A man in his 30s is fighting for his life after being st`bbed

in Hitchin in the early hours of this morning.

Police have closed the fish pond Road off to the public and have told

them to avoid the area as they search for his attacker

Closed to the public and with limited access

for residents,

today Fishpond Road in Hitchen was a crime scend.

Police were called in the e`rly hours just before 2am.

A man in his 30s, thought to be from Hitchen, was taken to hospital

with serious stab wounds.

No one has been arrested and investigations are

ongoing to find the offenders.

Hertfordshire Police say the victim's condition has hmproved

since this morning.

It is no longer life-threatdning

but is described as critical but stable.

However, they say, they are not yet in a posithon

to interview him and question him about what happened.

The police are calling for anyone with information

to contact them on 101 or to contact Crimestoppers.

The mother and brother of the Suffolk missing airm`n

Corrie Mckeague have been h`nding out leaflets to Norwich Citx

football fans this afternoon in their desperate bid to fhnd him.

It's four weeks since the gtnner based at RAF Honington went missing.

He'd been on a night out in Bury St Edmunds.

Hopefully they know something or if they don't know about Corrie,

they will start coming forw`rd,

give information to the polhce.

But it is about trying to get Corrie's face

out there to people that might not know about this.

Corrie's face is just touchhng a lot of people's hearts and

they feel that they want to get behind us and they

are trying to help us.

Specialist equipment is being brought in to remove

the dead whale found on a beach in Norfolk.

The 40-foot fin whale was dhscovered on Thursday by wardens

at Holkham Nature Reserve.

Experts have been carrying out tests to find out how

the young female died.

Football and Norwich sufferdd a set back in their bid for a swift return

to the Premier League.

The Canaries lost at home to Preston 1-0.

Norwich are down to third with Newcastle still top

after beating Ipswich 3-0 at St James's Park.

In League One, the pressure increases on MK Dons manager

Karl Robinson whose side were beaten 3-0 at home to Southend.

Dons now without a home win in 13 matches.

In the other match Peterborough were brought back down to e`rth

after beating local rivals Northampton in midweek.

They lost 1-0 at home to AFC Wimbledon.

In League Two, four matches.

Cambridge United continued their good recent away form winning

2-1 at fellow strugglers Exdter

They're up to 18th.

It's now eight league and ctp games without a win for

Colchester who drew 2-2 at home to Morecambe.

The U's 15th.

Luton stay fourth after a 1,1 draw at home to Mansfield.

Stevenage are now third frol bottom.

They lost 2-1 at home to Carlisle.

Rugby Union and Northampton suffered a heavy defeat on the road hn France

in the Champions Cup.

Saints lost 41-7 to Castres conceding five tries.

Jim Mallinder's side had a lountain to climb at half time trailhng 0-0.

The only highlight from a S`ints point of view was James Wilson's

try late in the game.

Bedford Blues were in British and Irish Cup action.

London 2012 Olympic bronze ledallist Anthony Ogogo fights for his first

pro title tonight when he t`kes on Craig Cunningham in Birmhngham.

They'll meet to decide the vacant WBC International Middleweight belt.

The Lowestoft fighter has struggled with Achilles and shoulder hnjuries

for the past two years but he's won three straight fights

since a comeback in May.

It's massive.

I mean, I was brought up in a house, my mum, my four sisters,

we didn't have a lot.

We didn't have much money growing up.

I'm not a money orientated person, I'm driven by belts

and titles and reward and honour and prestige and this is wh`t this

belt is going to give me.

It's been a Saturday full of sunshine and showers.

We started on a misty note `nd then out towards the east,

we saw plenty of showers.

And that shower risk is going to continue overnight tonight,

out towards the east.

Clearer spells further west with the mist and fog.

Now, for tomorrow, that mist and fog will lift along

with the cloud.

We have still got these showers out towards the east coast

predominately, it is likely to stay drier the further inland yot are.

With some nice sunny spells in the afternoon, temperatures

struggling with an increasingly easterly breeze,

it is going to feel quite cool.

A maximum of 12 Celsius.

As we head into next week, the weather remains similar,

an easterly breeze for Mond`y and temperatures

stay in the low teens.
