Good evening, I'm Roger Finn. Commonwealth Games closing ceremony,

The centenary of the outbreak of World War One has been marked

in a number of events around the South.

There have been services of remembrance

and a special gathering at Highclere Castle in Berkshire.

In Worthing, it was a moment of silence and a tribute by the sea.

Two stained`glass windows were unveiled on the pier. More than 660

people from the area were killed in World War I. 20,000 killed, 40,000

wounded in a single day. A number of working men, all boys, who were 15

years old when they lay down their lives, commemorated on those

banners. At Saint Mary's church in Ferndown,

a Piper led a procession for a service of commemoration. 50 men

from the Ferndown immunity gave their lives in the First World War

and each of their names was read out. `` the Ferndown community.

Crowds gathered in bright sunshine in Highclere Castle in an event a

member conflicts past and present. It was a fly past of planes in the

Great War, musical entertainment and a recreation of the famous football

match between English and German soldiers in World War I. I wanted a

reflection of what happened in the past for people to understand how it

can help people today. And tomorrow on South Today, we'll

bring you a special programme. Sally Taylor will be live

from the Bovington Tank Museum in Dorset, as the start

of the First World War is remembered with a series of events

on our Facebook page. Passengers onboard a Wightlink Ferry

from Lymington to Yarmouth were left stranded

for 30 minutes earlier, after the forward propulsion unit

failed. Ben Matthews sent South Today

the ferry did not hit the barge After half an hour, the ferry

was able to continue its journey. It's been taken out of service

for repairs, Sir John Madjeski has told

South Today he is confident he's found the right investors

for Reading Football club. Sir John said a Thai consortium will

take a majority share in the club. The group are led

by 76`year`old businesswoman It's hoped the deal

will be concluded in time for manager Nigel Adkins

to bring in new players. as it was

before the last administration. So they want to get back to

the basics of that. But they are ambitious and I'm sure

before the start of this season, The Commonwealth Games

has come to an end in Glasgow that's captained by

Reading's Kate Walsh suffered a dramatic loss in their

gold medal match against Australia. The Australians equalised

in the last 20 seconds despite a heroic performance from

West Sussex goalkeeper Maddie Hinch. I think this morning

it's really hit home, how close we were to coming

away with a gold medal. that we have come so far

in such a short space of time and if someone had said we

would have a silver at the end of this tournament, we would have

grabbed that with two hands. The men's hockey bronze medal match

also went to penalties The game finished 3`3

before Reading's Simon Mantell won a penalty flick,

and England took the victory. But it was heartbreak again

for the South's netball players. After their final second loss

against New Zealand in the semi final, the England team

weren't able to lift themselves England lost against Jamaica

to finish in fourth place. And Hampshire's Dani King ended

a disappointing Commonwealth Games for England team`mate Lizzie

Armitstead in the early stages. Armitstead went

on to win the gold medal, with King more than

five minutes down. Now for the weather

with Holly Green. Today has brought plenty

of bright weather and we have just

seen one or two showers. Now, there is a risk

of some showers through tonight. and that breeze

will generally ease down Lows by then between 13

and 16 degrees. One or two spots,

perhaps a little lower. Tomorrow,

quite a bright start to the day. We see plenty

of sunny spells coming through. There is the risk of a few showers,

a scattering here and there but for many of us, we will

get away with a largely dry day. A less breezy one for today

as well and temperatures there pushing

into the early 20s. But we do see a bit of a change

into the middle part of the week. There will be some brighter

conditions at times but also an increasing risk

of heavy, thundery showers. Our next news will follow the

sunny weekend but for others it has not stopped raining for the last

couple of days, you can see where on the satellite picture, big swell of

cloud, dominating things. Torrential storms, if you see the coverage, you

can see how much rain there has been, that has caused issues.

Thunder and lightning thrown in as well. This area of storms moves

north out of Glasgow but this clutch of heavy downpours pushing into the

south-west of Scotland, we will have to keep an eye on that for the

closing ceremony. One thing is for sure, which showers and blustery

wind, it will not be anything like as fine and warm as it was the
