Police have been given a warrant allowing them to `rrest

the parents of a young boy who was taken from hospital in Southampton,

where he was being treated for a brain tumour.

Ashya King from Southsea is now thought to be

in Spain with his family, prompting a Europe wide alert.

Doctors say Ashya needs urgent medical attention.

Our reporter Ben Moore is at Hampshire police HQ in Ndtley.

Ben, what are the police saying this evenhng?

Well, in the past hour and ` half we have been told they have issued a

European arrest warrant. It marks a change of tack for Hampshird police

who had been playing for thd parents to come forward. They say this

reflects the urgency of the situation. The arrest warrant gives

us the power to arrest the parents, not the brothers and sisters. I have

to stress that should not bd a reason for the family not to come

forward. The priority consideration is the well`being of the little boy.

The concern here is about the boy. Yes, of course. He had an operation

seven days ago and as a restlt cannot feed himself. There has been

publicity about the battery`powered feeding tube which experts say will

have run out of power. It is on that basis police have issued thd arrest
