The number of people arrestdd as part of an investigation

:00:00.:00:12.

into alleged sex crimes against women and girls in Tyne

:00:13.:00:15.

Northumbria Police launched Operation Sanctuary in Janu`ry,

:00:16.:00:20.

partly focusing on the night`time economy.

:00:21.:00:23.

They say the number of potential victims is as high as 80.

:00:24.:00:27.

So far, 14 people have been charged in

:00:28.:00:30.

UKIP has warned the main parties in the North East they'll continue

:00:31.:00:35.

to lose support unless they start to address the concerns

:00:36.:00:37.

Jonathan Arnott was elected last month as the North East's fhrst UKIP

:00:38.:00:41.

He told the BBC's Sunday Politics that Labour and Conservativds were

:00:42.:00:46.

both failing to respond to the needs of the region's voters.

:00:47.:00:58.

The simple fact is that the establishment parties are not

:00:59.:01:06.

listening to our message. They are not prepared to change or do

:01:07.:01:09.

anything about it. Whilst they continue in this mentality, they can

:01:10.:01:15.

keep on ignoring the needs `nd wishes of working class votdrs than

:01:16.:01:19.

they will still find that stpport haemorrhages.

:01:20.:01:22.

A father and son have been treated in hospital after they were thrown

:01:23.:01:25.

from their fishing boat in a freak accident three mhles

:01:26.:01:28.

The pair were trying to fix the onboard engine

:01:29.:01:31.

which had stopped when it stddenly restarted and took off at ftll

:01:32.:01:34.

One man managed to get back onto the vessel.

:01:35.:01:38.

Lifeboat crews found the other man 300 yards awax after

:01:39.:01:40.

A Cumbrian fell runner's begun an incredible challenge to set

:01:41.:01:44.

a new record for running all 21 peaks that feature in writer

:01:45.:01:47.

Steve Birkinshaw hopes to bdat the time set by legendary Ctmbrian

:01:48.:01:51.

As a fell racer, Steve Birkhnshaw is used to scaling the area's

:01:52.:02:02.

But even for Steve, this will be a gruelling contest to

:02:03.:02:06.

Both physically, just being out moving for 20 hours a day

:02:07.:02:14.

The last few days I'll be feeling exhausted.

:02:15.:02:19.

To carry on doing it day after day is really hard.

:02:20.:02:22.

It was first done by famous Lakeland fell runner, Joss Naylor,

:02:23.:02:25.

To put the scale of Steve's challenge into some kind of context,

:02:26.:02:31.

He'll run in seven days 320 miles, climb 36,000 metres.

:02:32.:02:37.

Every 24 hours, he'll run the equivalent of two marathons

:02:38.:02:41.

And every day, effectively climb England's highest peak five times.

:02:42.:02:47.

So this week will add to his huge pile of used traindrs,

:02:48.:02:50.

but will it put an end to his endurance challenges?

:02:51.:02:53.

It'll satisfy it for a year or two at least and then we'll see

:02:54.:02:57.

Steve hopes to finish 11 hotrs quicker than Joss by next Friday

:02:58.:03:03.

Mark McAlindon, BBC Look North, the Lake District.

:03:04.:03:11.

Now, it's their most ambitious fundraising event to date, but this

:03:12.:03:14.

morning, hundreds of runners turned out to support the first evdr

:03:15.:03:16.

It took place on the Paddy Freeman Field to raise money for thd

:03:17.:03:21.

Amongst the runners taking part in today's fun,

:03:22.:03:33.

some who owe their lives to the hospital just across thd road.

:03:34.:03:37.

It's their chance to say thank you by raising money.

:03:38.:03:41.

We're running in memory of a little girl who was

:03:42.:03:44.

the youngest baby to have open heart surgery, only an hour old

:03:45.:03:49.

Sadly, she passed away a few weeks ago

:03:50.:03:52.

In 2012, I underwent a life`saving heart transpl`nt.

:03:53.:03:57.

If it wasn't for CHUF, I wouldn't be here today.

:03:58.:04:01.

The death of Tiarna Middleton this week, the smallest and youngest baby

:04:02.:04:08.

to be fitted with a Berlin heart as she waited for a transpl`nt

:04:09.:04:12.

at the Freeman, has brought the unit?s work into sharp focus.

:04:13.:04:15.

What today is all about is raising funds, but also

:04:16.:04:18.

There are a lot more new supporters for us here today which we will stay

:04:19.:04:23.

in touch with and hopefully raise more funds for the charity.

:04:24.:04:27.

So a sense of achievement in finishing the run, but also

:04:28.:04:33.

in knowing their efforts will help other families in the futurd.

:04:34.:04:37.

And Durham are playing Lanc`shire in the County Championship.

:04:38.:04:45.

It's day one of the four`dax match at Chester`le`Street.

:04:46.:04:48.

Lancashire won the toss this morning and elected to field.

:04:49.:04:50.

At close of play, Durham's first innings score had reached 183 for 8.

:04:51.:04:55.

Let's get the weather for this evening and tomorrow now,

:04:56.:04:58.

Through this evening, any rdmaining showers will fizzle out. We will

:04:59.:05:11.

have clear skies adverts, btt we will get the cloud rolling hn as we

:05:12.:05:14.

head towards dawn tomorrow. Still try, temperatures down to around 12

:05:15.:05:21.

degrees. The breeze mostly light from the north`east. Tomorrow, a

:05:22.:05:27.

fairly cloudy start. Across to Cumbria, for the East, tendhng to

:05:28.:05:31.

stay cloudy but we could sed it Right me a little. Temperattre is

:05:32.:05:37.

the same as today, highs of 16 degrees. Highs of 21 or 22 hn the

:05:38.:05:42.

West. The breeze still fairly gentle. The onshore breeze will

:05:43.:05:49.

affect coastal areas. It will be largely cloudy with highs of 21

:05:50.:05:51.

degrees. I'll be back with the late news

:05:52.:05:54.

at 10:20pm. The weather won't be far of what we

:05:55.:06:15.

experience of this weekend. Dry weather here and there and fearing

:06:16.:06:19.

amount of sunshine. The best of sunshine is in the West.

:06:20.:06:24.

Temperatures getting into the low 20s. Disappointingly cloudy further

:06:25.:06:28.

east. In between, a few showers North-west Scotland and Wales, the

:06:29.:06:33.

odd sharp shower disappearing through the night. We could see one

:06:34.:06:37.

or two light showers across East Anglia and Kent. The breeze has been

:06:38.:06:41.

keeping temperatures down through the day. It will keep temperatures

:06:42.:06:47.

around 12-13. Elsewhere, temperatures up more than where they

:06:48.:06:51.

should be for this time of the year. Varying amounts of sunshine around.

:06:52.:06:56.

Breezy in the south-east. Thicker cloud pushing into northern parts of

:06:57.:06:59.

Scotland through the morning and early afternoon. It could be misty

:07:00.:07:05.

on the coasts, and light bursts of rain and drizzle and temperatures

:07:06.:07:09.

lower than recently. Mainland Scotland, the

:07:10.:07:10.
