Hello, there. The past weeks

0:00:020:00:03

have brought us a drier and fairly settled spell of weather

0:00:030:00:06

across much of the country.

0:00:060:00:07

Things have been changing over the past couple of days, though.

0:00:070:00:11

Through the rest of Easter, an unsettled story.

0:00:110:00:13

Things often very windy, some heavy rain at times.

0:00:130:00:16

There will be some sunshine on offer, I think

0:00:160:00:18

particularly at times between the showers on Easter Day.

0:00:180:00:21

But, what about Saturday morning?

0:00:210:00:22

Well, we start off Saturday with wet and windy weather

0:00:220:00:24

already across northern and western parts of the country.

0:00:240:00:27

You can see this band of rain

0:00:270:00:28

which will be working gradually eastwards across much of the

0:00:280:00:31

country, bringing the heaviest of the rain and strongest of the winds

0:00:310:00:34

probably across portions of England and Wales.

0:00:340:00:37

Let's take a look at 3pm in the afternoon, then.

0:00:370:00:39

We'll have some spells of heavy rain with strong, squally winds

0:00:390:00:42

right across the south-west of England, much of Wales too.

0:00:420:00:44

East Anglia and the South East holding on to cloudy

0:00:440:00:47

but mainly dry conditions through much of the day.

0:00:470:00:49

It will turn wet and windy increasingly later on.

0:00:490:00:51

But the wind and the rain affecting much of northern England,

0:00:510:00:54

southern Scotland too, and another band of heavy showers

0:00:540:00:57

rattling in across Northern Ireland later in the day.

0:00:570:00:59

So, really, wherever you are, the weather is looking blustery,

0:00:590:01:02

unsettled, with spells of rain and strong winds.

0:01:020:01:04

Through the course of Saturday evening and overnight, this band

0:01:040:01:07

of rain and strong winds gradually pushes away towards the east.

0:01:070:01:11

So we're going see a slightly quieter spell of weather

0:01:110:01:13

to start off Easter Day, but quite soon, those showers get going,

0:01:130:01:16

moving in from the west. And the showers on Easter Day, on Sunday,

0:01:160:01:19

will be heavy at times with some hail, some thunder mixed in as well,

0:01:190:01:23

some brightness in between the showers.

0:01:230:01:24

So you're likely to see some glimpses of sunshine

0:01:240:01:27

8 to 12 degrees, feeling a little bit cooler than that

0:01:270:01:30

with the squally winds and the showers around too.

0:01:300:01:32

And then things get interesting once again,

0:01:320:01:34

looking ahead now into Easter Monday.

0:01:340:01:36

Storm Katie, it's been named by the Met Office,

0:01:360:01:38

that's set to approach from the south-west, from the Atlantic.

0:01:380:01:41

With the tight isobars around that storm,

0:01:410:01:42

it is going to be a very windy day,

0:01:420:01:44

for many places through the day on Easter Monday.

0:01:440:01:47

So, particularly across England and Wales,

0:01:470:01:49

we could have gales or even severe gales,

0:01:490:01:50

especially around hills and coasts. Heavy rain too,

0:01:500:01:53

pushing gradually northwards and eastwards across the country.

0:01:530:01:56

Some slightly quieter weather for the likes of the West

0:01:560:01:58

of Scotland and Northern Ireland, with some scattered showers.

0:01:580:02:01

But it is looking like a blustery and unsettled day,

0:02:010:02:04

really, wherever you are.

0:02:040:02:05

So if you have got travel plans for Easter Monday,

0:02:050:02:07

do be warned that combination of gales

0:02:070:02:10

and heavy rain could lead to some travel disruption.

0:02:100:02:13

Once we lose that storm system, Storm Katie moves off gradually

0:02:130:02:17

towards the north-east and then we're left with a west or

0:02:170:02:20

north-west airflow and that means, as we look ahead now into Tuesday,

0:02:200:02:24

what we will see is another showery day.

0:02:240:02:26

Some sunshine, some scattered showers around.

0:02:260:02:28

Now, most of the showers should move through fairly

0:02:280:02:30

quickly on the breeze through the day on Tuesday,

0:02:300:02:32

so nothing particularly happy, but again it will feel a little

0:02:320:02:35

bit cool, particularly where you are exposed to that breeze.

0:02:350:02:37

And then heading into the middle of the week, some uncertainty.

0:02:370:02:39

We've got a low pressure system not far away from southern areas.

0:02:390:02:43

It looks like it will probably stay to the south of the UK

0:02:430:02:45

but that is the potential this could be a little bit further north.

0:02:450:02:48

But, in general, we are looking at a day of sunshine and showers,

0:02:480:02:51

I think through the day on Wednesday.

0:02:510:02:53

The wind's probably not quite as strong compared to Tuesday,

0:02:530:02:56

so some of the showers could be fairly heavy at times.

0:02:560:02:59

Late next week, though, after the unsettled conditions,

0:02:590:03:02

it does look like high-pressure will move in for a time.

0:03:020:03:04

So, as we look through Thursday and Friday,

0:03:040:03:06

some slightly quieter weather, drier conditions but also with a risk of

0:03:060:03:09

some chilly nights and a touch of frost possible late next week,

0:03:090:03:12

with that higher pressure in charge.

0:03:120:03:14

It does look like on into next weekend, eventually,

0:03:140:03:16

that high-pressure will start to be eroded,

0:03:160:03:18

so things will turn unsettled eventually,

0:03:180:03:20

a little bit windier with some rain but also some sunshine at times too.

0:03:200:03:25

Lots going on with the weather for the week ahead,

0:03:250:03:27

we'll keep you updated right here. Bye-bye.
