Thanks for tuning in to our regular weather update

0:00:010:00:03

for the next ten days or so.

0:00:030:00:04

We have a look at the weather trends from around about day six to day ten.

0:00:040:00:08

The details, first of all, for the next few days.

0:00:080:00:11

We're going to start with the weekend.

0:00:110:00:12

There is a little bit of rain in the forecast.

0:00:120:00:15

You can see here across parts of Yorkshire

0:00:150:00:17

into Lincolnshire some spots of rain,

0:00:170:00:19

then some showers on the way

0:00:190:00:20

across the Pennines and Scotland.

0:00:200:00:21

But to the south of that,

0:00:210:00:23

I think all the way from the London area,

0:00:230:00:25

certainly Essex, East Anglia,

0:00:250:00:26

the South Midlands down into the Southwest,

0:00:260:00:29

it should be a dry day.

0:00:290:00:30

You can just about pick out

0:00:300:00:31

a couple of light showers here.

0:00:310:00:37

We're really talking about just 10-15 minutes of rain

0:00:370:00:40

with a bit of sun in between.

0:00:400:00:42

That sort of weather is anticipated across the Pennines,

0:00:420:00:45

perhaps northern parts of Scotland.

0:00:450:00:47

Northern Ireland probably getting away with a dry day.

0:00:470:00:49

You can see it's a bit fresher here

0:00:490:00:51

compared to the south of the country,

0:00:510:00:53

15 there in Belfast, 16 in Glasgow.

0:00:530:00:56

Now for the following night,

0:00:560:00:58

this is Saturday night into the early hours of Sunday.

0:00:580:01:02

Notice this area of rain.

0:01:020:01:04

It's across the northern portion

0:01:040:01:05

of the North Sea and it's curving back into Scotland.

0:01:050:01:08

Now what's happening across this part

0:01:080:01:10

of the British Isles is an area of low pressure

0:01:100:01:13

is actually intensifying.

0:01:130:01:15

It's reinvigorating itself.

0:01:150:01:16

It's been sitting here for quite some time.

0:01:160:01:19

This effectively translates to stronger winds

0:01:190:01:22

for eastern parts of Scotland and a period of rain,

0:01:220:01:25

so anywhere from northern Scotland, around Moray,

0:01:250:01:28

into Aberdeenshire, possibly Fife,

0:01:280:01:29

we're thinking generally north of Edinburgh,

0:01:290:01:32

it could be quite a wet, cool, unpleasant,

0:01:320:01:34

breezy sort of day.

0:01:340:01:36

That's the exception there.

0:01:360:01:37

You can see 13 in Aberdeen.

0:01:370:01:39

To the south of that, a completely different story.

0:01:390:01:41

It should be a bright day,

0:01:410:01:43

fine day, really, for most of us

0:01:430:01:44

with temperatures in the high teens

0:01:440:01:46

or round about the low 20s.

0:01:460:01:48

That low pressure, we finally say goodbye to it

0:01:480:01:50

through the course of Monday,

0:01:500:01:52

but it very slowly just drifts away.

0:01:520:01:54

This high tucks in behind it.

0:01:540:01:56

So if you can imagine the area of low pressure here,

0:01:560:01:59

the high pressure's here, it's tucking in,

0:01:590:02:01

bringing much drier, brighter, sunnier conditions

0:02:010:02:04

to most parts of the country.

0:02:040:02:06

But the cool air still remains, though, across Scotland.

0:02:060:02:09

The high early next week -

0:02:090:02:11

this is Monday and Tuesday we're talking about -

0:02:110:02:14

really sits on top of the country.

0:02:140:02:16

That means light winds

0:02:160:02:17

with sunshine and a bit of cloud stuck as well.

0:02:170:02:21

So what I'm trying to say is that many of us

0:02:210:02:23

will have dry weather with some sunshine,

0:02:230:02:25

but a few of us, unfortunately, will be stuck underneath

0:02:250:02:27

the grey skies through much of the day.

0:02:270:02:30

It really is going to be a question

0:02:300:02:31

of trying to get the right details

0:02:310:02:33

of precisely how much sunshine we're going to get.

0:02:330:02:36

You can see as we head into midweek next week

0:02:360:02:38

there's a low here and a high here.

0:02:380:02:41

What does that mean schematically?

0:02:410:02:43

Well, very light winds across the UK

0:02:430:02:45

with the high pressure, that's for sure,

0:02:450:02:47

so in the sunshine it'll feel fairly warm.

0:02:470:02:49

But you can see there's a lot of rain here

0:02:490:02:51

around this area of low pressure,

0:02:510:02:53

and it's not a million miles away from us.

0:02:530:02:55

So we're thinking that at least middle of next week

0:02:550:02:59

with that high here and the low here,

0:02:590:03:01

you can see how these highs and lows spin,

0:03:010:03:03

they drag in warmer air,

0:03:030:03:04

but later in that period here, this low will come closer to the UK

0:03:040:03:09

and possibly bring the threat of some rain to the southwest of the country.

0:03:090:03:13

But that's still a long way off.

0:03:130:03:15

I think overall we want to emphasise that there will be little rain,

0:03:150:03:18

it should be warm by day,

0:03:180:03:19

but the nights are going to be a little on the chilly side.

0:03:190:03:23

So that's it, those are our thoughts

0:03:230:03:24

for the next ten days or so. Bye.

0:03:240:03:26

Tom, I've kept a secret from you.

0:03:290:03:32

I never meant to lie to you. I just did what I thought I had to.

0:03:320:03:37

The quieter you keep a secret, the louder it explodes.

0:03:370:03:42

Why?!

0:03:430:03:44

Tell me now!

0:03:440:03:46

Tell me the truth!

0:03:460:03:47

I don't know what's happening.

0:03:490:03:51

I don't know what I'm doing.
