Good evening. There's jubilation for fans of Manchester City tonight

after the team secured their second Premier League title in the last

three seasons. Second placed Liverpool needed City to lose to

take the title. We'll be crossing live to Anfield in a moment but

first let's hear from our sport reporter Richard Askam at the

Etihad. Richard, lots of smiling faces? Yes,

you are right. Most fans, will carry on their celebrations in the pubs

around Manchester. There were wild celebrations earlier, particularly

when Vincent Kompany lifted the trophy. We can see him doing it now.

It is their second title in three seasons. For many bands, all the

sweeter because they bought that title had slipped away. `` fans.

second. That was a moment that many fans are realised they had won the

City deserved it so much. Today, unbelievable. It's ours. We lent it

Brilliant. Many congratulations to them. Let's

not forget how close Liverpool came. No celebrations here. Liverpool

finishing second in the table. They were top of the table just two weeks

ago prior to that defeat against Chelsea at Anfield. The fans arrived

this morning and many were in good spirits. Some even bought West Ham

might get a result `` thought. It didn't end up that way. Daniel

Sturridge got the winner of the Liverpool in the end. He confirmed

Liverpool in second place in the Premier league table. It meant a

disappointing end of the season for the fans but also calls for optimism

for the many who made their way to the terraces at the end of the

game. They are in the Champions League next season and could have

another crack at the Premier league title.

Liverpool fans have always dusted ourselves down and we will come back

next year for more. That is why Liverpool Football Club is so

special. We finished behind Manchester City who have spent a lot

of money. We don't have that money. Next season we are building a team

and they're going to be some team. There you go, plenty of optimism.

Next season is the target. Can they go on and win the league? We will

wait and see. A 29`year`old man has been charged

with attempted murder after a woman was stabbed in the neck in Rochdale

on Thursday evening. A man knocked the 30``year`old woman to the

ground, and demanded money before stabbing her in the neck. Matthew

Graham from Royton will appear before magistrates tomorrow.

Police have confirmed that a fire that killed a woman and young child

in Liverpool was started deliberately. Jamna Joshi and her

son Moksha Jai Joshi died at their home in Tuebrook on Thursday.

An iconic piece of World War II history was ferried across the

Mersey to Liverpool earlier today. The Millin`Montgomery Bagpipes were

played on Sword beach during the D`day landings. They're touring

Britain ahead of the 70th anniversary of the Normandy landings

next month. The pipes were welcomed to the Pier Head by veterans of the

campaign and their relatives. It's not so much a celebration, it

really is remembering the people who took part and didn't come back which

is the most important thing. To see the young people so interested in

the old fogies is amazing, really. Super League, and Jon Wilkin scored

twice as St Helens thrashed Bradford Bulls 50`0, leaving Saints second in

Blizzard. Good evening. It has been a wet day today and a windy one.

There were heavy showers and they will continue for the next couple of

days. In between there will be a little bit of sunshine and there is

some good news towards the end of the week. We'll see some

high`pressure building so settling us down nicely and temperatures warm

at times. Those showers will continue into the early hours

tonight. They might diminish a little bit across Greater Manchester

and the night`time temperatures will drop down to a minimum of eight

Celsius. Still quite blustery overnight but the wind easing

tomorrow and it will have a negative factor because showers developing

through the day will become heavy. They will be slow`moving as well so

some difficult driving conditions tomorrow. In between, some sunshine.

The daytime temperature reaching a maximum of 13 Celsius and

high`pressure comes in from Wednesday onwards, so any early

morning showers on Wednesday will die away. The sky is bright towards

the end of the week. It might just turn a little bit windy at times.

very heavy showers out there. For ors we are finishing the day on a

more positive note. Clearer skies to the south indicating sunshine but

the cloud still streaming in further north. Tomorrow's forecast brings a

similar mixture, sunshine and showers although the winds will

start to be lighter. That process begins through the night tonight. A

shattering of showers still possible. Clearer skies across

northern Scotland probably our lowest temperatures here. For many

temperatures will begin Monday morning at around 8 or 9 degrees

already with a few showers around. I think be drier spells in between, as

with the nature of showers, they are not everywhere all of the time.

Cloudy with brighter spells mixed in across parts of northern England and

southern Scotland already with the potential of one or two to be heavy.

On northern Scotland on balance through the day on Monday while

there could be a few showers, a slight improvement here. But they

will start to develop throughout the afternoon and with lighter winds we

are more likely to see lines
