Hello. It's time to take a look at the weather conditions over

0:00:020:00:05

the week ahead and a glimpse of what might lie beyond.

0:00:050:00:07

The weather could eventually be influenced by developments quite a

0:00:070:00:10

long way away from our shores.

0:00:100:00:11

In the short-term through this weekend we are more or less

0:00:110:00:14

set fair to be honest.

0:00:140:00:15

It's looking good for mostly dry, bright, and at times sunny weather,

0:00:150:00:19

though it could turn a touch breezy eventually.

0:00:190:00:21

If you were watching last night I was describing the way that the

0:00:210:00:24

jet stream, the strong westerly jet stream, which normally powers across

0:00:240:00:28

the Atlantic is really being deflected way to the South and it's

0:00:280:00:32

getting cut off by a huge great vortex.

0:00:320:00:35

This is where all the weather action is taking place.

0:00:350:00:38

Areas of cloud and rain revolving around that vortex.

0:00:380:00:42

They're not making much headway towards us

0:00:420:00:44

because that jet stream is not moving things on.

0:00:440:00:47

Instead we are experiencing mostly dry, fine and settled weather

0:00:470:00:51

because closer to home we have the influence of high pressure

0:00:510:00:55

and that's just to the East of our shores.

0:00:550:00:57

It will continue to fend off this area of low pressure for a

0:00:570:01:01

while longer.

0:01:010:01:02

That's the reason that for the next couple of days we'll be dry

0:01:020:01:06

with plenty of fine weather to look forward to by day.

0:01:060:01:09

There will be some mist and fog patches. It's autumn after all.

0:01:090:01:12

They should lift away quite nicely through the morning and then,

0:01:120:01:15

although there will be some patchy cloud,

0:01:150:01:17

most of us can look forward to plenty of sunshine

0:01:170:01:19

through the day.

0:01:190:01:20

The winds will be fairly light coming in from the East

0:01:200:01:23

and in the sunshine temperatures really doing pretty well again,

0:01:230:01:26

up into the high teens, the low 20s,

0:01:260:01:29

quite nicely.

0:01:290:01:30

Sunday will provide more of the same.

0:01:300:01:33

In broad terms plenty more fine, dry and bright weather.

0:01:330:01:36

The breeze will be freshening a little bit from the East.

0:01:360:01:38

You will notice that particularly across Southern areas

0:01:380:01:40

and it could well thicken up the cloud across some Eastern areas

0:01:400:01:43

and produce the odd drizzly shower,

0:01:430:01:45

but I must stress that nearly all of us

0:01:450:01:46

will stay dry with plenty more fine, bright weather in the sunshine.

0:01:460:01:50

Again temperatures getting up into the low 20s

0:01:500:01:53

in a good few locations.

0:01:530:01:55

That's the weekend done and dusted. What about further ahead?

0:01:550:01:59

First of all we have to look to the East.

0:01:590:02:01

We have a little weather system coming in across the North Sea

0:02:010:02:04

and that could deliver some showery outbreaks of rain into

0:02:040:02:08

Eastern areas primarily. Pretty hit and miss.

0:02:080:02:11

Not reliable rain by any means.

0:02:110:02:13

If you do need wet weather then don't bank on this to provide it.

0:02:130:02:16

Many places again will be dry.

0:02:160:02:18

Once more in the sunshine it will feel pleasant enough.

0:02:180:02:20

That little feature will slide its way up the North Sea coast into

0:02:200:02:23

parts of Eastern Scotland we think by Tuesday.

0:02:230:02:26

Further showery bursts of rain possible here for a time with a cool

0:02:260:02:28

breeze off the sea, but again further South

0:02:280:02:31

and West it will be fine with some sunshine.

0:02:310:02:33

Wednesday again most places will stay dry with some sunshine,

0:02:330:02:37

but then all eyes to the Southwest with that vortex,

0:02:370:02:40

that deep area of low pressure I mentioned.

0:02:400:02:42

The question is how quickly that low pressure moves up towards us.

0:02:420:02:47

It could well be that it's going to be a real struggle and the

0:02:470:02:50

impact of that low against that

0:02:500:02:52

high pressure could be quite limited.

0:02:520:02:54

Rain could arrive for a time but it might not get very far

0:02:540:02:58

and the reason for that could well lie in the Central Atlantic.

0:02:580:03:01

We are keeping an eye on Tropical Storm Edouard.

0:03:010:03:04

That's developing.

0:03:040:03:05

It could intensify into a hurricane

0:03:050:03:07

and head its way Northwards through the Atlantic.

0:03:070:03:11

And although it will go nowhere near the UK it could have a

0:03:110:03:13

downstream effect on our weather and make things even less

0:03:130:03:17

certain by the end of next week.

0:03:170:03:18

So although it will turn briefly less settled it could well be that the

0:03:180:03:21

high-pressure hangs on.

0:03:210:03:23

There won't be much in the way of rainfall and potentially

0:03:230:03:26

towards the end of the next week it could turn pretty warm indeed.

0:03:260:03:29

That's it. Good night.

What kind of story are we talking?

0:03:360:03:38

Good afternoon.

0:03:410:03:43

We have got teams all over the UK. I want this story blown wide open.
