has been organised by the ntmber of Christian churches across the town.

The park naturally attracts very young people with its cafe `nd

parked and adventure course. It is suggested that this is an area that

could have been used for grooming and abroad. All sections of the

community here have been affected by this report on child sexual

exploitation published last week, not least those in the business

sector. Our correspondent D`nni Hewson reports.

A lot of effort has been made to regenerate the town centre `fter the

backing of Maryport in 2007. Revelations of the last few weeks

have had football heart. Whhle no one wants to ignore what happened,

some fear for the future. `` Maryport. At the moment it hs very

negative. If this carries on, it will continue into our Christmas

treat and I hate to say it, but many businesses rely upon that Stride and

if they do not have it, it will make a major impact. The timing hs

particularly damaging. As the economy picks up and investlent

opportunities start, perception plays a huge part. We are working

hard to find premises and to invest in this town. Obviously, as I said

yesterday, I would reinstatd that. This pales into insignificance

compared to some of the findings of the report and the victims of this,

which is the most important thing. The town has been hurt and

rebuilding its brand will bd doubly hard as the story is not finished.

Calls for resignations, arrdsts and father demonstrations can only

rekindle negative headlines. Business leaders feel it is

impossible to gauge how it will help the wider economy. It is too early

to assess that. I think certainly the proposed English Defencd League

March on the 13th of this month will have an affect on the town centres.

At the moment we are not getting any reports of business interruption or

people cancelling contracts. It has taken decades to build up a

reputation capable of attracting big business. That reputation `` that

reputation could be tarnishdd, but not on every front.

Well, it is now the chance of the Christian church to respond to this

scandal and read prayers thhs evening. Johnny Bean out as the

local reverend. You have had a great response to this invitation for

prayer. You will be preening `` you will be praying for the victims

tonight. `` Johnny May now hs the local minister. How can the church

help? We have healing ministry and counselling and people from other

agencies. We have some experience of child protection through our own

experiences and we have somd knowledge to share with othdr

people. Hopefully from a position of humility because we have had to

learn from our own mistakes. There is a parallel prayer vigil outside

of the police and council officers, why is that taking place? The role

of the Council is crucial in addressing this problem and

obviously the police have two play their part in bringing the

perpetrators of these crimes to justice. But it is something for the

whole team unity and we must come together to tackle the crishs

together, really. Practically, this is a special service and pr`yer

session. Can this help? Do xou need a long`term plan? This is khnd of a

first response, the first step on a long journey. We have seriots issues

and questions to deal with. That will be tough but we must create a

climate of trust and friendship to other team unity groups, showing

support to each other across a Rotherham. We believe that prayer is

of spending... But in the shadow of Scotland,

every political leader has been trekking to Yorkshire,

promising extra billions will soon be heading north together whth local

powers to spend it. It appears we are now pushing

at an open door in terms of all of the national political p`rties

talking up devolution and ghving power to local areas, but often

when parties then enter govdrnment, The echoes of the debate in Scotland

are already having an effect on Yorkshire, even before that

referendum vote in two weeks' time. Len Tingle, BBC Look North,

Queensferry. Well, Peter Box, the leader of

Wakefield Council joins us now. Why do we need it? I think lost

people believe we can make decisions better at a local level. How would

it work? What we want is to build on what we have already achievdd and

create a combined authority in the area. We have received one building

pounds from the government `nd we hope to create some 63,000 jobs to

ensure that we grow the economy in West Yorkshire by ?5 million over

the next seven years. We have huge ambition but we could do more if we

had more. Would that not just creates more political bure`ucracy,

you need someone to govern that cash? We do not want a more

politicians, but we do have existing structures. The combined authority

that is being created, that body could deal with the cash th`t we are

asking from the government. One example would be that the government

spends about ?22.5 million dach year on skills and the economy and that

is made up of 103 different funding parts. Surely it makes sensd to give

it to the combined authoritx and power equipment in South Yorkshire

to spend locally. Regional assemblies, are the viable options?

It is not about creating regional assemblies. There was a refdrendum

many years ago in the north`east and people voted no. There was no

appetite back then, but I think the referendum in Scotland has hncreased

debate and things have changed. At the assistance of the government we

have a combined authority so we have accountable bodies which ard hugely

ambitious and giving a real lead across West Yorkshire in trxing to

create more jobs, trying to create skills for our younger generation.

One man swapped his boss for a bicycle last week. Craig Barnes

cycles 60 miles each day, hd is his story. My name is Craig Barnes and

for the last ten months I h`ve been cycling eight months to work using a

battery`operated bike. For the last two years I caught the bus.

An hour on the bus, 25 minutes on the bike! This is much bettdr. I do

not like using bus lanes. You cannot get a seat on the bus and it cost
