Hello, I'm Shaun Peel. Hundreds of workers from a

threatened factory in Northamptonshire are gatherhng this

afternoon for a crisis meethng. The owners of Solway Foods have

announced that more 560 jobs are to be lost at the company's pl`nt in

Corby. That's nearly two`thhrds of the workforce. Trade unions at the

factory, which packs salads for supermarkets, have organised a rally

at the Cube, the town's civhc centre. What the workforce want to

do is express their feelings and I think that is understandabld. I

suppose the rally is an opportunity for the union to speak to their

members and the employees of the company so people can give xour

opinion on how this has been handled.

Air accident investigators `re still at the scene of the helicopter crash

in Norfolk which has claimed four lives. The road next to the site of

the crash at Gillingham fin`lly reopened last night, nearly 24 hours

after the aircraft came down in a field, killing all those on board.

Among them, the multi`millionaire owner of Gillingham Hall, the Tory

peer Lord Ballyedmond. Cambridgeshire police are h`ving

talks with the far`right English Defence League today about their

plans to stage a march in Peterborough. It would be the second

such rally to be held by thd EDL in the city. In 2010, there were ten

arrests and the march was greeted by a counter`demonstration. Thd latest

plans for the end of the month have been condemned by the city's racial

equality council. Peterborotgh MP Stewart Jackson says the EDL are not

welcome in the city. A man's been charged by polhce

following a chemical alert hn Chelmsford. The incident in October

led to six people being takdn ill. A large quantity of chemicals were

discovered at a property in North Avenue. The 19`year`old has been

charged with producing a Cl`ss B drug and eight counts of possessing

drugs. On to football, and Norwich are

hoping to do the double over Southampton today. Nathan Rddmond's

goal back in August gave City a 1`nil win over the Saints. Norwich

have nine games left to sectre their place in the Premier League next

year. They're just four points above the drop`zone. We know we h`ve made

mistakes but there is no better way to do it, making a name for yourself

by scoring the winner or kedping a clean sheet. And that is wh`t it

takes. We need leaders, men, heroes. On to the Championship, and a

significant afternoon for Ipswich. Town who're ninth take on Whgan in

seventh. Both sides are gunning for the play`offs. Town are currently

four points off the pace. In League One, after finallx moving

out of the relegation zone, boss Graham Westley says he's targeting a

top`half finish for Stevenage, who travel to Carlisle. Colchester go to

Crawley while play`off rivals MK Dons play Peterborough.

Northampton, who're unbeaten in five, can draw closer to safety with

a win against Mansfield. Le`gue Two play`off chasers Southend, who

haven't won since the middld of January host Bury.

One rugby match today, Bedford are at Ealing, Northampton have a cup

final at Exeter tomorrow. OK, let's look at the weathdr.

around this morning but this afternoon and hopefully shotld see

Following on from what has been largely dry and settled week with

high pressure in charge, the weekend weather continues on that theme

too. Things are looking largely dry, not everywhere, but there will

be some warm sunshine on offer, particularly through the afternoons.

It will be feeling fairly breezy as well. The satellite image shows the

cloud has been thinning and breaking this morning, across Northern

Ireland, Wales and Northern Ireland. In terms of the Six Nations

rugby matches today, it should stay dry for all the matches. Cloudy

skies in Paris, but it should tend to brighten up as we head through

the remainder of the afternoon. This afternoon, quite a breeze blowing in

from the West. That bree is helping to break up the clouds. Sunshine

developing for Northern Ireland much of England and Wales, apart

from the far north of England, where we are holding onto a bit more

cloud. A weather front continues to bring outbreaks of rain across
