Thanks for tuning in to our daily look at the weather

0:00:020:00:04

for the next few days. We'll have a look at some detail

0:00:040:00:07

as far as next week, but we're going to start with the here and now.

0:00:070:00:10

We'll start with Thursday.

0:00:100:00:12

Thursday, for many of us, is going to be similar

0:00:120:00:15

to what we experienced during Wednesday,

0:00:150:00:18

so for many of us it's a dry, fine day

0:00:180:00:20

with some sunshine.

0:00:200:00:22

Let's take the tour.

0:00:220:00:23

Firstly starting with the South of the country.

0:00:230:00:26

This is four o'clock in the afternoon.

0:00:260:00:28

I suspect temperatures will peak

0:00:280:00:30

at around 23 degrees.

0:00:300:00:31

You'll notice there's a lot of shade

0:00:310:00:33

on our weather chart here,

0:00:330:00:34

but I suspect the cloud will be breaking from time to time,

0:00:340:00:37

so it won't be such a bad day.

0:00:370:00:39

Most amounts of sunshine along the South coast

0:00:390:00:41

and these Western areas as well,

0:00:410:00:43

and even in the lowlands of Scotland

0:00:430:00:44

temperatures could get up to around 20 degrees.

0:00:440:00:47

You'll notice above my head, a little rain

0:00:470:00:49

nudging into the Western Isles of Scotland,

0:00:490:00:51

so for our friends in the Outer Hebrides,

0:00:510:00:53

the Western Isles, there could be a few spots of rain.

0:00:530:00:55

A little fresher there as well, around 15 degrees.

0:00:550:00:58

Let's have a look at the forecast for the following night.

0:00:580:01:01

This is Thursday night into Friday.

0:01:010:01:03

You'll notice where the weather front is.

0:01:030:01:05

So some wet weather around for Scotland

0:01:050:01:07

and also Northern Ireland too.

0:01:070:01:08

To the South of that it's going to be

0:01:080:01:11

a dry Friday morning.

0:01:110:01:13

Let's see what happens on Friday.

0:01:130:01:15

Well, there's not much happening

0:01:150:01:16

on the weather charts here.

0:01:160:01:18

All we have is a weather front slicing Scotland

0:01:180:01:20

and just about nudging into Northern Ireland.

0:01:200:01:22

To the South of that, it's quiet.

0:01:220:01:25

So Friday starts off a little on the wet side

0:01:250:01:28

across parts of Scotland,

0:01:280:01:29

particularly Aberdeenshire into Fife,

0:01:290:01:31

maybe through the Lowlands into Belfast as well.

0:01:310:01:34

But if you live further South of that,

0:01:340:01:36

I think at worst you're going to get cloudier skies,

0:01:360:01:40

but a bit of sunshine on the way too.

0:01:400:01:42

We're ending the week on a quiet note

0:01:420:01:44

across the South of the country

0:01:440:01:45

with temperatures up to 22 degrees Celsius.

0:01:450:01:48

Then on Friday, you notice where this weather front is.

0:01:480:01:51

You just get the impression that it's moving

0:01:510:01:53

a little bit further southwards,

0:01:530:01:55

so that means that on Saturday

0:01:550:01:57

it's this more central swathe - so not Scotland,

0:01:570:02:00

it's these more central swathes of the country

0:02:000:02:02

that will have a little more cloud and a few spots of rain,

0:02:020:02:04

but it's a dying weather front, it's falling apart,

0:02:040:02:06

so we're not particularly anticipating any wash-out.

0:02:060:02:08

In fact, for most of us,

0:02:080:02:10

Saturday is going to be dry. Then on Sunday,

0:02:100:02:13

this is Saturday night into Sunday,

0:02:130:02:15

we're in between weather systems.

0:02:150:02:17

One is across here,

0:02:170:02:18

one towards the southwest of our neighbourhood,

0:02:180:02:20

but that one further North

0:02:200:02:22

is just about clipping Scotland.

0:02:220:02:24

So here we are expecting rain,

0:02:240:02:26

cooler weather, too, 14-15 degrees,

0:02:260:02:28

whereas the much better weather

0:02:280:02:30

is across the South of the country.

0:02:300:02:31

As we head into next week, not really much happens.

0:02:310:02:34

You see these pressure lines,

0:02:340:02:35

these white lines, isobars?

0:02:350:02:37

When there's not many of them across our part of the world

0:02:370:02:40

that means that there's not an awful lot of wind.

0:02:400:02:43

I'm going to fade these pressure lines

0:02:430:02:45

and show you what the wind's doing.

0:02:450:02:46

You can see where the low pressures are.

0:02:460:02:48

This is where the real wind is.

0:02:480:02:49

Across us we've got hardly anything at all.

0:02:490:02:51

That basically means that when you have light winds

0:02:510:02:54

the weather doesn't change,

0:02:540:02:55

there's nothing to move the weather patterns

0:02:550:02:57

across the country, so looking at it in a schematic view,

0:02:570:03:02

you've got the high to the South, the low's here.

0:03:020:03:05

That is pushing mild-ish weather, drier weather in our direction.

0:03:050:03:09

So for the week ahead, into next week, that is,

0:03:090:03:13

it looks as though it's going to be relatively quiet.

0:03:130:03:16

The outlook is little rain on the way,

0:03:160:03:18

with that weather pattern it is often going to be dry.

0:03:180:03:20

It's not going to be particularly cold.

0:03:200:03:22

I suspect temperatures will be getting up into the low 20s.

0:03:220:03:25

So that's it.

0:03:250:03:26

That's the outlook for the next few days.
