Passengers arriving at Gatwick Airport have faced long

delays reclaiming their baggage and some have been held up waiting

The airport's operator has blamed a ground handling agent for the

problems, which it says has breached the terms of its operating licence.

This man says he had to wait more than two hours for his bad last

night after his flight arrived at Gatwick. I have used all London

airports and I must say Mikd Gatwick experience last night is ond of the

worst I have had. Passenger said there were few staff to help, barely

audible tannoy announcements and a lot of unhappy families. It is a

shame. It sets a bad exampld for people coming into the UK. Ht is a

shame we can't cope with luggage. It should be simple to do. Gatwick

Airport said the problems h`ve been caused by a shortage of staff at the

company contracted by the ahrport. It is part of their operating

licence that they should deliver bags to passengers within 54 minutes

of an aircraft's arrival. They say the art ongoing discussions with the

company. Gatwick Airport apologised for the delay is, saying th`t the

time people were waiting for baggage has been reduced.

Nearly 2,000 young carers from across the UK descended

on Fairthorne Manor, near Southampton, this weekdnd.

They were there for a festival designed to give them a bre`k from

their responsibilities at home, where they look after chronhcally

young carer, you could lose out on good grades.

The festival's organised by the Children's Society, which

trains and supports those who come into contact with young cardrs.

It is about having a great weekend and gathering information to make

life easier for young carers and make people more aware.

New laws should give young carers a guarantee of more support,

but experts say attitudes still need to change.

They need to understand that their needs are different from thd normal

run`of`the`mill child, and then to act on that understanding.

That's what these children will hope for

when their caring begins ag`in after this brief and much needed break.

Time now for the weather. It has been a decent day across

southern parts of the UK with most about seeing blue skies and sunny

spells. The outlook is good with more of that on the way. Tonight,

mainly dry with temperatures between ten and 13 degrees. Tomorrow

morning, most of us will sed blue skies and decent spells of sunshine

by the afternoon. Cloud covdr will come and go and the odd shower is

possible. Temperatures up to 19 or 20 Celsius. The breeze will pick up

along the south coast. Therd is an area of low pressure bringing cloud
