Welcome to Friday's Look North. In tonight's headlines: A life sentence | :00:00. | :00:08.
for a man obsessed by the lottery. He murdered his neighbour. She was a | :00:09. | :00:13.
pensioner who tried to help him. Local election results. No councils | :00:14. | :00:17.
change hands. Labour continue to dominate and UKIP win two seats in | :00:18. | :00:22.
Hartlepool. Ready for home. The country's young heart patient is | :00:23. | :00:25.
leaving hospital for the very first time. Parking patrols. | :00:26. | :00:30.
Schoolchildren ticket dangerously parked cars following concerns over | :00:31. | :00:43.
safety. The forecast later. In sport, Durham are hoping for a | :00:44. | :00:46.
rain`free weekend, with England's cricketers in town on Sunday. But | :00:47. | :00:49.
will the merger of rugby league and rugby union go down a storm as | :00:50. | :00:52.
Thunder join forces with the Falcons? | :00:53. | :01:04.
Murdered for just ?30 by a man who'd blown his benefits on the national | :01:05. | :01:12.
lottery. It's a tragic story. Rose Doughty, who was 72, was killed at | :01:13. | :01:16.
her flat in the Netherfields area of Middlesbrough by a neighbour, | :01:17. | :01:20.
41`year`old Christian Darko. He was a man she'd repeatedly helped. Darko | :01:21. | :01:24.
admitted killing her, but said it was manslaughter because of | :01:25. | :01:27.
diminished reponsibility. A jury this afternoon decided it was | :01:28. | :01:31.
murder. He was given life and will serve a minimum of 27 years. Our | :01:32. | :01:35.
Chief Reporter Chris Stewart has the story. | :01:36. | :01:39.
A man so consumed by greed it would cost a kindly neighbour her life. | :01:40. | :01:43.
Christian Darko came from Ghana and didn't like Teesside. His plan was | :01:44. | :01:48.
to win the National Lottery to pay for a move to London. And that's | :01:49. | :01:55.
where his money went. How much exactly? His benefits were ?75 a | :01:56. | :02:03.
week and of that ?60 went on lottery tickets. He had convinced himself | :02:04. | :02:07.
the big win was just around the corner. It's the day of the murder | :02:08. | :02:11.
and Darko's leaves his flat to go upstairs to ask Rose Doughty for | :02:12. | :02:14.
money. But in the carrier bag, there's a knife. And when she | :02:15. | :02:17.
refuses this time to hand over any cash, he kills her. He takes ?30 | :02:18. | :02:21.
from her handbag within ten minutes, he'd be spending some of that money | :02:22. | :02:25.
on more lottery tickets. Mrs Doughty's daughter says there could | :02:26. | :02:33.
only be one verdict. He went up there with the intention to kill our | :02:34. | :02:37.
wonderful mother. He did it out of greed. It had to be murder and not | :02:38. | :02:41.
manslaughter because he murdered her. Your mum was a kind woman in a | :02:42. | :02:50.
way because she was kind he went back to be pestered again and again? | :02:51. | :02:55.
If she was not kind she would not be dead. She was a good neighbour and | :02:56. | :03:03.
lent him a flask with hot water the night before, we are talking about | :03:04. | :03:08.
the winter months and had no electricity due to him spending his | :03:09. | :03:13.
disposable income being spent on the lottery. So a kind grandmother who | :03:14. | :03:16.
paid a dreadful price for that kindness. That, says her family, | :03:17. | :03:26.
makes her loss even harder to bear. Finally they're all in. The region's | :03:27. | :03:30.
local election results have been declared. And while UKIP has two new | :03:31. | :03:34.
councillors in Hartlepool and came second in many wards across the | :03:35. | :03:37.
region it didn't make a wider breakthrough. Here's the final | :03:38. | :03:44.
picture tonight. Labour held on to all its councils and the | :03:45. | :03:46.
Conservatives maintained their grip in Harrogate. And while high profile | :03:47. | :03:52.
Lib Dems kept their Newcastle seats the party struggled elsewhere | :03:53. | :03:54.
finishing sixth in one Carlisle ward. So nine councils held | :03:55. | :04:00.
elections. None changed hands and out of the 175 seats up for grabs | :04:01. | :04:04.
across the North East and Cumbria it was a good night for Labour. With | :04:05. | :04:09.
the round`up of a long night and the morning after here's our Political | :04:10. | :04:17.
Correspondent Mark Denten. Tonight 's political weather report, no | :04:18. | :04:21.
earthquakes but a few political casualties. In Hartlepool UKIP | :04:22. | :04:26.
picked up two seats, one from Labour and one from the independents. | :04:27. | :04:32.
People are voting for UKIP because we are a national party with a lot | :04:33. | :04:37.
of new and positive ideas for the way the country needs to be run. We | :04:38. | :04:42.
are beginning to resonate with the local population. But that was the | :04:43. | :04:48.
high point for UKIP. There was a lot of second places but no more seats. | :04:49. | :04:53.
In Sunderland, the party picked up more than 30% of the votes. Labour | :04:54. | :04:59.
held the council but the man lost his seat to an independent. The | :05:00. | :05:05.
elections were close and there have been over the last 12 years. It was | :05:06. | :05:10.
one of those things where I knew it would have to go right to the wire, | :05:11. | :05:15.
70 votes in it that's all. The Conservatives gained a seat, but | :05:16. | :05:21.
lost one as well. We have coming with a councils and will go out with | :05:22. | :05:26.
eight councillors. We have been able to increase our majority quite | :05:27. | :05:29.
considerably. Overall it has been a good night. In Carlisle, Labour held | :05:30. | :05:37.
the council and gained one seat. The Conservatives were unchanged. The | :05:38. | :05:41.
two politicians locked in that general election both found reasons | :05:42. | :05:49.
to be cheerful. We held our own and within the city council especially | :05:50. | :05:52.
so it is a good result. We held overseas we hope to hold and our | :05:53. | :05:59.
votes have held up to. It is a good base going forward to the general | :06:00. | :06:02.
election next year. The Lib Dems were brutally exposed, not only | :06:03. | :06:07.
losing a seat but coming six as well. Their tally was only 31 votes. | :06:08. | :06:14.
At the end of the day it is pretty dismal for us. But that is politics | :06:15. | :06:18.
isn't it. I think things could turn around. There was better news for | :06:19. | :06:25.
the Lib Dems in South Lakeland. They only lost one seat. In Newcastle | :06:26. | :06:33.
those relieved faces tell it all. The Lib Dems get their sees thereto. | :06:34. | :06:38.
We know one or two seats were targeted by the labours, mine was | :06:39. | :06:41.
one of them so we're pleased to have one. We are pleased Newcastle have | :06:42. | :06:49.
faith in the Liberal Democrats. 24 councillors which is enough to hold | :06:50. | :06:53.
and ministry in to account which is exactly what we will continue to do. | :06:54. | :06:58.
Labour gained a seat in North Tyneside, cue a happy Labour mayor. | :06:59. | :07:03.
We have held onto our seas and gain two. I think any other counties will | :07:04. | :07:09.
have done that. There was disappointment for Tyneside, the | :07:10. | :07:16.
former mayor could not get back on the council beaten by Labour. Better | :07:17. | :07:20.
news for her colleagues 80 miles south. They held Harrogate council, | :07:21. | :07:27.
once again a story of UKIP coming second but with no wins. We have | :07:28. | :07:32.
come second and we're reasonably idol of winning, but nationally we | :07:33. | :07:40.
have had a good day. Labour stayed strong in Tyneside and Gateshead | :07:41. | :07:44.
holding 18 seats and losing once an independent. In Gateshead there was | :07:45. | :07:54.
no change, Labour and Lib Dems kept the same seats. No political | :07:55. | :07:57.
earthquakes or councils shifted, also scratching their heads trying | :07:58. | :08:01.
to work out the political weather forecast. | :08:02. | :08:04.
Our political editor Richard Moss joins me now. Richard, what do these | :08:05. | :08:12.
results mean? Good question. On the face nothing much has changed. | :08:13. | :08:15.
Labour still dominate and the Lib Dems took another hit. The | :08:16. | :08:20.
Conservatives are main strong in areas where they have often been | :08:21. | :08:25.
strong. We have the UKIP factor though T. What does this mean. They | :08:26. | :08:32.
polled well but have no seats. They wanted to build a bridge to these | :08:33. | :08:36.
councils to gain seats on them. Their opposition can turn around and | :08:37. | :08:39.
say you voted UKIP but they did not get anywhere. What they hope is the | :08:40. | :08:46.
will be cracks in the foundation so voting UKIP will become habit. There | :08:47. | :08:52.
is an antiestablishment feeling. In Copeland in West Cumbria there was a | :08:53. | :08:57.
referendum to have and are elected mayor. This council has been | :08:58. | :09:00.
controlled by Labour for 35 years but now the control is under threat. | :09:01. | :09:07.
They wanted an elected mayor, the first authority to buy one of these | :09:08. | :09:12.
since 2001. When you are run by an elected mayor or whatever party, | :09:13. | :09:17.
what does not change the budget cuts on how to manage these. We still | :09:18. | :09:22.
have the European elections as well. What can we expect from those? That | :09:23. | :09:27.
could be great news for UKIP. The polling shows they have a chance to | :09:28. | :09:36.
get the first MEP in the North. The rest of the combination, Labour | :09:37. | :09:39.
should judging by these figures come top of the pile in the north`east. | :09:40. | :09:43.
All these parties will be studying this to look at the next back set of | :09:44. | :09:50.
elections, crucial seats I Carlisle and Stockton South which Labour need | :09:51. | :09:53.
to win to get into power. Thanks Richard. And there'll be more | :09:54. | :09:55.
analysis of the local election results in Sunday Politics at | :09:56. | :10:07.
23.00PM on BBC One. A woman's body was recovered from | :10:08. | :10:12.
the River Tyne this morning although formal identification has not been | :10:13. | :10:18.
identified yet. She has been missing from a home in Byker since May the | :10:19. | :10:23.
2nd. A coroner's ruled that a 17`year`old | :10:24. | :10:27.
boy whose body was discovered on a Cumbrian beach killed himself after | :10:28. | :10:29.
receiving violent threats on Facebook. | :10:30. | :10:31.
Callum Moody`Chapman from Grimsby went missing from his aunt's home in | :10:32. | :10:34.
Maryport just days before last Christmas. A postmortem found that | :10:35. | :10:39.
he'd drowned. Today an inquest heard he'd sobbed as he read threats made | :10:40. | :10:46.
on the social media site. Callum Moody Chapman, was described as a | :10:47. | :10:49.
happy`go`lucky boy, who loved his family and put others before | :10:50. | :10:55.
himself. Keen on skateboarding and riding his BMX, Callum had no | :10:56. | :10:59.
problem making friends. You never could meet another boy like him, if | :11:00. | :11:03.
he got into trouble at school he wouldn't be in trouble long because | :11:04. | :11:07.
he knew how to work his charm. You know, he was unbelievable. But one | :11:08. | :11:10.
weekend last December his life was turned upside down when he read | :11:11. | :11:14.
threats to stab and beat him on Facebook. He was so troubled by it a | :11:15. | :11:22.
coroner decided today, he killed himself. After today's hearing, | :11:23. | :11:26.
Callum's mum and dad said cyber bullying had taken their son's life. | :11:27. | :11:31.
From what I would say to parents is, I know you don't like trying to be | :11:32. | :11:35.
nosy and look into your child's personal accounts or whatever, but | :11:36. | :11:39.
you have to look out for the signs, the signs of bullying. The cyber | :11:40. | :11:46.
bullying going on at the moment is rife. There are people out there | :11:47. | :11:50.
that do it, they use Facebook as a weapon not as what it should be used | :11:51. | :11:57.
for friends and for genuine chats. The evidence Callum's family heard | :11:58. | :12:02.
was harrowing. The night he disappeared, he came to the harbour | :12:03. | :12:05.
here crying and sobbing, he made two phone calls. One was to's older | :12:06. | :12:10.
brother Robert to say yet messed up his life and he was sorry and asked | :12:11. | :12:14.
his brother to say goodbye to his baby niece. The second call was to | :12:15. | :12:19.
his father Kevin, he said simply, dad I love you. One 17`year`old boy | :12:20. | :12:24.
who cannot be named for legal reasons, earlier this year pleaded | :12:25. | :12:27.
guilty for charges of assault and offences under the malicious | :12:28. | :12:31.
Communications act. A baby thought to be one of the | :12:32. | :12:41.
a baby thought to be one of the youngest in the world to undergo | :12:42. | :12:47.
open`heart surgery is now well enough to go home. Chanel Murrish | :12:48. | :12:51.
had just been born when open heart surgery was carried out to save her | :12:52. | :12:54.
life, with another seven hour operation only a week later. Only | :12:55. | :12:58.
half of her heart had developed. 50 medical experts have been involved | :12:59. | :13:01.
in saving her. Here's our health reporter, Sharon Barbour. Watching | :13:02. | :13:05.
her baby sleep peacefully is a sight this mother feared she may never | :13:06. | :13:09.
see. A scan when Fay Murrish was pregnant revealed only half her | :13:10. | :13:14.
baby's heart had developed. Her chances of survival were low. I was | :13:15. | :13:23.
given three options, we could terminate the pregnancy, we could go | :13:24. | :13:27.
on with the pregnancy and give birth naturally and go away without any | :13:28. | :13:30.
intervention. Or we could take every option and every medical procedure | :13:31. | :13:37.
to help. But something remarkable happened. They saw what appeared to | :13:38. | :13:41.
be their baby give the thumbs`up from the womb and believed she was | :13:42. | :13:44.
telling her parents everything was ok. They decided to do everything | :13:45. | :13:50.
they could to save her with the help of around 50 medical experts in | :13:51. | :13:59.
Newcastle. There was a big crowd behind us, I had a team with me. She | :14:00. | :14:07.
outshone me completely. She had a big crowd in the corner already to | :14:08. | :14:11.
grab her as soon as they cut the cord. Her cry turn to a gasp and all | :14:12. | :14:17.
I heard was somebody shouts get out of here we do not have time. Lots of | :14:18. | :14:24.
different specialists were there involved. The intense this tier, the | :14:25. | :14:28.
other cardiologists, the cardiac surgeons, lots of expertise with | :14:29. | :14:31.
everybody pulling together to try and arrange things so I delivery was | :14:32. | :14:36.
as smooth as possible. The baby was resuscitated and then ventilated as | :14:37. | :14:40.
well, the surgeon opened her chest afterwards. After this life`saving | :14:41. | :14:48.
open`heart surgery, this was the moment she opened her eyes five days | :14:49. | :14:53.
later. Two days later, she underwent another seven hour open`heart | :14:54. | :14:58.
operation against the risks were high. Now at three months old, | :14:59. | :15:04.
Chanel, the youngest baby in the world to undergo major heart surgery | :15:05. | :15:11.
is ready to go home. There she will need more operations and possibly a | :15:12. | :15:15.
transplant in the future. For now though, after such a scary start, | :15:16. | :15:22.
Chanel number five member of the family is going home at last. It | :15:23. | :15:29.
makes you take every day at a time and we are very grateful. She is a | :15:30. | :15:40.
picture isn't she? Now it's often claimed there are too many charity | :15:41. | :15:43.
shops on our high streets. Well, a north east charity is about to | :15:44. | :15:47.
expand the concept by opening a charity supermarket possibly the | :15:48. | :15:49.
first in the country. Our Business Correspondent Ian Reeve reports. | :15:50. | :15:54.
There are more than 10,000 charity shops in the country. Bu it has been | :15:55. | :15:59.
claimed only one charity warehouse. It is here on the outskirts of | :16:00. | :16:02.
Stockton, selling from a vast space to raise cash, for a charity that | :16:03. | :16:07.
helps families affected by autism. Primarily it is a fundraising | :16:08. | :16:10.
exercise, but we wanted to be a hub for parents and supporters so they | :16:11. | :16:16.
can meet and share issues. Hopefully also buy something and obviously | :16:17. | :16:19.
donate things because we want things donated for other people to buy. For | :16:20. | :16:24.
Mr Dicken, the warehouse is a return to the poor track area of Stockton. | :16:25. | :16:29.
A place once home to a major part of his DIY empire. Come to Dickens home | :16:30. | :16:35.
improvement hypermarket at Stockton. You will realise why people say | :16:36. | :16:39.
there is nothing else like it in the country. Unlike in those days, there | :16:40. | :16:44.
will only be one paid staff member here. The charity needs about ?1 | :16:45. | :16:49.
million a year. 20 volunteers will keep it going. I think people come, | :16:50. | :16:54.
and feel engaged. It will be a huge superstar, there is a lot of | :16:55. | :16:57.
organisation and logistics going into it but we have a tremendous | :16:58. | :17:00.
team of volunteers that are dedicating all of their time and | :17:01. | :17:05.
energy into making it work. But will people come here and spend? Charity | :17:06. | :17:09.
shops get a bad press, supposedly taking over how high Street. `` | :17:10. | :17:17.
hour. How about the concept on an enormous scale? It is a new unique | :17:18. | :17:21.
experience. The coffee shop helps with that, the free Wi`Fi, we want | :17:22. | :17:25.
people to come in and say, I am going to go back there again and | :17:26. | :17:30.
enjoy the experience. It does not look like a charity shop. It doesn't | :17:31. | :17:34.
feel like one when you come in. There could be more warehouse is | :17:35. | :17:36.
established by this particular charity, maybe ten in the | :17:37. | :17:42.
north`east. It may be the start of a trend that will be copied elsewhere. | :17:43. | :17:52.
Quite a concept. Inconsiderate drivers who park too close to a | :17:53. | :17:55.
County Durham school have been targeted by teachers and pupils this | :17:56. | :17:59.
afternoon. The children and staff at Vane Road Primary in Newton Aycliffe | :18:00. | :18:02.
handed out leaflets to parents on the school run, asking them to park | :18:03. | :18:05.
more safely near the school. Adrian Pitches reports. School is out that | :18:06. | :18:19.
these pupils have one more assignments. It is to stop people | :18:20. | :18:24.
parking outside the school and risking people 's lives. I only go | :18:25. | :18:33.
across the road to school but I need to go with my mum because I cannot | :18:34. | :18:37.
see which way the cars are coming because they parked outside the | :18:38. | :18:45.
house. The children's other one is spearheading this they are asking us | :18:46. | :18:48.
as adults to help them be more safe in the school. The parking | :18:49. | :18:55.
vigilantes are welcomed by parents and grandparents alike. It is great | :18:56. | :19:00.
everyone is getting together to solve this problem. I've been | :19:01. | :19:04.
getting on to them about this for years. It has got a really bad over | :19:05. | :19:12.
the last few years. Shouldn't we hand out tickets though? I think we | :19:13. | :19:18.
have to give out fixed penalty notices because as I say it is | :19:19. | :19:21.
saving youngsters from injury and that is what we are here all about. | :19:22. | :19:27.
It is not just about the kids, it is about the residents as well who | :19:28. | :19:31.
complain about their and safety and their own problems when they come | :19:32. | :19:34.
back or go from their homes. After half term pupils and police will see | :19:35. | :19:40.
if the campaign has worked. Time for sport now, and one of the | :19:41. | :19:43.
region's longest`serving footballers is on the move, Jeff? Yes ` not | :19:44. | :19:47.
quite sure where, yet. He's on his holidays at the moment, so we might | :19:48. | :19:51.
find out next week. The man in questions is Shola Ameobi released, | :19:52. | :19:54.
as expected, by Newcastle United today, after 14 years with the club. | :19:55. | :19:58.
Steve Bruce is keen to take him to Hull City. Meanwhile, Magpies' | :19:59. | :20:04.
defender Paul Dummett has said he's received on`line death threats from | :20:05. | :20:07.
Uruguayan fans, after their star man, Luis Suarez, went in for a knee | :20:08. | :20:10.
operation this week. The injury has interrupted the country's World Cup | :20:11. | :20:13.
preparations, and they blame Dummett for this challenge in United's game | :20:14. | :20:19.
with Liverpool, 12 days ago. The youngster was sent off but the red | :20:20. | :20:23.
card was later rescinded and there's no evidence the tackle was directly | :20:24. | :20:29.
responsible for Suarez's problem. It's nearly 120 years since rugby | :20:30. | :20:32.
split into separate codes League and Union. But today, in an unusual | :20:33. | :20:35.
move, the region's only top`flight rugby union club Newcastle Falcons | :20:36. | :20:38.
ended months of speculation by announcing they've taken over rugby | :20:39. | :20:41.
league side Gateshead Thunder to unite professional game in the north | :20:42. | :20:52.
east under one umbrella. The move will apparently benefit both clubs. | :20:53. | :20:58.
15 years ago, Gateshead Thunder had one ill`fated season in rugby | :20:59. | :21:00.
league's top`flight. Since then, after more financial problems than | :21:01. | :21:03.
anybody cares to remember, they are now in the third tier of the game. | :21:04. | :21:07.
The aim is to get the Thunder back into the big time. There is a very | :21:08. | :21:13.
clear vision. There is a very clear path to get all the way to the super | :21:14. | :21:17.
league. What we will not do is sit here today and say that definitely | :21:18. | :21:21.
will happen but that will happen if the club is good enough on and off | :21:22. | :21:25.
the field. ??FORCECYAN it is the most important thing that has | :21:26. | :21:28.
happened since 15 years of those long forgotten days. It will not | :21:29. | :21:31.
happen overnight. We are only two leagues away from the super league | :21:32. | :21:35.
and getting out of the one we are in should not be too difficult now, we | :21:36. | :21:39.
may have a chance this year that we will see. The benefits are obvious. | :21:40. | :21:42.
An immediate investment to buy new players, they will retain their | :21:43. | :21:45.
identity and coaching setup, there will be financial stability and | :21:46. | :21:48.
access to the Falcons facilities. But what is in it for the Falcons? | :21:49. | :21:52.
You have to look at the long`term of this. By Gateshead Thunder becoming | :21:53. | :21:55.
part of Newcastle Rugby Limited means the overall businesses more | :21:56. | :21:58.
sustainable and there will be benefits to Newcastle Falklands as | :21:59. | :22:04.
well. `` Balkans. You can see the immediate short`term, the winners in | :22:05. | :22:07.
the next few months are Gateshead Thunder. Falcons. They will continue | :22:08. | :22:11.
to play the rest of the season at the Thunder Dome at Gateshead | :22:12. | :22:14.
Stadium but in the not too distant future they will be playing here at | :22:15. | :22:18.
Kingston Park. The home of the Falcons which will hopefully by | :22:19. | :22:20.
then, be the brand`new artificial 3`G pitch. It is unlikely to have | :22:21. | :22:24.
any crossover of the two clubs but they'll be a crossover of ideas | :22:25. | :22:28.
between the two coaches. So for now though, Thunder just need to carry | :22:29. | :22:34.
on winning. The rain in Somerset couldn't | :22:35. | :22:37.
prevent county champions Durham from slipping to their first defeat of | :22:38. | :22:40.
the four`day season ` but no`one from the cricket club will welcome | :22:41. | :22:45.
it at Chester`le`Street on Sunday. That's because Durham's ICG is | :22:46. | :22:48.
hosting England versus Sri Lanka, the latest One Day International, | :22:49. | :22:51.
and a potential money`spinner in a difficult financial climate. Now | :22:52. | :22:58.
here's a collectors item, an England victory in 2014. Last nights game | :22:59. | :23:02.
may have been a rain affected but hopefully it persuaded cricket fans | :23:03. | :23:05.
to snap up the few remaining tickets for Sunday's ODI against Sri Lankan. | :23:06. | :23:08.
Local schoolchildren were there today in the drizzle, practising the | :23:09. | :23:11.
dance routine they will entertain spectators with during the interval | :23:12. | :23:16.
between innings. It is another important milestone in Durham's | :23:17. | :23:18.
relatively short history in hosting international matches including, | :23:19. | :23:24.
last summer's successful Ashes test. We have had international cricket | :23:25. | :23:27.
here every year since 1999 so we are well established. We have | :23:28. | :23:32.
demonstrated that we can have events and now the biggest test match there | :23:33. | :23:37.
is. I'm confident when we look in the future there will always be | :23:38. | :23:39.
significant international cricket in Durham. It would be good to see him | :23:40. | :23:53.
back out? Yes without a doubt. They love having him without a doubt. He | :23:54. | :23:56.
is a fountain of knowledge, I suppose, as I said earlier, you | :23:57. | :24:00.
cannot buy that. His record speaks itself. A bloke to have in your | :24:01. | :24:03.
changing room and a fantastic player sure we would not happen for many | :24:04. | :24:07.
years to come. Fast bowler, Graham Onions is hoping to return from his | :24:08. | :24:10.
latest back injury in 7`10 days, missed yesterday's defeat. He would | :24:11. | :24:14.
love to get back into the England squad. But it is first things first | :24:15. | :24:17.
with Durham. Of course I'm disappointed. Nobody likes to lose a | :24:18. | :24:20.
game of cricket, especially when your champions because the pressure | :24:21. | :24:23.
is on more. For me personally, it is disappointing when you see the lads | :24:24. | :24:27.
lose when you can do nothing about it. I am 100% determined to get back | :24:28. | :24:31.
on the field and help the lads as much as I can really. | :24:32. | :24:46.
Let's hope the rain stays away on Sunday. I know so we can ask about | :24:47. | :24:53.
that best remark go on then. It will be changeable holiday weekend | :24:54. | :24:57.
weather`wise. We might see a few of these. Rainbows. Thank you to Amelia | :24:58. | :25:05.
for that picture. Over the weekend we're expected | :25:06. | :25:05.
these. Rainbows. Thank you to Amelia for that picture. Over the to see | :25:06. | :25:09.
sunshine and a fair few sunshine in the north`east. Overnight tonight is | :25:10. | :25:14.
a few showers to come, heavy at first for the North Pennines and the | :25:15. | :25:18.
Yorkshire Dales. It is misty over the hills to stop showers blown in | :25:19. | :25:25.
from the east but it should die away by dawn. Temperatures as low as nine | :25:26. | :25:32.
Celsius. Reasonably mild for the weekend, some spells of sun | :25:33. | :25:35.
especially in Cumbria. A few showers around as well. Into late morning | :25:36. | :25:40.
and afternoon the showers are more widespread blowing in from the brisk | :25:41. | :25:46.
winds from the East. The temperatures are higher than they | :25:47. | :25:53.
are today, 14 Celsius. Most places are staying at around 10 Celsius. | :25:54. | :25:58.
Not feeling springlike with strong winds and showers coming in from the | :25:59. | :26:04.
North Sea, when we tour westward is most of Cumbria is likely to be dry | :26:05. | :26:07.
but there is still a risk of showers here as well in the late afternoon. | :26:08. | :26:12.
Over the next couple of days, things stay unsettled. An area of low | :26:13. | :26:17.
pressure across the UK will slowly move away as high pressure builds to | :26:18. | :26:24.
the east. We are expecting things to stay changeable through Sunday, | :26:25. | :26:29.
possibly heavy showers for a time. On the bank with a Monday in self, | :26:30. | :26:34.
things should become more settled. It should stay that way for much of | :26:35. | :26:40.
Tuesday but there is more rain waiting on Tuesday and Wednesday. | :26:41. | :26:45.
The detail now. After tomorrow, in Cumbria there will be heavy showers, | :26:46. | :26:50.
possibly thunder in some places. By Spurs in between and the | :26:51. | :26:55.
temperatures start to climb high. `` showers. There will be trying breaks | :26:56. | :27:01.
which will feel more springlike. On the bank holiday thing should be | :27:02. | :27:08.
largely dry and fine. Only a few isolated showers. That is more like | :27:09. | :27:15.
it for late May. In the north`east, also unsettled on Saturday was | :27:16. | :27:19.
showers, heavy in places. Gloomy further north. On Monday things are | :27:20. | :27:27.
looking that little bit drier and finer the temperatures will not be | :27:28. | :27:31.
as high as they are in the West. That's how the weekend looks. Thank | :27:32. | :27:39.
you Anna I have seen better. I think you have. Good night. | :27:40. | :27:46. |
