Emergency services and mountain rescue teams battled poor weather | :00:11. | :00:13.
And the First Minister says there should be a Labour leadership | :00:14. | :00:19.
contest, following the no confidence vote in Jeremy Corbyn. | :00:20. | :00:40.
A major operation has been underway in the Brecon Beacons after a group | :00:41. | :00:44.
Mountain rescue teams, emergency services and the Coastguard's rescue | :00:45. | :00:48.
helicopter were deployed, to find a group of 26 teenagers | :00:49. | :00:53.
who were doing their Duke of Edinburgh Award. | :00:54. | :00:55.
The 15-year-olds from London got lost in the poor weather | :00:56. | :00:57.
near Abercrave around lunchtime, but have since been rescued. | :00:58. | :01:02.
Extremely poor weather conditions across the Brecon Beacons | :01:03. | :01:07.
today triggered an emergency rescue operation after a large group of | :01:08. | :01:11.
schoolchildren from London raised the alarm. | :01:12. | :01:15.
The 26 teenagers from St Albans School in North London were doing | :01:16. | :01:23.
a Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award when it's understood two of them | :01:24. | :01:26.
became very ill whilst walking through low cloud | :01:27. | :01:28.
and heavy rain in a remote part of the mountains near Abercraf. | :01:29. | :01:31.
From this car park along the A4067 in Glyn Tawe | :01:32. | :01:34.
three mountain rescue teams and the emergency services | :01:35. | :01:36.
We used the rescue 189 helicopter came in and helped take | :01:37. | :01:46.
All of the groups have been located and | :01:47. | :01:53.
all of them are currently either off or being walked off the hill. | :01:54. | :01:56.
Rescuers then carried the children's equipment down off the mountain | :01:57. | :02:00.
before they were walked to nearby Ystradgynlais where they were | :02:01. | :02:02.
treated at a local hospital, having spent many hours exposed | :02:03. | :02:08.
They did as they were trained and they were told to | :02:09. | :02:12.
put their bothy bags up so they fed themselves and watered themselves | :02:13. | :02:15.
put warm kit on and as soon as they were ready | :02:16. | :02:19.
mountain rescue were happy that everything was OK | :02:20. | :02:21.
they were walked down by the safest, quickest way of the mountain. | :02:22. | :02:25.
All 26 children have since been checked over by the medical staff | :02:26. | :02:27.
here at the Community Hospital here in Ystradgynlais. | :02:28. | :02:30.
We understand that none of the children have been | :02:31. | :02:32.
They will spend the night at local accommodation before | :02:33. | :02:37.
The First Minister says Labour has no hope of winning a general | :02:38. | :02:46.
election if the in-fighting continues within the party. | :02:47. | :02:50.
Carwyn Jones was speaking after an overwhelming vote of no | :02:51. | :02:54.
confidence in Jeremy Corbyn by his own Labour MPs. | :02:55. | :03:02.
Mr Corbyn says quitting would betray the members that backed him | :03:03. | :03:04.
With the party in chaos, how is it playing out in Wales? | :03:05. | :03:09.
Here's Political Editor Nick Servini. | :03:10. | :03:16.
Is anyone listening to Jeremy Corbyn? This was the Labour leader | :03:17. | :03:22.
in Cardiff in the referendum campaign, and it is his role in that | :03:23. | :03:26.
that is at the centre of the crisis in the party. It is not exactly 180, | :03:27. | :03:33.
but it was 172 of his own MPs who refuse to back him in a secret | :03:34. | :03:38.
ballot. That was among MPs in Westminster but what about places | :03:39. | :03:43.
like this? Labour club in Port Talbot? I spoke to two Labour | :03:44. | :03:49.
councillors, one who wants Jeremy Corbyn to go, and one who wants him | :03:50. | :03:52.
to stay. Regrettably I think he should step down. Because he has | :03:53. | :03:59.
lost authority? I think so, yes, amongst his MPs. I am fearful that | :04:00. | :04:07.
any event or a subsequent general election when it takes place at the | :04:08. | :04:11.
core Labour vote will not come out in force. Surely there is something | :04:12. | :04:15.
missing here between the membership and the MPs. The vast majority of | :04:16. | :04:20.
the membership once Jeremy. Local councillors pride themselves with | :04:21. | :04:23.
being in touch with their party members but no one really knows what | :04:24. | :04:27.
would happen if there was another leadership contest. MPs believe much | :04:28. | :04:30.
of the support that previously existed for Jeremy Corbyn is on the | :04:31. | :04:36.
wane because the referendum was a game changer. Corbin loyalists say | :04:37. | :04:40.
that Brexit has caused upheaval everywhere and the last thing | :04:41. | :04:44.
neighbour needs to do is to throw things up in the air. -- Labour | :04:45. | :04:51.
needs to do. The First Minister has refused to criticise Jeremy Corbyn | :04:52. | :04:53.
but he has said that if he lost that level of support among his own am is | :04:54. | :04:57.
he would find it difficult to continue and he had this level of | :04:58. | :05:01.
assessment about the party prospects. The party is deeply | :05:02. | :05:06.
divided. We have no hope of winning if it continues like this. There | :05:07. | :05:10.
needs to be a resolution and that of course means a leadership contest. | :05:11. | :05:12.
At the start of the week eight of Labour's shadow team had resigned. | :05:13. | :05:15.
Three more have now followed, leaving one Welsh MP, Jo Stephens. | :05:16. | :05:18.
Chris Bryant, Nia Griffith and Owen Smith are among the more | :05:19. | :05:20.
prominent, with the shadow Welsh secretary role still vacant, | :05:21. | :05:24.
despite being offered to four MPs, all of whom declined. | :05:25. | :05:34.
Jeremy Corbyn supporters in Wales have warned that there could be | :05:35. | :05:39.
consequences for the MPs who have gone against him. I think that we | :05:40. | :05:45.
really do need to look at a more robust structure of accountability | :05:46. | :05:49.
for our MPs, including mandatory reselection. I think for those MPs | :05:50. | :05:53.
who have been consistently disloyal to the leadership then I think that | :05:54. | :05:58.
is what political parties need to be considering. The driver may all be | :05:59. | :06:01.
happening in Westminster at the moment but it looks increasingly | :06:02. | :06:05.
likely that it will be resolved by voters in heart lit areas around the | :06:06. | :06:11.
country. -- Hartland areas around the country. | :06:12. | :06:12.
The MP for Preseli Pembrokeshire, Stephen Crabb, has launched his | :06:13. | :06:14.
campaign to become the next Prime Minister. | :06:15. | :06:16.
The Work and Pensions Secretary dismissed claims he's too | :06:17. | :06:18.
inexperienced to replace David Cameron as Conservative leader | :06:19. | :06:20.
and said his background in negotiating further power | :06:21. | :06:23.
for Wales puts him in a good position to take Britain out | :06:24. | :06:26.
we did establish a cross-party agreement in the end. We got there. | :06:27. | :06:35.
We managed to blend all the different viewpoints, from the Welsh | :06:36. | :06:38.
nationalists to the Conservatives who were completely opposed to | :06:39. | :06:42.
devolution. I managed to do that, I brought together the people around | :06:43. | :06:45.
the table and we got a coherent position and we are taking forward a | :06:46. | :06:46.
bill to implement that. An inquest jury has concluded that | :06:47. | :06:48.
inadequate procedures and staff shortages probably contributed | :06:49. | :06:50.
to the death of a pensioner 88-year-old Gwilym Lumley died | :06:51. | :06:53.
after an incident with a fellow patient at the Heddfan unit in | :06:54. | :07:04.
Wrexham in 2014. His family were fighting to get him | :07:05. | :07:06.
transferred to a residential home 115 jobs are under threat | :07:07. | :07:09.
at a chemical plant in Barry. The Dow Corning factory | :07:10. | :07:13.
employs 630 people. The company says the decision has | :07:14. | :07:15.
nothing to do with the UK leaving Police were justified | :07:16. | :07:18.
in using a patrol car to kill a dog That's according to a review | :07:19. | :07:26.
for the North Wales force. The foxhound was deliberately run | :07:27. | :07:30.
over near Conwy in February after officers couldn't | :07:31. | :07:32.
bring it under control. The review says no action should be | :07:33. | :07:34.
taken against officers, but patrol vehicles should carry | :07:35. | :07:36.
slip leads and nets in future. To France and the Euros now, | :07:37. | :07:43.
and Friday's match against Belgium will be the biggest game since 1958, | :07:44. | :07:47.
that's What Gareth Bale thinks. Belgium are the favourites | :07:48. | :07:53.
but will be wary of the Wales team, as Bale and his team mates beat them | :07:54. | :08:02.
in qualification To know we can be the big teams give | :08:03. | :08:13.
you do a bit more confidence for the team and you know you can go to the | :08:14. | :08:16.
next level. Since beating Belgium we have gone up to another level and we | :08:17. | :08:20.
have taken our game on. Obviously we have played more games in our system | :08:21. | :08:25.
and jailing even more, it makes you even better as well. | :08:26. | :08:26.
A slight improvement in the weather tomorrow. Dry and bright start with | :08:27. | :08:38.
patchy rain by the time we get into the afternoon. Tonight we have quite | :08:39. | :08:41.
a bit of cloud around and some clear skies and where the skies do clear | :08:42. | :08:45.
there will be mist and fog patches with the isolated shower and lows of | :08:46. | :08:51.
around 9 degrees. Tomorrow high pressure is trying to build from the | :08:52. | :08:54.
south but a weather front is cheeky git from the West and bringing | :08:55. | :08:58.
patchy rain by the time we get to the afternoon. First thing tomorrow | :08:59. | :09:01.
morning for the rush hour it is a dry and bright start with a few | :09:02. | :09:05.
isolated showers. The winds pick up as we head into the afternoon and | :09:06. | :09:09.
patchy rain arrives as well. For the rest of the British Isles the | :09:10. | :09:13.
further east you are it is dry and brighter with brisk south-westerly | :09:14. | :09:18.
winds and share was further west with highs of 15 to about 20 | :09:19. | :09:23.
degrees. Patchy rain continues in Wales with brightness in between and | :09:24. | :09:28.
brisk winds taking the edge of the temperatures, with highs of 15 to | :09:29. | :09:32.
18. The rain will continue into tomorrow night but the wind will | :09:33. | :09:35.
push the rain through pretty quickly and overnight it turns lighter and | :09:36. | :09:39.
the temperatures remain in double figures thanks to the breeze at its | :09:40. | :09:44.
lowest around 12 degrees. Friday is a day of sunshine and showers and | :09:45. | :09:48.
Saturday is the best day of the weekend with fewer showers, more | :09:49. | :09:51.
persistent rain to come by the time we get to Sunday. | :09:52. | :09:56.
From all of us on the programme, good night. | :09:57. | :10:02. |
