Hello, thanks for tuning in.

0:00:020:00:04

The weather's not looking great out there, is it?

0:00:040:00:06

Lots of rain, strong winds too, and that's how it's going to remain

0:00:060:00:09

for the rest of the Easter weekend and into most of next week as well.

0:00:090:00:12

We'll see spells of wind and rain crossing the UK.

0:00:120:00:15

In fact, Monday could be particularly stormy

0:00:150:00:17

across the south-east of the country.

0:00:170:00:20

Here's the jet stream and the clouds

0:00:200:00:21

pushed in by the jet stream, or the weather system.

0:00:210:00:24

You can see this dip in the jet stream here,

0:00:240:00:26

areas of low pressure being spinned up there across the North Atlantic

0:00:260:00:30

and hurled in our direction by this strong jet stream

0:00:300:00:33

and Easter Monday itself is going to be a blustery one.

0:00:330:00:36

We've got quite strong south-westerly winds across the UK.

0:00:360:00:39

Initially, there'll be some showers in the morning

0:00:390:00:41

across many western areas of the UK,

0:00:410:00:43

then through the course of the afternoon,

0:00:430:00:45

this strong south-westerly wind

0:00:450:00:46

is going to push those showers further inland

0:00:460:00:48

and also further east as well.

0:00:480:00:50

Let's start the forecast for the afternoon.

0:00:500:00:53

Easter Day, then, three o'clock in the south.

0:00:530:00:55

You can see some sunshine around too,

0:00:550:00:57

but these showers could be quite heavy.

0:00:570:00:59

They could appear suddenly,

0:00:590:01:00

there could be some hail and thunder as well and within,

0:01:000:01:03

those winds will be particularly gusty, blustery,

0:01:030:01:06

so temperatures of around six to ten degrees,

0:01:060:01:09

really will feel quite chilly

0:01:090:01:11

and plenty of those showers scattered around across Scotland

0:01:110:01:14

and Northern Ireland as well, but if you're sheltered from the wind

0:01:140:01:17

and you're in the sunshine, it shouldn't feel too bad at all.

0:01:170:01:19

This is into Easter Monday itself,

0:01:190:01:22

so Easter Day evening into Easter Monday.

0:01:220:01:24

This is Storm Kate.

0:01:240:01:26

It's been given a name because it could be quite a nasty storm

0:01:260:01:29

and it does look as though at this stage,

0:01:290:01:31

it's heading to southern parts of the UK,

0:01:310:01:33

anywhere from central southern England,

0:01:330:01:35

the south-east of England.

0:01:350:01:36

We could have severe gales, so if you're travelling early,

0:01:360:01:39

very early on Monday morning,

0:01:390:01:40

just be aware that the conditions on the roads could be very nasty.

0:01:400:01:43

These are the early hours

0:01:430:01:45

of the morning on Easter Monday.

0:01:450:01:46

Some very heavy rain. You can see where the gales are here.

0:01:460:01:49

Not just round the coasts, but very windy inland too.

0:01:490:01:51

By lunchtime, that storm blows itself out,

0:01:510:01:54

it moves out into the North Sea and behind it, still a rush of wind,

0:01:540:01:57

but at least there'll be some sunshine.

0:01:570:01:59

So that's across the south of the country.

0:01:590:02:01

Further north, certainly from north Midlands northwards,

0:02:010:02:05

the weather's actually not looking bad at all on Easter Monday itself.

0:02:050:02:09

Then Tuesday, another fairly breezy day.

0:02:090:02:12

You can see the south-westerly winds,

0:02:120:02:13

there'll be some showers around, perhaps the odd heavier one.

0:02:130:02:16

On balance, a better day compared to Monday.

0:02:160:02:19

At least, the morning will be,

0:02:190:02:22

but still, not a completely dry one.

0:02:220:02:24

Then the middle part of the week,

0:02:240:02:26

we're sort of in between weather systems.

0:02:260:02:28

This is Tuesday night into Wednesday.

0:02:280:02:30

You can see fronts fairly close to the UK.

0:02:300:02:32

So are the low pressures,

0:02:320:02:34

so that basically means that Wednesday's

0:02:340:02:35

kind of an in-betweeny day.

0:02:350:02:37

There'll be some cloud around,

0:02:370:02:38

there'll be one or two outbreaks of rain,

0:02:380:02:40

but also plenty of dry weather in between,

0:02:400:02:43

so the detail's pretty uncertain for Wednesday itself,

0:02:430:02:45

but at least it doesn't look like it's going to be

0:02:450:02:48

a complete wash-out and if anything, there'll be some sunshine.

0:02:480:02:51

That fine, or hint of fine weather,

0:02:510:02:53

actually continues into Thursday,

0:02:530:02:54

this area of high pressure from the Azores builds,

0:02:540:02:57

things settle down.

0:02:570:02:58

The far north of the country, certainly northern Scotland

0:02:580:03:00

and the Northern Isles, perhaps some rain and stronger winds,

0:03:000:03:03

but for the rest of the UK, apart from the odd shower,

0:03:030:03:06

it shouldn't be too bad,

0:03:060:03:07

but weather fronts waiting out there in the Atlantic,

0:03:070:03:10

heading our way, so that means that the end of the week ahead

0:03:100:03:13

is looking pretty unsettled with further wind and rain

0:03:130:03:17

and the longer-term outlook, so later next week,

0:03:170:03:20

it does look as though high pressure will be close

0:03:200:03:22

to eastern parts of the UK, where it might be more settled,

0:03:220:03:24

but low pressures will be once again heading our way,

0:03:240:03:27

so that means unsettled.

0:03:270:03:29

The voice you're hearing is mine.

0:03:350:03:37

It was recorded last night after I had a few pints.

0:03:370:03:40

I'm doing this to show that...

0:03:400:03:43

(slurs) alcohol takes so long to pass through me body.

0:03:430:03:46

Even though I feel sober now, my body is still drunk.
