with each side blaming the other. That's all from the BBC News at | :00:00. | :00:09.
Welcome to South East Today, I'm Rob Smith. | :00:10. | :00:11.
Fears that arson was the cause of the Eastbourne Pier fire. | :00:12. | :00:19.
I am shocked. Why would anyone want to do that? | :00:20. | :00:23.
David Cameron visits the pier to see the damage him | :00:24. | :00:25.
self and pledges two million to help those affected by the fire. | :00:26. | :00:30.
Did a series of blunders hamper the investigation into Jayden | :00:31. | :00:43.
Parkinson's debt. Five officers face investigation. | :00:44. | :00:45.
for Hastings, a key marginal in Labour the next | :00:46. | :00:48.
election. And Siegfried Sassoon's war diaries, splashed with mud from | :00:49. | :00:51.
the trenches ` the kent poet's original works are digitised for the | :00:52. | :01:08.
There are fears that the fire, which badly damaged Eastbourne Pier, | :01:09. | :01:12.
Sussex Police say they're treating the blaze at the | :01:13. | :01:16.
Up to 80 firefighters tackled the blaze on the | :01:17. | :01:19.
Grade II`listed Victorian attraction on Wednesday, which left part | :01:20. | :01:24.
Let's cross live to Eastbourne and speak to our reporter | :01:25. | :01:29.
Just a few are is a go, sausage police told the BBC they now have | :01:30. | :01:45.
clear evidence that suggest the fire here was started deliberately. | :01:46. | :01:51.
Initial enquiries were not to be an electrical fault in the wood | :01:52. | :01:54.
panelling, but the police are now no longer pursuing that line of | :01:55. | :01:56.
enquiry. By the people of enquiry. By the people of | :01:57. | :02:00.
Eastbourne, they have been to every emotion from sadness on Wednesday to | :02:01. | :02:04.
leave on Thursday. Today, it is anger. People on the seafront today | :02:05. | :02:24.
were astonished. It is absolutely appalling. I am shocked. Why would | :02:25. | :02:32.
someone want to do that? It is awful that someone would do that | :02:33. | :02:35.
deliberately, it is the middle of the day at the height of summer and | :02:36. | :02:40.
there are is people inside. I think it is disgusting. It is terrible. I | :02:41. | :02:45.
would much prefer that it was electrical, it is not good. Flames | :02:46. | :02:50.
engulfed the grade two listed structure on Wednesday afternoon. At | :02:51. | :02:55.
its height, 80 firefighters tackled the blaze. Many were still at the | :02:56. | :03:00.
scene on Thursday morning. This afternoon, police announced it may | :03:01. | :03:04.
have been started deliberately. Since the fire, it has emerged many | :03:05. | :03:09.
of the traders were unable to get insurance. I think it is absolutely | :03:10. | :03:14.
devastating that someone would want to, and destroying such an iconic | :03:15. | :03:18.
piece of history and also destroy the likelihood of these traders. | :03:19. | :03:23.
These people have got families, they have got mortgages, they have got | :03:24. | :03:28.
expenses to pay. As the investigation continues, the police | :03:29. | :03:31.
have asked people to submit photos or videos taken at the entrance of | :03:32. | :03:35.
the peer in the hours before the fire started. The town is already | :03:36. | :03:42.
devastated by the sad news, but if it has been started deliberately, | :03:43. | :03:46.
that is pointless and stupid at the start of the summer season. It is a | :03:47. | :03:51.
very sad indictment on the type of people who go on peers `` who go on | :03:52. | :04:01.
pier. This evening, the area remains closely guarded as investigators try | :04:02. | :04:04.
to work out what happened. Just to pick up on that point I made about | :04:05. | :04:09.
photos, on Wednesday this whole area was packed with visitors and | :04:10. | :04:13.
holiday`makers and what is key to the police investigation is all the | :04:14. | :04:16.
videos and photos that were taken on Wednesday. They may play a crucial | :04:17. | :04:20.
part in evidence in this investigation. The police want to | :04:21. | :04:25.
hear from people to find out how and who is responsible. | :04:26. | :04:31.
Earlier on today the Prime Minister and Chancellor visited Eastbourne to | :04:32. | :04:34.
see first`hand the damage that the fire caused to the pier. | :04:35. | :04:37.
David Cameron and George Osborne met some of the firefighters who worked | :04:38. | :04:41.
to stop the flames from spreading along the entire | :04:42. | :04:44.
Here to witness the devastation first hand, the Prime Minister | :04:45. | :04:52.
and the Chancellor walk onto Eastbourne Pier this morning to view | :04:53. | :04:56.
the damage wreaked by Wednesday's giant blaze, a blaze now being | :04:57. | :04:59.
Obviously it is terrible to see the devastation that did take place from | :05:00. | :05:06.
the fire, the twisted and burnt metal, and the fact the pier has to | :05:07. | :05:13.
be shut for a period, but actually the Fire Service did an amazing job | :05:14. | :05:16.
with the RNLI and others to save two thirds of the pier. | :05:17. | :05:20.
Very brave firefighting, brilliantly organised, a great policing | :05:21. | :05:24.
operation, and now you can see the whole town pulling together to work | :05:25. | :05:27.
There was also a chance to meet the firefighters whose effort saved | :05:28. | :05:33.
around two thirds of the piers's structure. | :05:34. | :05:37.
It is a great honour for him to actually come | :05:38. | :05:39.
down to Eastbourne, a sleepy little town as we call it, and actually | :05:40. | :05:43.
for him to come down and appreciate the work that we have done. | :05:44. | :05:46.
The pier is of phenomenal sentimental value to | :05:47. | :05:48.
the town and to the country, so the pressure is on, when you get that. | :05:49. | :05:54.
Historically piers tend to go all the way when they go. | :05:55. | :05:58.
To stop it, to leave a large proportion in use and to make the | :05:59. | :06:02.
Today, the government also pledged ?2 million to support traders | :06:03. | :06:09.
and businesses on the pier affected by the fire. | :06:10. | :06:13.
That, in addition to eight and a half million pounds that is | :06:14. | :06:16.
going to ten other coastal towns including Brighton, | :06:17. | :06:18.
which will share a ?400,000 pot to build a new tourist hostel. | :06:19. | :06:26.
While Eastbourne reels from the suggestion that | :06:27. | :06:28.
the fire may have been started deliberately, there was a degree | :06:29. | :06:32.
of optimism from the Prime Minister that renovation work could start. | :06:33. | :06:39.
It is privately owned but what is your hope | :06:40. | :06:41.
My hope is that they will rebuild and rebuild rapidly. | :06:42. | :06:45.
The owners of the pier, I spoke to this morning, that is certainly | :06:46. | :06:58.
their intention, they operate other piers around the country, | :06:59. | :07:00.
they have of this they got to check the structure of the pier, it is a | :07:01. | :07:04.
listed and grade two listed building so it needs to be rebuilt | :07:05. | :07:09.
in a proper way, but every sign of that is the intention and | :07:10. | :07:27.
so we don't have to wait years and years for a new pier. | :07:28. | :07:34.
The Prime Minister's sentiments surely shared | :07:35. | :07:35.
Let's cross back to Eastbourne and speak to the town's | :07:36. | :07:40.
Can I ask for your reaction to the news that the fire could have | :07:41. | :07:44.
I think if it is true, and remember it is still under investigation it | :07:45. | :07:52.
is either accident or arson, if the disaster, I am disgusted, but we | :07:53. | :07:57.
won't let it change the way that we do things. Since this tragedy has | :07:58. | :08:03.
happened, in Eastbourne we love our pier, and if someone did this, then | :08:04. | :08:08.
shame on them, I am not interested in them, what I am interested in is | :08:09. | :08:13.
our pier and the fact that in Eastbourne we care about our town | :08:14. | :08:18.
and our community. You must be delighted to see the Prime Minister | :08:19. | :08:20.
and the Chancellor in constituency today offering ?2 million for | :08:21. | :08:27.
regeneration? I was. I cheered a meeting with the firefighting | :08:28. | :08:34.
office, and I had the Chamber of Commerce there might be Eastbourne | :08:35. | :08:39.
hospitality Association, the council, the Prime Minister and the | :08:40. | :08:42.
Chancellor, so I was very direct and I asked about the money, I asked | :08:43. | :08:47.
when we would get it, will we be in charge of how we spend it, and to be | :08:48. | :08:50.
fair I think the Chancellor in particular was slightly | :08:51. | :08:55.
uncomfortable, but he agreed that he would get it to us as soon as | :08:56. | :08:59.
possible and that it is for the council to know what to do with it. | :09:00. | :09:04.
I am keen on using a lot of that money on marketing our message. That | :09:05. | :09:09.
is that in respect of this tragedy, we are still open for business, we | :09:10. | :09:14.
want more visitors to come, we are a lovely town, and we are ready and | :09:15. | :09:15.
waiting for you to visit. Thank you. We'll have more on this story later | :09:16. | :09:22.
on in the programme and of course you can tune into the | :09:23. | :09:25.
BBC Sussex who will be covering this all evening and we have full | :09:26. | :09:28.
coverage on our website also. Preparations for the day pride | :09:29. | :09:31.
festival in Brighton. It's emerged that police may have | :09:32. | :09:40.
made a series of blunders in the case of Jayden Parkinson, | :09:41. | :09:43.
the 17`year`old girl brought up in Folkestone who who was strangled | :09:44. | :09:47.
and found buried in a graveyard Five officers from | :09:48. | :09:50.
Thames Valley Police are now being investigated over whether they could | :09:51. | :09:54.
have done more to protect her before she died, and whether they | :09:55. | :09:58.
twice released her killer on bail because different teams | :09:59. | :10:02.
weren't communicating properly. Jayden Parkinson's disappearance | :10:03. | :10:04.
made national headlines last December as the focus turned to | :10:05. | :10:09.
the graveyard in which Ben Blakeley, her ex`boyfriend, had hastily | :10:10. | :10:13.
buried her strangled body. But today, | :10:14. | :10:17.
the focus has fallen on what the police may have known about the | :10:18. | :10:20.
risk he posed before he killed her. This is | :10:21. | :10:24.
a live missing persons enquiry. We do not know where Jayden is | :10:25. | :10:26.
at the moment. That was Thames Valley Police | :10:27. | :10:29.
speaking eight days after Jayden went missing, but it now seems the | :10:30. | :10:32.
police may have had far more clues The five officers who are under | :10:33. | :10:36.
investigation tonight are being Jayden's family had already been | :10:37. | :10:41.
in touch with them about threats What had the police done | :10:42. | :10:47.
with that information? A few hours after Jayden was | :10:48. | :10:52.
reported missing, Blakeley was questioned by the police, | :10:53. | :10:55.
but about a separate offence, Did the officers who made that | :10:56. | :10:58.
decision even realise that Jayden One week later, Blakeley was | :10:59. | :11:06.
arrested on suspicion of kidnapping, The IPCC are now investigating | :11:07. | :11:12.
whether that was because the police still hadn't | :11:13. | :11:17.
realised how serious this case was. When Blakeley was given | :11:18. | :11:23.
a life sentence earlier this week, it was all too much for some | :11:24. | :11:26.
of Jayden's family. We will never be able to find | :11:27. | :11:28.
an ounce of forgiveness This was the reaction of | :11:29. | :11:31.
Thames Valley Police. Since the beginning | :11:32. | :11:40.
of the police investigation, he has treated the whole process | :11:41. | :11:42.
with complete contempt. He has lied and attempted | :11:43. | :11:45.
to deceive the police. The force are now having to ask | :11:46. | :11:49.
whether they also unwittingly In a statement today, | :11:50. | :11:52.
they said it would be inappropriate to comment on an ongoing | :11:53. | :11:56.
investigation, an investigation they themselves requested as soon | :11:57. | :12:00.
as they realised they may have let Residents of Balcombe campaigning | :12:01. | :12:02.
against oil exploration on the edge of their village have been given | :12:03. | :12:12.
permission by the High Court to take Permission was granted by | :12:13. | :12:15.
West Sussex County Council back in the spring | :12:16. | :12:21.
for Cuadrilla to be able to carry out testing of the well that was dug | :12:22. | :12:24.
amid much protest last summer. Now the | :12:25. | :12:27.
Frack Free Balcombe Residents Association is being allowed to | :12:28. | :12:29.
challenge the council's decision. It says the planning permission | :12:30. | :12:33.
was granted unlawfully. A former Bishop of Lewes, | :12:34. | :12:36.
Reverend Peter Ball, was in court this morning for a preliminary | :12:37. | :12:39.
hearing into sex offence charges. The 82`year`old is charged with four | :12:40. | :12:42.
counts of indecent assault, two against boys under 16 | :12:43. | :12:48.
and misconduct in a public office. Father Vickery House, a retired | :12:49. | :12:51.
vicar who did not attend proceedings at Lewes Crown Court, is also | :12:52. | :12:55.
charged with a string of sexual The case was adjourned | :12:56. | :12:58.
until the 12th of September. Ed Miliband has proposed a weekly | :12:59. | :13:18.
question time for the Prime Minister. Today, he took a chance to | :13:19. | :13:23.
put his idea into practice in Hastings. The Sussex seat is seen as | :13:24. | :13:29.
key for the next elections, our political editor has more. It was a | :13:30. | :13:38.
relaxed Ed Miliband who met potential voters in Hastings this | :13:39. | :13:43.
afternoon, but despite the hot temperatures and ice creams | :13:44. | :13:45.
all`round, Mr Miller band decided not to join. Don't worry, I didn't | :13:46. | :13:56.
eat it, in case you were a Labour supporter, you might have been | :13:57. | :13:59.
worried. The last time the liberal leader was photographed eating, the | :14:00. | :14:06.
opportunity backfired on him. He told the Hastings audience that he | :14:07. | :14:09.
has what it takes to become the next Prime Minister. People can be turned | :14:10. | :14:16.
off by politics because they think we care more about style than | :14:17. | :14:20.
substance, well, I care about how we change things in this country, and | :14:21. | :14:24.
frankly whether there is a good photo is not going to change things | :14:25. | :14:27.
for the people of Britain. Ed Miliband has been dogged by negative | :14:28. | :14:32.
comments about his image, and he tried to answer his critics last | :14:33. | :14:37.
week. You know and I know that I am not from central casting. You can | :14:38. | :14:41.
find people who are more square`jawed, more chiselled, who | :14:42. | :14:48.
look less like Wallace. That didn't work out too smoothly, either. You | :14:49. | :14:58.
have clearly bitten somebody there. Commentators say that highlighting | :14:59. | :15:01.
his own faults is a high risk strategy. His ratings are similar to | :15:02. | :15:06.
William Hague, who never became Prime Minister when he was leader of | :15:07. | :15:10.
the opposition, and ultimately it boils down to what Ronald Reagan | :15:11. | :15:15.
said, a few work explaining, you're losing. But do the people of | :15:16. | :15:19.
Hastings think he looks like a Prime Minister `Mark I haven't seen the | :15:20. | :15:23.
substance yet. I would like to believe in him. It just comes across | :15:24. | :15:30.
as a bit of the same old, I am afraid. I bought a Labour because my | :15:31. | :15:37.
family have always voted Labour. A few are a worker, you vote Labour. | :15:38. | :15:43.
What does a Prime Minister look like? Are his policies right, that | :15:44. | :15:49.
is a different question. Ed Miliband's message, he is not a | :15:50. | :15:53.
politician from central casting is. He hopes this new message will help | :15:54. | :15:57.
him to target new voters in Hastings and across the country. We can now | :15:58. | :16:01.
speak to our correspondent in Hastings. Three heavyweight | :16:02. | :16:06.
politicians in the same area on the same day. Is this because of the | :16:07. | :16:13.
election? You would be forgiven for thinking it is just around the | :16:14. | :16:17.
coroner, but it is still nine months away. Politicians have all been told | :16:18. | :16:21.
to get out and connect with the public, and that is exactly what | :16:22. | :16:25.
they have been doing. Ed Miliband has been in Hastings several times | :16:26. | :16:33.
before. It is a key marginal seat. The Conservative MP here has a very | :16:34. | :16:38.
small majority. It is seats like this one that Ed Miliband must win | :16:39. | :16:46.
if he is to become Prime Minister. Sussex Police say the fire which | :16:47. | :16:51.
damaged parts of Eastbourne pier on Wednesday is now being treated as | :16:52. | :16:57.
suspicious. Today, David Cameron to `` visited the area. The original | :16:58. | :17:08.
works of Siegfried Sassoon, now too delicate to handle, digitally | :17:09. | :17:13.
preserved for the nation. Not just a sport for the old people. How boring | :17:14. | :17:23.
is enjoying a growth spurt. `` bowling. | :17:24. | :17:35.
Monday marks the 100th anniversary of World War One. | :17:36. | :17:37.
And nowhere is this being commemorated more than | :17:38. | :17:39.
in Folkestone, the setting`off point for tens of thousands | :17:40. | :17:41.
Well, our correspondent Robert Hall joins me now from the brand new | :17:42. | :17:46.
memorial arch in the town which is preparing for a Royal visitor. | :17:47. | :17:59.
The war is never forgotten here. Those who lost their lives are here | :18:00. | :18:06.
inscribed, along with those from World War II. I wonder how many | :18:07. | :18:11.
people read this inscription, which talks about the soldiers which | :18:12. | :18:15.
passed through, soldiers from the Empire and across the world. A few | :18:16. | :18:18.
had stood here during the war, you would have seen dozens of men in | :18:19. | :18:24.
columns coming from the barracks over there to the east, down the | :18:25. | :18:28.
promenade, and descending the hail to the pier, where they would board | :18:29. | :18:34.
ships for the French and Belgian battlefields. Here is the story of | :18:35. | :18:40.
one soldier, Siegfried Sassoon who is also a famous poet and his | :18:41. | :18:43.
diaries are now online for the first time. Saturday the 1st of July, | :18:44. | :18:50.
1916, last night was cloudless and still. The bombardment went on | :18:51. | :18:57.
steadily. The air vibrates with an incessant din, the whole earth | :18:58. | :19:01.
shakes and rocks and props. This is as close as it gets to Siegfried | :19:02. | :19:08.
Sassoon's life as a soldier. His war diaries describing life in the | :19:09. | :19:12.
trenches, some still bearing the dirt from the Battle of the Somme. | :19:13. | :19:19.
If we lift the pages away, traces of mud in the corner where the binding | :19:20. | :19:24.
has lifted up and you can see the groups, traces of mud inside the | :19:25. | :19:28.
binding. We assume that this is from the Somme battlefield. In another | :19:29. | :19:34.
journal, wax from a candle as the soldier scribbled away at night. You | :19:35. | :19:39.
get a sense of him working away at that page, they and then. To have | :19:40. | :19:48.
the artefact, they are in the physical form and the physical mark | :19:49. | :19:53.
of the battle itself, it is extremely exciting. The experience | :19:54. | :19:56.
is much more palpable for us, isn't it? Yes, and I think in the | :19:57. | :20:02.
digitised version that still comes over, you can still get a sense of | :20:03. | :20:05.
the experience that he's going through. Here in this picturesque | :20:06. | :20:11.
part of Kent, this is the house where Siegfried Sassoon was born and | :20:12. | :20:16.
where he grew up. He went to the Western front in 1915 as an | :20:17. | :20:20.
enthusiastic soldier, but before long, he developed an opposition to | :20:21. | :20:25.
the war, Britain down in hit his declaration. He said that the war | :20:26. | :20:34.
had become a war of aggression. A soldier, a poet, whose passion for | :20:35. | :20:43.
Patrick Dawson turned sour. `` for patriotism. They have let us have a | :20:44. | :20:50.
quick look in here, I want to just show you the memorial, and tell you | :20:51. | :20:53.
that the events will start at 10:35am on Monday. Prince Harry will | :20:54. | :20:56.
unveil the arch. That is the formal unveil the arch. That is the formal | :20:57. | :21:02.
event, and I also want to mention the event in the evening, when a | :21:03. | :21:07.
group of volunteers will be placing lanterns on as many of the graves as | :21:08. | :21:11.
they can. Soldiers across the generations remembered as well. | :21:12. | :21:13.
And our World War One commemorations continue with a special event | :21:14. | :21:16.
in Folkestone on Monday the 4th of August, the day that war was | :21:17. | :21:19.
BBC South East Today and BBC Radio Kent will be broadcasting | :21:20. | :21:24.
live and you can join us at a free all`day event on the harbour. | :21:25. | :21:41.
More than ?40,000 people are expected to descend on the | :21:42. | :21:43.
South Coast this weekend for Brighton's Pride festival. | :21:44. | :21:45.
This year's theme is "Freedom to Live", raising awareness | :21:46. | :21:48.
of the countries in the world where it's still illegal to be gay. | :21:49. | :21:51.
The main event will take place at Preston Park, | :21:52. | :21:53.
They have been busy at work today, erecting the marquees, | :21:54. | :21:56.
the dance tent for girls, tent for bears and men, | :21:57. | :22:01.
The owners of Brighton arena are also bringing | :22:02. | :22:05.
The pink pound is an important part to the city, and | :22:06. | :22:10.
Brighton and Hove Council estimate that last year pride generated more | :22:11. | :22:16.
than ?30 million for the local economy, with the parade | :22:17. | :22:20.
This year's parade has the theme "the world's a disco" | :22:21. | :22:26.
but will also highlight the plight of LGBT people around | :22:27. | :22:29.
the world living in countries where it is illegal for them to be open | :22:30. | :22:33.
The UK has led the way in fighting inequality, and also we | :22:34. | :22:40.
But around the world, there is still massive inequality | :22:41. | :22:49.
for LGBT people. Acts on the main stage this year include | :22:50. | :22:52.
X Factor winner Sam Bailey, Katy B, and synthpop recession Frankmusic. | :22:53. | :22:57.
The organisers say this year's event will be the most inclusive, with | :22:58. | :23:09.
a range of facilities for disabled people. We held consultations | :23:10. | :23:11.
and the deaf community just couldn't access any part of pride, really. | :23:12. | :23:14.
Over the last couple of years, a lot of people have stopped coming. | :23:15. | :23:17.
This year we have actually made sure that each tent has an interpreter | :23:18. | :23:21.
The organisers say pride costs them half a million pounds to stage, | :23:22. | :23:24.
but claimed that the financial issues that have plagued the event | :23:25. | :23:27.
In the athletics stadium later tonight, Dartford sprinter | :23:28. | :23:35.
Adam Gemili runs in the the first round of the men's 4 x 100m relay. | :23:36. | :23:40.
But in the last half an hour the heats of men's 1,500 metres | :23:41. | :23:44.
The Sussex pair of Charlie Grice, from Brighton, and Lee Emanuel, | :23:45. | :23:48.
from Hastings, have both qualified for Saturday's final. | :23:49. | :23:56.
England's women's hockey team are guaranteed a medal after beating | :23:57. | :24:00.
New Zealand on penalties in their semi`final this afternoon. | :24:01. | :24:06.
And it was goalkeeper Maddie Hinch ` who plays for the Kent club Holcombe | :24:07. | :24:10.
The team ` featuring seven South East players ` now face | :24:11. | :24:14.
favourites Australia in the Gold medal match on Saturday evening. | :24:15. | :24:16.
The Commonwealth Games ends on Sunday but one South East | :24:17. | :24:19.
competitor has been enjoying becoming a gold medallist. | :24:20. | :24:21.
England's women's triples lawn bowls team were skippered to victory | :24:22. | :24:25.
yesterday by Sian Honnor who is from Canterbury but now lives | :24:26. | :24:28.
I think we are all in shock, to be honest. | :24:29. | :24:32.
We started off really, really well and it was just | :24:33. | :24:35.
a case of keeping that momentum, keep building on it, you couldn't | :24:36. | :24:44.
More younger players have been joining clubs recently. This club | :24:45. | :25:03.
has recently signed up 40 new recruits. | :25:04. | :25:07.
The dress code, the age bracket, the gender: | :25:08. | :25:09.
All conspired to create a stigma surrounding lawn bowls. | :25:10. | :25:13.
Here in Eastbourne, eight and 85`year`olds are playing | :25:14. | :25:18.
side`by`side, so why did the club's youngest recruit sign up? | :25:19. | :25:20.
Because it sounded fun and it looks quite easy, so I | :25:21. | :25:30.
Founded in 1897, Eastbourne Bowling Club is the | :25:31. | :25:38.
The Green lent itself to the war effort. | :25:39. | :25:42.
Nuns tended a cabbage patch and beehives there and the image | :25:43. | :25:46.
of bowling has certainly transformed over the years. | :25:47. | :25:50.
Today, it's a club with a diverse membership and it has seen | :25:51. | :25:53.
We've got men and we've got women, we've got people with disabilities, | :25:54. | :26:00.
and television helps to raise the profile, and I think | :26:01. | :26:04.
in the past, with the hats and the gloves and the old people, | :26:05. | :26:08.
Celebrating the first women's tournament in | :26:09. | :26:14.
Eastbourne in the 1930s, the town it seems has paved the way for change. | :26:15. | :26:20.
The club here operates very much an open door policy | :26:21. | :26:23.
so that anyone walking past can come in and have a go. | :26:24. | :26:27.
They have these smaller balls for junior players | :26:28. | :26:31.
and these lighter ones so that even toddlers can have a go. | :26:32. | :26:35.
More than anything, players say it is a friendly | :26:36. | :26:38.
and sociable sport that doesn't take itself too seriously. | :26:39. | :26:49.
A look now at the weather with Sarah Farmer. | :26:50. | :26:57.
We have done pretty well today, whereas everyone else has had | :26:58. | :27:03.
showers. We have had a fine weather, largely dry. Just a bit of the | :27:04. | :27:09.
southerly breeze, but some rain for tomorrow. It is also going to be | :27:10. | :27:14.
quite breezy, but we have still got some sunny spells to look forward | :27:15. | :27:18.
to. For tonight, we have got some rain pushing up from the south, | :27:19. | :27:20.
which will be fairly heavy and thundery. Quite a warm night with | :27:21. | :27:27.
temperatures between 16 and 17 degrees Celsius. Tomorrow, the best | :27:28. | :27:35.
way to describe it, and organised band of Shari rain. Sunny spells in | :27:36. | :27:39.
between that, but something we will all suffer from is this breeze, | :27:40. | :27:45.
which will be quite strong in the afternoon. Temperatures of 22 | :27:46. | :27:52.
Celsius. By Saturday evening, it will all clear, probably quite a | :27:53. | :27:56.
pleasant end to the day, and Sunday is looking largely dry as well. A | :27:57. | :28:01.
slightly cooler night, but Sunday, a very decent end to the day. Lots of | :28:02. | :28:08.
sunshine around, and it should be largely dry as well. One of those | :28:09. | :28:13.
days that really makes up for a bit of a wet Saturday. Temperatures | :28:14. | :28:19.
rising towards next week. That is all from us for now. Goodbye. | :28:20. | :28:28.
I leave the ashram, travel halfway across the world to find my father, | :28:29. | :28:32.
Oh, well. As Vashrati says, gotta keep smiling! | :28:33. | :28:40.
We don't tend to use the bathroom together here. | :28:41. | :28:43.
All right, well, I'll catch you later. | :28:44. | :28:46. |
