Good evening. Welcome to North West Tonight. Our top story. Killed by | :00:05. | :00:08.
their own son. This couple died at his hands eight days after he | :00:08. | :00:12.
should have taken medicine for mental problems. We will be live | :00:13. | :00:17.
from the Coroner's Court where an inquest is being held. Also tonight. | :00:17. | :00:21.
Paramedics on the pitch. Stan's match is abandoned after a player | :00:21. | :00:26.
is knocked unconscious for half an hour. Can't see the signs for the | :00:26. | :00:31.
trees. A driving instructor is warning about foliage on our road | :00:31. | :00:36.
sides. And preserve it for the world. Campaigners want to protect | :00:36. | :00:40.
Preston's much mall lined bus station from demolition, but should | :00:40. | :00:50.
:00:50. | :00:56. | ||
He was mentally ill with a history of drink and drug abuse. Yet he | :00:56. | :01:00.
often took his medication late. And in March 2008, eight days after he | :01:00. | :01:04.
should have taken his medicine, Alan Scott killed his parents. But | :01:04. | :01:07.
today, an inquest heard although there were fail information the | :01:07. | :01:11.
care he received it did not contribute to the killings of his | :01:11. | :01:17.
parents. Our reporter was in court today and joins u now. Tell us what | :01:17. | :01:23.
happened in this terrible case. was tragic. Alan and Stella Scott | :01:23. | :01:28.
stabbed to death at their home in aler on the in Liverpool. Their | :01:28. | :01:33.
killer was mare son. He had been mentally ill since 1994 and had | :01:33. | :01:36.
drink and drug problems. He admitted the manslaughter of his | :01:36. | :01:41.
parents and he is detained under the eMental Health Act. What were | :01:41. | :01:46.
the fail information his care that were brought up? As you said | :01:46. | :01:50.
earlier he was eight days late for his injection, that wasn't the | :01:50. | :01:53.
first time he had been late but on previous occasions there had not | :01:53. | :01:57.
been a problem. He remained mentally stable. An independent | :01:57. | :02:02.
review found other fail information the care given to him by the NHS | :02:02. | :02:05.
trust. The doe sadge was reduced accidentally by half two years | :02:05. | :02:08.
before the killing. He hadn't seen a psychiatrist for three years | :02:08. | :02:12.
before the killing and the trust failed to engage properly with his | :02:12. | :02:14.
family. Nevertheless the independent review said the | :02:14. | :02:21.
violence was not foreseeable and was probably not preventable. | :02:21. | :02:26.
us the verdict finally. Well, the Liverpool coroner recorded verdicts | :02:27. | :02:31.
on both alland and Stella Scott of unlawful killing. He made the point | :02:31. | :02:35.
although there had been deficiencys in the care Alan Scott received, | :02:35. | :02:41.
there was no direct causal link between those deficiencies and the | :02:41. | :02:51.
tragic events of April 2000. That is something Mr and Mrs Scott's | :02:51. | :02:56.
daughters disagree with. We We will always believe the lack of Alan's | :02:57. | :03:01.
care and treatment, and the lowering of his medication for the | :03:01. | :03:04.
last two years, we will always believe that did contribute to my | :03:04. | :03:09.
mum and dad's deaths. Now, although they are disappointed with the | :03:09. | :03:12.
verdict, the Scott family say they are not planning to take this any | :03:13. | :03:16.
further they are not planning any further legal action. They will try | :03:16. | :03:20.
and get on with their lives. The NHS trust told the inquest they | :03:20. | :03:26.
have strengthened their procedures, to deal with people who are on | :03:26. | :03:28.
anti-psychotic drugs in an effort to make sure this kind of thing | :03:28. | :03:36.
doesn't happen again. Thank you. The Cammell Laird shipyard has been | :03:36. | :03:40.
long been known as one of the most famous shipbuilders but now they | :03:40. | :03:44.
are changing tack. Instead of making battleships it is moving | :03:44. | :03:51.
into wind farms. Today it announced it has its foot in the door on a 25 | :03:51. | :03:56.
year scheme in the Irish Sea that could be worth up to 2 billion and | :03:56. | :04:01.
provide new jobs. In is a section of one of the Royal Navy's force | :04:01. | :04:05.
coming Queen Elizabeth class aircraft carrier ch Cammell Laird | :04:05. | :04:10.
wants to supply the firm RWE NPower with the basis for offshore wind | :04:10. | :04:15.
turbines like these. They say lessons learns can be applied | :04:15. | :04:18.
directly to the huge wind farm project off the north Wales coast | :04:18. | :04:23.
which will be one of the world's biggest. We have a fantastic | :04:23. | :04:26.
location. The investment and infrastructure we currently have | :04:26. | :04:30.
taking place today, and the abundance and wealth of skills and | :04:30. | :04:34.
knowledge we have, we believe we will be very well placed to win a | :04:34. | :04:39.
good proportion of those contracts. Compared to test mated total cost | :04:39. | :04:43.
of the project of 2 billion Cammell Laird's share is about 5 | :04:43. | :04:48.
million which is modest. The company sighs it a a jumping off | :04:48. | :04:52.
point. The question is how to get bigger and bigger slices of the I | :04:52. | :04:56.
cake Us being here with this project is a fantastic opportunity | :04:56. | :05:00.
to showcase what they can can do to the industry, and that is how you | :05:00. | :05:05.
go from this project on to the next. To start with, Cammell Laird will | :05:05. | :05:08.
provide equipment will that help lash large pieces of machinery to | :05:08. | :05:13.
the dex of ships working on the project. So it is early dayss, but | :05:13. | :05:17.
nonetheless it is vital for the firm and Merseyside in general. | :05:17. | :05:20.
have been working with Cammell Laird and others over the last few | :05:20. | :05:24.
years to promote the assets we have for offshore wind development. This | :05:24. | :05:27.
contract is a really significant development. Not just for claird | :05:28. | :05:32.
but the region. There have been many times in the firm's history | :05:32. | :05:35.
when it appeared the bulldozers were waiting at the gates, but | :05:35. | :05:41.
Cammell Laird says with a fair wind the project could create 2,000 jobs | :05:41. | :05:46.
in Merseyside by 2020. More news from round the north-west and a | :05:46. | :05:51.
killer who went on the run at the age of 15 after shooting dead a | :05:51. | :05:56.
schoolboy today admitted the murder. For two years he remained at large | :05:56. | :06:01.
until he was arrested in Amsterdam earlier this year. In an earth to | :06:01. | :06:06.
catch him the police beamed huge images of him on to a big screen in | :06:06. | :06:12.
the city and offered a reward. Today he admitted the murder of a | :06:12. | :06:16.
16-year-old outside the Robin Hood pub in 2009. A serious case review | :06:16. | :06:21.
has been launched into the murder of a baby in Preston last month. It | :06:21. | :06:24.
is believed six month old Ollie McBride was suffocated by his | :06:24. | :06:28.
father who took his own life. The review isn't intended to apportion | :06:28. | :06:32.
blame but is to suggest improvements. The Manchester United | :06:32. | :06:36.
footballer Tom Cleverley has won a libel case against the Sun. It | :06:36. | :06:39.
falsely claimed that he had badgered a girl for sex after | :06:39. | :06:43.
meeting her in a Blackpool nightclub. The high court heard the | :06:43. | :06:47.
22-year-old midfielder had never met the woman but was impersonated | :06:47. | :06:53.
by another individual who had pest tered her. He was awarded | :06:53. | :06:56.
substantial damages. Medals and memorabilia belonging to Tony Dunne | :06:56. | :07:00.
who was a member of Sir Matt Busby side of the 60s have gone under the | :07:00. | :07:06.
hammer today in Chester. In his 530 appearance for the club he helped | :07:06. | :07:10.
Uniteded to win two titles and the European Cup. He decided to auction | :07:10. | :07:13.
the memorabilia which fetched thousands today, to benefit his | :07:13. | :07:19.
family. His daughter says it was a difficult decision. Very mixed. | :07:19. | :07:24.
Some days he says yes, he wants to do it. He feels his memories he can | :07:24. | :07:29.
take with him. He feels by doing what he is doing he can give his | :07:29. | :07:35.
family that bit more, now he is 70, he can share it with him. It has | :07:36. | :07:39.
been the best news for 16 supermarket workers from greater | :07:39. | :07:44.
match who are celebrating after winning almost 7 million on the | :07:44. | :07:48.
National Lottery. The staff at ASDA in Hyde will share the roll over | :07:48. | :07:52.
draw. Each of the group, which is made up of check out and customer | :07:52. | :08:00.
services staff will collect more than 4 30,000. I hope they paid | :08:00. | :08:05.
for that champagne! There could be a few jobs going at ASDA! They are | :08:05. | :08:07.
packing jai the stage tat Conservative Party Conference in | :08:07. | :08:09.
Manchester this evening. David Cameron ended the four day | :08:09. | :08:13.
gathering by warning of a threat of another recession. The Prime | :08:13. | :08:17.
Minister insisted that the plan to cut the deficit had to remain in | :08:17. | :08:21.
place, our political editor joins us from inside the centre. So the | :08:21. | :08:29.
talking stops for now. Is that the end of it? Well, it is for now. Yes. | :08:29. | :08:32.
I mean you know how much effort they put into getting the | :08:32. | :08:36.
conferences right. Making the set look right. The design work for the | :08:36. | :08:42.
television. Look at it now. All being pulled apart behind us, so | :08:42. | :08:46.
quickly it disappeared. David Cameron came on stage this evening, | :08:46. | :08:49.
this afternoon, made a serious speech reflecting I think the | :08:49. | :08:54.
seriousness of the economy, but I wonder if he remembers his trip to | :08:54. | :08:58.
Wythenshawe just a few years ago. It was at the time of his hug a | :08:58. | :09:03.
hoodie speech, and one 17-year-old came up behind him, pulled a gun | :09:03. | :09:09.
gesture behind his head, it got into all the tabloid newspapers, at | :09:09. | :09:14.
the time. Today, Mr Cameron, on the stage behind me, said that things | :09:14. | :09:18.
improved dramatically in Wythenshawe. Go the Wythenshawe, a | :09:18. | :09:23.
few miles from here. It used to be ravaged by crime and drugs and | :09:23. | :09:26.
graffiti. But local people, they opened a community hall, they | :09:26. | :09:29.
opened a gym they got the kids off the streets. They cleaned up the | :09:29. | :09:34.
graffiti. They kicked out the drug habit and the dealers, of course | :09:34. | :09:38.
Government can't legislate for this. But we can support the leadership | :09:38. | :09:44.
that makes it happen. Mr One of the other keynote speechs came from the | :09:44. | :09:49.
Defence Secretary Liam Fox but he made no mention of the job losses | :09:49. | :09:52.
at BAE Systems in Lancashire. To the disappointment of many I am | :09:52. | :09:59.
sure. Was it a surprise do you think? Well as you say it was a | :09:59. | :10:04.
disappointment for those workers who had come down to visit him, a | :10:04. | :10:08.
sense I suppose what could Liam Fox say? It wasn't as if there is | :10:08. | :10:12.
suddenly money in the defence budget to fund more projects, which | :10:12. | :10:15.
is what they would like. Nevertheless they wanted that | :10:15. | :10:19.
chance to meet him. Obviously very disappointed. You know, we want to | :10:19. | :10:25.
see someone like Liam Fox and hopefully he will be able to give | :10:25. | :10:30.
us some answers. I think he could have met with us to discuss what, | :10:30. | :10:36.
to discuss all the cuts we are facing. Well the real announcement | :10:36. | :10:40.
was made on Sunday when they talked about the new enterprise zone for | :10:40. | :10:44.
Lancashire but it is revealed the Prime Minister has been talking | :10:44. | :10:47.
talks with some Lancashire MPs about the problem. I had a meeting | :10:47. | :10:50.
with the Prime Minister on Tuesday, along with my colleague, and we | :10:51. | :10:54.
really laid out in front of the Prime Minister some of the things | :10:54. | :10:59.
that the workers at Warton are concerned about. So we did talk | :10:59. | :11:02.
about typhoon, we got commitment from the Prime Minister that | :11:02. | :11:06.
everything will be done to drive typhoon exports. So it is the end | :11:07. | :11:11.
of the conference season. What is your assessment of the way they | :11:11. | :11:15.
went? Well, Roger, everything now hinges on the economy. Who has got | :11:15. | :11:20.
the right plan, is it a plan to cut the deficit? And balance the books? | :11:20. | :11:25.
Or is it the plan to spend a bit more and get the economy moving? It | :11:25. | :11:29.
was interesting last night, one Conservative in Manchester said to | :11:29. | :11:33.
me, the worst things get, the more we believe we are right. If you | :11:33. | :11:37.
look at Greece then actually they believe you have to keep cutting, | :11:37. | :11:45.
no matter how difficult that is. Thank you. Still to come in North | :11:45. | :11:50.
West Tonight. The science of swimming. The length he is going to | :11:50. | :11:55.
cut times for the Olympic. And love it or loathe it is Preston's bus | :11:55. | :12:04.
station an eyesore or should it be preserved as an architectural gem? | :12:04. | :12:08.
Now, I can just about remember learning how to drive is stressful | :12:08. | :12:11.
enough when you know where you are supposed to be going, but it is a | :12:11. | :12:16.
lot harder if you don't. A driving instructor has been driven round | :12:16. | :12:20.
the bend by street signs obscured by trees so he has picked up his | :12:20. | :12:27.
keys and cam rand decided to take action. A bus lane sign on the A6. | :12:27. | :12:31.
A stop sign in Bramhall, and this, well it is anyone's guess. Robert | :12:31. | :12:36.
Ridley got so sick of overgrown greenery that he decided to shame | :12:36. | :12:41.
Stockport council into shaping up and chopping it back. I noticed a | :12:41. | :12:44.
few months ago they were in the same state. I thought it doesn't | :12:44. | :12:47.
appear anybody is checking these things and doing anything about | :12:47. | :12:51.
them. I thought I'm going to take picture, so in between dropping | :12:52. | :12:56.
pupils off, I would stop, and take a few pictures. I ended up with | :12:56. | :13:03.
about 14 or 15 in about two weeks. His collection includes not just | :13:03. | :13:07.
directional signs but traffic light signs and a school crossing sign. | :13:07. | :13:12.
You wouldn't have a clue what that was. See it there? All the snaps | :13:13. | :13:16.
have been sent to the council, including this one which believe it | :13:16. | :13:21.
or not is right in the approach to the Bredbury test centre. It is | :13:21. | :13:24.
hard enough to learn how to drive without having the problem of road | :13:24. | :13:29.
signs which you can't read. Stockport council did promptly | :13:29. | :13:39.
:13:39. | :13:44. | ||
But Robert estimated round half of the 14 still haven't been cleared. | :13:45. | :13:48.
I do feel overall I shouldn't have to draw their attention to them. | :13:48. | :13:52.
They should deal with them adds a matter of course. Robert says he is | :13:52. | :13:57.
ready to cast his critical eye beyond the boundarys of Stockport | :13:57. | :14:01.
and hopes it will mean councils across the north-west cut more than | :14:01. | :14:08.
their budgets P -- budgets. With a clear view of the sport here is | :14:08. | :14:12.
Tony. Last night really awful scenes at Accrington Stanley. There | :14:12. | :14:18.
is footage of it of a poor young player knocked out. First the good | :14:18. | :14:21.
news, 1-year-old Tom Bender has left hospital this afternoon. Last | :14:21. | :14:26.
night have a look at that. Things looked worse. The defender collided | :14:26. | :14:30.
with his goalkeeper and a Tranmere forward during a Johnstone's Paint | :14:31. | :14:35.
Trophy tie. He was treated on the pitch and had to be put on oxygen | :14:35. | :14:41.
and a drip. Rare a game gets abandon. The guy south cold so | :14:41. | :14:45.
there is no doubt they were going to call it off. We think it is | :14:45. | :14:48.
unprecedented ch I spoke to the cheek at Accrington Stanley late | :14:48. | :14:52.
last night, and he said the players were so upset there was no question | :14:53. | :14:58.
about calling it off. Today, there has been lots of sympathy from Tom. | :14:58. | :15:03.
So let us get the latest now. can go to Richard at Accrington's | :15:03. | :15:09.
ground at the scene of the collision. Yes, Tony, delighted to | :15:09. | :15:12.
say in the last few minutes Tom has been in touch with the club to | :15:12. | :15:16.
reiterate he is fine. He is a bit groggy but otherwise OK, which is | :15:16. | :15:20.
great news. That is where it took place in this penalty area here. | :15:20. | :15:25.
Late on in the first half. I think as you say toney it is a reflection | :15:25. | :15:31.
on how rare it is for a match to be abandoned. They thought it might be | :15:31. | :15:35.
life-threatening at the time. I was talking to his dad. You can imagine | :15:35. | :15:39.
what he was feeling. He said Tom is philosophical about it all, and in | :15:39. | :15:42.
fact although he can't remember the incident, he just can't wait to get | :15:43. | :15:48.
back playing again. At Accrington Stanley today, there was a sense of | :15:48. | :15:54.
relief, of getting back to normal. After a freak accident that | :15:54. | :15:58.
thankfully looked worse than it has turned out to be. When you start | :15:58. | :16:02.
thinking about life-threatening injuries, that is when it goes to a | :16:02. | :16:06.
different realm. That was the main concern, his wellbeing, basically, | :16:06. | :16:11.
and the fact he hadn't moved and responded for so long was a big | :16:11. | :16:16.
concern. Thankfully, he has come through it. Tom Bender was knocked | :16:16. | :16:21.
cold. Sandwiched between a Tranmere player and the keeper who punched | :16:21. | :16:25.
him accidentally. The young defender remained unconscious. A | :16:25. | :16:30.
paramedic was there 17 minutes later, a ambulance five minutes | :16:30. | :16:34.
after that. You have to bear in mind we had two doctors on site. | :16:34. | :16:38.
The club medical staff and both sides and the equipment we have on | :16:39. | :16:42.
site is probably exactly the same as you would have in the back of a | :16:42. | :16:45.
ambulance any way. So at least as soon as it happened we had people | :16:45. | :16:50.
on site that could deal with it and the equipment required to make his | :16:50. | :16:53.
stable. It was extremely concerning for everybody who watched the game | :16:53. | :16:57.
last night but nobody more so than Tom's father who was sitting in | :16:57. | :17:00.
this part of the ground. You can only imagine what he and everybody | :17:00. | :17:05.
else close to him thought as they looked and saw what was unfolding. | :17:05. | :17:10.
It is one of them freak accident, the ball bounced in the area. Just | :17:10. | :17:13.
a collision twreen the three of us. All the medical people were round | :17:13. | :17:18.
him. He was in the best hands, so, as I say, just thank God he is OK | :17:18. | :17:23.
today. After tests and a brain scan showed no lasting damage Tom has | :17:23. | :17:27.
been given the all clear and can catch up on the messages of support | :17:27. | :17:34.
he has received. Some of them on twister including Robbie savage and | :17:34. | :17:39.
Jack Wilshere. Tom is heading back to his family home in Essex to | :17:39. | :17:46.
recover. On his way back there he has tweeted. Where would we be | :17:46. | :17:51.
without it. He says he is fine. He thanksin' for their support and at | :17:51. | :17:55.
the hospital as well. Because there is no lasting damage to Tom, it | :17:55. | :17:58.
probably won't be too long before he is back on the pitch. Which is | :17:59. | :18:05.
great news. Thank you. Rugby league and Leigh Centurions will outline | :18:05. | :18:08.
their plans to prevent the club going into liquidation, the club's | :18:08. | :18:12.
admitted it has cash flow problems. I lost the support of its main | :18:12. | :18:17.
financial backer and was knocked out of the Championship play auf | :18:17. | :18:23.
wiedersehen es -- play-offs. All this week we have been catching one | :18:23. | :18:27.
the five Olympic hopefuls we are following all the way to London | :18:27. | :18:30.
2000 126789 today it is swimmer Dan Sliwinski, who has been working | :18:30. | :18:35.
with his sports scientist at his club in Stockport, to shave those | :18:35. | :18:45.
:18:45. | :18:45. | ||
vital hundreds of a second off his time. To succeed in front of the | :18:45. | :18:50.
world's cameras Dan must first pay attention to this little camera | :18:50. | :18:54.
recording under water, it analyses his turns I am straight there and | :18:54. | :19:01.
down a bit. My legs always come up. It not too bad. My back is arched. | :19:01. | :19:07.
It is better. You drop your head a lot there. Definitely improvement. | :19:07. | :19:11.
When I first came it was, it was my worst point. Now we have been | :19:11. | :19:15.
working on it, we have seen improvements which is nice. Being | :19:15. | :19:21.
six foot five I have a lot of body to get round quicker. He is quicker | :19:21. | :19:28.
round the wall with than he was when he first came. Now his real | :19:28. | :19:34.
gain to be made is on the break out. It has been a mixed 12 months for | :19:34. | :19:40.
Dan. Commonwealth bronze followed by injury. He has just had his last | :19:40. | :19:47.
toll day for a while. You try to have the most relaxed break. Got in | :19:47. | :19:52.
at 7.30. Finished 9.30 and straight to the gym in a minute to do a | :19:52. | :20:00.
circuit. Bit of boxing, lightweights. That hard work, plus | :20:00. | :20:04.
a bit of sports science is what can turn his potential into Olympic | :20:04. | :20:14.
:20:14. | :20:16. | ||
success. And tomorrow night we will catch up with blind paracyclist | :20:16. | :20:22.
lawyer ra. That is pretty much it. I was speaking to Rob hais last | :20:23. | :20:28.
night. One of the first things Tom said was he apologised his club | :20:28. | :20:33.
socks had to be cult u off and he knows they are skint. Bless him. I | :20:33. | :20:40.
tell you what, they will Bly him a new pair. Good news though. You | :20:40. | :20:45.
will like this. You maybe remember this from queuing up for the bus. | :20:45. | :20:49.
There is no denieing nigh it that Preston bus station has been one of | :20:49. | :20:54.
the most recognisable landmarks, now it is described as architecture | :20:54. | :20:57.
which is worthy of global recognition. You might well raise | :20:57. | :21:05.
your eye browse. I didn't mean to. No, I mean me! The world monuments | :21:05. | :21:10.
fund announced it is among 67 her tadge site it is adding to its list | :21:10. | :21:14.
of treasures placed that are in danger. Preston council want to go | :21:14. | :21:21.
ahead with plans to demolish it. When it opened in 1969 it was the | :21:21. | :21:25.
largest bus station in Europe, and at the cutting-edge of | :21:26. | :21:32.
architectural design. Four decades on, many of those who use it see it | :21:32. | :21:37.
as a familiar, if unremarkable friend. Handy for the markets and | :21:37. | :21:42.
town. It gets the job done It is OK. But Preston council say it is past | :21:42. | :21:46.
its best. They want a new transport interchange, and this place is | :21:46. | :21:50.
standing in the way of ambitious plans to redevelop the city centre. | :21:50. | :21:56.
They want to flatten it. But the world monuments fund, an | :21:56. | :22:00.
international organisation dedicated to protecting cultural | :22:00. | :22:03.
heritage say say it treasure, a structure of global importance | :22:03. | :22:09.
won't say that. You wouldn't? really. I don't know about global | :22:09. | :22:13.
importance but it is fornt the town. The World Monument Fund say the | :22:13. | :22:17.
building is a prime example of brutalism. This is one of those | :22:17. | :22:20.
buildings that divides public opinion. Like that famous savoury | :22:20. | :22:25.
spread you either love it or hate it. Those who love it have tried | :22:25. | :22:28.
unsuccessfully twice to get it listed. But Government ministers | :22:28. | :22:34.
took a look at the place and decided it wasn't special enough. | :22:34. | :22:38.
So why did the monument fund believe it is so special? Instead | :22:38. | :22:42.
of tearing the whole thing down, all the energy that brave building | :22:42. | :22:46.
took to put up in the first place and which is still useful, what is | :22:46. | :22:51.
going to replace it? A weak thinly clad shopping centre that will last | :22:51. | :22:55.
ten years before it is pulled down? I think it has to be valued now | :22:55. | :22:59.
before it is too late. council's cheek says if proud | :22:59. | :23:05.
Preston is to progress it can't rely on sentiment alone. I can | :23:05. | :23:08.
remember this bus station being built. It was an exciting new | :23:08. | :23:13.
building at this stage. It has severed Preston very well but we | :23:13. | :23:18.
have to look to the future and Preston needs to attract investment | :23:18. | :23:22.
and economic growth. So, global gem, or outdated relic? The debate goes | :23:22. | :23:32.
on. The years I have spent there stkwhr. The only good memory I have | :23:32. | :23:38.
is when I was in early 20s and was a student and the very lovely | :23:38. | :23:41.
Stuart Flinders was there and I thought he is off the telly. I want | :23:41. | :23:45.
to be a journalist. I went over and he was so lovely. He bought me a | :23:45. | :23:49.
cup of tea and talked to me. And the rest is history. I was his | :23:49. | :23:53.
first and only fan. We were in that cafe there good memories. If you | :23:53. | :23:57.
are queuing up for the bus you might get wet I think. Bothyouth | :23:57. | :24:00.
have coped beautifully with your first programme us with. Let us see | :24:00. | :24:06.
what your face looks like when you get north-west weather, because my | :24:06. | :24:11.
goodness it is coming. If you look at this map, the isobars are very | :24:11. | :24:14.
tightly backpacked. That is only half the story. There will be hefty | :24:14. | :24:18.
showers as you go through the day. Through the day today, well we made | :24:18. | :24:25.
the most of it in parts of the regionful Liverpool got to 20C. | :24:25. | :24:28.
That is the last day you will see temperatures like that. It is a | :24:28. | :24:33.
thing of the past. You saw from Richard's report it was raining in | :24:33. | :24:37.
Accrington and that is dropping south. So if you haven't seen a lot | :24:37. | :24:41.
it is coming. It is a narrow band so I think by the time we get to | :24:41. | :24:46.
nine or ten clock it will have gone. Then there will be a brief lull | :24:46. | :24:49.
then the showers pick up. The wind has been really quite brisk. It | :24:49. | :24:53.
continues to be brisk through the night, but it is still from the | :24:53. | :24:56.
south-west. It is forcing in those showers but the south-westerly wind | :24:56. | :25:02.
is relatively mild. In theory one or two rueful spots to go to nine. | :25:02. | :25:07.
For most you will be talking of ten and 11. Into tomorrow and all | :25:07. | :25:11.
change, the Met Office are warning we will have very strong wind in | :25:11. | :25:17.
the north-west. Gusting 50-60mph. Gale force at time. Strong | :25:17. | :25:20.
everywhere and a change of direction. It is west to north- | :25:20. | :25:23.
westerly. So the southern parts will be bat erred by them. They are | :25:23. | :25:28.
forcing in showers, so if you look at that it is a combination of | :25:28. | :25:31.
hefty prolonged showers, a glimpse of sunshine from time to time and a | :25:32. | :25:36.
lot of cloud cover. Within those showers there could be hail and | :25:36. | :25:40.
even some thunder, and your temperatures, from about 27 last | :25:40. | :25:47.
week, 13 or 14. Welcome back to the north-west! Thank you. Did you lay | :25:47. | :25:51.
that on especially? How has it been? Very good. Enjoyed it. Very | :25:51. | :25:55.
nice. Sorry about the weather. I Friel guilty because it was sunny | :25:55. | :26:00.
and I have arrived. We blame you. You did the tea round which is a | :26:00. | :26:03.
good sign. Well done you got through. She said is it true you | :26:03. | :26:09.
are going to get the teas in and looked at me. Gordon got, I was | :26:09. | :26:15. |
