Good evening. Welcome to North West Tonight with Roger Johnson... | :00:00. | :00:12.
And Annabel Tiffin. Our top story: Bill Roach's trial hears how his | :00:13. | :00:15.
comments in a television interview prompted one of his accusers to come | :00:16. | :00:20.
forward. We live with the from Preston Crown | :00:21. | :00:25.
Court. `` we are alive with the latest. | :00:26. | :00:26.
Also tonight: The epileptic teenager who hopes a | :00:27. | :00:29.
revolutionary American treatment can stop him suffering hundreds of fits | :00:30. | :00:31.
a week. What's the Mata with Man U? As | :00:32. | :00:34.
United prepare to smash their transfer record, the season hits a | :00:35. | :00:40.
new low. And when is a drain cover more than | :00:41. | :00:45.
just a drain cover? When it features in a limited edition calendar. We | :00:46. | :00:49.
will meet the man who will go to any lengths to find them. | :00:50. | :01:02.
Child sex abusers need to be sought out and are dealt with. That is what | :01:03. | :01:11.
the Coronation Street star William Roach said in a television interview | :01:12. | :01:18.
last year. The court watched excerpts of a show broadcast in New | :01:19. | :01:22.
Zealand. Comments made in the interview are said to have angered | :01:23. | :01:25.
one of the women who claims he indecently assaulted her as a | :01:26. | :01:28.
teenager. Our chief reporter Dave Guest has been following the hearing | :01:29. | :01:31.
at Preston Crown Court. Tell us more about this interview | :01:32. | :01:34.
and its relevance to Mr Roache's trial. What more did he say? He went | :01:35. | :01:41.
on to discuss his belief that if people where, in his words, pure | :01:42. | :01:46.
love and therefore lived it then these things would not happen to | :01:47. | :01:51.
them. That prompted the New Zealand interviewer to ask him this. To some | :01:52. | :01:56.
people, that sounds perhaps like you are saying victims bring things on | :01:57. | :01:58.
themselves. Is that what you're saying? No, not quite. And yet yes I | :01:59. | :02:10.
am. In that everything that happens to us is a result of what we have | :02:11. | :02:16.
been in previous lives. That interview was aired in the UK | :02:17. | :02:20.
in March of last year and among those watching it was one woman who | :02:21. | :02:24.
was particularly incensed. She went on to accuse the actor of indecently | :02:25. | :02:29.
assaulting her as a teenager in the 1960s. She gave evidence earlier | :02:30. | :02:32.
this week and veggie had been particularly upset that the apparent | :02:33. | :02:35.
suggestion that victims of abuse were being punished. `` and said she | :02:36. | :02:43.
had been particularly upset. This is the eight of the trial. He denies to | :02:44. | :02:50.
allegations of rape and five of indecent assault that have been made | :02:51. | :02:53.
by five woman. As you see, the eighth day of the | :02:54. | :02:57.
trial. It is coming to the end of the second week in a three`week | :02:58. | :02:58.
schedule. What else has been happening in | :02:59. | :03:02.
court today? The QC for Mr Roach has been | :03:03. | :03:09.
questioning a detective, in particular asking how thoroughly | :03:10. | :03:11.
police investigated these allegations before bringing it to | :03:12. | :03:13.
court. The jury will not be sitting here tomorrow. They will be back on | :03:14. | :03:18.
Monday when the prosecution is expected to conclude its gaze and | :03:19. | :03:21.
then the defence against. Thank you much. | :03:22. | :03:27.
When Van Davies was three years old he had a seizure. Since then, the | :03:28. | :03:30.
16`year`old from Manchester has developed uncontrollable epilepsy, | :03:31. | :03:32.
sometimes suffering several hundred fits a week. His condition can't be | :03:33. | :03:41.
helped by conventional drugs. But his parents say an oil made from | :03:42. | :03:44.
cannabis plants being trialled in America has had an astonishing | :03:45. | :03:47.
affect on other children like him. They're now trying to raise ?30 000 | :03:48. | :03:50.
to get him there. Abbie Jones reports. Goodbye. | :03:51. | :03:56.
This is Van's safety helmet. Some of his seizures are so severe he falls | :03:57. | :03:59.
violently forward, suffering terrible injuries. His parents say | :04:00. | :04:03.
they've destroyed his chance of a normal childhood. It is incredibly | :04:04. | :04:14.
difficult. Very intense. It is a 24`hour vigil. It is. You has broken | :04:15. | :04:21.
his nose, his teeth. He has had about 50 this week. | :04:22. | :04:32.
Van's tried drugs and diets. None have worked. But after years of | :04:33. | :04:35.
research, his parents heard about CBD oil from the cannabis plant The | :04:36. | :04:38.
oil, though, is low on the chemical that gets you high. But it's not | :04:39. | :04:44.
available in the UK. Now, the family are trying to raise ?30,000 to get | :04:45. | :04:49.
them from Manchester to America 4000 miles away, where the oil is | :04:50. | :04:54.
being trialled. American studies claim the oil has dramatically | :04:55. | :04:59.
helped children like him but a farmer ecologist, who has been | :05:00. | :05:05.
testing a pure form of oil, says many are regulated. There is a huge | :05:06. | :05:11.
strain on parents of children who are living with this condition day | :05:12. | :05:14.
in, day out. But that sliver of hope that one wants to grab onto should | :05:15. | :05:20.
not replace the need to do carefully controlled studies that prove that a | :05:21. | :05:26.
medicine is safe and effective. His parents insist that the effects | :05:27. | :05:35.
are minimal. We have researched it and are taking advice from families | :05:36. | :05:38.
who have been there and done it and who have no hope. This offers hope. | :05:39. | :05:44.
The Moors murderer Ian Brady, a patient at Ashworth high security | :05:45. | :05:47.
unit in Liverpool, has been re`admitted to hospital. He was | :05:48. | :05:50.
treated for two broken bones earlier this week after a fall. His | :05:51. | :05:55.
condition and further treatment is being reviewed. | :05:56. | :05:57.
A holocaust survivor has left more than ?1.5 million to the University | :05:58. | :06:01.
of Manchester. Professor Fanni Bogdanow, who was 86, spent most of | :06:02. | :06:05.
her career at the University as a student and lecturer. The academic, | :06:06. | :06:09.
who fled Nazi Germany as an 11`year old girl with the Kindertransport | :06:10. | :06:12.
mission, was considered one of the world's foremost scholars in her | :06:13. | :06:18.
area of study. A Manx company planning a new ferry | :06:19. | :06:21.
service between the Isle of Man and Liverpool say they won't be up and | :06:22. | :06:25.
running by March. Ellan Vannin Line was hoping to launch a rival to the | :06:26. | :06:29.
Steam Packet Company by offering a freight and passenger service. | :06:30. | :06:33.
Bosses say they're still waiting for a Government response to their | :06:34. | :06:36.
application so can't give a start date. | :06:37. | :06:39.
The Government says secret papers relating to the jailing of Liverpool | :06:40. | :06:42.
actor Ricky Tomlinson could be released next year. Mr Tomlinson and | :06:43. | :06:47.
other trades unionists were convicted of conspiracy and affray | :06:48. | :06:52.
following the 1972 builders' strike. In the Commons, MPs said there had | :06:53. | :07:05.
been a clear miscarriage of justice. We know now more than ever before | :07:06. | :07:10.
about the manipulation that scarred the working lives of 24 a day men. | :07:11. | :07:15.
They were wrongly convicted on trumped up charges with six of them | :07:16. | :07:19.
unjustly jailed. These papers are due to be reviewed by the Cabinet | :07:20. | :07:22.
Office for their security and sensitivity every ten years, as all | :07:23. | :07:27.
other papers are. They will fall to be reviewed next year. | :07:28. | :07:33.
An investigation is underway in Stockport into how two men fell from | :07:34. | :07:37.
the same roof on the same day, killing one of them. | :07:38. | :07:40.
The other man is seriously ill in hospital. The workmen were part of a | :07:41. | :07:43.
demolition team working on empty retail units. | :07:44. | :07:45.
The union, UCATT, which represents construction workers, says workmen | :07:46. | :07:48.
in the trade should blow the whistle on Health and Safety breaches. Mark | :07:49. | :07:53.
Edwardson reports. The men were working at vacant units | :07:54. | :07:59.
on Manchester Road in Heaton Norris on Tuesday. A 45`year`old fell 5 | :08:00. | :08:03.
feet through the roof at about :15. A second man, 42, fell through the | :08:04. | :08:06.
same roof just before 4pm. Both were taken to Wythenshawe Hospital. The | :08:07. | :08:10.
younger man died from his injuries in hospital. The other is in a | :08:11. | :08:19.
serious but stable condition. The construction worker's union says | :08:20. | :08:27.
that this is common. This is one of those situations that is easily | :08:28. | :08:31.
preventable. There are many protections that can be put in place | :08:32. | :08:35.
to stop these incidents occurring. Our view is that they are very | :08:36. | :08:39.
preventable. So far, no one from the contractor C | :08:40. | :08:42.
Smith and Sons has been available for comment. The Health and Safety | :08:43. | :08:44.
Executive have said... If there is a Health and Safety risk | :08:45. | :09:02.
and that is perceived, that they stopped work and reported to whoever | :09:03. | :09:04.
was responsible for Health and Safety onside, you can take advice | :09:05. | :09:11.
and form the union and we will give advice and clarity as to what it is | :09:12. | :09:14.
they are supposed to do. The manager is of the properties | :09:15. | :09:17.
said they were saddened to hear of the events of Tuesday and that their | :09:18. | :09:24.
thoughts are with the families of the men. They cannot comment further | :09:25. | :09:29.
until more is known. The UK Independence Party has | :09:30. | :09:32.
launched its campaign for the Wythenshawe and Sale East | :09:33. | :09:35.
by`election, triggered by the death of the Labour MP Paul Goggins. | :09:36. | :09:44.
Voting is three weeks today. UKIP says it wants to reduce immigration | :09:45. | :09:48.
and take Britain out of the European Union. Its candidate John Bickley | :09:49. | :09:51.
was born in the constituency and says he would make a good MP. Our | :09:52. | :09:54.
job is to represent the constituents. All too often, in the | :09:55. | :09:58.
last 20 years, people who have gone to Parliament have ended up towing | :09:59. | :10:01.
the party line, not supporting their constituents' view and I do not | :10:02. | :10:09.
intend to do that. An official Church of England report | :10:10. | :10:12.
has found that a group of parishioners on Merseyside behaved | :10:13. | :10:15.
so badly towards their new priest that the church was forced to move | :10:16. | :10:19.
him out. Father Simon Tibbs took over at St Faiths Church in Crosby | :10:20. | :10:22.
early last year. One of the issues where he and his | :10:23. | :10:26.
flock clashed was over the number of church events where alcohol could be | :10:27. | :10:29.
served. Some parishioners even withheld money from collections Our | :10:30. | :10:33.
Merseyside Reporter, Andy Gill, has the story. | :10:34. | :10:42.
This is Crosby's Parish Church, an imposing building on the main road. | :10:43. | :10:46.
Here, over the past months, an unholy row has festered between the | :10:47. | :10:51.
priest is of the churchgoers. The priest is fine and tips. He is now | :10:52. | :10:56.
serving at a nearby church. The retired bishop who read the official | :10:57. | :10:59.
report says the conflict comes down to a clash between reverend tips's | :11:00. | :11:03.
modern views and the very traditional views of some | :11:04. | :11:07.
parishioners. Over a period of time, a small group of people felt | :11:08. | :11:11.
that they owned the church. As a result, maybe it had become a bit | :11:12. | :11:18.
too much of a club rather than a church looking outward and trying to | :11:19. | :11:21.
serve its community. The report says Father Ted has at | :11:22. | :11:30.
times been insensitive and taken a more collaborative approach was | :11:31. | :11:32.
abusive support from the church could have been better. There is no | :11:33. | :11:36.
doubt where he directs the bulk of his criticism. At a small group of | :11:37. | :11:40.
officials and lay people here who's bullying has forced the priest out. | :11:41. | :11:49.
The report says the hostility by some members to reducing drinking | :11:50. | :11:55.
after church was out of proportion. Some withheld collection money in an | :11:56. | :11:59.
effort to get the church to remove the priest. That the form of | :12:00. | :12:05.
blackmail. `` that is a form of blackmail. | :12:06. | :12:06.
In a statement, Father Tibbs said... We contacted a number of officials | :12:07. | :12:17.
at the church. All declined to comment. | :12:18. | :12:27.
Still to come on North West Tonight: as the Commonwealth Games return to | :12:28. | :12:31.
the UK for the first time since Manchester, the countdown is on to | :12:32. | :12:34.
Glasgow. And the dream man. How a great new | :12:35. | :12:41.
calendar reveals the secrets of what lies between the Lake District. `` | :12:42. | :12:45.
the drain of man. Manchester United fans are coming to | :12:46. | :12:52.
terms with another major setback. The Reds were knocked out of the | :12:53. | :12:55.
Capitol One Cup semifinal on penalties by Sunderland last night | :12:56. | :12:58.
at Old Trafford and Richard Askam is there now. | :12:59. | :13:05.
Our correspondent. A lot has happened in the 24 hours since you | :13:06. | :13:10.
were there last night. Not just that defeat but the possibility of a | :13:11. | :13:13.
record transfer. How do United recover from this, Richard? | :13:14. | :13:18.
It is not going to be easy but things do not stand still here for | :13:19. | :13:21.
very long. We're expecting confirmation any time that Juan | :13:22. | :13:24.
Mata's ?37 million transfer from Chelsea has been completed. | :13:25. | :13:29.
Incidentally, we do not believe there is a problem but we do not | :13:30. | :13:32.
expect it to be completed until tomorrow. But there are major issues | :13:33. | :13:38.
on and off the pitch to solve. The latest list of football's richest | :13:39. | :13:41.
clubs came out today. And United have dropped out of the top three | :13:42. | :13:43.
for the first time. latest list of football's richest | :13:44. | :13:45.
clubs came out today. As you can see, Real Madrid, Barcleona and | :13:46. | :13:47.
European Champions Bayern Munich all have revenues greater than United's | :13:48. | :13:51.
423.8 million Euros. Manchester City are now in sixth, above the likes of | :13:52. | :13:56.
Chelsea, Arsenal and Juventus. That reflects their growing business | :13:57. | :14:00.
power. Liverpool, the 12th richest, are out of the top ten for the first | :14:01. | :14:04.
time even though their revenue grew by almost 10%. | :14:05. | :14:10.
are out of the top ten for the first time even though their revenue As | :14:11. | :14:12.
for United, wherever they go from here it was a night of real tension | :14:13. | :14:18.
last night. There was plenty of evidence that the changes that need | :14:19. | :14:22.
to be made are going to need to be fundamental after a really 10th | :14:23. | :14:29.
night here at Old Trafford. They almost got Sunderland napping. `0! | :14:30. | :14:37.
It was the sort of match to make the colour drained from even the most | :14:38. | :14:44.
fanatical Read. There is a chance. Into the net! He has done it! | :14:45. | :14:58.
Raphael. Saved! Sunderland are heading to the capital one cup | :14:59. | :15:05.
final. Probably a big mistake getting rid of the background star. | :15:06. | :15:09.
The club is too big for him and I really think he has to go. | :15:10. | :15:16.
COMMENTATOR: Tears of joy for the others. | :15:17. | :15:21.
I did not think we did well enough over the first and second half. It | :15:22. | :15:25.
looked as if we were going to get ourselves to the final until the | :15:26. | :15:27.
last minute. The tension cut through from | :15:28. | :15:29.
touchline to terraces. Another psychological blow to what was once | :15:30. | :15:35.
fortress Old Trafford. So how does David Moyes go about piecing that | :15:36. | :15:38.
sense of invincibility back together? Damian Hughes is a | :15:39. | :15:41.
psychologist who works with sports teams including Warrington Wolves | :15:42. | :15:49.
and West Bromwich Albion. You start looking at the emotional | :15:50. | :15:52.
intelligence of the players. How do they perform under pressure? At the | :15:53. | :15:55.
moment, there is a lot of obvious signs that they are not coping well | :15:56. | :16:00.
with change. Once you get into a situation where things are becoming | :16:01. | :16:04.
very difficult, how difficult psychologically is it to get out of | :16:05. | :16:09.
that cycle? It can be difficult What he needs to do is start to | :16:10. | :16:12.
identify who the people are that wanted to be with him and start to | :16:13. | :16:16.
use them and get them to start to establish the culture again. | :16:17. | :16:18.
A dressing room culture that, however he shapes it, David Moyes | :16:19. | :16:22.
knows needs to get United back to winning ways. Misery. More of it for | :16:23. | :16:33.
Manchester United and David Moyes. Out of the capital one cup. | :16:34. | :16:42.
It makes it worse for United, in many ways. Of course, Manchester | :16:43. | :16:47.
City are already in that final. A lot of fans will will see the | :16:48. | :17:01.
imminent arrival of Mata. `` they will see that as good. There will be | :17:02. | :17:07.
a week of which will perhaps be a further opportunity for David Moyes | :17:08. | :17:10.
to put his stamp on the club which has been used to winning for the | :17:11. | :17:13.
after drug under Sir Alex Ferguson. Richard, thank you very much. | :17:14. | :17:16.
Talking of Sir Alex Ferguson... Greater Manchester Police have | :17:17. | :17:19.
issued a reminder that 999 calls are for emergencies only, after a | :17:20. | :17:22.
drunken United fan rang the number and demanded to speak with Sir Alex | :17:23. | :17:25.
Ferguson after last night's match. A man from Crumpsall made the call | :17:26. | :17:29.
at around 10:30, minutes after his team lost the penalty shoot out | :17:30. | :17:33.
Could I speak to Sir Alex Ferguson, please? Not on a 999 line, I am | :17:34. | :17:40.
afraid. No. Please. Sir Alex Ferguson. The result is all wrong. | :17:41. | :17:45.
They had extra time and it was a total and utter load of rubbish | :17:46. | :17:51.
Sir, you're actually on the 999 emergency line. Is there any crime | :17:52. | :17:55.
you need to report to the police this evening? Crime. Yes, I will | :17:56. | :18:01.
report a crime. And what crime is that? The crime is that Manchester | :18:02. | :18:06.
United... Manchester United were absolutely knackered. | :18:07. | :18:19.
Slightly colourful language. On their Facebook page, GMP suggest | :18:20. | :18:22.
fans wanting to speak to Sir Alex Ferguson ring Manchester United and | :18:23. | :18:26.
not the police. Although he does not work there any more! Deems to be | :18:27. | :18:30.
there a lot. On a more serious note, they are | :18:31. | :18:33.
recommending callers use the 10 service for genuine, non`emergency | :18:34. | :18:40.
police related inquiries. I would probably say that was not even a | :18:41. | :18:44.
police inquiry in any way, was it? I do not think so. Maybe some United | :18:45. | :18:49.
fans would say that was an emergency. | :18:50. | :18:50.
Now, preparations for this year s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow are | :18:51. | :18:53.
well underway for many of the region's athletes. In fact, the | :18:54. | :18:56.
games open exactly six months today. More on that in a moment but first, | :18:57. | :19:00.
who could forget the spectacular memories from the 2002 Commonwealth | :19:01. | :19:07.
Games held here in Manchester. Here's a quick reminder. | :19:08. | :19:16.
It is my pleasure, in this my golden jubilee year, to declare the 17th | :19:17. | :19:19.
Commonwealth Games open. # You are chasing the moon | :19:20. | :19:46.
# Reaching out to touch the stars # But you land too soon | :19:47. | :19:53.
# What will it take to make you see # The way things really are? | :19:54. | :20:02.
Great images, great memories. That was probably an appropriate song for | :20:03. | :20:05.
the person we are going to talk to. Yes, the 2014 Commonwealth Games | :20:06. | :20:08.
open exactly six months today in Glasgow and the Commonwealth baton | :20:09. | :20:11.
is currently touring the globe. We can now cross live to our reporter | :20:12. | :20:15.
Mark Beaumont, who is currently with the baton in the Seychelles. Lucky | :20:16. | :20:20.
you! Where has the baton been? When can we expect it to reach us? The | :20:21. | :20:28.
bat on started October nine at Buckingham Palace and has been all | :20:29. | :20:33.
the way through Asia, Jones Pacific `` down to the Pacific and here in | :20:34. | :20:39.
Africa. It has been an incredibly exciting journey to follow. Meeting | :20:40. | :20:41.
all of that leads coming to Glasgow the summer and one of the highlights | :20:42. | :20:46.
was seeing Australia's early preparations for the Gold Coast | :20:47. | :20:50.
games which are to follow in 20 8. Judy was a brilliant day because | :20:51. | :20:54.
they decided six months ago to celebrate `` six months to go until | :20:55. | :20:58.
the games to take it diving. They had to protect the Queen's message | :20:59. | :21:02.
very well. It will make it back to England on the 31st of May and will | :21:03. | :21:09.
be there until the 13th of June It's 12 years since the Manchester | :21:10. | :21:12.
games, some fantastic memories. How are the Glasgow games shaping up? | :21:13. | :21:20.
Well, before I left, I got a chance to see some of the venues and they | :21:21. | :21:24.
certainly look fantastic. I am sure a lot of people will remember that | :21:25. | :21:27.
grand finale of the Queen's battled really in Manchester, when Kirsty | :21:28. | :21:32.
Howard and David Beckham made their entrance. They were the final battle | :21:33. | :21:38.
invaders in 20 02. Hopefully there will be a similar finale in Celtic | :21:39. | :21:44.
Park in July this year. It will be the follow`up home games after | :21:45. | :21:46.
Manchester so we hope for similar success. | :21:47. | :21:51.
We do indeed. Regular at. I think we can definitely expect to | :21:52. | :21:56.
see the bat on in this part of the world. | :21:57. | :21:58.
Now a story straight from the gutter press. The gutters of the Lake | :21:59. | :22:02.
District to be precise. Because a lengthsman near Ulverston has | :22:03. | :22:04.
produced a calendar to raise money for his local parish council. And | :22:05. | :22:13.
the pin`ups? Well, they're photos of the drains and grass verges that he | :22:14. | :22:16.
works on. Very nice. They are nice. Perhaps not | :22:17. | :22:18.
surprisingly, it's a very limited edition calendar. But Archie Workman | :22:19. | :22:21.
is passionate about his drains and hopes orders will soon start | :22:22. | :22:24.
flooding in. Naomi Cornwell's been to meet him. I knew it was there | :22:25. | :22:30.
somewhere! You might never notice the drains in | :22:31. | :22:34.
the road... ..but Archie does. This was made in Dudley. It is a dark | :22:35. | :22:48.
tale ACPO fall. 5804. Exciting? Spielberg not particularly because | :22:49. | :22:50.
it is quite thin. I like the heavy ones. | :22:51. | :22:52.
As lengthsman for the parish of Colton, he maintains the roads and | :22:53. | :22:56.
gulleys over 20 square miles of the Lake District. An area containing | :22:57. | :23:04.
thousands of drains. I have found drain covers found in Barrow, the | :23:05. | :23:09.
founder. All of the founders have gone. It is a Tesco supermarket now. | :23:10. | :23:14.
There is a famous name from Blackburn. | :23:15. | :23:16.
So he decided to bring them to the public's attention, creating a | :23:17. | :23:22.
calendar of curiosities. Profits are going to the parish council. It is | :23:23. | :23:25.
not your average calendar and I am hoping it gets into the UK's top ten | :23:26. | :23:31.
calendars and challenges something like tattooed librarians or yoga for | :23:32. | :23:32.
cows. Now, you might think that all drain | :23:33. | :23:36.
covers are the same but no, you d be mistaken because behind every one is | :23:37. | :23:44.
a different story. There we are That is a heavy one! What is the | :23:45. | :23:48.
most unusual thing you have ever found? I pulled a seven foot slug of | :23:49. | :23:55.
free route out of the drain. From there to the other side of the road. | :23:56. | :23:59.
The road was blocked and flooded and it was this that was blocking the | :24:00. | :24:03.
drain. It is in March on the calendar. | :24:04. | :24:05.
Archie's hoping his drain calendar could lead to stardom and floods of | :24:06. | :24:10.
offers. It could be a book or film. Confessions Of A Lengthening. You | :24:11. | :24:16.
never know. I particularly like April, the slug. | :24:17. | :24:22.
It is very picturesque. Ferritin. If you want to get hold of | :24:23. | :24:29.
a copy, the parish council website is the place to go to. There might | :24:30. | :24:33.
well have been a bit of snow there this afternoon. It started to snow | :24:34. | :24:36.
in parts of the region this evening. We know some people from Buxton have | :24:37. | :24:41.
been in touch to say that it is snowing there but look at these from | :24:42. | :24:45.
Windermere. They show a hail Stone are gradually closing in. | :24:46. | :24:50.
That is amazing. One minute, as you can see, bright sunshine and then | :24:51. | :24:54.
gradually take a look at how the storm closes on and the sky becomes | :24:55. | :24:58.
completely dark. That is... Brilliant pictures! It was | :24:59. | :25:03.
definitely snowing. I spoke to somebody on the' six and it was | :25:04. | :25:07.
going. How is it looking for the rest of the region? Or smack we have | :25:08. | :25:11.
had everything but the kitchen thing and there is more of that. I am | :25:12. | :25:18.
promising you everything and it seems as though we had all that | :25:19. | :25:21.
today. A lot of sunshine, heavy showers, hail, thunder and | :25:22. | :25:25.
lightning. You're going to see some rain tonight. The rain lingers into | :25:26. | :25:30.
tomorrow. A bit more rain on Saturday. Proper, as in heavy, rain | :25:31. | :25:36.
on Sunday. It will also be quite windy and just a little bit of rain | :25:37. | :25:40.
on Monday. Generally, you will need your umbrella at hand. For this | :25:41. | :25:43.
evening, we have a yellow weather warning for ice from the Met Office. | :25:44. | :25:48.
This is because we have had a lot of showers around this evening. They | :25:49. | :25:55.
have eased their `` eased away. Underneath clear skies it is quite | :25:56. | :25:59.
cold. We have some frost and anything lying on the ground is | :26:00. | :26:03.
likely to freeze over. That ice warning is valid until 11am | :26:04. | :26:07.
tomorrow. Then we head into Dawn was clear skies but you can see another | :26:08. | :26:10.
line of rain lying in wait and already falling over the Isle of Man | :26:11. | :26:15.
by dawn. Quite a breezy night also. Temperatures down very low. For | :26:16. | :26:21.
tomorrow, it is going to turn very wet and quite windy. We start of | :26:22. | :26:26.
very cloudy. Some patchy, light rain in the morning but you can see that | :26:27. | :26:29.
turning heavier and beginning to violence in the afternoon. The winds | :26:30. | :26:33.
are really picking up, particularly over the course. That may now be | :26:34. | :26:37.
persisted all day and it gets heavier by late afternoon. It could | :26:38. | :26:42.
be quite a miserable day, with lots of showers water on the roads. Do | :26:43. | :26:47.
take care. In terms of temperate, just six Celsius but with the wind, | :26:48. | :26:51.
it will not feel warm at all. For Saturday, just a few showers and | :26:52. | :26:56.
then on Sunday, we are going to see more heavy rain and some very, very | :26:57. | :27:00.
strong winds. Watch this space. Thank you very much. | :27:01. | :27:02.
If you were watching on Tuesday you'll know we had Bob Blakeley on | :27:03. | :27:06.
the sofa. Bob's the warehouse worker from Stockport who impressed the | :27:07. | :27:10.
judges on BBC One's The Voice at the weekend but didn't get picked. | :27:11. | :27:15.
Here are the pictures of him singing. He was back on the sofa | :27:16. | :27:22.
this morning on BBC Breakfast when composer and songwriter Mike Batt | :27:23. | :27:25.
offered him six month's mentoring in the hope it will lead to a recording | :27:26. | :27:29.
deal. And good luck! Very emotional when he revealed the | :27:30. | :27:34.
news. Well done. We wish you well. That is it from us this evening | :27:35. | :27:41.
We will be back at 1020 5p with the latest on the rain. Buy. | :27:42. | :27:42.
Goodbye. `` 10:25pm. | :27:43. | :27:49. |
