Our top story tonight - a woman's jailed for crying rape. | :00:04. | :00:07.
Amber Mills accused a former lover - but later admitted she'd made it | :00:07. | :00:12.
Also tonight - the city schools facing a parking levy bill of | :00:12. | :00:20.
500,000 a year. And a wagtail in the works - the | :00:20. | :00:30.
:00:30. | :00:51. | ||
tiny bird that's brought a building First tonight, the damage done by | :00:51. | :00:55.
women who make false allegations of rape. Innocent men arrested, police | :00:55. | :00:57.
resources wasted and genuine victims discouraged from coming | :00:57. | :01:03.
forward. One Derby woman who told police she'd been raped was today | :01:03. | :01:08.
jailed for 16 months. She'd accused a former lover but later admitted, | :01:08. | :01:18.
"I suppose I was just being evil". Simon Hare was in court. | :01:18. | :01:22.
Rape victims are entitled to anonymity. But Amber Mills, seen | :01:22. | :01:25.
here hiding her face, is no such victim. She'd told police she'd | :01:25. | :01:28.
been raped by a former boyfriend - but she'd made it up just to get | :01:28. | :01:32.
back at him. Derby Crown Court heard he was arrested and | :01:32. | :01:34.
questioned over that and another allegation that he'd indecently | :01:34. | :01:39.
exposed himself to her. Mills later admitted, "I suppose I was just | :01:39. | :01:44.
being evil". She pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice | :01:44. | :01:52.
and tonight finds herself behind bars. | :01:52. | :01:55.
Sentencing Mills took 16 months, the judge said that this was a | :01:55. | :02:01.
planned, despicable, determined and sustained attempt at revenge. He | :02:01. | :02:06.
added that significant police resources had been wasted by the | :02:06. | :02:09.
investigation into her totally false allegations. Officers from | :02:09. | :02:14.
Derbyshire police's Operation Diamond unit, which investigates | :02:14. | :02:21.
sexual crimes spends hours investigating the claims. They're | :02:21. | :02:23.
very, very rare occasions that people make false reports, my | :02:23. | :02:27.
officers will get to the bottom of it and those people will have to be | :02:27. | :02:32.
prosecuted because it is wrong. Police time is so scarce and | :02:32. | :02:37.
resources are so difficult at this moment that it should not be wasted | :02:37. | :02:42.
on false allegations. The false -- the judge also said that false | :02:42. | :02:45.
allegations have not only affect the confidence of the police but | :02:45. | :02:54.
also have an impact on conviction rates and a genuine victims of rape. | :02:54. | :02:59.
Earlier, I spoke to Sue Younger of Victim Support. She says that false | :02:59. | :03:05.
rape allegations can have serious consequences. They are very rare | :03:05. | :03:09.
indeed, although they do receive a lot of media coverage, which often | :03:09. | :03:13.
leads people to believe that they happen more often than they do. | :03:13. | :03:17.
Let's take the effects on the victim - the person who has been | :03:17. | :03:22.
falsely accused, usually a man. It is devastating, isn't it? | :03:22. | :03:27.
Absolutely. It is ethically wrong to make false allegations of rape, | :03:27. | :03:31.
and the things that can happen can be very severe. It can affect homes, | :03:32. | :03:37.
jobs, relationships. It can be very traumatic. Does it also affects the | :03:37. | :03:45.
way that genuine rape victims feel about reported it? Yes, it can | :03:45. | :03:48.
devalue Gabriel rape victim's experience, because they can often | :03:48. | :03:55.
feel that they can't come to court. -- a real rape victim. It is very | :03:55. | :03:58.
difficult to get the help and support that they need and deserve, | :03:58. | :04:05.
and that is where Victim Support comes in. Every rape investigation | :04:05. | :04:09.
can be very complex, so if you are talking about wasting police time, | :04:09. | :04:15.
it costs an awful lot of money.. does. It wastes a lot of people's | :04:15. | :04:25.
:04:25. | :04:32. | ||
time. It should not happen. A drink-driver who injured a | :04:32. | :04:35.
policeman and narrowly missed a group of pedestrians has been | :04:35. | :04:37.
jailed for six months. 25-year-old Andrew Richmond was trying to get | :04:37. | :04:41.
away when he pinned the officer's leg between his car and a patrol | :04:41. | :04:43.
vehicle. His escape had been blocked by a level crossing on | :04:43. | :04:47.
Sawley Road in Long Eaton. A short time later, Richmond crashed into a | :04:47. | :04:50.
house and parked cars - and almost hit six people who were walking | :04:50. | :04:51.
past. Meanwhile, Leicestershire Police | :04:51. | :04:54.
say they are disappointed at the high number of people arrested | :04:54. | :04:55.
during their summer campaign against drink-driving. Officers | :04:55. | :04:59.
arrested 100 in just 30 days. Almost a quarter will appear in | :04:59. | :05:03.
court in the next month. Police praised pubs for offering free soft | :05:03. | :05:13.
:05:13. | :05:15. | ||
drinks for designated drivers. Still to come on the programme - | :05:15. | :05:18.
the clutch problem that's halted a digger at a building site. Namely, | :05:18. | :05:21.
the clutch of eggs being hatched by a wagtail under the wheels of this | :05:21. | :05:31.
:05:31. | :05:31. | ||
Next year, schools in Nottingham face a potential bill of more than | :05:31. | :05:36.
500,000 just for parking. It's because of the workplace parking | :05:36. | :05:41.
levy, which comes into force next April. Schools now face a choice. | :05:41. | :05:44.
Pay up from money that could be used for education, or pass on the | :05:44. | :05:47.
costs to those who drive in - staff and sixth-form students. Mike | :05:47. | :05:57.
:05:57. | :06:00. | ||
O'Sullivan has this report. Driving into school, this sixth- | :06:00. | :06:04.
former at the Trinity Catholic School in Long Eaton in Nottingham | :06:04. | :06:09.
parks on side. From next April, he could have to pay an estimated 279 | :06:09. | :06:15.
per year just to do that. I decided to drive to make it easier for me | :06:15. | :06:19.
to get to school and to save money and make my student life easier. | :06:19. | :06:25.
Having to pay would be another cost on running my car. The school has | :06:25. | :06:31.
around 80 parking spaces. Its individual bill for the thirstier | :06:31. | :06:38.
could be around 22,000. -- the first year. Governor has have to | :06:38. | :06:41.
decide whether the cost is borne by the school or passed on to | :06:41. | :06:45.
employees. It is assessed on the car parking spaces in the school | :06:45. | :06:50.
area, so the students have to drive in and are subject to the same | :06:50. | :06:54.
costs. Elliott says he will continue to drive in, but try to | :06:54. | :07:00.
park on the street. Mike O'Sullivan reporting there. So - schools | :07:00. | :07:03.
affected. Who else will be liable for the charge - and who will | :07:03. | :07:06.
escape it? Here's the workplace parking levy zone. It's estimated | :07:06. | :07:15.
it contains around 38,000 parking spaces. The levy's being put in | :07:15. | :07:18.
place to help pay for public transport projects in Nottingham. | :07:18. | :07:20.
Some 3,500 premises will have to licence their parking spaces. And | :07:20. | :07:26.
each space will cost 279 a year in the first year. That's at current | :07:26. | :07:31.
estimates - no guarantee it won't go up because of inflation. So, | :07:31. | :07:34.
what about charging Nottingham's schools? Is it really fair to | :07:34. | :07:43.
charge even pupils to park at school? We put that to the council. | :07:43. | :07:46.
A painter park your car, or wherever you are parking at, or | :07:46. | :07:52.
whether it is in town or wherever it is. -- paying to park your car. | :07:52. | :07:56.
It is something you have to take into account when you were deciding | :07:56. | :08:01.
whether you can afford to have a calf. | :08:01. | :08:11.
:08:11. | :08:13. | ||
Mike O'Sullivan can rejoin us. A landmark day for the project? Yes, | :08:13. | :08:15.
because from today, businesses and organisations can actually apply | :08:15. | :08:19.
for a workplace parking levy licence. So they're having to think | :08:19. | :08:22.
hard now about the number of parking spaces they have, and the | :08:22. | :08:24.
number of vehicles that regularly use their site. That's because the | :08:24. | :08:27.
council will be enforcing all this with ANPR technology in a special | :08:27. | :08:30.
van, costing around 90,000. This is technology that recognises and | :08:30. | :08:32.
records number plates. They'll be making regular sweeps of premises | :08:32. | :08:35.
to check who is regularly parking there. That could mean an extra | :08:35. | :08:38.
bill in some places. The businesses and organisations will also have to | :08:38. | :08:41.
decide whether to pay the levy themselves, or pass on the charge | :08:41. | :08:45.
to the car user. Now if they do, the car user will have to pay VAT | :08:45. | :08:49.
on top. But the city council says that won't apply if the business or | :08:49. | :08:51.
organisation starts up a tax arrangement called a salary | :08:51. | :08:54.
sacrifice. But whether or not that would apply to a sixth-former or | :08:54. | :08:57.
student isn't clear. Registration has to be completed by October the | :08:57. | :09:07.
:09:07. | :09:27. | ||
Not everyone will have to pay. The NHS is not liable, so hospitals, GP | :09:27. | :09:32.
surgeries, the emergency services will not pay. What about Nottingham | :09:32. | :09:36.
City Council? Yes, they will be charging their own people, too, | :09:36. | :09:43.
based on salary grades. A union will ballot staff at | :09:43. | :09:47.
Nottinghamshire Police over whether to take industrial action in a | :09:47. | :09:51.
second round of redundancies. But also needs to save 46 million over | :09:51. | :09:56.
the next four years. The union Unison claims Nottinghamshire | :09:56. | :10:01.
Police has announced 746 redundancies. The police, though, | :10:01. | :10:05.
accused the union of using inflammatory language and said the | :10:05. | :10:08.
eventual number of redundancies is expected to be a fraction of that | :10:08. | :10:12.
they get. The consultation period to decide | :10:12. | :10:17.
the future of children's heart surgery in Leicester ended today. A | :10:17. | :10:20.
government review is considering stopping specialist operations at | :10:20. | :10:24.
Glenfield Hospital as part of a nationwide changes, but supporters | :10:24. | :10:29.
have spent weeks is any campaigning. Already, 20,000 responses from the | :10:29. | :10:33.
East Midlands and petitions with more than 100,000 names have been | :10:33. | :10:39.
handed in to ministers. Tesco shareholders have been | :10:39. | :10:45.
lobbied by 100 pig producers. Members of the British Pig Industry | :10:45. | :10:47.
Support Group say that a rising feed prices mean that they | :10:47. | :10:52.
currently lose 10 on every paid that they sell to Tesco. They want | :10:52. | :10:56.
the supermarket chain to follow Waitrose, Morrisons and McDonald's | :10:56. | :11:05.
in supporting producers with higher payments. | :11:05. | :11:07.
A fundraiser for the Maggie's Cancer Care Centre in Nottingham | :11:07. | :11:10.
has been jailed for a year after admitting trying to steal from the | :11:10. | :11:13.
charity. Emma Critchley was told by the judge the offences were so | :11:13. | :11:16.
grave that prison was the only option. Sarah Teale has been | :11:16. | :11:23.
following the story, and reports from Nottingham Crown Court. | :11:23. | :11:26.
Yes, this is Maggie's Cancer Centre, which is due to open later this | :11:26. | :11:30.
year. It'll be a place of support and care for cancer patients and | :11:30. | :11:32.
their families. Emma Critchley was the well-known face behind a | :11:32. | :11:35.
campaign to raise 500,000 towards the building of it. But today | :11:35. | :11:38.
Nottingham Crown Court heard how the mother of two actually tried to | :11:38. | :11:40.
steal money from the charity instead. The 36-year-old from | :11:40. | :11:43.
Kirkby Woodhouse received a cheque for 3,500 from a cancer patient | :11:43. | :11:51.
who had held a garden party to raise money for the charity project. | :11:51. | :11:54.
Critchley blanked out the payee details and tried to pay it into | :11:54. | :11:59.
her account instead. The bank raised the alarm and she was | :11:59. | :12:03.
arrested. We heard today that when she committed that offence in 2009, | :12:03. | :12:06.
she was already on police bail for stealing 8,000 from the East | :12:06. | :12:08.
Titchfield Neighbourhood Management Team - a community group where she | :12:08. | :12:17.
volunteered. Her defence solicitor urged for a lenient sentence, | :12:17. | :12:20.
saying Critchley was three months pregnant and suffering depression | :12:20. | :12:27.
and mental health problems. But the judge told her that the offences | :12:27. | :12:30.
were so grave she had to go to prison. She was sentenced to 12 | :12:30. | :12:40.
months behind bars. The Gedling MP Vernon Coaker has | :12:40. | :12:49.
today officially opened a new flood defence scheme on the River Trent. | :12:49. | :12:52.
The scheme at Burton Joyce is designed to protect some 300 | :12:52. | :12:54.
properties in the village. Construction has cost almost | :12:54. | :12:56.
500,000. Experts say the new defences reduce the risk of | :12:56. | :13:06.
:13:06. | :13:12. | ||
flooding to just a 1% chance in any year. | :13:12. | :13:16.
Today, steam train started running again and took Matlock from the | :13:16. | :13:22.
north. The old track used to provide an express service between | :13:22. | :13:25.
Manchester and London - but it closed as a result of the infamous | :13:25. | :13:28.
rail cuts of the 1960s. So, 43 years on, the reopening's been a | :13:28. | :13:32.
great day for steam buffs. Heading into Matlock, a steam- | :13:32. | :13:34.
hauled train full of enthusiasts, with plenty more on the platform, | :13:35. | :13:39.
there to witness a historic moment. The peak rail line - since the | :13:39. | :13:43.
1960s - ended here. But today, exactly 43 years to the day since | :13:43. | :13:46.
steam trains - indeed ANY trains - approached Matlock from the north, | :13:46. | :13:56.
:13:56. | :13:59. | ||
the first arrived from that direction since 1968. We have been | :13:59. | :14:02.
struggling for six years to get all the negotiations ready but we made | :14:02. | :14:11.
it. We are here now, so it is wonderful. It's taken well over a | :14:11. | :14:14.
decade to build the connection from the old Riverside station just | :14:14. | :14:17.
north of Matlock. Finally, in April, the last connections were put in | :14:17. | :14:19.
place, meaning the rails were at last open again into Matlock | :14:19. | :14:29.
:14:29. | :14:31. | ||
station itslef. Passengers can now arrive from Derby on National Rail, | :14:31. | :14:34.
cross the bridge, and travel north with Peak Rail. Shareholders and | :14:34. | :14:37.
enthusiasts who've backed Peak Rail were on the first train back north. | :14:37. | :14:41.
Absolutely delighted. It has been a long time coming. We are remaking | :14:41. | :14:45.
history. We have to make sure we look after these things and pass | :14:45. | :14:52.
them on. Peak Rail's next ambition is continue the tracks northward | :14:52. | :15:02.
:15:02. | :15:03. | ||
from Rowsley South station. We want to push on to Bakewell. There'll be | :15:03. | :15:05.
a public steam-rail festival from Matlock for the next three days. | :15:06. | :15:08.
But Jackie Statham's just happy that ALL passengers can - once | :15:08. | :15:18.
:15:18. | :15:18. | ||
again - enjoy trips from a proper station. | :15:18. | :15:23.
This year's big summer clean got under way in Nottingham today. It | :15:23. | :15:29.
is about making the city a better place to live in and visit. They | :15:29. | :15:32.
have a helper in this dog. She hates to see rubbish on the street | :15:32. | :15:36.
and picks it up so there owner can put it in the bin. The clean-up | :15:36. | :15:41.
runs until the end of August. We have got this dog who is not an | :15:41. | :15:45.
employee of the council, but likes to pick up bits of rubbish to get | :15:45. | :15:52.
them put away. If she can do it, the rest of us can, as well. | :15:52. | :15:58.
Everyone should have one like that! Are Work to build a new Highways | :15:58. | :16:02.
depot near Newark has been held up, and it's for a very unusual reason. | :16:02. | :16:05.
A bird weighing in at around 25 grammes has stopped a digger | :16:05. | :16:09.
weighing 17 tonnes in its tracks. Jim Harris has more. | :16:09. | :16:14.
Work ground to a halt here at the new Highway depot at Bilsthorpe. It | :16:14. | :16:17.
wasn't machine failure, or even a strike. It was a small pied wagtail | :16:17. | :16:27.
:16:27. | :16:29. | ||
measuring about 4 inches long that stopped this digger. At the end of | :16:29. | :16:32.
last week, the machine was digging away and the birds kept following | :16:32. | :16:37.
the machine and browned. They were underneath and we could see the | :16:37. | :16:43.
nest, so we brought the machine back. The this is where the bird is | :16:43. | :16:48.
nesting. There is no way we can get a camera in there, so we are going | :16:48. | :16:53.
to use my smartphone. Project is on the lights and I am using my phone | :16:53. | :17:00.
as a camera. -- Roger. The results weren't great - that's the nest | :17:00. | :17:02.
next to the suspension. The bird's obviously wiser than I thought, | :17:02. | :17:06.
though. While we were busy under her home, she'd moved to a place of | :17:06. | :17:09.
safety and was keeping a motherly eye on us. The management are | :17:09. | :17:13.
fairly unruffled about their visitor. The driver's busy on | :17:13. | :17:20.
another vehicle and hopefully the project will still be on time. | :17:20. | :17:26.
has been there eight days so far. The gestation time for the eggs is | :17:26. | :17:30.
10 to 13 days and from then, there is another 13 days before the | :17:30. | :17:34.
fledglings are ready to leave the nest. We are looking at 15 days | :17:34. | :17:37.
before she is gone. So for now, that JCB stays put till nature's | :17:37. | :17:47.
:17:47. | :17:56. | ||
Still to come - becoming clean- shaven for the first time in over | :17:56. | :18:02.
30 years. Quite a revelation for him, as well as his wife and kids. | :18:02. | :18:08.
What if she doesn't like it?! Time for sport and news of some | :18:08. | :18:12.
tennis success. It is and often we start with tennis but because of | :18:12. | :18:17.
the success of Britain's newest rising star, he was a trained in | :18:17. | :18:20.
Nottingham. We met Adrien Brody after his | :18:20. | :18:24.
quarter-final yesterday and today, he made it into the final with a | :18:24. | :18:31.
storming win over Jason Kubler. He won the match in straight sets. He | :18:31. | :18:35.
goes to the final with the chance of being the first British boy's | :18:35. | :18:40.
champion since 1962. No pressure, then! I don't feel any because I | :18:40. | :18:45.
wasn't expected to make it this far anyway. I have already done quite | :18:45. | :18:51.
well, so I don't know what to say. He later captain and wing with | :18:51. | :18:54.
victory in the doubles quarter- finals, too, so he has got a busy | :18:54. | :19:04.
:19:04. | :19:05. | ||
weekend ahead. Nottingham Forest have confirmed the return of former | :19:05. | :19:08.
star and Republic of Ireland midfielder Andy Reid. Reid was last | :19:08. | :19:11.
seen in a Forest shirt in early 2005 before leaving on a five | :19:11. | :19:14.
million pound deal to play for Tottenham. He's also had stints at | :19:14. | :19:17.
Charlton, Sunderland and Blackpool. He's back on a two year deal and is | :19:17. | :19:20.
new manager Steve McClaren's first signing. And confirmation that Paul | :19:20. | :19:23.
McKenna is leaving the City Ground. His deal with Hull was completed | :19:23. | :19:25.
today. Leicester City look to be close to | :19:25. | :19:27.
another big-money signing. Peterborough say they've accepted a | :19:27. | :19:30.
three million pound bid from the Foxes for Craig Mackail-Smith. The | :19:30. | :19:33.
striker wasn't with the Leicester squad today - as they returned for | :19:33. | :19:35.
pre season training. Ross Fletcher was there. | :19:35. | :19:38.
It feels like they've barely been away - and now they're back and | :19:38. | :19:42.
getting ready for another promotion campaign. Yes, the football pre | :19:42. | :19:45.
season is officially here - even though there's still plenty of | :19:45. | :19:55.
:19:55. | :19:56. | ||
cricket to be played. While Kaspar Schmeichel is being | :19:56. | :19:59.
put through his paces, the rest of the squad are doing the dreaded | :19:59. | :20:06.
bleep test. It is good to have the data on them, and see if someone | :20:06. | :20:11.
needs to work harder. It is the worst day in the calendar for me. I | :20:11. | :20:16.
was on a beach yesterday and today I was doing the big test, so it was | :20:16. | :20:21.
a shock to the system. There was also a first glimpse of | :20:21. | :20:24.
new signings Lee Peltier and Neil Danns as they mixed it with the | :20:24. | :20:28.
rest of the squad. Sven says he wants another 2 or 3 signings to | :20:28. | :20:38.
:20:38. | :20:38. | ||
improve on last season, when a playoff place slipped away. There | :20:38. | :20:41.
were 10 or 15 games that you could pick something about we could have | :20:41. | :20:46.
done better. I am sure the manager and the staff have looked at it | :20:46. | :20:51.
over the summer, and we will be looking at that in the pre-season. | :20:51. | :20:59.
But before the big kick-off, and plenty of hard running! | :20:59. | :21:07.
Also back in training were Derby County. They have an Newquay Perth. | :21:07. | :21:14.
-- a new goalkeeper. What other then macro cricket | :21:14. | :21:24.
:21:24. | :21:28. | ||
against today. The details are on the screen. -- lots of T20 games. | :21:28. | :21:31.
Bit of rugby news - Leicester Tigers Scrum Half Ben Youngs WILL | :21:31. | :21:35.
be fit for the World Cup later this year - even though he's been | :21:35. | :21:38.
through knee surgery. The keyhole operation was to trim cartilege but | :21:38. | :21:41.
his recovery has already gone well - and England expect to have him | :21:41. | :21:44.
available for their second world cup warm up game which is against | :21:44. | :21:50.
Wales in August. A year ago this week, England got | :21:50. | :21:53.
knocked out of the World Cup in South Africa. But at least some | :21:53. | :21:55.
English footballers made an impression. A local charity went | :21:55. | :21:57.
into the townships delivering coaching sessions and handing out | :21:58. | :22:00.
footballs and rugby balls. Now they've brought their skills to the | :22:00. | :22:05.
inner city here. Mark Shardlow reports. For the teenagers of this | :22:05. | :22:10.
college, a trip to Cape Town was life-changing. They coached 30,000 | :22:10. | :22:16.
kids and gave out thousands of but balls. But their work also goes on | :22:16. | :22:22.
back here. Someone yesterday said they wanted to be like Jesse J. | :22:22. | :22:29.
What do you think she has had to do to get into that position? Does | :22:29. | :22:36.
anybody have a clue what intuition means? Sport and popular culture | :22:36. | :22:41.
are key in their lessons. Last week, a week focused on inspiration and | :22:41. | :22:45.
this week we are focusing on aspirations. From Beckham to | :22:45. | :22:50.
Muhammad Ali, the pupils are asked about their aspirations. My mum | :22:50. | :22:57.
because she always looks after me. Wayne Rooney. He scored the best | :22:57. | :23:02.
goal against Barcelona. My grandma, because she has always been there | :23:02. | :23:10.
for me and my mom and she is a great grandma. Then it is outside | :23:11. | :23:15.
took tiller their new footballs. is a chance to deliver themselves | :23:15. | :23:22.
out of comfort zones. They also growing self-confidence during the | :23:22. | :23:25.
public speaking, teaching the youngsters about different cultures | :23:25. | :23:30.
and integration, and re-enacting the township coaching sessions in | :23:30. | :23:34.
the playground. Just to see them happy, are learning a skill from me | :23:34. | :23:38.
makes me feel like I am a role model. The session ends with a | :23:38. | :23:42.
return to the topic of the day. Does anybody believe they behave so | :23:42. | :23:47.
well that somebody would aspire to behave like them? My little brother | :23:47. | :23:51.
because I show good manners and I help around the house. The students | :23:51. | :23:55.
really believe sport can change lives. They believe they have seen | :23:55. | :24:01.
it in the townships of South Africa and the inner city of Nottingham. | :24:01. | :24:06.
Good to have role models. Another one on the way in the form of Liam | :24:06. | :24:16.
:24:16. | :24:18. | ||
Broady. He has done really well. Now, there are some people who you | :24:18. | :24:28.
:24:28. | :24:40. | ||
can't imagine without a beard - 1977, the height of Saturday Night | :24:40. | :24:44.
Fever and the last time Rob had a clean-shaven. He started growing | :24:44. | :24:50.
his beard at 15 and 34 years later has decided to shave it off. His | :24:50. | :24:54.
granddaughter is the reason why. He is raising money for the neonatal | :24:54. | :24:58.
unit at a hospital where she was born. But the beers has become | :24:58. | :25:03.
legendary. I left school with a reasonable beards. I came to work | :25:03. | :25:07.
here and it has been there ever since. Some people just ask for the | :25:07. | :25:12.
man with the beard when they bring up. That will be a bit daunting! | :25:12. | :25:18.
Have you ever seen him without a beard? No, never. How are you | :25:18. | :25:24.
feeling? We have been married 26 years. I am very nervous for him | :25:24. | :25:29.
and excited, too. While he gets ready for the shade at a car | :25:29. | :25:32.
showroom where he works, here is what was going on the last time he | :25:32. | :25:37.
was clean-shaven. But Queen celebrated her Silver Jubilee and | :25:37. | :25:42.
Virginia Wade won the ladies' title at Wimbledon. We said hello to | :25:42. | :25:46.
Johnny Rotten and that the punk movement, and said goodbye to some | :25:46. | :25:52.
old favourites, too. The transformation is complete, so what | :25:52. | :25:58.
does everyone think? Aids takes years off him. It looks really | :25:58. | :26:05.
strange. -- it takes years of him up. But a robber might have to wait | :26:05. | :26:10.
a view years to find out what his granddaughter things! | :26:10. | :26:16.
-- Robert might have to wait a few years. | :26:16. | :26:24.
Could you imagine me with a beard? No, I can't. I used to have one. | :26:24. | :26:30.
That was me in 1989. That was the last time I had a beard. The great | :26:30. | :26:33.
thing about beards is that you can always remember the previous day's | :26:33. | :26:41.
breakfast! If you go to nightclubs with ultraviolet light, you can see | :26:41. | :26:51.
:26:51. | :26:53. | ||
Now, the weather. Good news for anyone taking part in the relay | :26:53. | :26:58.
events this weekend. Settled conditions across the weekend. Two | :26:58. | :27:07.
events are happening in the East Midlands. There are high pollen | :27:07. | :27:12.
counts around at the moment, but you will be interested to know that | :27:13. | :27:19.
they are staying with us into next week. We it have a dry, settled | :27:19. | :27:26.
weather and high winds. We start that the day on a bit of all night. | :27:26. | :27:33.
-- started. -- started at the day on a beautiful note. Some sunshine | :27:34. | :27:38.
around before it gets dark this evening and then one or two clear | :27:38. | :27:43.
spells overnight. It will be fairly chilly Kohl with a minimum | :27:43. | :27:48.
temperature of nine degrees. Some rural spots get a bit cooler. | :27:48. | :27:53.
Broken cloud and sunshine to start tomorrow and then a bit of cloud it | :27:53. | :27:57.
through the day, but always some sunny spells around as well. A bit | :27:57. | :28:01.
warmer than today with a top temperature of 20. Bat high | :28:01. | :28:06.
pressure is staying with us across the weekend so Sunday is another | :28:06. | :28:15.
day of broken cloud. The settled conditions stay with us, so dry and | :28:15. | :28:23.
settled Monday and Tuesday. Up to 25 by Tuesday. | :28:23. | :28:30. |
