The weekend's weather forecast was a bit of a dog's dinner,

0:00:030:00:06

so it's now time to take a look further ahead to see

0:00:060:00:08

if there's any drier weather on the horizon.

0:00:080:00:11

Not for Monday. As we start the week, we've got similar problems.

0:00:110:00:14

Morning mist and fog, dank, drizzly weather.

0:00:140:00:16

Hill fog as well underneath

0:00:160:00:18

these weather fronts in the north and south.

0:00:180:00:20

But, again, that's the moisture which will add into the system

0:00:200:00:24

the potential for more showers and some thunderstorms around.

0:00:240:00:27

So watch out for those into the evening rush hour.

0:00:270:00:30

The exception being the far north-east of Scotland,

0:00:300:00:32

just like this weekend, having some glorious sunshine.

0:00:320:00:36

The through Monday evening and overnight,

0:00:360:00:38

the storms and heavy showers will tend to ease down.

0:00:380:00:41

We'll still have lots of drizzly rain around.

0:00:410:00:43

That low pressure's coming close by.

0:00:430:00:45

So it's going to be another mild

0:00:450:00:47

and muggy night away from the far north of Scotland.

0:00:470:00:49

That's where the fresher air is.

0:00:490:00:51

But low pressure is going to be the culprit for all these showers

0:00:510:00:55

through the coming week.

0:00:550:00:56

It pretty much doesn't move, really.

0:00:560:00:58

There aren't many isobars around,

0:00:580:01:00

which means that the showers will be quite static, nothing to move them

0:01:000:01:03

away and that's why we'll have some mist in the morning as well.

0:01:030:01:07

So we go to Tuesday.

0:01:070:01:08

We've got the low pressure sat across the country and again,

0:01:080:01:11

where we've got some sunshine that will add the fuel

0:01:110:01:14

to some pretty big showers again.

0:01:140:01:16

We're starting to see temperatures dipping down a degree or two,

0:01:160:01:20

a little bit fresher up in the north and east and some rain,

0:01:200:01:23

potentially, as well for the north-east of Scotland

0:01:230:01:25

as these weather fronts swing further northwards.

0:01:250:01:27

But, again, by Wednesday it's sat across the country.

0:01:270:01:31

The only change, really, is that we start to drag in a bit

0:01:310:01:34

more of a northerly breeze across the far north of Scotland.

0:01:340:01:37

But also, that weather front bringing an end to the sunshine

0:01:370:01:40

for some parts of north-east Scotland and the northern isles.

0:01:400:01:42

But for the rest of us, the best of the sunshine will be

0:01:420:01:45

around the coast because most of the showers will form inland.

0:01:450:01:49

By Thursday, more of the northerly flow

0:01:490:01:51

will affect much of the country.

0:01:510:01:52

But the low pressure is still around.

0:01:520:01:54

So it is still a sunny spells and showers scenario

0:01:540:01:57

for most of us, as you can see.

0:01:570:01:58

It'll start to feel fresher, though, through Wednesday

0:01:580:02:01

and Thursday we'll notice something a little bit fresher, not so humid.

0:02:010:02:04

Even in the sunshine feeling pleasant

0:02:040:02:06

and the nights will be more refreshing.

0:02:060:02:08

Actually, around the coasts,

0:02:080:02:11

we may not see many showers and we might see some good

0:02:110:02:13

spells of sunshine because the temperatures are slightly lower.

0:02:130:02:17

But, unfortunately,

0:02:170:02:18

that doesn't apply to the North Sea coasts where we've had that onshore

0:02:180:02:21

breeze for days now, bringing in low cloud and drizzly weather.

0:02:210:02:24

So that situation is likely to remain.

0:02:240:02:27

Now, come Friday, still very showery in central and eastern areas,

0:02:270:02:30

but look out towards the west - the high pressure's starting to

0:02:300:02:33

move in, a ridge of high pressure coming in towards the weekend.

0:02:330:02:36

Temperatures are a little low. It's already a little bit fresher

0:02:360:02:38

because of the north wind, by that stage.

0:02:380:02:40

But for most of us,

0:02:400:02:42

at least one day this coming weekend will be fine and dry, we think.

0:02:420:02:47

That's because we've got a ridge of high pressure moving in.

0:02:470:02:50

So, as we move into the new week. Let's go back to Monday, we've got

0:02:500:02:53

the low pressure which only slowly eases away.

0:02:530:02:56

The northerly wind comes in. For the weekend, briefly high pressure.

0:02:560:03:00

So certainly eastern areas having possibly Sunday better,

0:03:000:03:04

western areas possibly Saturday because it's not long after,

0:03:040:03:08

through Sunday, that we start to see the next areas of low pressure.

0:03:080:03:11

Mobility starting again with those low pressures coming in off

0:03:110:03:15

the Atlantic to bring more unsettled weather beyond next weekend.

0:03:150:03:18

But for the coming week,

0:03:180:03:20

it looks as if we'll be plagued by heavy showers again.

0:03:200:03:22

We'll put the detail on day to day.

0:03:220:03:24

It will start to feel fresher, though, and then there'll be

0:03:240:03:26

some drier weather, we think, towards the weekend.
