Not doing enough ` the health warning from the centre

:00:48.:00:50.

It's something that we can really altered during our early ye`rs to

:00:51.:00:59.

make the future better for dach and every one of us.

:01:00.:01:01.

A world record fee ` Saints' Luke Shaw becomes the most expensive

:01:02.:01:04.

teenage footballer ever as he leaves St Mary's for Manchester Unhted

:01:05.:01:06.

And three deserts, 32 days and 4,500 miles ` a former larine

:01:07.:01:11.

makes it to the home straight on an epic motorcycle trip.

:01:12.:01:20.

It was hard. There was meant to be hard. That was the challengd. I

:01:21.:01:26.

would have been disappointed if it had not been.

:01:27.:01:32.

A jury has retired to consider its verdict in the case

:01:33.:01:35.

of a man accused of causing an ambulance to crash, in which

:01:36.:01:42.

Richard Husband has denied two counts of causing death

:01:43.:01:45.

by careless driving following the incident near Brockenhurst

:01:46.:01:47.

Our reporter Steve Humphrey listened to the closing speeches

:01:48.:01:52.

It was in April last year that an ambulance crashed on the mahn road

:01:53.:02:05.

from Brockenhurst to Lindenhurst in the new Forest. Ambulance tdchnician

:02:06.:02:09.

Gillian Randall, who was drhving, was killed, along with 88`ydar`old

:02:10.:02:13.

patient Francis Ironside who was being rushed to hospital. Rhchard

:02:14.:02:17.

Husband, seen here in the grey suit at the back, denies two charges of

:02:18.:02:22.

causing death by careless driving. The court heard that a Skod` car in

:02:23.:02:26.

front of Mr husband's vehicle had indicated left and slowed down after

:02:27.:02:30.

seeing an ambulance coming tp from behind with its blue lights

:02:31.:02:36.

flashing. Mr Husband had ovdrtaken the Skoda, and it was at th`t moment

:02:37.:02:40.

that his vehicle came into contact with the ambulance, which wdnt off

:02:41.:02:45.

the road, and hit a tree. The court was told that Mr Husband had not

:02:46.:02:50.

seen the ambulance, that had checked his right hand mirror and indicated

:02:51.:02:54.

before pulling out. The ambtlance had been travelling at 70 mph. The

:02:55.:02:59.

26`year`old school support worker was transporting three teen`gers. He

:03:00.:03:03.

denied his concentration had been affected by music being plaxed in

:03:04.:03:08.

the car. In her closing spedch, the prosecutor said that Richard Husband

:03:09.:03:14.

was the only person who had given evidence to the jury who haven't

:03:15.:03:19.

seen the ambulance and a fine, dry morning in April last year. Mr

:03:20.:03:25.

husband's solicitor told because that the jury would have to consider

:03:26.:03:29.

if the way the ambulance had been driven and the way it overtook had

:03:30.:03:33.

led to the crash. This afternoon, the jury was sent out to consider

:03:34.:03:37.

its verdict. It will continte its deliberations on Monday.

:03:38.:03:42.

A Berkshire man has died after taking the drug ketamhne

:03:43.:03:44.

Police confirmed the death of the 26`year`old from Reading earlier.

:03:45.:03:48.

The man, who has not been n`med is thought to have suffered

:03:49.:03:51.

an adverse reaction to the illegal substance on Thtrsday.

:03:52.:03:55.

Police said it is not thought the batch of

:03:56.:03:57.

Next week the Queen will officially name the Royal Navy's new ahrcraft

:03:58.:04:06.

carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth, which will be based in Portsmouth.

:04:07.:04:09.

The ceremony will take placd at the Rosyth dockyard in Fhfe.

:04:10.:04:12.

South Today will of course be covering that for you.

:04:13.:04:15.

Work is also underway on a second carrier.

:04:16.:04:17.

However, rising costs have led to suggestions the second ship may

:04:18.:04:19.

But on a visit to a heritagd boat project in Portsmouth today,

:04:20.:04:24.

the Defence Secretary said he would move heaven and earth to kedp both

:04:25.:04:27.

carriers, though it would ilpact elsewhere on the navy's budget.

:04:28.:04:29.

The Defence Secretary being shown a new project at the

:04:30.:04:33.

This is prior to restoration, and this landed secret agents

:04:34.:04:38.

Opening next year will be a small boats museum and a heritage

:04:39.:04:43.

skills training centre, teaching 100 students a year traditional

:04:44.:04:47.

This in a city still reeling from the announcement that 400 years

:04:48.:04:53.

of shipbuilding here is comhng to an end.

:04:54.:04:56.

Is there perhaps an ironic contrast that we're losing shipbuildhng jobs

:04:57.:05:00.

but we're encouraging peopld to preserve old boats?

:05:01.:05:03.

No, I think these things go togdther.

:05:04.:05:06.

There's a continuum here and the important thing is you've got

:05:07.:05:09.

a critical mass of marine industry skills and assets here in Portsmouth

:05:10.:05:14.

Mr Hammond was also shown a disused police cellblock which is bding

:05:15.:05:21.

converted to 16 business unhts for start`up creative industry firms.

:05:22.:05:25.

He was genuinely interested in what we are doing.

:05:26.:05:29.

He has a passion for heritage and also a passion for the sort

:05:30.:05:34.

of apprenticeship training we're trying to create, so, yes,

:05:35.:05:37.

After looking at some of Brhtain's seafaring heritage, Mr Hammond

:05:38.:05:42.

addressed questions about whether the country can afford to kdep both

:05:43.:05:45.

Having spent ?3 billion plus of the taxpayer's money on building

:05:46.:05:52.

each of these ships, we shotld bend heaven and earth to try to lake sure

:05:53.:05:55.

that we can afford to crew them and operate them, so that by having two

:05:56.:06:01.

aircraft carriers in servicd, we're always able to have one

:06:02.:06:05.

available and I think that's a sensible way to go forward.

:06:06.:06:09.

But we will have to look at how we manage the navy's budget

:06:10.:06:12.

A leading child health profdssor from Southampton has warned that

:06:13.:06:21.

the current approach to tackling child obesity is not working.

:06:22.:06:24.

One in 10 children is now s`id to be obese by the time thex are

:06:25.:06:27.

five years old, and that figure rises to 1 in 3 by the time they

:06:28.:06:31.

If things don't impove, it's estimated that half thd UK s

:06:32.:06:34.

It's facts like these that a new educational centre ` called

:06:35.:06:41.

LifeLab ` is aiming to change. Lewis Coombes reports.

:06:42.:06:46.

The state of the nation's w`istline is under the microscope and child

:06:47.:06:49.

Ask most children what their favourite food is and they're likely

:06:50.:06:55.

Pizza. Chocolate.

:06:56.:06:59.

Fruit? Fruit.

:07:00.:07:03.

Now that's the answer the NHS is looking for.

:07:04.:07:05.

Improve the next generation's eating habits and you reduce the rhsk

:07:06.:07:08.

of developing chronic health problems at a later date.

:07:09.:07:11.

It's not just a curse of the genes that we were born with.

:07:12.:07:19.

It's something that we can really alter during

:07:20.:07:22.

our early years to make the future better for each and every one of us.

:07:23.:07:26.

LifeLab is a partnership between university professors

:07:27.:07:28.

and hospital medics ` one of only two of its kind in the world.

:07:29.:07:32.

In a classroom at the heart of Southampton General Hosphtal

:07:33.:07:35.

emphasis is on practice rather than being preached to.

:07:36.:07:39.

We're looking at the carotid artery to sed how

:07:40.:07:42.

your diet affects your choldsterol levels, so we're looking inside

:07:43.:07:46.

That it's very important to have a very healthy diet, and hopefully,

:07:47.:07:53.

I think I do. What do you think Doctor? Yeah.

:07:54.:07:57.

Her Royal Highness the Countess of Wessex officially opened

:07:58.:08:01.

Pupils demonstrating what they had learned.

:08:02.:08:04.

If the scheme proves a succdss, it's hoped it will be rolled out

:08:05.:08:08.

Tobacco was the big scourge, and it still is.

:08:09.:08:12.

We've taken now 50, 60 years to try and get on top of tobacco.

:08:13.:08:17.

In my estimation, we've got another 20 years at minimum

:08:18.:08:21.

It is absolutely sure that the fat are getting fatter.

:08:22.:08:27.

With a quarter of adults now overweight or obese,

:08:28.:08:30.

experts say this situation needs to improve now, before it's too late.

:08:31.:08:34.

The consequences are just dhre, not only for the economy, bdcause

:08:35.:08:39.

the treatment of people, lifelong, with diabetes and heart disdase is

:08:40.:08:43.

I mean, I don't think we can even put a number on it.

:08:44.:08:49.

It's inestimable. It's just an impossible sittation.

:08:50.:08:51.

The Department of Health say they are

:08:52.:08:55.

"serious about tackling obesity and are taking action to make it easier

:08:56.:08:59.

"for people to make healthier choices."

:09:00.:09:05.

It's rare for a World War Two veteran to have a funeral whth full

:09:06.:09:09.

But then, Wally Harris was a rare kind of man.

:09:10.:09:12.

His job with the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers should

:09:13.:09:14.

never have placed him on the front line.

:09:15.:09:20.

But when he came across a Gdrman unit preparing to wreak havoc

:09:21.:09:23.

on the Allied advance shortly after D`Day, he went on to save countless

:09:24.:09:26.

lives armed only with a machine gun grabbed from a wrecked tank.

:09:27.:09:29.

Wally Harris had been plannhng the final trip to the beach had when he

:09:30.:09:42.

died. Instead, today he was making his final journey in the colpany of

:09:43.:09:46.

fellow veterans. He was verx exceptional. I was a gunner, he was

:09:47.:09:53.

a draughtsman, and his main job in the early days was to repair the

:09:54.:09:59.

motorbikes that I had crashdd. His job as a mechanic was not short on

:10:00.:10:03.

danger, but Wally's role was never meant to be a front line ond.

:10:04.:10:08.

Shortly after he landed in Normandy beach, he grabbed a machine gun from

:10:09.:10:12.

a disabled Sherman tank. It was a good job he did, when a few months

:10:13.:10:15.

later, he ran into a German anti`tank and crew getting ready to

:10:16.:10:20.

fire on a convoy of British vehicles which had become gridlocked in the

:10:21.:10:23.

village approaching Brussels. His actions putting the gun out of

:10:24.:10:26.

commission save countless lhves We were searching through our house to

:10:27.:10:31.

move, and I found a regimental history. It said Sergeant H`rris

:10:32.:10:36.

under fire, did this couragdous act and got awarded a military ledal. I

:10:37.:10:40.

said to my mother, who is this Harris? Is the relation? Shd said,

:10:41.:10:45.

that is your father. Later, a training platoon at Pirbright was

:10:46.:10:50.

named in his honour, and today, his passing was honoured by the military

:10:51.:10:54.

as befits a true hero. We looked at it as, this is not a sad occasion,

:10:55.:11:00.

it is a Thanksgiving, almost, a Thanksgiving, the right thing to do

:11:01.:11:01.

to send Wally off on the right path. Still to come in

:11:02.:11:08.

this evening's South Today: Do you know, there is more people

:11:09.:11:21.

every single weekend in Britain that goes in historic property than

:11:22.:11:24.

football matches? So technically, history is bigger than football

:11:25.:11:26.

Think of the South Downs and you may think of the rolling chalk hills

:11:27.:11:29.

which encapsulate the countryside in our part of the world.

:11:30.:11:31.

But you might not realise that it's also home to some precious heathland

:11:32.:11:35.

Now thanks to a grant from the Heritage Lottery Ftnd,

:11:36.:11:39.

that rich habitat could soon be protected as Sarah Farmer rdports.

:11:40.:11:47.

It may seem contradictory, preserving our local wildlife by

:11:48.:11:55.

removing the land, at the South Downs National Park authority is

:11:56.:11:59.

doing just that. They have launched a new scheme to encourage the

:12:00.:12:02.

heathland within the park to thrive. Heather plants are not very tolerant

:12:03.:12:06.

of shade, so if we are not looking after this area, for exampld, the

:12:07.:12:11.

bracken is starting to encroach the birch and pine scrub will invade,

:12:12.:12:14.

and within ten or 20 years, this could become poor quality sdcondary

:12:15.:12:20.

woodland. At the moment, he`thland makes up 1% of the South Downs

:12:21.:12:24.

National Park, but the areas are dotted about like islands, laking

:12:25.:12:28.

plants and animals and honotrable to extinction. Without active

:12:29.:12:31.

management, controlling the bracken by cutting or spraying with

:12:32.:12:35.

herbicide or cutting back the birch scrub, and also by grazing, which

:12:36.:12:38.

helps maintain a more open landscape, without this acthve

:12:39.:12:42.

management, the heather plants can become shaded out and eventtally

:12:43.:12:48.

they will die off. The schele will restore existing and recreate lost

:12:49.:12:52.

heathland the size of 1200 football pitches. They will breathe new life

:12:53.:12:56.

into the habitat, and support Endangered Species Act. The key

:12:57.:13:04.

species for us are the sand lizard, which is confined to heathl`nds and

:13:05.:13:07.

Sandy and habitats in this country, and also the natterjack toad, which

:13:08.:13:12.

have a local population to the area of this project which has bden set

:13:13.:13:19.

up, and also this creature, which is restricted to a few heathland site

:13:20.:13:23.

in the South of England. Thd project has received a ?48,000 ran for the

:13:24.:13:26.

initial planning stages. Thd scheme hopes to receive one and half

:13:27.:13:30.

million pounds from the orators in the orators and to carry out the

:13:31.:13:36.

project over the next few ydars Dash`macro Heritage lottery project.

:13:37.:13:39.

Motorists have been facing long delays on the A27 through

:13:40.:13:41.

The Goodwood Festival of Spded is attracting big crowds to sed the

:13:42.:13:45.

The queues come as campaigndrs call for improvements to thd road.

:13:46.:13:49.

The A27 Action Group wants the whole section to be improved,

:13:50.:13:51.

with construction of a bypass for Arundel.

:13:52.:13:57.

Of all the thousands of people travelling to Goodwood

:13:58.:13:59.

today, none would have had puite the journey that Chris Short had.

:14:00.:14:02.

The wounded ex`serviceman h`s completed an epic trip,

:14:03.:14:09.

that's seen him ride all thd way from Afghanistan on a motorbike

:14:10.:14:12.

It took a month to reach hole in West Sussex and involved

:14:13.:14:16.

crossing three deserts. Chris started in Kabul.

:14:17.:14:20.

From Afghanistan, through K`zakhstan to Georgia, and eventually through

:14:21.:14:25.

He finally reached Goodwood this morning.

:14:26.:14:31.

Our transport correspondent Paul Clifton reports.

:14:32.:14:37.

Leaving carpal. For a bike rider, this is some of the most in

:14:38.:14:46.

hospitable to reign on earth. The only thing you are thinking about is

:14:47.:14:51.

the next ten metres of road. Chris Short used to be a Royal Marine You

:14:52.:14:55.

are thinking about is the ndxt ten metres of road. Chris Short used to

:14:56.:14:58.

be a Royal Marine. Fantastic and wonderful and terrifying. The

:14:59.:15:05.

geography of the place is completely wonderful and beautiful. Many people

:15:06.:15:08.

you meet are just the same. Chris is not alone. With him is support

:15:09.:15:14.

driver Dominic from New Orldans He also has a cameraman, Lawrence

:15:15.:15:19.

Cameron. The driving standards are nonexistent and the roads are

:15:20.:15:24.

appalling. They compete and they are in combat with one another when they

:15:25.:15:28.

are driving. Extreme desert, searing heat, dust that just manages to find

:15:29.:15:36.

its way into every single orifice imaginable. Crossing three deserts

:15:37.:15:42.

in 17 countries, the journex has taken 32 days and four and ` half

:15:43.:15:50.

thousand miles. I would say a good 80% of our journey from Afghanistan

:15:51.:15:54.

has been hard off`road. Everything has been hard to this point, and it

:15:55.:16:00.

is meant to be hard. That the whole point of it. If I am feeling it

:16:01.:16:08.

then the guys will just kind of leave me to it, and they will come

:16:09.:16:12.

and offer help if they think it is appropriate, and if not, thdy will

:16:13.:16:18.

let me crack on. The aim is to raise money for Mission Motorsport, a

:16:19.:16:22.

charity that helps injured service men recover and learn new skills.

:16:23.:16:27.

Beyond this stupid jolly boysmulti`macro outing, there are

:16:28.:16:30.

people's lie to potentially could be very different if we complete this

:16:31.:16:34.

and managed to raise as much money as we are hoping to. Last nhght

:16:35.:16:41.

Chris finally reached London to meet supporters. Very, very tired. Very

:16:42.:16:47.

tired, yes. One month after he started, the finish at Goodwood was

:16:48.:16:53.

close. I am going to take about two or three days off, and then I'm

:16:54.:16:57.

going to fly back to Afghanhstan and go back to work.

:16:58.:17:08.

An incredible adventure. Let's stay with motor vehicles.

:17:09.:17:09.

The fiftieth anniversary of a supercar built

:17:10.:17:10.

The Gordon Keeble was developed at Southampton Airport, in ` hangar

:17:11.:17:15.

99 cars were built, and most are still on the road as

:17:16.:17:19.

In 1964, Autocar magazine s`id this was the most electrifying c`r ever

:17:20.:17:23.

seen, an elegant rival to Aston Martin and Maserati.

:17:24.:17:26.

Remarkably, half a century later, most of them are still on the road,

:17:27.:17:33.

and this morning, 49 Gordon Keebles gathered

:17:34.:17:36.

Today, it's the car park at Southampton Airport.

:17:37.:17:39.

It combines three fantastic elements, an English chassis

:17:40.:17:45.

designer who knew what he w`s doing, an Italian stylist who knew what he

:17:46.:17:49.

It's certainly the world's largest ever gathering of Gordon Kedbles,

:17:50.:17:58.

and I believe it will be thd world's largest ever in the future too.

:17:59.:18:02.

I don't think we'll ever get this many together again,

:18:03.:18:04.

Eastleigh was an unlikely birthplace for a '60s supercar.

:18:05.:18:08.

Two brothers who helped build every one of them came back today.

:18:09.:18:12.

I'm amazed they've lasted as long as they have. We're just proud.

:18:13.:18:18.

Really proud that we are looking at this now as they are.

:18:19.:18:21.

They're still like brand`new, to look at them.

:18:22.:18:23.

Each masterpiece made in Eastleigh is now worth 20 times that.

:18:24.:18:39.

Their faces adorn the side of the the Gordon Keeble.

:18:40.:19:19.

Their faces adorn the side of the Saint Mary Stadium, but these are

:19:20.:19:23.

two saints who are heading north. First out, Luke Shaw,

:19:24.:20:30.

Liverpool. The reported ?25 million fee a hammer blow for Saints

:20:31.:20:34.

but a gift for Bournemouth, he received compensation, having signed

:20:35.:20:36.

him as a youth. They start preseason with a somewhat depleted sqtad next

:20:37.:20:41.

week, largely due to the World Cup. The manager was consulted over the

:20:42.:20:44.

transfers, and Saint say thd money from Luke Shaw will be reinvested.

:20:45.:20:48.

He faces some key decisions in his earliest days in the job. A

:20:49.:20:53.

four`year contract for Luke Shaw, and he has told Manchester Tnited's

:20:54.:20:56.

official website today, I h`ve been a Southampton since I was ehght

:20:57.:21:00.

years old, and I would like to thank them and the fans for everything

:21:01.:21:02.

they have done for me, and H would like to continue to progress my

:21:03.:21:05.

career. Manchester United is the ideal place to do that.

:21:06.:21:06.

Brighton and Hove Albion have named former Liverpool midfielder

:21:07.:21:08.

Sammy Lee as their new assistant manager.

:21:09.:21:10.

Lee links up with Sami Hyppha, who was appointed last month.

:21:11.:21:13.

He's been a manager himself, having had a short spell as manager

:21:14.:21:16.

Six players from Reading hockey club were named in the men's and women's

:21:17.:21:20.

squads for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow next month.

:21:21.:21:22.

Kate Richardson Walsh leads the women who are looking to bounce

:21:23.:21:25.

back from a disastrous World Cup tournament, it's her fourth Games.

:21:26.:21:30.

Alex Danson is among the others while the men,

:21:31.:21:32.

who narrowly missed out on ` medal in the Hague include Simon Lantell.

:21:33.:21:37.

Now, there's no denying it's a big year for history, with

:21:38.:21:41.

the centenary of the First World War and the 70th anniversary of D`Day.

:21:42.:21:44.

In the south, we have no shortage of commemorative events going on.

:21:45.:21:47.

But did you know that we also have the country's biggest

:21:48.:21:50.

The Chalke Valley History Fdstival has been underway all week.

:21:51.:21:53.

Affectionately known as the historians' Glastonbtry,

:21:54.:21:55.

it brings together talks and debates, with living history

:21:56.:21:58.

We sent our reporter Chrissx Sturt to find out more.

:21:59.:22:08.

Lying west of Salisbury, thd Chalke Valley is usually one of thd

:22:09.:22:13.

quietest locations in southdrn England. But for one week, thousands

:22:14.:22:18.

of people from all over the country are at ending a unique event

:22:19.:22:20.

organised by local resident James Holland. What is the big idda here?

:22:21.:22:26.

There are a lot of festivals around the country, lots of art and music

:22:27.:22:31.

festivals, but no one festival dedicated to history, so we thought

:22:32.:22:34.

we would be the first. It mhght be a slightly harder sell than

:22:35.:22:37.

Glastonbury, but you get lots of living history, you have thd trench

:22:38.:22:43.

experience, jousting, beer will s storytelling around the fird, and

:22:44.:22:46.

lots of historic vehicles. There is food and drink a lot. This hs a

:22:47.:22:50.

proper festival, but just a festival of history. While a music fdstival

:22:51.:22:57.

has bands, this one has public figures. People were dropping bombs

:22:58.:23:00.

on our parents and friendsmulti`macro and our

:23:01.:23:03.

grandparentsmulti`macro houses. I have joined my own school to watch

:23:04.:23:10.

John Dan Snow. So when my whfe says, you have lost the car keys, I say,

:23:11.:23:14.

it could be worse. Did you think history could be funny like he makes

:23:15.:23:19.

it? Not like he makes it, btt I have a history teacher who makes lots of

:23:20.:23:24.

jokes, so it is similar. Thdy are the sort of people you seek to be

:23:25.:23:27.

like in later life. For A`ldvel students, it is really diffhcult to

:23:28.:23:31.

find something that is really meaningful for them, and I think

:23:32.:23:35.

this is. Lots of talks by dhfferent historians, and a real breath of

:23:36.:23:38.

history which will really hdlp them. People say to me, you will

:23:39.:23:42.

never get young people interested in history.

:23:43.:23:45.

I say, are you mad? There is a tent full of them. There are thotsands of

:23:46.:23:47.

people doing academic altercations in history. You see five`ye`r`olds

:23:48.:23:54.

going mental with plastic swords at castles and bank holidays. People

:23:55.:23:57.

love history. There are mord people every single weekend in Britain

:23:58.:24:01.

negative historic properties than football matches, so technically,

:24:02.:24:04.

history is bigger than football The Chalke Valley itself is rich in

:24:05.:24:07.

Anglo`Saxon history, and th`t has been reflected in a wooded corner of

:24:08.:24:12.

the festival, where I found a historian and television prdsenter

:24:13.:24:16.

Alex Langlands. As soon as xou step through that hedgerow and sde all of

:24:17.:24:19.

this, just for a moment, yot get a feel for what it was like in the

:24:20.:24:22.

Anglo`Saxon period. This festival has got a fantastic land, rdally, of

:24:23.:24:28.

all the different elements that make up popular history, so you can be

:24:29.:24:31.

seeing really quite highbrow lectures on one and, come straight

:24:32.:24:35.

out, grab a sword, and run `cross a field and really let go. Yes,

:24:36.:24:46.

Sergeant! This whole field hn southern England full of history

:24:47.:24:49.

geeks is brilliant. It is mx heaven. I have died and gone to heaven. What

:24:50.:24:55.

a great many, Dan Snow. There you go, technically, history is more

:24:56.:24:58.

popular than football. Well, a lot of football grotnds are

:24:59.:25:02.

historic sites as well! We hndulge every weekend. A double whalmy. Onto

:25:03.:25:07.

the weather for the weekend. Sarah is here. Yes, and we have showers to

:25:08.:25:14.

come. Look at this. Cloudy skies over Portsmouth, but

:25:15.:25:17.

sunshine for beach goers in Ryde. It looks like Paula Baterbed caught

:25:18.:25:20.

a shower in Wareham today ` a few And what a lovely view capttred

:25:21.:25:25.

by Kevin Cawley at Highcliffe We were expecting to see more

:25:26.:25:38.

showers than we did, but we have had one or two, and we can look at them

:25:39.:25:41.

on the radar picture. The r`in is working its way in from the

:25:42.:25:45.

south`west during the late lorning, and lunchtime, seeing one or two

:25:46.:25:49.

heavy downpours, and in two parts of oxygen in particular, those

:25:50.:25:52.

downpours through the afternoon as well. Elsewhere, quite a bit of dry

:25:53.:25:57.

weather, and is fine, bright and sunny spells as well. There are

:25:58.:26:01.

still one or two showers lingering, particularly to the south`wdst and

:26:02.:26:05.

the North. We will see thosd fading away through the course of this

:26:06.:26:08.

evening, and becoming gener`lly drive through the course of the

:26:09.:26:12.

night. Along the coast, we could import one or two from the channel,

:26:13.:26:18.

but generally a mild night. 12 to 14 degrees. Possibly some mist and fog

:26:19.:26:23.

in rural spots. That lifts `way on Saturday, some brightness around

:26:24.:26:26.

first thing. But we have a xellow weather warning in place for further

:26:27.:26:29.

downpours tomorrow, and it looks like we will see a view mord of

:26:30.:26:34.

them. We may just have some very torrential downpours with some hail

:26:35.:26:38.

and thunder possible, but not all of us will see them, and it looks like

:26:39.:26:42.

we will have some good in showing, with temperatures at 18 or 09

:26:43.:26:46.

degrees in the South. The showers tend to ease through the cotrse of

:26:47.:26:49.

tomorrow night, and it is a dry nights for most part. Freshdr than

:26:50.:26:54.

tonight, temperatures holding out in double digits, possibly single

:26:55.:26:58.

figures in rural spots. Then that front players to the south through

:26:59.:27:01.

the course of Sunday, and wd're left with a pretty decent day. Stnday

:27:02.:27:06.

looks to be the driest day of the weekend. Good sunny spells to enjoy.

:27:07.:27:10.

One or two isolated showers here and there. Temperatures in the high

:27:11.:27:13.

teens. Some events look forward to this weekend.

:27:14.:27:14.

The Charlbury Beer Festival takes place at the Cricket Club tomorrow.

:27:15.:27:17.

As well as a huge range of food and drink, there'll be live music,

:27:18.:27:20.

plus the risk of one or two heavy showers to watch out for.

:27:21.:27:23.

On the Island it's the Royal Isle of Wight County Show on Sattrday.

:27:24.:27:27.

Visitors might have to duck into the tents to dodge

:27:28.:27:29.

the odd light shower at the County Showground in Northwood And

:27:30.:27:32.

There's a Classic Cars Exhibition taking place at Christchurch Quay

:27:33.:27:34.

on Sunday ` with vehicles d`ting back to 1920 on show.

:27:35.:27:37.

There should be some sunny spells on offer.

:27:38.:27:41.

So, let's take a look at yotr summary. That warning for one or two

:27:42.:27:47.

heavy downpours. Not for all of us, but they could be torrential. Then

:27:48.:27:51.

some sunny spells and one or two later showers to come through the

:27:52.:27:54.

weekend. Are you sure? I got the tre`tment on

:27:55.:27:57.

the lawn last night, becausd you said it would rain, and nothing

:27:58.:28:02.

happened. So you are hoping for rain? I kind of am. And there is

:28:03.:28:08.

World Cup football. Tony's lawn is the most important thing in his

:28:09.:28:12.

life. That is it for us. Have a great weekend, whatever you are

:28:13.:28:15.

doing. Goodbye.

:28:16.:28:18.
