He had bought weapons and h`d this adapted van. Detectives fear he | :03:52. | :03:56.
could have kidnapped, murdered Allison and possibly killed her | :03:57. | :03:59.

warned the Home Office about him, finding out he had a violent past in | :04:04. | :04:09.
his native camera ice Canad`. He had lied about his criminal record to | :04:10. | :04:13.
gain access to the UK. The tales were given to the Home Office but he | :04:14. | :04:17.
was not stopped when he camd back from holiday at the port. | :04:18. | :04:22.
Opportunities to protect thd family were missed. | :04:23. | :04:27.
They did nothing for five months during which time he conducted an | :04:28. | :04:31.
escalating campaign of harassment and violence against us. | :04:32. | :04:35.
Al`Amin Dhalla even tried to burn down the family home, but ltckily | :04:36. | :04:42.
Pamela Hewitt and David Grax were on holiday. | :04:43. | :04:45.
So concerned where the police that they helicoptered the coupld to | :04:46. | :04:49.
safety under armed guard. They expected UK immigration laws | :04:50. | :04:53.
and the Home Office and its agencies to protect them and keep thdm safe. | :04:54. | :04:57.
Instead, mistakes were made and a failure to listen to the falily put | :04:58. | :05:03.
them in danger. Al`Amin Dhalla is now in prhson | :05:04. | :05:07.
after being convicted of a range of offences including arson and | :05:08. | :05:10.
harassment. The family he categorised is to receive ?030, 00 | :05:11. | :05:14.
from the Home Office becausd of its failings. | :05:15. | :05:17.
The government has confirmed it is going ahead with plans to convert | :05:18. | :05:19.
the hard shoulder of the M3 motorway into a fourth traffic lane. | :05:20. | :05:22.
But it has overruled a schele by the Highways Agency to enforce | :05:23. | :05:25.
a 60mph speed limit, which was designed to reducd | :05:26. | :05:28.
Our Transport Correspondent Paul Clifton is on a bridge over | :05:29. | :05:32.
the motorway at Farnborough ` this is a pretty significant change? | :05:33. | :05:40.
It is, Sally. In rush hour, the M3 is beyond maximum capacity. The | :05:41. | :05:50.
Highways Agency came up with two ways to tackle it. Today, one of | :05:51. | :05:54.
those was accepted, the othdr was thrown out. We are talking `bout 13 | :05:55. | :06:00.
miles of motorway between Farnborough and the M25. Thd hard | :06:01. | :06:04.
shoulder will be converted hnto a fourth traffic line, so in future | :06:05. | :06:10.
there will be no hard shoulder. The Highways Agency wanted to enforce a | :06:11. | :06:16.
60 mph speed limit the tween 7am and 7pm using average speed camdras `` | :06:17. | :06:21.
in between. It argued this was necessary to reduce pollution levels | :06:22. | :06:24.
that big European limits. In rush`hour the average speed there is | :06:25. | :06:29.
only 45 mph anyway. The agency has now been told to find a different | :06:30. | :06:33.
way to reduce pollution. I have no idea what might make be, because the | :06:34. | :06:36.
Highways Agency and the Dep`rtment for Transport both declined our | :06:37. | :06:42.
requests for interview todax. He motorway widening is going ahead | :06:43. | :06:45.
with a 70 mph speed limit, hs that right? | :06:46. | :06:49.
That is right, and it will hncrease, we are told, capacity by ond third | :06:50. | :06:53.
and improve journey times bx three or four minutes. It will take about | :06:54. | :06:59.
two years to complete, work starts in November and it will cost around | :07:00. | :07:02.
?2 million. We were told in March there were | :07:03. | :07:07.
plans through Berkshire? That has not been confirmed today, | :07:08. | :07:12.
the plan is to spend ?900 bhllion taking the hard shoulder of 32 miles | :07:13. | :07:16.
of motorway and using average speed cameras there, much like thdy do on | :07:17. | :07:18.
the M25. A Southampton gang who made more | :07:19. | :07:23.
than ?250,000 by selling stolen goods | :07:24. | :07:25.
on Ebay have been jailed today. The group of ten family and friends | :07:26. | :07:27.
targeted Homebase and B stores across 13 counties, routinely | :07:28. | :07:30.
shoplifting high value items It's possible the highly organised | :07:31. | :07:32.
criminal enterprise had been going on for years | :07:33. | :07:38.
before the police were brought in. Here's our Home Affairs | :07:39. | :07:40.
Correspondent, Emma Vardy. Hundreds of items were sold online | :07:41. | :07:53.
to unsuspecting eBay customdrs. Goods like showers, vacuum cleaners | :07:54. | :07:58.
and alarm systems had been stolen en masse from DIY stores across the | :07:59. | :08:02.
country. The gang would fill up their trolleys with high`value | :08:03. | :08:06.
goodness. I decide in the g`rden centre area they would throw items | :08:07. | :08:10.
over the perimeter fence or push them through holes in the w`ll. | :08:11. | :08:15.
After getting out the goods, the group would often then hide them | :08:16. | :08:18.
around the perimeter and return to pick them up after dark. Ovdr and | :08:19. | :08:22.
over again, they got away whth stealing thousands of pounds of | :08:23. | :08:25.
items at a time. George Mason was the ringle`der He | :08:26. | :08:29.
shoplifted in stores from Southampton to South Yorkshhre. | :08:30. | :08:35.
His sister, Yvonne Banaghan's role was so`called postmistress general. | :08:36. | :08:38.
She packed and sent items off to eBay buyers. | :08:39. | :08:44.
His mother, Caroline Kirkland and her neighbour, stored the stolen | :08:45. | :08:47.
goods in their homes. In total, more than ?250,000 worth | :08:48. | :08:51.
of goods were sold on eBay. His friend, helped him shoplift. | :08:52. | :08:58.
Another friend helped run the online stores. | :08:59. | :09:01.
Money from the sales went into the account of Mason's mother`in`law, | :09:02. | :09:09.
Jeremy Forrest chief. `` Jeremy French. | :09:10. | :09:15.
They were climbing onto the shelving, cutting a hole and pushing | :09:16. | :09:19.
it through that way. The group were caught out when undercover police | :09:20. | :09:21.
officers purchased some of the items. | :09:22. | :09:24.
As we followed the evidence we simply find more and more pdople and | :09:25. | :09:28.
it went wider and wider. Within six to eight weeks we were starting to | :09:29. | :09:31.
realise quite how wide this was going to be and it changed how we | :09:32. | :09:38.
were able to approach it. 12 defendants in total were | :09:39. | :09:41.
sentenced today for their p`rt in this criminal operation and for much | :09:42. | :09:46.
of its most of the defendants had to sit in seats normally reserved for | :09:47. | :09:50.
the jury because there was not a doctor big enough. | :09:51. | :09:52.
George Mason received the longest sentence of five years. His | :09:53. | :09:58.
accomplices Mark Bowers and Kevin or Godfrey and a half. For each of | :09:59. | :10:01.
their roles in this criminal enterprise, tonight ten of their | :10:02. | :10:06.
family and friends are in j`il. `` Kevin Owen. | :10:07. | :10:09.
In May, 33`year`old James Gravett from Liphook was jailed | :10:10. | :10:12.
for two`and`a`half years for selling stolen goods on eBay. | :10:13. | :10:14.
Over five years he made mord than ?100,000 selling branded eldctrical, | :10:15. | :10:17.
garden and electronic products at substantial discounts. | :10:18. | :10:22.
I'm joined by Graham Belton from Hampshire Trading Standards. | :10:23. | :10:28.
Thank you for coming in. I luch of a problem is this? | :10:29. | :10:39.
The inter`net these days is a good source for criminals to disposable | :10:40. | :10:44.
sort of illegal goodness. It is an increasing problem as more people | :10:45. | :10:47.
have access to the internet. What should you do to avoid buying | :10:48. | :10:51.
stolen goods online and how would you know? | :10:52. | :10:54.
It is difficult, but there `re basic steps you can take. Doing some | :10:55. | :10:59.
research before you buy anything is a good first step. Check out the | :11:00. | :11:03.
price of the item on other websites to see how much the discount is that | :11:04. | :11:11.
the goods are being sold at. If it is substantially discounted, then be | :11:12. | :11:14.
suspicious. Look at the feedback on the website, check out the hnternet | :11:15. | :11:20.
auction website, it is bound to have feedback on the seller, check out | :11:21. | :11:23.
fat to see what other peopld are saying. It depends on how often the | :11:24. | :11:27.
feedback is being given and how much you can see. If it is not a lot | :11:28. | :11:32.
then you need to think, well, is this a good site? | :11:33. | :11:40.
We have legislation for scr`p metal dealers and pawn shops wherd they | :11:41. | :11:44.
have to look at ID and recehpts when they buy something. It is ilpossible | :11:45. | :11:48.
to do that on the internet. I think it probably is impossible to | :11:49. | :11:53.
do that on the internet, but the internet auction sites are taking a | :11:54. | :11:57.
responsible attitude towards the sale of illegal goodness. Btt there | :11:58. | :12:01.
are millions of goods sold dvery day on websites, so that makes ht much | :12:02. | :12:04.
more difficult. I give for joining us this dvening. | :12:05. | :12:10.
`` thank you for joining us. Still to come... Have the good times | :12:11. | :12:14.
gone for Salisbury as the club faces a bleak future? | :12:15. | :12:21.
There are "huge gaps" in NHS mental health services for women stffering | :12:22. | :12:24.
pre and post`natal depression, according to a new report. | :12:25. | :12:26.
Figures released by the Matdrnal Mental Health Alliance single out | :12:27. | :12:28.
several areas in the region where there's currently no provishon for | :12:29. | :12:31.
They include Portsmouth, the Isle of Wight, Swindon | :12:32. | :12:35.
While standards in East Dorset, Southampton and parts of Halpshire | :12:36. | :12:40.
NHS England says it accepts provision is patchy | :12:41. | :12:46.
Dani Sinha has been to meet two parents from Berkshire who found | :12:47. | :12:51.
Three years ago, Sarah felt all along after the birth of her second | :12:52. | :13:09.
child. Her GP put her on antidepressants but it was her mum | :13:10. | :13:13.
who spotted she had postnat`l depression. I felt really isolated | :13:14. | :13:16.
and really lonely, because depression does that to you anyway, | :13:17. | :13:21.
it makes you feel alone. Without my mum, I don't think I | :13:22. | :13:24.
would have got through it, to be honest, because I did not gdt any | :13:25. | :13:28.
support, I was not offered `nything from my doctor or anything. | :13:29. | :13:32.
We also spoke to a father from Berkshire who felt his wife was let | :13:33. | :13:35.
down by the poor provision of services. After the birth of his | :13:36. | :13:39.
child, his wife struggled whth the demands of becoming a mother, so | :13:40. | :13:43.
much so seek right to kill herself. We have disguised his voice. `` she | :13:44. | :13:48.
tried to kill herself. When we return home it was apparent she was | :13:49. | :13:52.
seriously ill. The community midwives did not act | :13:53. | :13:55.
on my fears. They were struggling to help her, really, and what was clear | :13:56. | :13:59.
was that she developed postnatal depression and was put on | :14:00. | :14:03.
medication, and eventually the stress got too much. She trhed to | :14:04. | :14:06.
commit suicide. I think historically, yes, there | :14:07. | :14:10.
have been times when women have been let down by services. One of the | :14:11. | :14:14.
first things we did was look at training with maternity, and I am | :14:15. | :14:17.
pleased to say that 100% of midwives at Wrexham park and Royal Bdrkshire | :14:18. | :14:22.
received training every year from us. | :14:23. | :14:26.
The maternal mental health @lliance claims the quality of care should be | :14:27. | :14:31.
equal, regardless of where xou live. There are pockets of extremdly good | :14:32. | :14:35.
practice and very good care. The NHS probably leads the world in the prop | :14:36. | :14:39.
`` quality of care in some `reas. Cross the street and a woman may not | :14:40. | :14:43.
have access to any care at `ll. With a third baby on the way, Sarah fears | :14:44. | :14:50.
what the future holds. The NHS could let her down `gain. | :14:51. | :14:54.
Almost 200 jobs could be cut at Southampton City Council as part of | :14:55. | :14:57.
50 of the roles are currently vacant, meaning | :14:58. | :15:00.
around 150 redundancies could be made, if the proposals go through. | :15:01. | :15:03.
The plans could also see cuts to services for those | :15:04. | :15:06.
The Council says it has difficult decisions to make. | :15:07. | :15:09.
But that any changes will bd focussed on the best possible | :15:10. | :15:12.
Fireman, seamstress ` it used to be common for job titles | :15:13. | :15:23.
to reflect the gender of those doing the work so how much has ch`nged | :15:24. | :15:27.
Tonight we've the first of two features examining what it's | :15:28. | :15:31.
like to work in a profession that's dominated by the opposite sdx. | :15:32. | :15:35.
Sarah Farmer has been to medt a man who teaches small children, | :15:36. | :15:38.
They have these beaming facds, ready to learn and it's fantastic. There | :15:39. | :15:54.
has never been a day when I do not want to to work. | :15:55. | :16:00.
I absolutely love it, it is really satisfying to get a job dond at the | :16:01. | :16:07.
end of the day without any leaks. Female climbers were considdred a | :16:08. | :16:11.
quirky site back in the 1930s. When in now seem to have pltmbed the | :16:12. | :16:15.
depths of most masculine tr`des and professions and there is ond who has | :16:16. | :16:20.
plumbed for being a plumber. This footage was included in a | :16:21. | :16:24.
montage of a baker with bre`d on his head and a pram pushing dog. | :16:25. | :16:28.
Although attitudes may have changed, the numbers have not. | :16:29. | :16:33.
Of the UK's 110,000 plumbers, less than 1% are female. After working | :16:34. | :16:37.
for 15 years as a veterinarx nurse, Hannah Lewis opted for a career | :16:38. | :16:44.
change. Someone suggested to me a trade, carpentry, electrics, | :16:45. | :16:46.
tiling. No, that is a man's job! | :16:47. | :16:51.
Then she met another friend and it was an alien in a flying satcer | :16:52. | :16:57.
Ollie Bradley has taught at this school for the last six years. | :16:58. | :17:01.
The 2`faced preconceptions. I think it is important to break | :17:02. | :17:05.
that stereotype so that children see from an early age that it is all | :17:06. | :17:08.
right for men to take on an nurturing role and it is not just | :17:09. | :17:13.
females that are there for them they do not just look to thdir mum | :17:14. | :17:17.
or a female teacher. They h`ve to go men can give that support, `s well. | :17:18. | :17:23.
As gender proved an issue? There has been one incidents, a man | :17:24. | :17:25.
got a little bit too close for comfort and I had to say, stand | :17:26. | :17:30.
back. Let me do the job as ` plumber, not a female. | :17:31. | :17:36.
Non`fiction books? Year to seem happy with Mr Bradley. Ice xear two. | :17:37. | :17:43.
When we need his help peopld come straight there. | :17:44. | :17:47.
A boy teacher is a bit of a change. His voice sounds very different | :17:48. | :17:53.
Ladies like to do more maths. He is really funny and makes me | :17:54. | :17:56.
laugh. Praise from Hannah's clients, too. I | :17:57. | :18:01.
think it is more comfortabld for my wife and daughter to have a woman | :18:02. | :18:03.
plumber. I would like a tradesperson to be | :18:04. | :18:11.
friendly, for me to have trtst in them and to do a good job. Lale or | :18:12. | :18:14.
female. When it comes down to it, does it | :18:15. | :18:19.
matter? That you are a woman? In a largely male environment? | :18:20. | :18:22.
I thought it would matter rhght first. I am a little bit | :18:23. | :18:28.
intimidated, but now I feel I am a specialist in my field and people | :18:29. | :18:31.
respect me. But, for Ollie, being a man in a | :18:32. | :18:36.
largely female workplace sedms to be a benefit. | :18:37. | :18:40.
Sometimes behaviour is bettdr when there is a male role model there. | :18:41. | :18:44.
That is interesting, isn't ht? Perhaps he does not have to try so | :18:45. | :18:50.
hard, the respect is there. Well done to ill ready very quietly. | :18:51. | :18:58.

the future of Last week, the Whites were dxpelled | :20:13. | :20:13.
from the Football Conferencd after failing to pay outstanding debts, | :20:14. | :20:17.
and now one co`owner has sotght It was not long ago that Salisbury | :20:18. | :20:31.
City were drawing level with former European champions. Roll on a seven | :20:32. | :20:36.
years and they are on the brink of folding. | :20:37. | :20:40.
The fans did not turn up in the numbers and that forced on the | :20:41. | :20:44.
previous owner to sell full stop the people he sold it to our now locked | :20:45. | :20:46.

Touzar owns 90% of the club with Salisbury `based Mark Winter owning | :20:55. | :20:57.
the rest. So far, only Mark Winter has stumped up any cash and the club | :20:58. | :21:03.
now faces a winding up order. Relegated firstly from the | :21:04. | :21:06.

their debts to stay in confdrence South, they did not do that. They | :21:11. | :21:15.

Mark Winter is seeking legal action to overturn Outail Touzar pttt | :21:21. | :21:23.

are left wondering if they will have a club to follow. | :21:27. | :21:30.
To me it is devastating. I have been with it for 67 years. I shall miss | :21:31. | :21:36.
it, I shall miss the people that I meet in the club, many of whom I | :21:37. | :21:39.
have known for years. I don't know what I'm going to do on Sattrday | :21:40. | :21:42.
next week. Demoted out of the conference with | :21:43. | :21:45.
no manager and having lost 05 players, the last one just today, | :21:46. | :21:49.
there is a real chance Salisbury will not be ready to start the new | :21:50. | :21:55.
season on the 9th of August. We will watch with interest on that | :21:56. | :21:57.
one. Let us move to cricket. Sussex completed victory ovdr | :21:58. | :22:00.
Northants in the county Northants were forced to follow | :22:01. | :22:02.

Steve Magoffin helped Sussex bowl out their guests for 204, to win | :22:07. | :22:09.
the game by an innings and 85 runs. Sorry Aaron a strong position | :22:10. | :22:19.
against Glamorgan, still tr`iling them by 191 runs after following on | :22:20. | :22:22.
themselves on day three. And Hampshire's pairing bailed them | :22:23. | :22:28.
out somewhat at Gloucester, but a partnership of 115 for the last week | :22:29. | :22:33.
it lost them one wicket in reply. Tomorrow night we are going to be | :22:34. | :22:37.
meeting a marathon runner from Dorset who only got into running as | :22:38. | :22:40.
a way of losing a bit of wehght getting fit. | :22:41. | :22:44.
Now he is running in Glasgow for England. | :22:45. | :22:48.
We will meet him tomorrow. OK, cyber defender ` you wotld think | :22:49. | :22:52.

Allana Turner took this photo of the hail this afternoon | :25:17. | :25:23.
in Branksome in Poole. And David Melton took this picture | :25:24. | :25:27.
of the storm clouds over thd Ageas Bowl before the rain stopped play. | :25:28. | :25:34.
We do have a number of thunderstorms still out there at the moment, | :25:35. | :25:39.
gradually clearing before 10pm tonight. They will ease, gr`dually | :25:40. | :25:44.
moving south. Once they do, with all of the moisture in the air, there is | :25:45. | :25:50.
a risk of mist and fog patches under clearing skies with light whnds A | :25:51. | :25:55.
lot of low cloud in places with lows in towns and cities 12 or 13 | :25:56. | :25:59.
Celsius, slightly lower in the countryside, perhaps single figures. | :26:00. | :26:05.
Tomorrow drier, probably thd best day of the week in terms of sunshine | :26:06. | :26:09.
and dryness. In sunny spells we can expect a high of 19 or 22 Cdlsius. | :26:10. | :26:15.
Today we only saw in some p`rts are high of 15 or 16 Celsius. More cloud | :26:16. | :26:22.
for eastern areas, that is where a weather front moves in from the | :26:23. | :26:25.
east, westwards, through thd course of tomorrow night introducing more | :26:26. | :26:28.
cloud and some rain for eastern areas. It really is an East`West | :26:29. | :26:35.
divide tomorrow. The West whll have drier spells, the East wettdr, a low | :26:36. | :26:41.
of 14 or 15 Celsius tomorrow night. The band of rain on Thursdax morning | :26:42. | :26:45.
will move west through the course of the day on Thursday. Outbre`ks of | :26:46. | :26:49.
rain could be heavy at times through the day, mainly light and p`tchy | :26:50. | :26:53.
with the weather front gradtally dying out. Clear in eastern areas on | :26:54. | :26:58.
Friday but following that whth the warming up once the weather front | :26:59. | :27:02.
pushes through we could see that triggering off some heavy | :27:03. | :27:04.
thunderstorms in places. Once again, the risk of thunderstorms through | :27:05. | :27:09.
the day on Friday triggered by the quite humid conditions. Friday we | :27:10. | :27:12.
could see temperatures up to around 26 Celsius in some parts. Tomorrow | :27:13. | :27:17.
is the best day of the week in terms of sunshine, dry throughout the day | :27:18. | :27:21.
with rain tomorrow night. Bhg big summer rain on Thursday then towards | :27:22. | :27:25.
the weekend we have thunderstorms Friday and Saturday, very htmid and | :27:26. | :27:28.
quite money. That is it from us, late news is | :27:29. | :27:33.
very late tonight, it will follow the World Cup. | :27:34. | :27:36.
Brazil versus Germany live on BBC One, I fear the Germans might be | :27:37. | :27:40.
about to spoil the Brazilian party. Wait and see. | :27:41. | :27:41.
Thank you for watching, good night. This is the first example we know of | :27:42. | :27:54.
of infrared communication. Imagine if you could | :27:55. | :28:05.
talk to the animals. Zoologist Lucy Cooke | :28:06. | :28:07.
is going to show us how. This is the first example we know of | :28:08. | :28:13.
