Hello. September so far has been exceptionally dry across the UK.

0:00:040:00:06

We are expecting some rain this week,

0:00:060:00:08

much of that in the Northwest of the UK.

0:00:080:00:11

By the end of this week we could see another

0:00:110:00:13

couple of inches for parts of Western Scotland,

0:00:130:00:16

around 20 to 40 millimetres expected for Southwest Scotland down

0:00:160:00:20

through Northwest England and North Wales.

0:00:200:00:22

But the rest of the UK seeing very little.

0:00:220:00:25

The reason for that is pressure remains relatively high,

0:00:250:00:28

so although there are going to be some weather fronts across the UK

0:00:280:00:32

they move down as relatively weak features,

0:00:320:00:34

not producing a huge amount of rain.

0:00:340:00:36

And in fact we start Tuesday with one of those fronts

0:00:360:00:39

sitting across Northern England, clearing away from Northern Ireland

0:00:390:00:42

and by the afternoon bringing the chance of some rain to North Wales.

0:00:420:00:47

To the South, after some early morning mist and fog, it becomes

0:00:470:00:50

drier and brighter with some sunny spells for the afternoon.

0:00:500:00:52

Staying fairly cloudy across parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland

0:00:520:00:55

with some more rain returning here for the end of the day.

0:00:550:00:59

Temperatures in Glasgow and Belfast 14 to 15 degrees, further South

0:00:590:01:02

we are looking at the high teens with the possibility of 20 in London.

0:01:020:01:05

We have still got those weather fronts with us

0:01:050:01:08

through Tuesday night and into Wednesday,

0:01:080:01:10

but they are clearing Eastwards, allowing the high to build back in.

0:01:100:01:14

But the legacy of those weather fronts leaving us a little bit

0:01:140:01:17

overcast first thing on Wednesday morning with some patchy

0:01:170:01:20

outbreaks of rain, much of that fairly light,

0:01:200:01:22

and by the afternoon it has cleared away so we finish fine

0:01:220:01:25

and dry with some bright or even some sunny spells.

0:01:250:01:29

Temperatures to the South still high teens, possibly the low 20s,

0:01:290:01:33

and around 14 to 15 for Scotland and Northern Ireland.

0:01:330:01:37

By the time we reach Thursday that high is pushing in across the UK.

0:01:370:01:41

Still the potential for the end of the week for some of these weather

0:01:410:01:44

fronts in the Atlantic to brush past Northern Scotland

0:01:440:01:48

and you'll notice the isobars quite tightly packed together.

0:01:480:01:51

The winds will pick up for Thursday and Friday.

0:01:510:01:54

A little bit breezy across the North of the UK.

0:01:540:01:56

It's looking fairly overcast. Any rain quite patchy and light

0:01:560:02:00

and mostly across the Northwest of the UK

0:02:000:02:03

with temperatures climbing up a degree or so at 16 to 18 degrees.

0:02:030:02:07

Again on Friday it's looking quite cloudy.

0:02:070:02:09

Some mist and fog possible in the South

0:02:090:02:11

where we are looking at some brighter spells by the afternoon

0:02:110:02:14

lifting temperatures to 22 degrees.

0:02:140:02:16

And of course on Friday we've got the Ryder Cup starting. As far

0:02:160:02:20

as the weather is concerned it looks like it should be dry.

0:02:200:02:23

The wind perhaps more of a concern for the golfers.

0:02:230:02:26

Quite a strong Westerly wind on Friday,

0:02:260:02:28

but they will be falling lighter as the weekend goes on.

0:02:280:02:31

The strong winds becoming confined to the North of Scotland

0:02:310:02:35

throughout the weekend where you can see many places dry,

0:02:350:02:37

a little bit overcast at times, still on the warm side with many

0:02:370:02:41

places seeing temperatures in the high teens.

0:02:410:02:44

And really this is where we would expect the temperatures

0:02:440:02:46

for the end of September.

0:02:460:02:48

And by the end of the weekend we are looking at around 16,

0:02:480:02:50

17 degrees for Scotland and Northern Ireland, still

0:02:500:02:53

staying in the low 20s for Southern counties of England and Wales.

0:02:530:02:58

And into next week it still looks like this

0:02:580:03:01

high pressure is going to remain with us.

0:03:010:03:03

Fairly high confidence in the forecast that we're not

0:03:030:03:05

expecting much rain as we look in to next week.

0:03:050:03:07

What that high is doing is deflecting all of our low-pressure systems,

0:03:070:03:11

rain-bearing weather fronts, away from the UK.

0:03:110:03:14

They could at times affect parts of the Northwest,

0:03:140:03:17

so here it's more likely to be unsettled.

0:03:170:03:20

And just the confidence in the forecast a little bit

0:03:200:03:23

lower on the details of how far South those fronts are likely to spread,

0:03:230:03:26

but we'll keep you up-to-date on the forecast. Bye for now.

CHATTER

0:03:320:03:35

I put my arms over my son and I put my leg over my daughter,

0:03:370:03:40

then the footsteps got closer and closer

0:03:400:03:42

and then the shooting began.
