01:53. | :01:54.
and private sector in Wales, along with Steel managers and unions | :01:55. | :01:57.
is adamant it can keep the blast furnaces making steel. | :01:58. | :01:59.
Here's our Economics Correspondent, Sarah Dickins. | :02:00. | :02:15.
While steel dominates the landscape around Port Talbot, its role in the | :02:16. | :02:22.
economy has lessened and appears to be seriously under threat. But now | :02:23. | :02:25.
in a move not seen for decades, the UK Government says it would consider | :02:26. | :02:31.
taking a 25% stake in it and is offering millions of pounds as loans | :02:32. | :02:36.
on a commercial basis. It came just hours after billionaire Sir Terry | :02:37. | :02:39.
Matthews entered the frame, part of a Welsh team working to take over. | :02:40. | :02:46.
Are you the bankroll? It has not come to that yet. But it might. If | :02:47. | :02:52.
it makes sensible business and the future looks good, frankly, there | :02:53. | :02:55.
will be investors and we already know it. So if the board in Mumbai | :02:56. | :03:04.
rejected the turnaround plan, why does this Welsh consortium think | :03:05. | :03:07.
there is a future? It is led by Roger Max, with years of experience | :03:08. | :03:14.
in steel and venture capital. He has read the plan and is bringing | :03:15. | :03:17.
together experts with one objective. Tell us how we can make the | :03:18. | :03:21.
greenest, cheapest stealing the world. That is a plan. That is a | :03:22. | :03:27.
vision and that is something people will invest in. We do not have it | :03:28. | :03:31.
today but what the bridge does for me is by sis the time to come up | :03:32. | :03:35.
with that vision, it should not buy is the time to go back to being the | :03:36. | :03:42.
old Port Talbot. Today the government offered hundreds of | :03:43. | :03:44.
millions of pounds to make the takeover more attractive to | :03:45. | :03:49.
investors. They will now be able to see the numbers the government has | :03:50. | :03:52.
made available. It is following a process. The fact the UK Government | :03:53. | :03:55.
disease and considering as an option taking a 25% stake in Tatas UK | :03:56. | :04:01.
operations is success -- significant. Workers would not have | :04:02. | :04:05.
dreamt that a few months ago. It is clear there are hundreds of millions | :04:06. | :04:08.
of pounds available on the table a commercial rate. And also as well is | :04:09. | :04:11.
that, the Welsh Government would be able to top up, perhaps helping with | :04:12. | :04:16.
something like research and development or development of a new | :04:17. | :04:19.
power plant. This story is moving very fast and there are interesting | :04:20. | :04:23.
talks taking place here at the Celtic Manor. So what is the Welsh | :04:24. | :04:28.
consortium think of the latest move from the UK Government? A couple of | :04:29. | :04:33.
hours ago, I was trying not to use the word confidence. It is | :04:34. | :04:39.
determination. Just as determined, much more confident. And tonight | :04:40. | :04:44.
unions are updating workers at Port Talbot about the latest developers. | :04:45. | :04:47.
-- developments. So, how much closer | :04:48. | :04:49.
are we realistically There is a long way to go, a lot of | :04:50. | :04:58.
detail, more people to be brought on board in terms of that consortium. | :04:59. | :05:00.
They hope to have people advising them on the search -- research and | :05:01. | :05:05.
development and economic sand or things like that. I would say we are | :05:06. | :05:10.
much closer than we were a week at -- a week ago. And that vision looks | :05:11. | :05:14.
much more likely than it did a week ago. That money from the UK | :05:15. | :05:19.
Government, hundreds of millions of pounds promised on a commercial loan | :05:20. | :05:23.
basis or a 25% stake, that really makes a difference, not only because | :05:24. | :05:27.
of the mini itself but also that gives a level of confidence that | :05:28. | :05:30.
will make it easier for this consortium to go to other people for | :05:31. | :05:35.
instant in the private sector and say the government back says, will | :05:36. | :05:38.
you back is too? And that is really important. Also Roger Maggs has | :05:39. | :05:44.
looked through the plan that went on by and he doesn't think at the | :05:45. | :05:47.
finances are as bad at Port Talbot as many of us have thought for some | :05:48. | :05:48.
time. Former Wales international | :05:49. | :05:51.
footballer Ched Evans has had his conviction for rape quashed | :05:52. | :05:52.
by the Court of Appeal. He's always maintained his | :05:53. | :05:55.
innocence, but will have He was released from jail in 2014 | :05:56. | :05:57.
after serving half his sentence for the rape of a 19-year-old woman | :05:58. | :06:01.
at a hotel near Rhyl. Paul Heaney reports | :06:02. | :06:04.
from the Royal Courts Leaving court no longer a convicted | :06:05. | :06:05.
rapist, Ched Evans always maintained his innocence | :06:06. | :06:13.
but he will have On the basis that relevant | :06:14. | :06:14.
and admissible evidence has come to light that was not available | :06:15. | :06:22.
at the trial and that undermines the safety of his conviction, | :06:23. | :06:24.
we have concluded that we must allow the appeal and that it is in | :06:25. | :06:27.
the interests of justice A short statement read on his behalf | :06:28. | :06:30.
thanked his supporters Ched Evans is extremely grateful | :06:31. | :06:39.
for the Court of Appeal has ruled that his conviction for rape | :06:40. | :06:45.
was unsafe and should be quashed. He was a promising striker, | :06:46. | :06:48.
a record ?3 million signing for Sheffield United, called up | :06:49. | :06:57.
to the Wales squad in 2008. A night out in Rhyl in 2011 | :06:58. | :06:59.
would change everything. Fellow footballer Clayton McDonald | :07:00. | :07:03.
went back to a hotel to have sex Evans diverted his cab home to join | :07:04. | :07:06.
them and also had sex with her. In April 2012, a jury cleared | :07:07. | :07:11.
McDonald of rape but Ched Evans The jury decided while she was able | :07:12. | :07:14.
to consent to having sex with his friend, she was later | :07:15. | :07:18.
too drunk to be able There was outrage from | :07:19. | :07:21.
Ched Evans' supporters. Nine people were fined for breaking | :07:22. | :07:23.
the law by naming the woman online. He had served half of | :07:24. | :07:27.
a five-year prison sentence. Athletics star Jessica Ennis-Hill | :07:28. | :07:30.
threatened to pull her support from Sheffield United | :07:31. | :07:32.
if they allowed him to play again. Pressure from club sponsors stopped | :07:33. | :07:34.
Oldham Athletic from signing him. But after a ten month investigation | :07:35. | :07:37.
in to new evidence, he was allowed to appeal the conviction he had | :07:38. | :07:41.
always maintained was wrong. New information had come to light | :07:42. | :07:43.
since his conviction. It has been four years | :07:44. | :07:46.
since Ched Evans was convicted and sent to jail but today, | :07:47. | :07:48.
he left this court an innocent So what was it about this | :07:49. | :07:51.
new information, this new evidence which allowed his appeal to be | :07:52. | :07:55.
upheld here today? Well, none of the detail of that | :07:56. | :07:57.
new evidence can be broadcast at the moment because it could | :07:58. | :08:00.
affect the retrial of Ched Evans, which was also ordered | :08:01. | :08:02.
in court today. We are expected to find out | :08:03. | :08:04.
when that court case might take race A man from Aberdeen, | :08:05. | :08:07.
who was allegedly bought by a man from Cardiff and forced to do hard | :08:08. | :08:34.
labour for nearly 30 years, has said he was forced | :08:35. | :08:37.
to live in a wooden shed. Four men from Cardiff are accused | :08:38. | :08:39.
of forcing two men to live in appalling conditions and to work | :08:40. | :08:42.
for as little as ?5 a day. ?30 million worth of bankers | :08:43. | :08:52.
drafts have been found, in the 'biggest ever' seizure | :08:53. | :08:54.
from an organised crime network. A 58-year-old man was arrested | :08:55. | :08:57.
in a raid in Bridgend on suspicion of money laundering after the City | :08:58. | :08:59.
of London Police launched It is believed the cash was made | :09:00. | :09:02.
from a global organised She's our longest reigning monarch | :09:03. | :09:05.
and today, events have been taking place across Wales | :09:06. | :09:12.
to celebrate Her Majesty She first visited here as sovereign | :09:13. | :09:14.
in 1953, just weeks after her coronation, | :09:15. | :09:18.
and today people of all ages, all over Wales, have been | :09:19. | :09:20.
celebrating the Royal birthday, The Queen's birthday celebrations | :09:21. | :09:22.
began bright and early at this By nine o'clock, 200 pupils had | :09:23. | :09:34.
gathered for a morning In the assembly hall, | :09:35. | :09:37.
each child was presented with a commemorative coin, | :09:38. | :09:42.
then it was back out Here in Abergavenny, | :09:43. | :09:44.
primary schoolchildren are proudly It is their way of saying happy | :09:45. | :09:51.
birthday to the Queen. It is just amazing that she can | :09:52. | :09:58.
handle all the responsibilities If she has made it to the age of 90, | :09:59. | :10:01.
why can't she make it July the 9th 1953, the Queens first | :10:02. | :10:06.
official visit to Wales In Cardiff, there was pomp | :10:07. | :10:14.
and pageantry and so it was today A 21 gun salute at noon | :10:15. | :10:18.
marking Her Majesty's 90th birthday. It is a commemoration that also | :10:19. | :10:21.
looms large quite Businessmen David Pickering | :10:22. | :10:23.
is using the grounds of his home to display 40 sculptures | :10:24. | :10:27.
of the Queen alongside some Loading these figures proved | :10:28. | :10:29.
a colossal challenge. The thing about giants, | :10:30. | :10:43.
by definition, is that they are big. And the big problem | :10:44. | :10:46.
is because they are big, they cost a lot of money | :10:47. | :10:48.
and they need a lot In Windsor, it was giant balloons | :10:49. | :10:51.
that greeted the Queen Judy and Anne from Cardiff | :10:52. | :10:55.
hoped Her Majesty would take one In fact, a little earlier, | :10:56. | :10:58.
the sisters had lost one of those balloons and had to find | :10:59. | :11:06.
a last-minute replacement. I ran after it and fortunately | :11:07. | :11:16.
all the children enjoyed it. It might even be on Her | :11:17. | :11:22.
Majesty's doorstep. In Merthyr Tydfil, | :11:23. | :11:27.
William Griffiths is having It is his 90th birthday today | :11:28. | :11:29.
and he is spending it Sharing his birthday | :11:30. | :11:35.
with the Queen has its perks. He receives letters from Her Majesty | :11:36. | :11:39.
and invites to Buckingham Palace. The last time he was there, | :11:40. | :11:41.
he challenged the Queen I said, I do not wish | :11:42. | :11:44.
to be impertinent or rude towards you in any way, I said, | :11:45. | :11:55.
I am not certain, I says, are you ten minutes older than me | :11:56. | :11:58.
or are my ten minutes And she said, I will have | :11:59. | :12:01.
to check the books. As Britain's longest raining | :12:02. | :12:10.
monarch, the Queen has been present at many of the milestones | :12:11. | :12:18.
in Wales' post-war history. Wales in turn will be celebrating | :12:19. | :12:20.
well into the night when beacons will be lit across the country | :12:21. | :12:23.
to mark this special day. We are in Beaumaris on Anglesey on | :12:24. | :12:47.
the Menai Straits. Tonight we are looking at the role North Wales | :12:48. | :12:50.
Police in generating electricity for our homes. | :12:51. | :12:53.
And she's dreamt of this moment her whole life. | :12:54. | :12:55.
Teenager Chloe Tutton, one of four Welsh swimmers | :12:56. | :12:57.
Around 150 teachers, parents and pupils marched | :12:58. | :13:03.
from Llandrindod High School to Powys Council's | :13:04. | :13:05.
The demonstration was organised by the teaching union, | :13:06. | :13:07.
NUT Cymru as a protest, over what union members say | :13:08. | :13:10.
is an excessive workload for teachers. | :13:11. | :13:11.
Many people are also angry about a proposed shake-up of | :13:12. | :13:14.
On the march with a clear list of demands. Today the branch along with | :13:15. | :13:35.
pupils and parents gathered in Llandrindod Wells to protest over | :13:36. | :13:39.
teacher workloads and proposed changes to in broth schools in the | :13:40. | :13:44.
county, including closures and outsourcing of sixth form education. | :13:45. | :13:47.
I have never known as take a strike and so many parents be behind us. | :13:48. | :13:52.
Some of the children in my class wanted to come along bit it was not | :13:53. | :13:56.
feasible. I have never known such support from the community and | :13:57. | :13:59.
actually from the headteachers who find it may -- difficult to make a | :14:00. | :14:05.
decision on closing schools. Nobody from the council was available for | :14:06. | :14:08.
an interview today but it said it was disappointing that the LUT chose | :14:09. | :14:12.
to take action so close to the end of year exam period. In part of this | :14:13. | :14:18.
county, there is concern for the future of secondary education. The | :14:19. | :14:21.
council says because of the hyena Brough surplus school places, it is | :14:22. | :14:25.
proposing to close for comprehensives and to open a new | :14:26. | :14:29.
school in mid Powys and another in the south. Many committees have | :14:30. | :14:33.
forged strong opposition to these plans. But opposition is no more | :14:34. | :14:36.
evident than in communities that -- around this high school near Hay on | :14:37. | :14:41.
Wye. Last night around 800 people turned out that a heated public | :14:42. | :14:46.
meeting to voice their opinions on plans to close the school next year | :14:47. | :14:52.
and move children to a news: Brecon. The school should stay open. I think | :14:53. | :14:57.
it would separate a lot of our French groups. A lot of people from | :14:58. | :15:02.
different areas, they would go to Hereford. It is nice keeping | :15:03. | :15:09.
everyone together. The council says it has to create larger schools so | :15:10. | :15:12.
it can secure more funding to offer a greater subject choice and to | :15:13. | :15:17.
drive up standards. But it is clear implement in such major changes may | :15:18. | :15:19.
take a lot more convincing. Young musicians and their parents | :15:20. | :15:28.
staged a silent protest this afternoon in Swansea as the council | :15:29. | :15:34.
's cabinet agreed to end its use it service partnership with Neath Port | :15:35. | :15:38.
Talbot. The council says all learners will continue to have | :15:39. | :15:41.
access to high-quality music support but concerns remain among | :15:42. | :15:44.
campaigners against the move. The Council are not offering a cheaper | :15:45. | :15:49.
offer. They have just up the cost to schools directly. The only | :15:50. | :15:52.
alternative that would make it cheaper would-be private companies | :15:53. | :15:55.
who could not offer the same kind of quality that is being delivered by | :15:56. | :16:01.
the current staff. We know that the music service as currently provided | :16:02. | :16:04.
is becoming more expensive for schools, so what we want to do is to | :16:05. | :16:07.
make sure that any money we put in as an authority and any money that | :16:08. | :16:12.
comes in, that money is understood and is used to make sure that the | :16:13. | :16:15.
services delivered in the best possible way. | :16:16. | :16:16.
We're travelling all over Wales in the run-up | :16:17. | :16:18.
to the Assembly Election, which takes place two weeks today, | :16:19. | :16:21.
finding out about the issues that matter to you before we go | :16:22. | :16:24.
Good evening and welcome to Beaumaris on the Menai Strait. The | :16:25. | :16:37.
fourth stop on our tour. We are in Plaid Cymru territory here. Further | :16:38. | :16:50.
along the coast, last time, voters returned a conservative semi-member | :16:51. | :16:54.
and MP with a slim majority. There is everything to play for come this | :16:55. | :16:58.
election. And right across this region. I have spent the day here | :16:59. | :17:02.
and I have been talking to people about the issues that matter to | :17:03. | :17:06.
them. They talk about health, transport, schools and energy | :17:07. | :17:10.
projects. Anglesey of course often described as energy Ireland. North | :17:11. | :17:15.
Wales has always played a huge part in generating electricity for our | :17:16. | :17:16.
homes. Experts say energy will be one | :17:17. | :17:20.
of the biggest issues facing the next Welsh Government, | :17:21. | :17:23.
whoever you elect. Our Environment Correspondent | :17:24. | :17:25.
Steffan Messenger has more. The potential for generating | :17:26. | :17:31.
electricity here is huge. Inland, hills and mountains offer | :17:32. | :17:35.
height to help harness the power This new hydro scheme | :17:36. | :17:37.
near Abergwyngregyn in Gwynedd You have got a pipe that | :17:38. | :17:40.
comes down the mountain, the water in that pipe goes | :17:41. | :17:44.
to a generator which It is enough electricity | :17:45. | :17:47.
to supply 250 houses. Whoever is in power after May 's | :17:48. | :17:54.
election will have more they say than ever before when comes | :17:55. | :18:03.
to deciding what sorts of energy schemes we should be | :18:04. | :18:05.
focusing on in Wales. The UK Government is set to hand | :18:06. | :18:07.
down powers of consent for major That will include large onshore wind | :18:08. | :18:10.
farms and tidal lagoons. But control over the national grid | :18:11. | :18:15.
infrastructure that delivers power to our homes | :18:16. | :18:17.
as well as the subsidies paid out to help get new energy schemes off | :18:18. | :18:20.
the ground remains with Westminster. It means that forming energy | :18:21. | :18:23.
policies specifically for Wales is a big challenge | :18:24. | :18:25.
for the politicians fighting for your vote at this | :18:26. | :18:27.
assembly election. We would like to see targets | :18:28. | :18:37.
for renewable energy in Wales, not for the sake of targets | :18:38. | :18:40.
themselves but because renewable energy is a very good way to get | :18:41. | :18:42.
bills down in the long-term, a good way to create | :18:43. | :18:46.
employment across Wales. Scotland with the right levels | :18:47. | :18:48.
of political support has gone very, very far in the direction | :18:49. | :18:57.
and almost certainly by 2020, they will be generating | :18:58. | :18:59.
the equivalent of all of their electricity | :19:00. | :19:01.
from renewable sources. Wales produced around | :19:02. | :19:04.
a fifth of its energy needs If it were to hit statutory targets | :19:05. | :19:07.
to reduce carbon emissions, 40% by 2020, some argue that figure | :19:08. | :19:10.
needs to rise dramatically. The parties are saying | :19:11. | :19:16.
very different things But what of the impact | :19:17. | :19:18.
on local communities? On Anglesey, large wind farm | :19:19. | :19:22.
developments and plans to create the UK's largest solar park | :19:23. | :19:24.
have sparked debate. Obviously, large turbines | :19:25. | :19:27.
have an impact on the landscape and the landscape is very important | :19:28. | :19:29.
to Anglesey because we have a very My heart would say it would be | :19:30. | :19:32.
lovely to be able to have all our electricity | :19:33. | :19:43.
produced by renewables. I think that is a little | :19:44. | :19:45.
too optimistic. The other question of course | :19:46. | :19:47.
especially here on Anglesey is to what extent nuclear power | :19:48. | :19:49.
should form part of the mix of electricity generated in Wales | :19:50. | :19:52.
in future, but that is a matter for the Westminster | :19:53. | :19:55.
government for now. Steffan, so what are the parties | :19:56. | :20:00.
saying about energy? What we are seeing is a bit of an | :20:01. | :20:15.
arms race developing when it comes to renewable energy and this is the | :20:16. | :20:18.
space where the next Welsh Government could have influenced | :20:19. | :20:21.
because if we think about control over those major energy projects | :20:22. | :20:26.
being handed down to Cardiff Bay, what we are talking about there for | :20:27. | :20:30.
the time being at least is major renewable projects, big wind farms, | :20:31. | :20:36.
solar parks and so forth. The Lib Dems say they want to see all of | :20:37. | :20:41.
Wales' electricity needs being met by 2025, the Green party by 2030 and | :20:42. | :20:46.
Plaid Cymru by 2035. The Labour Party say they want to see much more | :20:47. | :20:49.
renewable energy generation in Wales. With support for tidal | :20:50. | :20:55.
lagoons. There is one of those in prospect attention for the North | :20:56. | :21:00.
Wales coast, Cardiff, Newport and Swansea Bay. The Conservatives say | :21:01. | :21:04.
they want to see a greater variety of renewable projects on the table | :21:05. | :21:09.
in Wales. They would address planning laws. Ukip taking a | :21:10. | :21:14.
different approach. They oppose what they call and wind farms and say | :21:15. | :21:18.
they do not think we should the investing in green technologies. | :21:19. | :21:23.
They want to spend that money on other priorities. They say they do | :21:24. | :21:28.
support renewable energy schemes if they can prove they are cost | :21:29. | :21:29.
competitive. On a visit to Mid Wales today, | :21:30. | :21:31.
Ukip leader Nigel Farage admitted the party's candidate selection | :21:32. | :21:34.
process for the Assembly election Many Welsh party members | :21:35. | :21:36.
were unhappy high profile figures based in England were able | :21:37. | :21:40.
to put their name forward. And Ukip's leader in Wales, | :21:41. | :21:42.
Nathan Gill, has faced calls But speaking in Welshpool, | :21:43. | :21:44.
Nigel Farage said Mr Gill has Well, that's just | :21:45. | :21:48.
about it from Beaumaris. Lucy's been there to meet one | :21:49. | :21:59.
man, who has a message I have been talking to Ken, who got | :22:00. | :22:03.
in touch as part of My Manifesto. His mother-in-law went into a care | :22:04. | :22:11.
home and he has two sons Ken wants a new law that | :22:12. | :22:14.
would give him peace of mind. If I were the First Minister, | :22:15. | :22:23.
I would enact a holistic Bill of Rights that would protect | :22:24. | :22:26.
elderly, disabled and vulnerable people in their own homes, | :22:27. | :22:28.
in hospitals and in care homes. Tonight, a beacon is being lit | :22:29. | :22:42.
on Snowdon and on Beaumaris Castle We're heading to Wrexham | :22:43. | :22:45.
for our final stop We're talking about | :22:46. | :22:48.
the health service. Four Welsh swimmers have been | :22:49. | :22:51.
included in the team for this 19-year-old Chloe Tutton says | :22:52. | :23:01.
she's dreamt of this She'll be joined by Jazz Carlin, | :23:02. | :23:04.
Georgia Davies and Ieuan Lloyd Pontypridd's Chloe Tutton, | :23:05. | :23:08.
here in the middle, didn't think The teenager produced a personal | :23:09. | :23:19.
best to secure a 200 metre breaststroke gold in the trials, | :23:20. | :23:24.
to edge out more senior rivals I am so proud of myself to have | :23:25. | :23:26.
achieved something like this Jazz Carlin will also be | :23:27. | :23:35.
making her Olympic debut in Brazil, four years after glandular fever | :23:36. | :23:45.
denied her the chance She contemplated walking away | :23:46. | :23:47.
from the sport but she told me the hard work | :23:48. | :23:50.
since then has paid off. It is ten pool sessions a week | :23:51. | :23:56.
and on that you have five So it really is a full-time job | :23:57. | :23:59.
and most weeks I am tired and grumpy and I just want to sit on the sofa | :24:00. | :24:04.
and go to sleep. It is not the most social sport | :24:05. | :24:07.
but I can only do it once and I am Commonwealth champion | :24:08. | :24:11.
Georgia Davies, who trains So too Ieuan Lloyd, who competed | :24:12. | :24:17.
at the last Olympics. They take the number | :24:18. | :24:20.
of Welsh athletes competing Triathlete Non Stanford has | :24:21. | :24:22.
already booked her place. Boxer Joe Cordina was the first | :24:23. | :24:27.
Welshman to make it into Team GB. Shooter Elena Allen will compete | :24:28. | :24:35.
at her second games. The defending taekwondo Olympic | :24:36. | :24:42.
champion Jade Jones has virtually The same goes for | :24:43. | :24:44.
triathlete Helen Jenkins. It was sunny in | :24:45. | :24:52.
Beaumaris this evening. How's it looking for the rest of us, | :24:53. | :24:54.
Sue? Beautiful in Beaumaris today. Mixed | :24:55. | :25:03.
fortunes. The warmest day of the year so far for parts of Wales. But | :25:04. | :25:12.
cooler where we have had more cloud. And after a couple of days of | :25:13. | :25:16.
sunshine and warmth, turning cooler and more unsettled over the next few | :25:17. | :25:20.
days. This evening, it might stay fine and dry but cloud will thicken. | :25:21. | :25:25.
Some rain may pushing further south and with more cloud, less cold and | :25:26. | :25:31.
recent nights at five Celsius. We start to see changes overnight into | :25:32. | :25:35.
tomorrow. A weather front trying to push on from the south-west. Some | :25:36. | :25:39.
uncertainty how far north as will come. It should start drying the | :25:40. | :25:45.
North. But thicker cloud in the South and that could bring outbreaks | :25:46. | :25:49.
of rain across parts of South and mid Wales. Feeling colder wrap nine | :25:50. | :25:57.
Celsius. It looks like that front stalls and then retreats back | :25:58. | :26:02.
southwards tomorrow night. These isobars straightened out, | :26:03. | :26:05.
introducing more northerly winds and bad signals the change to much | :26:06. | :26:08.
colder weather into the weekend, as we introduce this Arctic air mass | :26:09. | :26:14.
from the north. The cloud and rain clears southwards. Clearer skies | :26:15. | :26:18.
developed from the North. Introducing that colder air. Some | :26:19. | :26:22.
frosted developing across mid and North Wales. A cold start on | :26:23. | :26:28.
Saturday. Some frost patches. A mix of sunny spells and sunshine. | :26:29. | :26:34.
Showers more likely further west. Some could be wintry on high ground. | :26:35. | :26:39.
Top temperature in 11 Celsius. Noticeably colder and breezy as we | :26:40. | :26:44.
head into the weekend. Sunday is looking bright and blustery. Some | :26:45. | :26:50.
showers. And staying chilly for the start of next week. Today was | :26:51. | :26:57.
possibly the last of the mild spell. It is looking colder for the end of | :26:58. | :27:01.
April. If you have any photos to help us tell the weather stories, | :27:02. | :27:02.
send them in. I'll be back with a quick | :27:03. | :27:10.
update at 8pm and more But before we go, we'll leave | :27:11. | :27:13.
you with some images of how the Welsh celebrated the Queen's | :27:14. | :27:17.
90th birthday today. | :27:18. | :27:24. |
