Good evening. A man arrested in Plymouth yesterday on suspicion of

breaching the Official Secrdts Act has appeared in court and ddnied a

charge of burglary. The 31`xear`old appeared before Torquay Maghstrates

this morning, where he was remanded in custody. John Henderson was in

Kostrzewa leaving Torquay Magistrates' Court this morning He

appeared to face a charge of burglary. The 31`year`old is accused

of entering a property in Plymouth and stealing sensitive and

protectively marked documents relating to Royal Navy warships and

submarines. The court heard that Kostrzewa lives here in Plylouth. He

was initially arrested on Thursday under the Official Secrets @ct of

1911, but has not been charged with any offences under that act.

Kostrzewa spoke a couple of times in court ` first to say that hd

understood the charge and sdcond to say that he was not guilty. Bail was

refused and Kostrzewa was rdmanded to appear at Plymouth Crown Court on

Exeter's only remaining womdn's hostel ` which is under thrdat of

closure ` held an open day today, to highlight the work it does for

vulnerable women. The Esther Community is losing its funding and

is looking for private support to allow its work to continue. Emma

Ruminski reports. This art class is a chance for local

residents to come in and sed what the Esther Community do. Thd hostel

is oversubscribed after the closure of Exeter's Women's Refuge `t the

start of April. It is now stffering its own funding crisis. We have lost

our funding and things are puite difficult at the moment. However,

Keychange Charity and the Esther Community are committed to providing

a service of some sort in the future. The community provides safe

accommodation for those esc`ping domestic abuse, drug, alcohol, or

health problems. The project is a stepping stone for women hoping to

improve their lives and get a more permanent home. Some women who use

this service do not know wh`t they would do without it. A lot of them

would probably go back to bding on the streets and being at rock bottom

again, like they were when they first came here. They would not have

the support that is available to them 24/7 and I think that would be

hard for people to adjust to. Crime figures released this week by the

police show a 19% increase hn domestic abuse in Devon and

Cornwall. Hostels like this one say that they need the public stpport

A woman has been treated in hospital after being pulled from the water at

Devonport in Plymouth. The woman, thought to be twenty years old, was

in the water at the Torpoint Ferry Terminal. A member of the ptblic

pulled her to safety and had to resuscitate her. She was taken to

Derriford Hospital. Campaigners in Penzance are

preparing to petition Cornw`ll Council to ensure the survival of

their outdoor swimming pool. Large`scale repairs are needed

following the winter storms. The Friends of the Jubilee Pool group is

asking the council to match fund any money raised from a Coastal

Communities fund application, to help fund the work. The grotps fears

the pool is in danger of closing without council support.

On to today's football now, and Yeovil Town could only manage a 1`1

draw against Bournemouth at Huish Park as they bid to stay in the

Championship. Meanwhile, beleaguered Torquay United live to fight another

day in the football league. They managed a much needed 2`1 whn at

Bristol Rovers as they try to stave off relegation. Elsewhere in League

Two, Exeter City drew 1`1 whth Cheltenham Town, but Plymouth Argyle

went down to a 2`0 defeat at Oxford United.

In rugby's Aviva Premiership, Exeter Chiefs managed to scrape a narrow

victory at bottom of the table Worcester Warriors. 33`38, the final

score at Sixways. Time for a look at the weather for

the rest of the weekend now. Here is Emily with the forecast.

Hello. We do have some more sunshine to come tomorrow. For this dvening,

it is going to be rather cloudy with some outbreaks of light rain and

drizzle for a time tonight. But it does become dry again later on

tonight and we will have sole clearer skies during the early

hours. Temperatures down to 4`5 degrees in the countryside. Tomorrow

morning, we will have some sunshine and variable cloud, but it should be

dry with some sunshine conthnuing into the afternoon. It should feel a

little warmer tomorrow as wdll, with lighter winds and highs of 03

degrees. Next week, the find weather is set to continue with somd

sunshine through the day on Monday. Still cool overnight, particularly

Monday into Tuesday. We will see some more warm sunshine through the

day on Tuesday and Wednesdax. Bye for now.

We start with a look at the latest satellite sequence, because it shows

what has been going on over the last few hours. This band of cloud has

been slipping south across England and Wales. A bit of patchy rain to

come from that, but nothing of significance. Quite the story across

the north of Scotland . And some fairly frequent showers to the north

and west of Scotland. That is it by dawn. Most places will see clear

spells and it wouldn't turn -- it will turn cold, particularly in raw

areas. In the morning, one or two showers along the northern coast of

Ireland. But the south and east are doing well in the morning. Bright

and breezy across the north of England. A decent start to the day.

Further south, plenty more sunshine, although around some of

the hills, there might be missed and
