Thanks for tuning in to our regular weather update | 0:00:01 | 0:00:03
for the next ten days or so. | 0:00:03 | 0:00:04
We have a look at the weather trends from around about day six to day ten. | 0:00:04 | 0:00:08
The details, first of all, for the next few days. | 0:00:08 | 0:00:11
We're going to start with the weekend. | 0:00:11 | 0:00:12
There is a little bit of rain in the forecast. | 0:00:12 | 0:00:15
You can see here across parts of Yorkshire | 0:00:15 | 0:00:17
into Lincolnshire some spots of rain, | 0:00:17 | 0:00:19
then some showers on the way | 0:00:19 | 0:00:20
across the Pennines and Scotland. | 0:00:20 | 0:00:21
But to the south of that, | 0:00:21 | 0:00:23
I think all the way from the London area, | 0:00:23 | 0:00:25
certainly Essex, East Anglia, | 0:00:25 | 0:00:26
the South Midlands down into the Southwest, | 0:00:26 | 0:00:29
it should be a dry day. | 0:00:29 | 0:00:30
You can just about pick out | 0:00:30 | 0:00:31
a couple of light showers here. | 0:00:31 | 0:00:37
We're really talking about just 10-15 minutes of rain | 0:00:37 | 0:00:40
with a bit of sun in between. | 0:00:40 | 0:00:42
That sort of weather is anticipated across the Pennines, | 0:00:42 | 0:00:45
perhaps northern parts of Scotland. | 0:00:45 | 0:00:47
Northern Ireland probably getting away with a dry day. | 0:00:47 | 0:00:49
You can see it's a bit fresher here | 0:00:49 | 0:00:51
compared to the south of the country, | 0:00:51 | 0:00:53
15 there in Belfast, 16 in Glasgow. | 0:00:53 | 0:00:56
Now for the following night, | 0:00:56 | 0:00:58
this is Saturday night into the early hours of Sunday. | 0:00:58 | 0:01:02
Notice this area of rain. | 0:01:02 | 0:01:04
It's across the northern portion | 0:01:04 | 0:01:05
of the North Sea and it's curving back into Scotland. | 0:01:05 | 0:01:08
Now what's happening across this part | 0:01:08 | 0:01:10
of the British Isles is an area of low pressure | 0:01:10 | 0:01:13
is actually intensifying. | 0:01:13 | 0:01:15
It's reinvigorating itself. | 0:01:15 | 0:01:16
It's been sitting here for quite some time. | 0:01:16 | 0:01:19
This effectively translates to stronger winds | 0:01:19 | 0:01:22
for eastern parts of Scotland and a period of rain, | 0:01:22 | 0:01:25
so anywhere from northern Scotland, around Moray, | 0:01:25 | 0:01:28
into Aberdeenshire, possibly Fife, | 0:01:28 | 0:01:29
we're thinking generally north of Edinburgh, | 0:01:29 | 0:01:32
it could be quite a wet, cool, unpleasant, | 0:01:32 | 0:01:34
breezy sort of day. | 0:01:34 | 0:01:36
That's the exception there. | 0:01:36 | 0:01:37
You can see 13 in Aberdeen. | 0:01:37 | 0:01:39
To the south of that, a completely different story. | 0:01:39 | 0:01:41
It should be a bright day, | 0:01:41 | 0:01:43
fine day, really, for most of us | 0:01:43 | 0:01:44
with temperatures in the high teens | 0:01:44 | 0:01:46
or round about the low 20s. | 0:01:46 | 0:01:48
That low pressure, we finally say goodbye to it | 0:01:48 | 0:01:50
through the course of Monday, | 0:01:50 | 0:01:52
but it very slowly just drifts away. | 0:01:52 | 0:01:54
This high tucks in behind it. | 0:01:54 | 0:01:56
So if you can imagine the area of low pressure here, | 0:01:56 | 0:01:59
the high pressure's here, it's tucking in, | 0:01:59 | 0:02:01
bringing much drier, brighter, sunnier conditions | 0:02:01 | 0:02:04
to most parts of the country. | 0:02:04 | 0:02:06
But the cool air still remains, though, across Scotland. | 0:02:06 | 0:02:09
The high early next week - | 0:02:09 | 0:02:11
this is Monday and Tuesday we're talking about - | 0:02:11 | 0:02:14
really sits on top of the country. | 0:02:14 | 0:02:16
That means light winds | 0:02:16 | 0:02:17
with sunshine and a bit of cloud stuck as well. | 0:02:17 | 0:02:21
So what I'm trying to say is that many of us | 0:02:21 | 0:02:23
will have dry weather with some sunshine, | 0:02:23 | 0:02:25
but a few of us, unfortunately, will be stuck underneath | 0:02:25 | 0:02:27
the grey skies through much of the day. | 0:02:27 | 0:02:30
It really is going to be a question | 0:02:30 | 0:02:31
of trying to get the right details | 0:02:31 | 0:02:33
of precisely how much sunshine we're going to get. | 0:02:33 | 0:02:36
You can see as we head into midweek next week | 0:02:36 | 0:02:38
there's a low here and a high here. | 0:02:38 | 0:02:41
What does that mean schematically? | 0:02:41 | 0:02:43
Well, very light winds across the UK | 0:02:43 | 0:02:45
with the high pressure, that's for sure, | 0:02:45 | 0:02:47
so in the sunshine it'll feel fairly warm. | 0:02:47 | 0:02:49
But you can see there's a lot of rain here | 0:02:49 | 0:02:51
around this area of low pressure, | 0:02:51 | 0:02:53
and it's not a million miles away from us. | 0:02:53 | 0:02:55
So we're thinking that at least middle of next week | 0:02:55 | 0:02:59
with that high here and the low here, | 0:02:59 | 0:03:01
you can see how these highs and lows spin, | 0:03:01 | 0:03:03
they drag in warmer air, | 0:03:03 | 0:03:04
but later in that period here, this low will come closer to the UK | 0:03:04 | 0:03:09
and possibly bring the threat of some rain to the southwest of the country. | 0:03:09 | 0:03:13
But that's still a long way off. | 0:03:13 | 0:03:15
I think overall we want to emphasise that there will be little rain, | 0:03:15 | 0:03:18
it should be warm by day, | 0:03:18 | 0:03:19
but the nights are going to be a little on the chilly side. | 0:03:19 | 0:03:23
So that's it, those are our thoughts | 0:03:23 | 0:03:24
for the next ten days or so. Bye. | 0:03:24 | 0:03:26
Tom, I've kept a secret from you. | 0:03:29 | 0:03:32
I never meant to lie to you. I just did what I thought I had to. | 0:03:32 | 0:03:37
The quieter you keep a secret, the louder it explodes. | 0:03:37 | 0:03:42
Why?! | 0:03:43 | 0:03:44 | |
Tell me now! | 0:03:44 | 0:03:46
Tell me the truth! | 0:03:46 | 0:03:47
I don't know what's happening. | 0:03:49 | 0:03:51
I don't know what I'm doing. | 0:03:51 | 0:03:52 |
