A policeman has been seriously injured

:00:09.:00:11.

after a man he was attempting to stop, ran him over and drove off.

:00:12.:00:14.

It happened last night outside a pub in Larkfield, near Maidstone.

:00:15.:00:20.

The car was a gold Volkswagen Golf, and Kent Police say they're still

:00:21.:00:23.

By this morning there was little sign of what has happened here,

:00:24.:00:30.

but last night police cars gathered as a helicopter searched from above

:00:31.:00:34.

for the driver who left a fellow officer with serious injuries.

:00:35.:00:38.

The officer had asked the driver to pull over in what has

:00:39.:00:41.

It's understood the driver had gone into this pub car park, had turned

:00:42.:00:48.

around was coming straight back out again when the officer, who had just

:00:49.:00:52.

The car did not stop, leaving the injured policeman here

:00:53.:00:58.

Those who live and work nearby soon realised something serious

:00:59.:01:03.

The road was shut off and we couldn't get through at all.

:01:04.:01:10.

I came and asked one of the police officers that

:01:11.:01:15.

everything was okay, checking the shop, really, and they just

:01:16.:01:17.

The policeman, a constable based at Tunbridge, is in hospital in London.

hours for their luggage following delays at Gatwick airport overnight.

:01:23.:01:34.

Many travellers were told to leave without their luggage and get it

:01:35.:01:38.

sent on at a later date. Gatwick Airport said the delays were caused

:01:39.:01:41.

by "resourcing issues" involving baggage handlers at Swissport.

:01:42.:01:46.

A prisoner's escaped from police custody whilst he was being

:01:47.:01:48.

25`year`old Jamie Halifax had been taken to the

:01:49.:01:52.

Officers searched the area but couldn't find him.

:01:53.:01:58.

Sussex Police say the public should not approach him.

:01:59.:02:01.

A 29`year`old Sussex man who died suddenly from an undetected brain

:02:02.:02:05.

tumour is being honoured with a posthumous award for donating

:02:06.:02:08.

many of his organs, saving the lives of at least five other people.

:02:09.:02:11.

Daniel Daughtery from Shoreham died last September after he'd been to

:02:12.:02:15.

His mother Glynis says the award from the St John Ambulance

:02:16.:02:21.

She's been speaking to our reporter Lynda Hardy.

:02:22.:02:31.

If it was at Daniel's funeral. Everyone was aware of this

:02:32.:02:37.

donation. But one person did say to me, there could not have been much

:02:38.:02:42.

of Daniel left. That took me aback slightly. But thinking about that, I

:02:43.:02:50.

said to him, no, Daniel is out there in six other people I know of, to

:02:51.:02:56.

assist their life is not save it. His was a life cut short at just

:02:57.:03:00.

29. The young chef was about to propose to his girlfriend, but his

:03:01.:03:04.

sudden death helped others to live on after his heart, lungs, liver,

:03:05.:03:09.

kidney and pancreas were all transplanted to others. His mother,

:03:10.:03:13.

Glynis, has received a letter anonymously from one of the

:03:14.:03:15.

recipients who is being kept alive by one of Daniel's organs.

:03:16.:03:20.

I would say I am so pleased their life has been saved. My son was a

:03:21.:03:24.

wonderful, wonderful young man. This is what he would want.

:03:25.:03:30.

She hopes that his example encourages others to join the organ

:03:31.:03:33.

donor list, and says she is so proud of him and his posthumous award.

:03:34.:03:39.

At the Commonwealth Games today, 27`year`old Charlotte Kerwood

:03:40.:03:43.

from Fletchling took gold in the double trap shooting event.

:03:44.:03:45.

It's the 4th Commonwealth gold for the Sussex shooter,

:03:46.:03:47.

who won her first medal at the games aged just 15.

:03:48.:03:57.

Now the weather: believing, we have seen some pretty heavy showers

:03:58.:04:08.

around, and there are more on the way. The risk of some torrential

:04:09.:04:14.

downpours at times. We have a yellow warning in force for some of the

:04:15.:04:18.

showers. They will die away and the warning runs out later on this

:04:19.:04:21.

evening but starts up again early tomorrow morning. Things will dry

:04:22.:04:27.

out a little over the night. Light winds and a few clear spells here

:04:28.:04:30.

and here. Not as warm as recent nights, 14 up to 16 Celsius.

:04:31.:04:35.

Tomorrow will start with dry weather, but showers will develop.

:04:36.:04:40.

We are concerned about these showers across Sussex and Kent Cosby will be

:04:41.:04:46.

slow`moving with a lot of rain in a short space of time. It will be

:04:47.:04:50.

drier and brighter on Tuesday, and Wednesday looking mostly dry.

:04:51.:05:00.

We are back with a late update at 10:20pm. Enjoy your evening.

:05:01.:05:02.

I will be back at 10:25pm. Have a good evening.

:05:03.:05:10.

Topped temperatures down 5 degrees on yesterday and much lower humidity

:05:11.:05:15.

so the second part of the weekend has been much more comfortable. The

:05:16.:05:19.

coming few days, if we get sunshine it will be pleasantly warm. It's not

:05:20.:05:22.

a completely dried story

:05:23.:05:23.
