Hello there. It's been an unsettled end to the working week.

0:00:030:00:05

We've had rain, sleet and snow over the hills

0:00:050:00:08

and some thunderstorms, too.

0:00:080:00:09

Things will turn a bit quieter gradually through the weekend.

0:00:090:00:12

On Saturday, though, still some wintry showers on the cards,

0:00:120:00:15

and it will be feeling cold wherever you are on Saturday.

0:00:150:00:18

Sunday, a cold, frosty start, but more in the way of sunshine,

0:00:180:00:21

and some drier weather on the cards eventually by Sunday, too.

0:00:210:00:25

Here's the pressure situation. We've still got a few fronts

0:00:250:00:27

lingering, for eastern areas in particular, on Saturday

0:00:270:00:30

but higher pressure starting to build in from the Atlantic.

0:00:300:00:33

So, for Saturday morning, some outbreaks of rain,

0:00:330:00:35

even some hill snow pushing through parts of northern England.

0:00:350:00:38

Central and eastern parts of England keeping the cloud

0:00:380:00:40

and the outbreaks of rain through the day, turning more showery.

0:00:400:00:43

Some sleet and snow showers likely across the hills of Scotland

0:00:430:00:47

for a time, but many western areas seeing some sunshine.

0:00:470:00:50

Look at those temperatures - single figures,

0:00:500:00:52

just five degrees for Norwich.

0:00:520:00:54

We've got this cold northerly wind, so anywhere exposed to that wind

0:00:540:00:56

will feel pretty raw through the day.

0:00:560:00:59

Now, overnight and as we head into Sunday, showers clear,

0:00:590:01:02

winds fall light,

0:01:020:01:03

particularly cold for the time of year, a really sharp

0:01:030:01:06

frost really across the board as we move through into Sunday morning.

0:01:060:01:09

It might be a little bit milder towards the south-east.

0:01:090:01:12

But Sunday's set to start on a very chilly note with that sharp frost.

0:01:120:01:16

Now, through the day, we will see a weak front just approaching the far

0:01:160:01:19

north-west of the country, so for Sunday a bit cloudier with light,

0:01:190:01:22

drizzly rain for Western Scotland

0:01:220:01:24

and western parts of Northern Ireland,

0:01:240:01:26

but there should be brighter spells

0:01:260:01:27

for eastern parts of Northern Ireland and Scotland.

0:01:270:01:30

And for England and Wales, not a bad day after that early frost

0:01:300:01:33

and some mist around. Sunny spells through much of the day.

0:01:330:01:36

And those temperatures will be back up a few degrees warmer

0:01:360:01:39

compared to Saturday but still rather cool for the time of year.

0:01:390:01:42

Now, as we move into the new working week,

0:01:420:01:44

heading on into Monday, this frontal system

0:01:440:01:46

slips a little bit further south across the country.

0:01:460:01:49

Not too much on that, but we could just see

0:01:490:01:51

a few spots of light rain shifting south.

0:01:510:01:53

Temperatures still a little below average for the time of year

0:01:530:01:56

but Monday's shaping up to be not a bad day.

0:01:560:01:57

With that north-westerly air flow,

0:01:570:01:59

temperatures between around about ten to fourteen degrees

0:01:590:02:02

and some decent spells of sunshine, although there could be just

0:02:020:02:05

a few spots of light rain shifting south during the day.

0:02:050:02:09

Moving on into Tuesday, we start to see this large area of high

0:02:090:02:12

pressure just becoming established across the UK.

0:02:120:02:15

Low pressure remaining well out towards the south.

0:02:150:02:17

Yesterday, there was a thought that that low pressure might move up

0:02:170:02:20

towards south-western parts of the UK, but, in fact,

0:02:200:02:23

it looks like Tuesday will remain largely dry and settled.

0:02:230:02:26

14 degrees or so towards the south-east,

0:02:260:02:28

a little cooler where you're exposed to that breeze

0:02:280:02:30

around parts of Scotland and eastern England, too.

0:02:300:02:33

Into Wednesday, high pressure's still the main driving force.

0:02:330:02:37

We've got low pressure out towards the south,

0:02:370:02:39

low pressure also towards the north, so a trailing weather front

0:02:390:02:42

likely to bring some rain across the north-west of Scotland.

0:02:420:02:44

Elsewhere, things are dry and, after night-time frosts

0:02:440:02:48

and some mist, should feel reasonably pleasant with

0:02:480:02:50

the light winds and highs around 14 degrees or so.

0:02:500:02:52

So, this is how we look the middle of next week, then.

0:02:520:02:55

High pressure in charge, sitting out towards the Atlantic.

0:02:550:02:58

We're likely to see a north-westerly influence to the weather,

0:02:580:03:00

so still reasonably chilly.

0:03:000:03:02

With high pressure in the Atlantic

0:03:020:03:04

and low pressure becoming established towards the

0:03:040:03:06

east, that leaves us with this cold northerly wind flow late next week.

0:03:060:03:10

There could be some showers, wintry across parts of Scotland,

0:03:100:03:13

also some rain showers likely around the east coast of England, too.

0:03:130:03:17

Further south-west, in the shelter, some drier

0:03:170:03:19

and some brighter weather to be seen.

0:03:190:03:21

So, to end next week and next weekend, things are remaining cold,

0:03:210:03:24

further showers, mainly in the north and the east,

0:03:240:03:26

and a return to night-time frosts. Bye for now.
