Good afternoon. on the BBC News Channel, we are back | :00:00. | :00:15.
Hundreds of people lined the streets of Worcester today | :00:16. | :00:18.
as the city's local Army Reserve unit | :00:19. | :00:21.
held a freedom parade to mark the centenary of the First World War. | :00:22. | :00:24.
were also marking a significant anniversary of their own. | :00:25. | :00:27.
A salute to a regiment that began 150 years ago. | :00:28. | :00:33.
The 214 Worcestershire Battery Royal Artillery | :00:34. | :00:36.
took to the streets of the city today to give visitors | :00:37. | :00:39.
a sense of what life was like during the Great War. | :00:40. | :00:43.
We draw from the local community, and so I think it's important | :00:44. | :00:46.
the local community understand that we are here | :00:47. | :00:48.
and that there is a lot of history vested in the battery | :00:49. | :00:52.
that, really, is part of their own local history. | :00:53. | :00:57.
There was plenty of memorabilia on display, | :00:58. | :00:59.
into the relationship the battery shares with the city. | :01:00. | :01:05.
Now, the regiment have had a long history in the city. | :01:06. | :01:08.
Formed in 1864, they fought in both world wars, | :01:09. | :01:12.
and only recently have returned from tour in Afghanistan. | :01:13. | :01:16.
Today was an opportunity for the soldiers | :01:17. | :01:18.
to thank the community for their support. | :01:19. | :01:21.
And for the community, it was a chance | :01:22. | :01:23.
to pay tribute to their bravery and those gone before them. | :01:24. | :01:27.
to see what life was like in World War I, | :01:28. | :01:31.
all the machinery and things they used at the time. | :01:32. | :01:39.
It's just a nice experience for them. | :01:40. | :01:44.
I think it gives young kids some idea of, er... | :01:45. | :01:47.
It properly encourages them to join. | :01:48. | :01:48.
Great appreciation for the work, the honour, the privilege | :01:49. | :01:52.
to have it all in, and the courage to do it all in this wonderful day. | :01:53. | :01:56.
Audrey Dias, BBC Midlands Today, Worcester. | :01:57. | :02:00.
A special service was held today in a Herefordshire village | :02:01. | :02:03.
following the sudden deaths of an elderly couple who lived there. | :02:04. | :02:07.
John Knott and his wife Anne from Bosbury | :02:08. | :02:09.
were found dead from gunshot wounds at their home on Monday. | :02:10. | :02:13.
West Mercia Police have not ruled out the possibility | :02:14. | :02:16.
that their deaths were part of a suicide pact. | :02:17. | :02:20.
Three people suffered serious side effects from taking | :02:21. | :02:23.
a drug they thought was ecstasy at the V Festival in Staffordshire. | :02:24. | :02:26.
Police have seized a small number of the tablets, known as blue ghost. | :02:27. | :02:30.
Meanwhile, the two`day event got under way today, | :02:31. | :02:33.
with around 90,000 people expected at Weston Park. | :02:34. | :02:37.
But organisers say for the first time in years | :02:38. | :02:39.
It's a tough market at the moment, the festival market is tough, | :02:40. | :02:46.
and there's not as many acts around at the moment, this year, | :02:47. | :02:50.
so you can only really put on what is touring and around. | :02:51. | :02:54.
So it's been slightly difficult this year, | :02:55. | :02:58.
but, you know, we've gone through it, | :02:59. | :03:00.
and hopefully it'll all be good for next year. | :03:01. | :03:03.
Athletics, and Birchfield Harriers' Michael Bingham | :03:04. | :03:05.
has helped Great Britain's men's 4x400m relay team | :03:06. | :03:09.
to the finals at the European Championships in Zurich. | :03:10. | :03:12.
They eased to victory in their heat in a time of three minutes. | :03:13. | :03:17.
Today's football results now, starting with the Premiership. | :03:18. | :04:03.
Let's have a look at the weather now, here's Kay Forster. | :04:04. | :04:06.
Good evening. It's been a blustery old day today, | :04:07. | :04:08.
and if anything, those winds will be even stronger through tomorrow. | :04:09. | :04:11.
a lot of dryer and brighter weather with some sunshine, | :04:12. | :04:16.
but those winds will make it feel quite cool | :04:17. | :04:18.
with temperatures struggling up into the high teens. | :04:19. | :04:20.
the majority of us staying dry for most of the night, | :04:21. | :04:24.
pushing into northern and western parts later on in the night, | :04:25. | :04:28.
which will sink its way southwards by the end of the night as well. | :04:29. | :04:32.
will hold the temperatures up once again, | :04:33. | :04:35.
with lows of around 12 or 13 degrees. | :04:36. | :04:37.
Tomorrow morning, then, quite a damp start, | :04:38. | :04:39.
most of the rain clears out of the way | :04:40. | :04:41.
to give us some sunshine into the afternoon. | :04:42. | :04:43.
Just a couple of light showers here and there, | :04:44. | :04:45.
but those winds will be the star of the show, | :04:46. | :04:47.
they will make it feel really quite chilly | :04:48. | :04:49.
That's it from us. We're back tomorrow evening at | :04:50. | :04:55.
The start of the football season reminds us autumn is around the | :04:56. | :05:23.
corner and the an autumnal flavour for the next few days. For Sunday, | :05:24. | :05:29.
north-westerly winds and some rain. The rain comes from this front | :05:30. | :05:34.
crossing through Northern Ireland and northern England. As it pushes | :05:35. | :05:39.
south it will pep up and the wind will strengthen and the showers | :05:40. | :05:43.
develop in the north and west. But for the cloud and the wind and rain | :05:44. | :05:48.
it won't be too cold at 14 Celsius. We start off tomorrow with a front | :05:49. | :05:52.
still to clear through England and Wales, a disappointing grey and wet | :05:53. | :05:58.
start to the morning. Behind it the winds is a feature with gales even | :05:59. | :06:04.
inland in Scotland and some showers and big waves. Holiday makers take | :06:05. | :06:08.
note. Some brightness in England and Wales after the front clears and | :06:09. | :06:14.
temperatures up to 21. A cooler feel with the sharp showers in the north | :06:15. | :06:22.
and west. That cooler feel will come to descend south through Monday and | :06:23. | :06:23. |
