Good afternoon. A public medting is being held in Broadstairs this

lunchtime to discuss controversial plans to open a cannabis cafe in

Thanet. The proposal has bedn put forward by a Green party cotncillor

as part of a campaign for a relaxation of the drugs laws. Kent's

Police and Crime Commissiondr has declined an invitation to attend the

meeting. A 30`year`old man has been arrested after a woman told police

she was the victim of a serhous sexual assault in Canterburx. The

woman, in her 20s, says the offence took place yesterday afternoon in a

park in Castle Row in the chty. The area was cordoned off but rdopened

this morning. Harriet Harman, the Deputy Leader of

the Labour Party says she doesn t think UKIP will be a threat to the

party in Kent and Sussex in next year's general election. Fotr years

ago, the party lost all its MPs in the South East. This weekend it s

holding a regional conference in Crawley to discuss its strategy for

2015. We understand the cost of lhving

crisis but I don't think UK policies offer a way forward for growth, jobs

A 16`year`old skier from East Sussex has finished in 14th place hn the

men's Giant Slalom in the Whnter Paralympics in Sochi. James Whitley,

who's from Wilmington and skis without poles because of an

impairment to both hands, w`s in the standing slalom event.

After a busy midweek progralme of penalties, late home wins and a

wonder goal, all four of thd South East's football league teams are

back in action this afternoon. Neil Bell reports.

New Charlton manager Jose Rhga will be well aware just how important

this afternoon's game at ne`r neighbours Millwall is. Victory for

the Addicks would see them love above their rivals and posshbly out

of the relegation zone. Brighton go to Bolton with skipper Gordon Greer

available again after suspension to strengthen what is already `n

impressive defence. A win for the Albion could lift them into

promotion play off places. Hn League One, Gillingham's trip to Bradford

is unlikely to match the excitement of Tuesday night's remarkable 4`2

victory over Coventry. That win lifted the Gills to a season high

13th place although manager Peter Taylor still believes they have work

to do. When you say we only have tdn

matches to go but in those ten matches we have very diffictlt away

matches. We're playing Leyton Orient, and Peterborough. So we

can't rest yet. Crawley Town look likely to welcome

back striker Matt Tubbs for their home game with Colchester and will

hope he can rediscover his scoring touch after being rested for their

midweek draw. It's a lovely weekend weathdr`wise.

We've had a fair amount of cloud around this morning but this

afternoon we should see somd brightness, if not some sunny

spells. The cloud has been thinning and breaking the whole time and will

continue to do so as we head through the afternoon. A north`westdrly

breeze but the temperature will get up to 15 Celsius on the south coast.

In the sunshine it will feel rather pleasant. Tonight, some cle`r spells

with some cloud. We are hanging onto the breeze and that will kedp the

temperature relatively mild. It also means tomorrow morning is looking

fairly pleasant as well. A beautiful start to Sunday. Blue skies and

sunshine and it looks like ht will stay that way for much of the day.

The temperature will be rishng as well. Perhaps a bit more cloud in

the afternoon. Into next wedk, more cloud around at first with the

temperature a bit cooler. We're back after the rugby just

after 7pm. Goodbye. Following on from what has been

largely dry and settled week with high pressure in charge, the weekend

weather continues on that theme too. Things are looking largely

dry, not everywhere, but there will be some warm sunshine on offer,

particularly through the afternoons. It will be feeling fairly breezy as
