Hello, and welcome to Thursday's so it's goodbye from me | :00:00. | :00:12.
Hello, and welcome to Thursday's Look North. Tonight: Three former | :00:13. | :00:15.
soldiers are told they're to be released from an Indian jail. | :00:16. | :00:19.
Hitachi moves its global rahl HQ to Britain ` will it mean more jobs for | :00:20. | :00:21.
the North? A warning that foot and mouth | :00:22. | :00:24.
disease could return if restrictions on the movement of livestock are | :00:25. | :00:28.
relaxed. I fear foot and motth will come back. It's not if it comes | :00:29. | :00:31.
back, it's when. Think before you drink. New measures | :00:32. | :00:35.
to help student revellers stay safe when they're out on the town. | :00:36. | :00:40.
And we meet the super`slimmdrs who lost ten stones ` just in thme for | :00:41. | :00:44.
their 20th wedding annivers`ry. In sport, Alan Pardew warns his | :00:45. | :00:47.
players about the dangers of betting after Dan Gosling's ?30,000 fine. | :00:48. | :00:52.
And the County Durham boxer hoping to become the first member of the | :00:53. | :00:56.
travelling community to lift a world title. | :00:57. | :01:09.
Five months of heartache ` but today, a breakthrough, with the news | :01:10. | :01:14.
that three former soldiers from our region are to be released from a | :01:15. | :01:18.
jail in India. Along with three other men, Nick Dunn from Ashington, | :01:19. | :01:21.
John Armstrong from Wigton, and Nicholas Simpson from Catterick | :01:22. | :01:26.
were working as anti`piracy guards. They were arrested, accused of | :01:27. | :01:28.
entering Indian waters illegally, and put into a prison their | :01:29. | :01:33.
relatives say is "beyond sqtalid". Today, though, they were told they'd | :01:34. | :01:37.
be bailed. Our chief reportdr, Chris Stewart, was with Mr Dunn's sister | :01:38. | :01:41.
shortly after the news came through. Lisa Dunn ` doing something she d | :01:42. | :01:46.
forgotten she could do ` smhle. Five months since you've done that. | :01:47. | :01:54.
How does it feel? Amazing. @mazing. But we're not there yet. Thdre is | :01:55. | :01:59.
still a long way to go. But at least it's going in the right | :02:00. | :02:02.
direction. These pictures show the moment Nick Dunn and five others | :02:03. | :02:05.
were arrested. Their ship, the Seaman Guard Ohio, was impotnded ` | :02:06. | :02:09.
and they were charged with hllegally entering Indian waters and hllegally | :02:10. | :02:14.
carrying firearms. Nick Dunn is a former para ` the others too all | :02:15. | :02:17.
former soldiers working for an American security company. The | :02:18. | :02:25.
announcement they'll be bailed came just two days after relativds of the | :02:26. | :02:29.
men descended on Downing Street with a petition calling on the Government | :02:30. | :02:32.
to do more to secure their release. It now looks more than likely that | :02:33. | :02:36.
within a week, the men will be out of a prison Lisa says is horrific. | :02:37. | :02:40.
Bail means at least he'll bd out of there, if still in India. Hd'll have | :02:41. | :02:44.
a little bit of freedom. He'll be able to sleep in a bed. He'll be | :02:45. | :02:53.
able to have a decent wash. It's so important that they get out of there | :02:54. | :03:00.
as soon as possible. But thdre've been setbacks before ` so the smile | :03:01. | :03:02.
isn't yet permanent. Is Japanese investment in otr region | :03:03. | :03:16.
going to be stronger than wd thought ` with the prospect of even more | :03:17. | :03:19.
jobs? Hitachi has revealed ht's moving the headquarters of hts | :03:20. | :03:24.
global rail business to Britain The firm's already building a plant at | :03:25. | :03:27.
Newton Aycliffe in County Dtrham. It won a multi`billion pound contract | :03:28. | :03:30.
last year to build new intercity trains there. Our political | :03:31. | :03:34.
correspondent, Mark Denten, joins us now from Newton Aycliffe. M`rk ` the | :03:35. | :03:39.
HQ will be in London. What light that mean for us here in thd North? | :03:40. | :03:49.
We are on a dead industrial state tonight, but this could be the site | :03:50. | :03:55.
of the industrial future, bdcause down there, the pictures of trains | :03:56. | :04:01.
will become a reality in a few years. They are building th`t ? 2 | :04:02. | :04:09.
million training, and 700 jobs will be here in Newton Aycliffe `t the | :04:10. | :04:14.
end of that line. They will not answer to bosses in Tokyo, but | :04:15. | :04:20.
bosses in London, because the global HQ of Hitachi will be in thd UK | :04:21. | :04:26.
Last year's Hitachi announcdment was a massive vote of confidencd in the | :04:27. | :04:31.
region. Now, even before it's been built, that confidence has gone up a | :04:32. | :04:34.
notch. Trains already on thd order books will be made here to run on | :04:35. | :04:38.
the East Coast mainline. Th`t contract alone means the pl`nt will | :04:39. | :04:44.
employ 750 people. The local MP says today's news could ` should ` mean | :04:45. | :04:51.
even more to come. Now it's a global business based in Newton Aycliffe. | :04:52. | :04:58.
It's not just a UK company with European aspirations for selling | :04:59. | :05:03.
trains to Europe, but now a global operation. It gives the cap`city to | :05:04. | :05:07.
go out and look for those contracts. It means more jobs. To | :05:08. | :05:15.
government eyes, ministers see a second foreign train builder making | :05:16. | :05:20.
a commitment like this as evidence this is a credible place to invest | :05:21. | :05:26.
in a recovering economy. Lots of trains are required, and Brhtain is | :05:27. | :05:30.
a good base for manufacturing over the world. The lessons they've | :05:31. | :05:34.
learned from this then, who have done very well here, is that Britain | :05:35. | :05:40.
is a good place to be. Like Nissan, it isn't just about the finhshed | :05:41. | :05:44.
product. The supply chain whll make many more jobs, down to the nuts and | :05:45. | :05:49.
bolts. A local company has been given this steel contract, so the | :05:50. | :05:55.
company itself will be bought with steel. Hitachi is likely to be a | :05:56. | :06:02.
contender to make trains for the HS2 project, and being more British will | :06:03. | :06:12.
do it more `` no more harm. They will put more emphasis on this | :06:13. | :06:15.
particular planned, and the real importance of using this as a | :06:16. | :06:17.
manufacturing base for the whole of Europe. Building trains is ` slow | :06:18. | :06:24.
and expensive business, but it means investment has to be long`tdrm. | :06:25. | :06:27.
Hitachi has signalled they `re here for the long haul. Hitachi says we | :06:28. | :06:38.
should not expect to see lots of people shifting from downtown Tokyo | :06:39. | :06:48.
to Uptown Newton Aycliffe. Ht is not cleared the number of addithonal | :06:49. | :06:50.
workers who will come to thd north`east, but one important thing | :06:51. | :06:53.
tonight is Hitachi have said they want to have the heart of their | :06:54. | :06:59.
global rail business in the UK, and a key part of that will be the | :07:00. | :07:03.
products in the coming years from here. Sounds good. | :07:04. | :07:11.
Peter Lawrence, the father of missing York University chef Claudia | :07:12. | :07:14.
Lawrence, says it would havd been more helpful if dramatic, ndw | :07:15. | :07:16.
information revealed on the BBC Crimewatch programme last nhght had | :07:17. | :07:20.
been known five years ago ` when his daughter vanished. But he s`ys he | :07:21. | :07:23.
has fresh hope detectives whll find answers following this latest appeal | :07:24. | :07:26.
for help. John Cundy reports. This could be hugely signifhcant. | :07:27. | :07:30.
This is from a witness who said on the morning of Claudia's | :07:31. | :07:32.
disappearance at 6:45 in thd morning, he saw a male described as | :07:33. | :07:36.
55 to 65, with grey hair, knee`length, and was wearing a | :07:37. | :07:38.
three`quarter length sandy`coloured mac. It is important to trace the | :07:39. | :07:45.
man. The dramatic statement on BBC's Crimewatch programme by the man | :07:46. | :07:47.
leading investigations into missing Claudia Lawrence, and there are | :07:48. | :07:51.
appeals now to trace a man who was seen to have been let into her house | :07:52. | :07:58.
the morning before she vanished Information is also being sought | :07:59. | :08:00.
about two vehicles, one in particular. These vehicles were | :08:01. | :08:08.
picked up on CCTV on the ro`d where Claudia lives. It was at 5:42 in the | :08:09. | :08:12.
morning. She would have been walking to work. That vehicle is believed to | :08:13. | :08:16.
be a light hatchback, and it breaks unexpectedly, we think near to her | :08:17. | :08:22.
house. We want to know why that vehicle did brake, who was hn it, | :08:23. | :08:26.
and did it stop to give her a lift to work. Is it something | :08:27. | :08:29.
significant? Claudia's fathdr, Peter, watched last night's | :08:30. | :08:32.
revelations, and he has his criticisms. I hope it will jog | :08:33. | :08:36.
someone's memory, but it's ` pity we weren't seeing it five years ago. If | :08:37. | :08:41.
any of this results in someone coming forward with any tinx bit of | :08:42. | :08:48.
information, it must give us hope. I feel that they have been so thorough | :08:49. | :08:51.
that they are going to make progress, and that's what the family | :08:52. | :08:57.
need. It is critical to the family? It is. It is affecting the family. | :08:58. | :09:03.
Detectives have reported a good public response so far to their | :09:04. | :09:06.
appeals for help over the mxsterious case of Claudia Lawrence. | :09:07. | :09:15.
Two coach firm bosses have been jailed after importing ?3 mhllion | :09:16. | :09:19.
worth of heroin on a bus trhp from Europe. Brothers Glen and G`ry | :09:20. | :09:23.
Wheatley, who ran the G and G Travel firm in Hetton, near Sunderland hid | :09:24. | :09:26.
12 kilos of heroin in a chalber built into one of their coaches It | :09:27. | :09:31.
was found by customs when G`ry Wheatley was bringing a bus full of | :09:32. | :09:35.
passengers into Dover. He w`s jailed for six years by Newcastle Crown | :09:36. | :09:39.
Court. Glen Wheatley was jahled for 12.5 years. | :09:40. | :09:45.
It's "only a matter of time" before foot and mouth disease returns to | :09:46. | :09:48.
Britain. That's the view of one Cumbrian farmer, as the Govdrnment | :09:49. | :09:51.
announces it's to lift movelent restrictions brought in aftdr the | :09:52. | :09:54.
devastating outbreak of 2000. Although some farmers and | :09:55. | :09:57.
politicians say abolishing the so`called "six`day rule" is the | :09:58. | :10:00.
right thing to do, others aren't so sure ` especially in Cumbri`, the | :10:01. | :10:04.
county worst hit by the disdase Mark McAlindon reports. | :10:05. | :10:09.
In 2001, foot and mouth was discovered on Les Armstrong's farm | :10:10. | :10:13.
in Cumbria's Eden Valley. Lhke thousands of others, he watched and | :10:14. | :10:17.
wept as his herd ` his life's work ` was destroyed. We should never | :10:18. | :10:21.
forget what happened, and wd should always be in a position to know | :10:22. | :10:25.
exactly what to do in futurd if it were to come back again, but no we | :10:26. | :10:29.
don't think about it now. Wd've moved on. But 13 years on, he says | :10:30. | :10:34.
it's time the six`day rule ` which means no animal can be taken off the | :10:35. | :10:39.
farm in that time once new ones have arrived ` was lifted. It was brought | :10:40. | :10:43.
in on the back of foot and louth because they had to be more | :10:44. | :10:46.
disciplined. That's why it was brought in. The arguments are | :10:47. | :10:52.
different now. Now it's mord important to know where cattle have | :10:53. | :10:55.
been rather than how long they've been on the farm. But not mtch more | :10:56. | :11:01.
than 20 miles away, across country where pyres once burned and farms | :11:02. | :11:04.
diagnosed with the disease fell like dominoes, there are others who | :11:05. | :11:08.
aren't convinced. Mother hasn't got enough milk at the moment. Susan | :11:09. | :11:12.
Aglionby lost her animals too in the dark days of 2001. I walked across | :11:13. | :11:17.
the fields here and I saw btrning all around. I woke up one morning, | :11:18. | :11:22.
knew we got the disease, and it s a day I will never ever forget in my | :11:23. | :11:28.
life. For Susan, even now, vigilance is all. I fear foot and mouth will | :11:29. | :11:34.
come back. It's not a matter of if, it's when it comes back. Thdre will | :11:35. | :11:40.
be other diseases out there as well, and anything we can do in a very | :11:41. | :11:44.
basic way to control infecthon is very, very important. This hs an | :11:45. | :11:50.
argument not about ends but about means. For some, the memorids of | :11:51. | :11:55.
2001 are still raw and painful. But others clearly believe some | :11:56. | :11:57.
restrictions can be safely removed because farming is very different | :11:58. | :12:00.
now, 13 years on from the devastating outbreak. Others say in | :12:01. | :12:05.
their view, sensible precautions must remain. | :12:06. | :12:14.
Mark is here now. So, Mark, is there a real prospect | :12:15. | :12:18.
of foot and mouth returning to Cumbrian farms? I think everyone | :12:19. | :12:22.
agrees there is always the possibility. You can't be too | :12:23. | :12:26.
careful. The DCs has not bedn eradicated. `` the disease. Liz says | :12:27. | :12:37.
getting rid of the six`day rule won't lead to the return of foot and | :12:38. | :12:42.
mouth disease. He says the key now is knowing where animals have been | :12:43. | :12:45.
all stop we have electronic data to track movement. The real concern in | :12:46. | :12:54.
the farming community is new diseases. Susan also said continued | :12:55. | :13:04.
reassurance to keep farms f`rming is the key. TEASE Still to comd ` Dawn | :13:05. | :13:11.
Thewlis joins me for Thursd`y's sports news. | :13:12. | :13:13.
Plus a real slimline tonic ` the couple who shed ten stones `nd won a | :13:14. | :13:18.
national award for their efforts. It is almost the weekend. I will be | :13:19. | :13:24.
here with a full forecast. Just how CAN York and its rhvers be | :13:25. | :13:28.
made safer? That's the question an urgent summit meeting of police | :13:29. | :13:31.
councillors and student leaders will be trying to answer next wedk. It | :13:32. | :13:34.
follows the recent disappearance of Ben Clarkson, and the death of | :13:35. | :13:37.
student Megan Roberts ` whose body was found in the River Ouse. It s | :13:38. | :13:41.
hoped new measures will redtce casualties and help those who've had | :13:42. | :13:44.
too much to drink. Phil Connell spent last night with young | :13:45. | :13:48.
revellers on the streets of York, and has compiled tonight's Look | :13:49. | :13:52.
North report. It's a Wednesday night in York, and | :13:53. | :13:56.
the city's students are out in force. In certain venues, it is an | :13:57. | :14:00.
official student night, meaning drink prices are cheaper, and many | :14:01. | :14:03.
students are willing to takd advantage. It's really easy. You can | :14:04. | :14:14.
come out with a lot, really solid. What does that mean? Get drtnk. In | :14:15. | :14:19.
recent weeks, the disappear`nces of Ben Clarkson and the death of | :14:20. | :14:22.
student Megan Roberts has r`ised concerns about safety. Megan's body | :14:23. | :14:27.
was recovered from the River Ouse. On the night she disappeared, it was | :14:28. | :14:30.
believed she had been drinkhng heavily. But York say in an A | :14:31. | :14:36.
department, those coming in with drink`related problems were aged | :14:37. | :14:41.
between 15 and 81. For thosd treated, 16% had been affected by | :14:42. | :14:46.
alcohol. And during freshers week, 40% of those were students. Tonight, | :14:47. | :14:53.
it is quiet, although staff are well aware of the problems alcohol can | :14:54. | :14:57.
bring. I've had a set of shoes weed on by one individual who was too | :14:58. | :15:03.
drunk to know what he was doing As an A consultant, what would you | :15:04. | :15:07.
like to see happen? Maybe in the areas where it is more common for | :15:08. | :15:10.
people to come acropper, thdre may be something needed to reduce the | :15:11. | :15:18.
likelihood someone will fall in So what can be done to make York and | :15:19. | :15:22.
its rivers safer? Next week, an urgent meeting is being held with | :15:23. | :15:25.
police, the council and student leaders. The scheme that is being | :15:26. | :15:30.
pioneered in Newcastle is one idea that could soon be implemented here. | :15:31. | :15:37.
The scheme, operated by Northumbria Police, aims at prevention, with | :15:38. | :15:39.
doormen being trained to spot and help vulnerable young peopld. It is | :15:40. | :15:46.
a scheme which North Yorkshhre's commissioner thinks will also work | :15:47. | :15:52.
in York. It's not just lookhng at what's going on in York at the | :15:53. | :15:55.
moment, but also looking wider and saying, "What can we learn from | :15:56. | :15:59.
elsewhere to bring in new things that might try to prevent some of | :16:00. | :16:02.
these problems from happening in the first instance?" In America, the | :16:03. | :16:05.
problem is being tackled by so`called "drunk tanks", a place to | :16:06. | :16:10.
house people until they sobdr up. In the next few weeks, York will have | :16:11. | :16:14.
its own version of the drunk tank. Officials prefer to call it "the | :16:15. | :16:17.
community medical unit" ` a place that will offer free help and | :16:18. | :16:20.
support for people who have been injured or have one too manx drinks. | :16:21. | :16:27.
There is the awkward middle ground, as we call it, where people are too | :16:28. | :16:32.
drunk to get a taxi because the driver won't take them, but not bad | :16:33. | :16:35.
enough to merit an ambulancd, because those services are stretched | :16:36. | :16:38.
as it is. The real proof of action is going to be when things `re set | :16:39. | :16:43.
up. I hope the media will still do interviews come September and | :16:44. | :16:46.
October to see if people have been true to their word. With two people | :16:47. | :16:49.
drowning in York's rivers e`ch year, it is still seen as a relathvely | :16:50. | :16:53.
safe city. It's hoped over the coming weeks, new ideas and | :16:54. | :17:02.
investment can make it even safer. Now, they're a super slimming couple | :17:03. | :17:06.
from Sunderland ` and they've lost more than ten stones between them to | :17:07. | :17:09.
lift a national slimming title just in time for their 20th weddhng | :17:10. | :17:13.
anniversary. This is Graeme and Lisa Wharton on their wedding dax. And | :17:14. | :17:20.
this is them today. Fantasthc. Lisa's dropped from 15 stonds and | :17:21. | :17:24.
6.5 pounds to ten stones and 8. pounds, making her four stones and | :17:25. | :17:29.
12 pounds lighter. And she's gone from dress size 18`20 to 12. | :17:30. | :17:31.
Graeme's dropped from 19 stones and ten pounds to 14 stones and four | :17:32. | :17:36.
pounds. So he's lost five stones and six pounds, and his waist h`s | :17:37. | :17:40.
slimmed from 48 inches to 34. That's a combined weight loss of tdn stones | :17:41. | :17:43.
and four pounds ` and they've been crowned Slimming World's Cotple of | :17:44. | :17:46.
the Year. Our reporter Stephanie Cleasby's with them now. | :17:47. | :17:57.
Yes, Graham and Lisa are both as light as they have ever been, | :17:58. | :18:01.
because they've swapped a dhet of chocolate and crisps for | :18:02. | :18:06.
alternatives and exercise. Let's find out what they are cookhng in | :18:07. | :18:10.
the kitchen. Something hope `` healthy, I hope. Big bowls of | :18:11. | :18:18.
tomato, mushroom and pasta sauce. How does this compare to wh`t you | :18:19. | :18:23.
would eat a year or two ago? We would normally get something out of | :18:24. | :18:26.
the freezer, put it in the microwave. So you are healthy and | :18:27. | :18:32.
now? You have lost over ten strains between you. What is the secret to | :18:33. | :18:37.
your success? It is joining together. I'm a taxi driver, and the | :18:38. | :18:48.
fast food around the taxi r`nks was a problem. We do it together. If I'm | :18:49. | :18:57.
in from work first, I will cook tea. If it's the other way around, we | :18:58. | :19:03.
will do the opposite. Do yot feel better? Totally different. We are | :19:04. | :19:09.
doing the ten kilometres, the Great North Road. Exercise is a bhg thing. | :19:10. | :19:21.
I do boot camps. I really enjoy it. Doing the weight`loss classds as a | :19:22. | :19:24.
couple, does that mean you've had a lot of support from each other, or | :19:25. | :19:31.
is their competition? A bit of both. But the group are supportivd. Wendy | :19:32. | :19:36.
is a fantastic consultant. Ht makes a big difference. As a blokd, it is | :19:37. | :19:42.
intimidating walking through the door. As well as being couple of the | :19:43. | :19:46.
year, you were celebrating 20 years together. A long time. A very long | :19:47. | :19:55.
time. Training for the great North run, so you are now focused on | :19:56. | :20:00.
staying healthy? Absolutely. We are committed now. A fit future? | :20:01. | :20:09.
Exactly. Thank you for talkhng to us. They are focused on leading a | :20:10. | :20:13.
happy and healthy life, and beating you in the great North run. I'm sure | :20:14. | :20:18.
they will. Thank you very much. | :20:19. | :20:22.
Forty pupils from Teesside High School set themselves the t`rget of | :20:23. | :20:25.
swimming the length of the Dnglish Channel today. Former British Record | :20:26. | :20:28.
Holder ` Daniel Johnson ` w`s there to give them support. They lanaged | :20:29. | :20:32.
to do so many lengths, they covered the distance to France and back | :20:33. | :20:35.
again! They swam up and down the pool almost 3000 times ` all in aid | :20:36. | :20:39.
of BBC Sport Relief. If kids can get in, it's a great | :20:40. | :20:43.
sport to be in. How many laps have you swum? 96. Tired? Yeah. How did | :20:44. | :20:51.
you feel when you finished? Quite proud of myself. 56 lengths? Yes. | :20:52. | :20:59.
Feel tired? No. Why not? I've been swimming since I was four. Well the | :21:00. | :21:05.
big Sport Relief day is tomorrow, and a whole range of stunts and | :21:06. | :21:09.
events are planned across the North. One of the more unusual ways of | :21:10. | :21:12.
raising money involves the BBC Tees Breakfast Show presenter, formerly | :21:13. | :21:15.
known as Alistair Brownlee. The station's Middlesbrough Football | :21:16. | :21:17.
Club commentator has offici`lly changed his name to "Up the Boro" | :21:18. | :21:20.
Brownlee by deed`poll. The name`change was given the official | :21:21. | :21:22.
seal of approval by Middlesbrough Head Coach Aitor Karanka, who was on | :21:23. | :21:26.
hand to witness the signing of the documents. I wonder if he knows what | :21:27. | :21:38.
that is about. What else is in sport? | :21:39. | :21:43.
It'll be the first time two boxers from the North East have fotght each | :21:44. | :21:46.
other for an officially recognised world title. Reigning champhon, | :21:47. | :21:49.
Darlington's Stuie Hall, will make his first defence of the IBF | :21:50. | :21:52.
Bantamweight belt he won just before Christmas against another County | :21:53. | :21:55.
Durham fighter hoping to wrhte his own name into boxing folklore. Mark | :21:56. | :21:58.
Tulip's been to meet him. Just turned 26, Martin Ward, who | :21:59. | :22:01.
lives near Durham, says he's in the prime of his life. He's also bidding | :22:02. | :22:05.
to become the first member of the travelling community to lift a world | :22:06. | :22:09.
boxing title, which he says he would parade at the Appleby Horse Fair | :22:10. | :22:14.
this summer. To be a world champion is massive, but it will be ` big | :22:15. | :22:21.
buzz for me and the family, because it means a lot. Most travellers do | :22:22. | :22:31.
have a goal, and I have a shot at the boxing, so there is big | :22:32. | :22:36.
interest. I think there will be plenty of interest there. Lhke the | :22:37. | :22:39.
champion Stuie Hall, whom hd used to spar with, Martin has found himself | :22:40. | :22:43.
at the front of the long qudue to get his big chance much quicker than | :22:44. | :22:47.
expected. I've been lucky to jump the queue and get a shot. Stewie was | :22:48. | :22:55.
lucky to get in and take thd shot, so now it is my turn. I havd the | :22:56. | :23:00.
chance, so hopefully I can step in and take it. Experienced Hartlepool | :23:01. | :23:03.
trainer Neil Fannan has brotght in a world`class sparring partner. South | :23:04. | :23:05.
African Tshifhiwa Munyai, or Mr T, has beaten Lee Haskins ` thd former | :23:06. | :23:09.
Commonwealth champion who inflicted rare defeats on both Martin and | :23:10. | :23:13.
Stuie Hall. But ahead of thd big fight at the Newcastle Aren` a week | :23:14. | :23:17.
on Saturday, what do the falily think? It's nonstop boxing hn my | :23:18. | :23:26.
family. It's all we talk about. From the mini `` moment we get up in the | :23:27. | :23:32.
morning, it is about who was fighting on the weekend, so it is | :23:33. | :23:35.
nonstop talk about boxing. Sometimes it gets a bit much. We love boxing. | :23:36. | :23:44.
I've been boxing since I was 11 years old. It is a big part of the | :23:45. | :23:51.
family and for all of us. You wait so many years through new boxing | :23:52. | :23:54.
champion and to come along `t once. It will be a host Eric fight. `` a | :23:55. | :24:02.
historic fight. Sunderland striker Steven Fletcher | :24:03. | :24:04.
will miss Saturday's relegation six`pointer at Norwich. Fletcher | :24:05. | :24:07.
twisted his ankle in last wdek's goalless draw with Crystal Palace, | :24:08. | :24:10.
and the severity of the injtry won't be known until a scan next week | :24:11. | :24:13.
Meanwhile, Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has revealed that thd club | :24:14. | :24:17.
will be taking no further action against midfielder Dan Goslhng, who | :24:18. | :24:19.
was fined ?30,000 yesterday by the Football Association for brdaching | :24:20. | :24:22.
betting rules. Gosling had `dmitted a misconduct charge after bdtting on | :24:23. | :24:25.
the outcome of matches ` although they didn't include games involving | :24:26. | :24:28.
Newcastle or Blackpool, where he was on loan earlier in the season. | :24:29. | :24:32.
No, I think he's got his punishment, and I think it hurt. It's something | :24:33. | :24:36.
I had to remind the squad about because it's important that we don't | :24:37. | :24:39.
bet on Champion League games in any shape or form, whether it's an | :24:40. | :24:47.
accumulated bet or whatever. It s irrelevant, and I made that clear to | :24:48. | :24:56.
the squad, and it needed to happen. Time for the weather. It is turning | :24:57. | :24:59.
a bit chilly. The spring equinox today ovdr the | :25:00. | :25:12.
next few days. The days will become longer than the night. It whll be | :25:13. | :25:18.
chillier tomorrow with showdrs and breeze. It is the wind that makes it | :25:19. | :25:22.
feel cold. Overnight, showers are wintry over the tops of the North | :25:23. | :25:29.
Pennines. The snow line tonhght around 400 metres, well over 10 0 | :25:30. | :25:35.
feet. No lying snow in towns, cities or villages. Overnight tonight, | :25:36. | :25:40.
possibly a touch of frost. Temperatures falling to just a | :25:41. | :25:43.
couple of degrees above fredzing. Through the morning, bright and | :25:44. | :25:46.
breezy for most parts, and travellers from overnight h`ve | :25:47. | :25:48.
cleared away. Three lunchtile and the afternoon, shall start to spread | :25:49. | :25:54.
into the West, increasingly splashing their way from Culbria | :25:55. | :25:56.
across North Yorkshire and the East. Let's take it to. The top | :25:57. | :26:03.
temperature around nine Celsius Feeling colder because of that | :26:04. | :26:08.
strong south`westerly wind. Up over 20 or 25 mph in the north`e`st and | :26:09. | :26:13.
in Cumbria as well with gusts lasting a few seconds, posshbly | :26:14. | :26:17.
stronger than this. Just seven Celsius on the Cumbrian coast. | :26:18. | :26:20.
Feeling colder because of that strong wind chill. Let's take a look | :26:21. | :26:24.
at the precious sequence. The big picture. Low pressure domin`ting the | :26:25. | :26:30.
forecast, and another weathdr systems snaking across the TK | :26:31. | :26:33.
through Saturday. It could bring more showers for Cumbria and cloud | :26:34. | :26:39.
in the East. Then a ridge of high pressure will start to settle | :26:40. | :26:43.
whether through Sunday, and into Monday. It will not last, though. | :26:44. | :26:47.
Another pressure system will cross us on Tuesday and Wednesday, but | :26:48. | :26:53.
beautifully sunny through Monday. The UK`based in golden sunshine It | :26:54. | :26:58.
will feel springlike. Let's take a look at the detail over the | :26:59. | :27:01.
weekend. In Cumbria, we are expecting heavy showers on Saturday. | :27:02. | :27:05.
Some bright spells in betwedn the showers. Without breeze, fedling | :27:06. | :27:09.
cold, and those showers oncd again over the tops will be wintrx. Sunday | :27:10. | :27:15.
a brighter day. Bright spells and fewer showers where they do fall. | :27:16. | :27:19.
They will be lighter as well. Cloudy on Saturday. Sunday probablx the | :27:20. | :27:24.
best day of the two over thd weekend, and then Monday looks | :27:25. | :27:27.
glorious. Long spells of spring sunshine. | :27:28. | :27:33.
That's not too bad. I was worried there for a moment. I should have | :27:34. | :27:39.
pruned my roses. That's the gardening over. See you tomorrow. | :27:40. | :27:40.
Goodbye. | :27:41. | :27:46. |
