Good evening. The sun sets on August this weekend, I'm sure some of you

will be pleased. After a promising start to the summer, August is the

month where it took a turn for the cooler. It's the first month since

last November where we will have seen below-average temperatures. Bit

time the numbers are crunched, potentially this could be the

coolest August in over 20 years. coolest August in over 20 years

What went wrong? It was hurricane bertha which broke the patterns.

Another ex-hurricane this cloud in the Atlantic could be along to stick

the sticking plaster on and save something warmer for next week. At

the moment we have low pressure to the north of the UK tonight. Bands

of showers across the country pushing southwards and eastwards. A

few of you will stay dry. I think most seeing a bit of dampness before

the night is out. Heavier bursts across northern England and

Scotland. The breeze will stop temperatures from falling too much.

Not a desperately chilly start to Saturday. Really for quite a few of

you Saturday is a dry day, even where we see the showers, there will

be a lot of dry weather too. Showers start the day across western areas,

pushing east in the breeze. The heaviest in the afternoon, rumbles

of thunder too. If you do see a shower, it may be a fleeting one for

the whole day. In the sunshine, it should feel pleasant enough. The

breeze falls even lighter through Saturday night into Sunday. High

pressure is building. One or two mist or fog patches possible. Sunday

begins on a largely dry note. Morning mistiness should clear. Good

brighter, sunny spells across eastern areas. Cloud in the west

thickens turning the sunshine hazy. Later, it could be thick enough for

flash splashes of rain for Northern Ireland and western Scotland

particularly. Not a bad day and it should feel pleasant with highs of

17 to 22 Celsius. The weather fronts bringing the rain links into this

pushing to the north of us. In pushing to the north of us, we drag

in this area of high pressure from the mid-Atlantic. That is going to

make a big change. A few weather fronts amongst it. There will be

cloudy moments, one or two showers. Into September, things settle down,

there'll be good, sunny spells and it will feel warm with the sun out
