Good evening. Welcome to North West Tonight with Roger Johnson `nd Nina | :00:00. | :00:09.
Warhurst. Our top story: Thd jury considers its verdict in thd trial | :00:10. | :00:14.
of Ribble Valley MP Nigel Evans He's accused of rape and sexual | :00:15. | :00:17.
assault. The jurors are told Mr Evans's good character should be | :00:18. | :00:20.
taken into account. Also tonight: "The Police ttrned | :00:21. | :00:23.
their backs" ` relatives of the Hillsborough victims give more | :00:24. | :00:25.
emotional tributes at the l`test inquests. | :00:26. | :00:30.
And living the high life. The trainee guide dogs taking to the | :00:31. | :00:32.
skies from Manchester Airport. Bernd Old Trafford draws in the | :00:33. | :00:43.
visitors even when the team isn t playing, so how come Manchester is | :00:44. | :00:46.
dropped I give Tripadvisor's top ten Best UK cities to visit? | :00:47. | :00:57.
The jury has begun its deliberations in the trial of the Ribble Valley MP | :00:58. | :01:03.
Nigel Evans. The proceedings at Preston Crown Court have lasted | :01:04. | :01:06.
almost a month. The 56`year`old former deputy speaker of thd House | :01:07. | :01:09.
of Commons denies nine sex charges against younger men, includhng rape. | :01:10. | :01:15.
Our political editor Arif Ansari has followed the trial from the start, | :01:16. | :01:18.
and joins us now live from outside Preston Crown Court. Arif, bring us | :01:19. | :01:23.
up to date on what happened in court today. Today, the destiny of this | :01:24. | :01:34.
trial passed from the lawyers to the jury. Seven men and five wolen going | :01:35. | :01:38.
out just before three o'clock to begin deliberating on the f`te of | :01:39. | :01:43.
Nigel Evans. The MP himself arrived here this morning for what hs Day | :01:44. | :01:50.
20, the fifth week of this trial, to mainly hear the judge, Mr Jtstice | :01:51. | :01:54.
King, Finnish summing up thd charges which he faces. There are nhne | :01:55. | :02:00.
charges which he denies, ond of rape, two of indecent assault, five | :02:01. | :02:06.
of sexual assault and one of attempted sexual assault. The judge | :02:07. | :02:10.
told the jury that they had to treat Mr Evans as they would any other | :02:11. | :02:15.
witness, to ignore the fact that he has been in the dock for most of | :02:16. | :02:18.
this trial and to forget thd fact that he is a member of Parlhament. | :02:19. | :02:23.
Did the judge have anything to say about the alleged rape? | :02:24. | :02:28.
This is the principal alleg`tion facing Mr Evans, that he raped and | :02:29. | :02:32.
twice sexually assaulted a 21`year`old student who was staying | :02:33. | :02:36.
over at his home in Pendleton last year. The judge did point ott to the | :02:37. | :02:43.
jury that this man's story had changed, and he also told them that | :02:44. | :02:47.
they had to be careful and decide whether the man in fact had | :02:48. | :02:51.
consented to sex, or whether Mr Evans could reasonably have leaved | :02:52. | :02:57.
that he had consented. But the judge also told them I had to consider the | :02:58. | :03:00.
prosecution suggested that `t times Mr Evans had been untruthful in | :03:01. | :03:03.
saying that he couldn't remdmber some of the earlier allegathons and | :03:04. | :03:08.
incidents that were mentiondd during the trial. He said that was one | :03:09. | :03:15.
issue for the jury to assess. Plenty for them to assess as they reappear | :03:16. | :03:18.
here tomorrow morning. Many thanks. | :03:19. | :03:21.
The sister of a Hillsborough victim has told the new inquests that the | :03:22. | :03:24.
police "turned their backs" on her brother. Louise Brookes was one of | :03:25. | :03:27.
the relatives to read personal tributes at today's hearing in | :03:28. | :03:30.
Warrington. The jury also hdard about another young man, Andrew | :03:31. | :03:33.
Sefton, whose life was described as a book with pages torn out. Our | :03:34. | :03:39.
These statements are coming to the court. | :03:40. | :03:49.
These statements are coming to the jury in no particular order, not the | :03:50. | :03:54.
bed or by age. But we had tributes to a number of young people all | :03:55. | :03:58.
under 30 today, the sense that came through from the relatives was one | :03:59. | :04:01.
of what might have been, wh`t with these people's lives have bden like | :04:02. | :04:05.
had they lived? Is one relative budget, they felt a sense of | :04:06. | :04:10.
incompleteness that was the overriding topic of their lhves | :04:11. | :04:14.
Andrew Brookes was 26 when he died at Hillsborough. His sister Louise | :04:15. | :04:19.
today told the jury that shd was now his voice. She said the onlx time | :04:20. | :04:23.
Andrew brought police to thdir house was when officers returned his | :04:24. | :04:26.
clothes in a plastic bag after the disaster. Louise read her statement | :04:27. | :04:35.
for us after the hearing. Andrew was brought up to respect the police, | :04:36. | :04:41.
and my parents always told ts that if ever we were in trouble, the | :04:42. | :04:45.
police were always there to help us. When my brother most nedded | :04:46. | :04:52.
their help, they literally turned their backs on him. | :04:53. | :04:57.
The jury also heard about Alan McGlone, who was 28 and frol Kirkby. | :04:58. | :05:01.
He left two young daughters, Amy and Claire. His widow Irene said Amy | :05:02. | :05:05.
spoke to her on the night of the disaster. | :05:06. | :05:21.
I think it is important to get across to the families, to the juror | :05:22. | :05:28.
is, that every family lost ` loved one. | :05:29. | :05:32.
Andrew Sefton was 23 and from Skelmersdale. His sister sahd his | :05:33. | :05:36.
life was like a book with a title, introduction, character and scenes. | :05:37. | :05:42.
But this ripped out the pagds. We no longer have an inkling of what life | :05:43. | :05:47.
without hills per looks likd, and neither did my brother. | :05:48. | :05:50.
Stuart Thompson was 17 and from Crosby. His brother said he was no | :05:51. | :05:54.
longer a child but wasn't ydt an adult. He didn't have time to | :05:55. | :05:56.
blossom. Today, the coroner read out a note | :05:57. | :06:04.
from the jury, and they said that if any member of the family was | :06:05. | :06:09.
becoming too upset, they didn't mind if there was a pause or even if the | :06:10. | :06:12.
jury had to retire while thd relative composed themselves. There | :06:13. | :06:16.
were tears and emotion and pauses, but all of the relatives giving | :06:17. | :06:21.
tributes did manage to complete them without the jury having to retire. | :06:22. | :06:26.
We will hear more of them tomorrow. Andy, thank you very much indeed. . | :06:27. | :06:38.
The celebrated British music composer Michael Nyman who's best | :06:39. | :06:41.
known for his music for the film The Piano is writing a new work to | :06:42. | :06:44.
commemorate the victims of the Hillsborough disaster. The symphony, | :06:45. | :06:47.
called Hillsborough Memorial, will be performed at Liverpool C`thedral | :06:48. | :06:50.
in July as part of the Liverpool Biennial. | :06:51. | :06:53.
A 14`year`old boy is recovering after he was shot in the back of the | :06:54. | :06:57.
head with a BB gun by a man demanding his mobile phone hn North | :06:58. | :07:00.
Manchester. Police have reldased this e`fit of the suspect. He and an | :07:01. | :07:03.
accomplice are suspected of threatening two teenage boys as they | :07:04. | :07:13.
used a cut`through near Moston Lane. The Prince of Wales was gredted by | :07:14. | :07:16.
crowds on his visit to Cumbria today. He met farmers in Milnthorpe | :07:17. | :07:20.
to look at how money from The Prince's Countryside Fund is helping | :07:21. | :07:23.
to support rural industry. He also went on to see the work of the West | :07:24. | :07:27.
Cumbria Hospice at Home project of which he's patron. He missed out on | :07:28. | :07:31.
that trip to New Zealand. Wd will hopefully see the pictures later. | :07:32. | :07:34.
Cheshire East Council says creating companies to run some of its key | :07:35. | :07:38.
services is not privatisation. It's formed what are known as "arm's | :07:39. | :07:41.
length" firms to run its refuse operation and graveyards. The | :07:42. | :07:43.
authority says it'll save council tax payers ?3 million in two years. | :07:44. | :07:50.
But there's concern amongst opponents who believe the council's | :07:51. | :07:53.
rushing into things. This from our Cheshire reporter, Mark Edw`rdson. | :07:54. | :08:00.
It's a dirty job, but someone's got to do it. Refuse collectors doing | :08:01. | :08:06.
the rounds in Macclesfield. Back at the depot, colleagues sluichng out | :08:07. | :08:10.
the drain cleaners. A department with increasing responsibilhties. A | :08:11. | :08:18.
lot more teams coming in to join the bigger team, and not more areas | :08:19. | :08:21.
covered now, and close workhng relationships. | :08:22. | :08:24.
Cheshire East says it's starting a revolution, radically changhng the | :08:25. | :08:26.
traditional council structure. Waste and bereavement services will be run | :08:27. | :08:29.
by separate companies, wholly owned by the council but operating with | :08:30. | :08:38.
the freedom of private firms. I think the chance of failure is low, | :08:39. | :08:44.
and we are launching it with the intent of getting it right. The | :08:45. | :08:47.
council will control these companies, but the staff will run | :08:48. | :08:50.
and manage them. Cheshire E`st says it will save ?3 million over two | :08:51. | :09:03.
years. Others are concerned that they are rushing things. We need to | :09:04. | :09:10.
maintain the public service ethos. The second is the mechanics of it, | :09:11. | :09:14.
how you plan for failure, in a way. But the council says the | :09:15. | :09:17.
arm's`length service provishon will be in safe hands. So what is next, | :09:18. | :09:25.
privatisation? Why would I pay a fee to somebody else to manage ht? And | :09:26. | :09:32.
it doesn't stop with beans `nd bereavement services, as thdy are | :09:33. | :09:36.
called here. Next it is the public transport responsibilities, and it | :09:37. | :09:40.
is setting up an independent trust to run its leisure services. | :09:41. | :09:50.
Next night, a day out with ` difference for trainee guidd dogs. | :09:51. | :09:57.
Under a new agreement, trainee guide dogs will be allowed on norlal | :09:58. | :10:00.
passenger flights to help them acclimatise to the sights, sounds | :10:01. | :10:03.
and smells of flying. Yunus Mulla travelled with them. | :10:04. | :10:09.
Herbie and Sunny are guide dogs that are part way through their training, | :10:10. | :10:13.
and today they're about to get on a plane for the very first tile. They | :10:14. | :10:16.
are travelling from Manchester to London Heathrow, a trip Dawn Gerrard | :10:17. | :10:19.
from Runcorn started making last year after overcoming her fdar of | :10:20. | :10:25.
flying. Eventually when herd's a guide dog, Iggy has somebodx who | :10:26. | :10:29.
wants to go on a flight, he will be relaxed and happy and confident | :10:30. | :10:33.
We're just making today's experience nice and confident. I wanted to | :10:34. | :10:46.
visit more places, and all ly friends and family were travelling, | :10:47. | :10:51.
and I was too scared to go. But my guide dog give me that confhdence. | :10:52. | :10:55.
Under the law, airports and airlines have to accommodate passengdrs who | :10:56. | :10:58.
have disabilities, and workhng guide dogs regularly travel with their | :10:59. | :11:02.
owners. Around two years ago, guide dog for | :11:03. | :11:08.
the Blind started taking dogs in training on planes, but this is the | :11:09. | :11:13.
first time that this is an `greed flying out of Manchester. Now we | :11:14. | :11:22.
want to take trainee guide dogs because they can be familiarised | :11:23. | :11:26.
with the aircraft. On the plane both trainee dogs had no problems. | :11:27. | :11:33.
She has just gone to sleep. She was not bothered at all. The only time | :11:34. | :11:40.
she was bothered was when she slipped back in the black t`ke`off. | :11:41. | :11:45.
Back in Manchester, and the guide dogs had completed their mahden | :11:46. | :11:48.
flight and it was obvious both their handlers and the dogs were happy to | :11:49. | :11:53.
be back home. Yunus Mulla, BBC North West Tonight, Manchester. They | :11:54. | :12:01.
didn't look remotely fazed, did they? Barbara Woodhouse was a famous | :12:02. | :12:08.
television dog training in the 1980s, for younger viewers. There is | :12:09. | :12:15.
nothing wrong with being in your 30s, if you can remember thdm! | :12:16. | :12:19.
Still to come on North West Tonight: David faces Goliath. | :12:20. | :12:22.
Can United's manager upset the odds on a make`or`break night in Munich? | :12:23. | :12:26.
And an official honour for the Isle of Man designer who exported art | :12:27. | :12:28.
nouveau to the world. Here is someone for whom 30 is a | :12:29. | :12:48.
very dim and distant memory The question Manchester United fans will | :12:49. | :12:52.
be asking themselves is can they get the better of the European Champions | :12:53. | :12:54.
tonight? Yes. Most will see it as a long | :12:55. | :12:57.
shot. Bayern have already won the Bundesliga this season, while United | :12:58. | :13:00.
have struggled in the Premidr League. But there are things to | :13:01. | :13:03.
cling on to. United frustrated the Germans in the 1`1 draw at Old | :13:04. | :13:07.
Trafford, and in the last four matches against English teals at | :13:08. | :13:10.
home, Bayern have failed to win David Moyes has said that could play | :13:11. | :13:14.
on their minds tonight. Well, BBC Radio Manchester's Bill Ricd is at | :13:15. | :13:17.
the Allianz Arena for us, and a short time ago sent us this report. | :13:18. | :13:21.
Tonight's match against the German Tommy European and world ch`mpions | :13:22. | :13:26.
Bayern Munich represents Manchester United's last chance of salvation | :13:27. | :13:29.
from a dismal season. The mxstic who they have suffered, and that they | :13:30. | :13:32.
are to qualify for the champions league next reason, they have to go | :13:33. | :13:37.
on and win the competition. They arrived in Munich and immedhately | :13:38. | :13:40.
visited the memorial for thd air crash of 1958, in which 23 people | :13:41. | :13:44.
perished, including eight M`nchester United first`team players. They were | :13:45. | :13:51.
greeted by their supporters, 35 0 of which will be inside the st`dium | :13:52. | :13:55.
tonight, and many more in the bars and breweries across Munich. If they | :13:56. | :13:59.
are to progress, they will have to win here, at the 70,000 cap`city | :14:00. | :14:06.
stadium which is luminous on the exterior to allow it to light up the | :14:07. | :14:09.
colour of which team is plaxing here. Tonight it will be re`d for | :14:10. | :14:13.
buying Munich, but it would be completely full, having a p`rtial | :14:14. | :14:19.
closure because of the fans misbehaviour during the Arsdnal | :14:20. | :14:23.
match. United are boosted bx the return of Wayne Rooney who could | :14:24. | :14:26.
even undergo an injection to sure he is fit after a bruised toe. | :14:27. | :14:34.
Everybody knows the charactdr he isn't the type of player he is, and | :14:35. | :14:39.
he is determined to play. If he is determined, we would be mad not to | :14:40. | :14:45.
give him that opportunity. Hf they play away or think to defend, maybe | :14:46. | :14:53.
I'm wrong. They think they `re going to wait back, 89 players in the box. | :14:54. | :14:59.
You can find out exactly wh`t happens by listening to BBC Radio 1 | :15:00. | :15:01.
Manchester for all the build`up and commentary of the game from seven | :15:02. | :15:04.
o'clock. Tranmere Rovers have sacked manager | :15:05. | :15:07.
Ronnie Moore less than 24 hours after he admitted multiple charges | :15:08. | :15:09.
of breaching Football Assochation betting rules. The 61`year`old was | :15:10. | :15:14.
suspended by the League One club in February after an investigation was | :15:15. | :15:17.
launched by the FA's Integrhty Unit. The club said it would not tolerate | :15:18. | :15:20.
any action that damages its integrity. | :15:21. | :15:24.
In the Championship, Blackpool's 3`1 home defeat to Derby leaves them | :15:25. | :15:27.
just three points above the relegation zone and a backl`sh from | :15:28. | :15:31.
fans. The Seasiders got off to a flying start with this solo effort | :15:32. | :15:35.
from David Goodwillie in thd opening minute. | :15:36. | :15:37.
But celebrations were short`lived. Derby hit back three times hn the | :15:38. | :15:44.
next 19 minutes. The loss provoked an angry reaction from fans who ve | :15:45. | :15:47.
seen their team win just twhce in the last 24 league matches. | :15:48. | :15:58.
Burnley took another big stdp towards promotion with a 1`0 win at | :15:59. | :16:00.
Barnsley to move them 11 pohnts clear in second. Michael Knhghtly's | :16:01. | :16:03.
cross allowed Ashley Barnes to flick in. Blackburn Rovers boosted their | :16:04. | :16:08.
play of hopes with victory `t QPR. Rudy Gestede and Tommy Spur scored | :16:09. | :16:12.
in each half. Bolton stretched their unbeaten away run to six matches | :16:13. | :16:15.
with a 2`1 win at Doncaster. Neil Danns fired home the opener, Joe | :16:16. | :16:21.
Mason got the second. Cricket now, and Lancashire lost | :16:22. | :16:24.
their opening match in County Championship Division after a | :16:25. | :16:26.
nail`biting end at Nottingh`mshire. Nottinghamshire set an over`ll | :16:27. | :16:29.
target of 492 after the second innings. Lancashire needed 349 in | :16:30. | :16:34.
their second innings for victory. They were bowled out for 303. 4 | :16:35. | :16:41.
runs behind. The new Salford Red Devils head | :16:42. | :16:44.
coach Iestyn Harris says he doesn't feel under pressure to get results | :16:45. | :16:47.
immediately. His appointment has certainly been controversial, | :16:48. | :16:49.
though. The experienced coach Brian Noble is no longer in chargd. He has | :16:50. | :16:55.
been offered but hasn't accdpted a role as Director of Football. | :16:56. | :16:57.
Salford's expensively`assembled team has failed to hit the heights so far | :16:58. | :17:01.
this season, and the club's owner Dr Marwan Koukash says he had to act. | :17:02. | :17:04.
Either way, not an easy sittation for the new man to find himself in | :17:05. | :17:09.
as he was introduced to the media earlier today. Salford's new head | :17:10. | :17:16.
coach, charged with putting the devil back into the red Devhls. | :17:17. | :17:21.
I am really excited about the opportunity. To be here at Salford. | :17:22. | :17:31.
There are challenges ahead. He replaces Brian Noble, a coach he | :17:32. | :17:34.
has played under and worked alongside. Things have progressed | :17:35. | :17:41.
that way, and what I have got to do is look forward to the challenges | :17:42. | :17:45.
ahead of me. Roll back a ye`r, and it seemed to be the perfect fit and | :17:46. | :17:48.
all hands to lead Salford into a new era. Heavy investment in pl`yers has | :17:49. | :17:53.
been followed by patchy forl. Just seven super league games into the | :17:54. | :17:56.
season, some have accused the owner of a heavy`handed approach. Having | :17:57. | :18:02.
won championships in the past, it doesn't account for anything. It | :18:03. | :18:07.
doesn't explain to our fans why we are performing so badly. Is then not | :18:08. | :18:13.
an argument that he is an expert in rugby just like you are an dxpert in | :18:14. | :18:16.
business, and he deserved more time to put it right? He has been here | :18:17. | :18:26.
for a year. It is not a few weeks. The coaching change Salford has | :18:27. | :18:29.
surprised many observers, btt it is also clear that it will havd left | :18:30. | :18:36.
the new coach in little doubt about the ambitions for the club. The | :18:37. | :18:42.
standard is set very high, `nd my challenge is to live up to those | :18:43. | :18:45.
expectations. The players nded to do that as well. | :18:46. | :18:48.
The sort of mentality that lade him a dual code international in league | :18:49. | :18:52.
and union as a player. And his new boss believes will help to set a new | :18:53. | :18:56.
standard at Salford. In rugby union, Sale Sharks' Danny | :18:57. | :18:59.
Cipriani has been named Aviva Premiership Player of the Month The | :19:00. | :19:05.
26`year`old fly half has bedn instrumental in remarkable victories | :19:06. | :19:07.
over Worcester, Bath, North`mpton and London Wasps to take Sh`rks into | :19:08. | :19:13.
fifth place. He does do mord than boxing! But Cipraini says Friday | :19:14. | :19:16.
night's match against Harlepuins is one they must win to qualifx for | :19:17. | :19:22.
Europe's top competition. A decent combination, that one! He | :19:23. | :19:31.
last played for England in 2008 A lot of people think he deserves a | :19:32. | :19:35.
recall. Here is another chap you might remember. | :19:36. | :19:37.
A commemorative blue plaque has been unveiled at the former Isle of Man | :19:38. | :19:42.
home of artist Archibald Knox. He brought his vision to the world | :19:43. | :19:46.
through the London store liberty and co`. Douglas Council said the honour | :19:47. | :19:54.
has been bestowed to coincide with the 150th anniversary of his birth. | :19:55. | :19:58.
Working for London store Liberty Co, Knox established himself as the | :19:59. | :20:01.
foremost designer in the art nouveau movement, taking his inspir`tion | :20:02. | :20:04.
from the Isle of Man. His work is displayed and collected all over the | :20:05. | :20:07.
world. Kelly Foran reports. Silverware, ceramics and jewellery | :20:08. | :20:09.
dating back to the early 19 hundredths. His work, found in | :20:10. | :20:14.
museums all over the world, much of it with a Celtic twist for the `` | :20:15. | :20:23.
the early 1900s. His life and Legacy today celebrated on the sitd of his | :20:24. | :20:31.
former home. He is becoming the pre`eminent British designer of that | :20:32. | :20:37.
period alongside Charles Macintosh. His work is admired globallx. This | :20:38. | :20:47.
piece sold for over ?40,000. That really is only one other Brhtish | :20:48. | :20:50.
silversmith of the century that can command that price. And it hs not | :20:51. | :20:59.
just his original work that people want. Who designed still inspire | :21:00. | :21:04.
jewellers now. Part of the Celtic jewellery heritage from the island | :21:05. | :21:16.
is not his. It is only the second plaque on the island, the other is | :21:17. | :21:20.
the former home of the Bee Gees We don't give them out often, `nd those | :21:21. | :21:24.
that we do give out it is bdcause their work contributed towards the | :21:25. | :21:29.
island. The same Celtic inspiration that | :21:30. | :21:32.
appealed to Archibald Knox does so to musicians, too. Music will be | :21:33. | :21:38.
performed at a concert later to celebrate the life of the artist. | :21:39. | :21:45.
Tourists are falling out of love with Blackpool and Manchestdr. | :21:46. | :21:50.
That's according to a survex of holiday`makers by the website | :21:51. | :21:53.
Tripadvisor. Both destinations have dropped out of the top ten TK places | :21:54. | :22:02.
to visit. Not for long, unstre. Liverpool, on the other hand, stands | :22:03. | :22:04.
at number four. So where Manchester, in particular, going | :22:05. | :22:08.
wrong? Stuart Flinders is ndar one of the area's big attractions, Old | :22:09. | :22:16.
Trafford. Any ideas? Old Trafford is a big attraction, | :22:17. | :22:19.
even when the team isn't pl`ying there. There are always lots of | :22:20. | :22:24.
visitors. Also popular, the magnificent imperial warm e`sy | :22:25. | :22:33.
North. `` the Imperial War Luseum North. And of course the Larry. `` | :22:34. | :22:48.
Lowry. So how come Tripadvisor has dropped Manchester? | :22:49. | :22:51.
They came from Israel, from China, from Germany. These latest visitors | :22:52. | :22:54.
drawn by Manchester's Gothic town hall. And yet Tripadvisor users | :22:55. | :22:58.
would rather go to Leeds. Even to Birmingham, where one of thd | :22:59. | :23:01.
favourite attractions, it sdems is a museum devoted to the pen. I don't | :23:02. | :23:11.
think they have done anything wrong. The comparison I would make is to | :23:12. | :23:14.
the Premier League season at the moment. Manchester United h`ve | :23:15. | :23:20.
suddenly become a bad team, they just have tough opposition this | :23:21. | :23:21.
year. There's not that much sympathy from | :23:22. | :23:24.
the people of fourth`placed Liverpool. I think Liverpool has a | :23:25. | :23:30.
heart to it, as well. Manchdster is really big and impersonal. Xou need | :23:31. | :23:38.
a smaller city. The football teams, the Beatles, the history of the | :23:39. | :23:43.
port. It is a hard job to ask Manchester to catch up. | :23:44. | :23:48.
So, what's the verdict from these visitors to Manchester? Starting | :23:49. | :23:52.
with the Germans. It is one of the best cities in England. Comhng from | :23:53. | :23:57.
the US, the history is very historic. There are many lovely | :23:58. | :24:00.
buildings such as this one. The Israelis were less keen. The | :24:01. | :24:09.
museum was nice, the Museum of science and injury, `` industry but | :24:10. | :24:16.
I got a bit lost. At least ht is not raining! So, mixed feelings about | :24:17. | :24:24.
the city here today. What does Manchester need to do to get back | :24:25. | :24:26.
into the top ten? Neil Robinson says Manchestdr should | :24:27. | :24:29.
make more of its musical heritage, starting with what was once the Free | :24:30. | :24:33.
Trade Hall. Bob Dylan and the Sex Pistols performed here. I do feel | :24:34. | :24:38.
that Manchester's musical hhstorical legacy of the last 50 years is far | :24:39. | :24:42.
richer than that of Liverpool. Yes, they had the Beatles. I could be | :24:43. | :24:50.
wrong, but I do think Manchdster should promote itself in th`t sense. | :24:51. | :24:53.
Manchester may have dropped out of the top ten for now. You can't help | :24:54. | :24:58.
feeling it will be back. It is not an exact science, and | :24:59. | :25:02.
Tripadvisor isn't everybody's cup of tea. If you look at their top places | :25:03. | :25:11.
to visit in Blackpool, it tdlls you that the tower is only at ntmber 21 | :25:12. | :25:15.
and the central pier only comes in at number 41, so maybe you have to | :25:16. | :25:20.
exercise a bit of caution. Hf you are watching this abroad, as I know | :25:21. | :25:23.
some of you do, and you are wondering whether you should visit | :25:24. | :25:27.
this part of the world, it hs hot and sunny all of the year round and | :25:28. | :25:32.
very rarely rains! If we have time at the end the | :25:33. | :25:35.
programme, we will very quickly run down the top ten for you. It is not | :25:36. | :25:38.
quite hot and sunny. 16 today, so not bad. The Isle of | :25:39. | :25:51.
Man only got 12. And this isn't the best shot in the world. But it will | :25:52. | :25:57.
lead to a quiet night, and that is not a bad thing. Tomorrow won't be | :25:58. | :26:02.
as good as today, but after that, things do get back contract. Let's | :26:03. | :26:08.
look at what we have got as we go through the next couple of hours. A | :26:09. | :26:12.
good portion of tonight, thd cloud cover is there. I don't think it | :26:13. | :26:19.
will cause us any problems. Temperatures will hover at `bout | :26:20. | :26:22.
four or five Relay, and in towns and cities, better than that. For | :26:23. | :26:29.
tomorrow, it is all about that weather front. It has startdd today | :26:30. | :26:36.
in Scotland and Northern Irdland and starts to spread into parts of the | :26:37. | :26:39.
Isle of Man and Cumbria before lunchtime tomorrow. Anywherd south | :26:40. | :26:46.
of that will hang onto the dry weather. It would be as good as | :26:47. | :26:49.
today, but you may well see brighter skies. It is all about waithng for | :26:50. | :26:55.
this slow`moving weather front to get everywhere. It may not get to | :26:56. | :26:58.
the more southern parts unthl around this time tomorrow. If you `re in | :26:59. | :27:05.
Lancashire, you will see thd worst of it, because it will be whth you | :27:06. | :27:08.
virtually from lunchtime all the way through the afternoon. The rain is | :27:09. | :27:14.
light and patchy, and the breezes light. It could be a lot worse. | :27:15. | :27:20.
Top ten: Birmingham, Leeds, London no, York, Liverpool, London at | :27:21. | :27:34.
number one, Edinburgh, numbdr two. Guess what is third? Torquax! Home | :27:35. | :27:41.
of Fawlty Towers. Looking for Basil! See you tomorrow. | :27:42. | :27:53.
'But mostly, you've got to be In It To Win It.' | :27:54. | :28:05.
The new series of the National Lottery: In It To Win It, | :28:06. | :28:07.
Take for ever to finish Or just a Mo. | :28:08. | :28:28.
If you've only just started And run round the block | :28:29. | :28:30.
Or race on three wheels Against the clock | :28:31. | :28:34. |
