a very good reason why Rizzle Kicks are doing this tonight, so let's

take a look at a film about a remarkable little girl whose life

has been transformed. Thanks to your generosity.

Good girl. Daisy is amazing. She's sunshine. At four-years-old, this

little girl has faced more challenges than most of us would

experience in a lifetime. Daisy has Down's syndrome and was born with a

hole in her heart. She also has an unstable spine. This means she has

to wear a protective collar 24 hours a day. She is vulnerable being

knocked over, that could be very serious. She is very fragile. Even

with the collar on, we live in terror, really, of what could

happen. Added to this, Daisy's speech is limited. Her sister can

understand her, but other children find it difficult. With all these

problems, ordinary playgroups are out of the question. She desperately

wants to interact with everybody, but gets frustrated by the fact that

she can't always do it. She can't make herself understood. Thanks to

your help, she has somewhere to go where she is understood. Every week,

she comes here to Speech Sign and Song. A music group for children

with communication difficulties, supported by Children In Need.

Hello, Daisy. Good singing! And good signing. It is perfect for Daisy. It

is time for listening. A place where she feels safe and can learn at her

own pace. It is all very interactive. The children are

expected to do lots and they do purely because they think they are

there to have fun. They don't realise they are learning. She is

more confident. She is more outgoing. She loves it. It is just

helped her develop as a child in a way that she needs to to equip her

for school. She has changed massively. She's overcome such a lot

and she is learning to achieve such a lot against all the odds. Speech

will also be performing the official Children In Need single How Long

Will I Love You? On tomorrow's appeal show which starts on BBC One

at 7.30pm. Can you get me in? It is unlikely. Mr Gary Barlow has

arranged tonight, which is no mean feat. What he didn't realise, until

recently, is just how urgently your donations are needed. However, that

all changed two weeks' ago when he went to visit a children's hospice

in Coventry called Zoe's Place. Zoe's Place is one of 15 children's

hospices around the UK that is supported by Children In Need. They

care for very young children with life-limiting conditions. Good

morning, everyone. This is Jamie. Jamie. I like these shoes! I think

my little four-year-old would like these. Jamie comes here, she gets to

mix with all the other children. We know she is in excellent hands. You

can bring her here and not worry about her? Absolutely. It is a very

special place. This is Alex. Alex. Hey there. It is nice to be able to

come here and know that he is going to be safe and well looked after and

they care for him just as much as we do. What we would do without them, I

don't know. As you can see, he is a bit of a charmer, especially with

blond ladies. Is that right? Oh yes. Great. He says, "I'm Gary Barlow!"

No! You are Charlie. He was nine weeks old when he discovered he had

no immune system. They said he would live six to 12 months. He had to

live in hospital for nearly two years. For him having all those

years without meeting other children, to come here must be

amazing? Yeah. They are so loving and caring. He is so happy every

time he comes. It gives our family a chance to be a family. Can I do some

sign? It's an owl! How much does a place like this

need? The majority of it is purely through donations. Without that

funding, families would have nowhere to go. How often is it open? Four

days a week. That is getting a bit less and less. Is it? It is

diminishing already? Yes. The idea of somewhere like this closing

cannot happen. I can't, no. It can't. I have to be honest, I wasn't

looking forward to today that much. It's a hospice, I think it just

conjures up these ideas of it being a place with no hope and I have

experienced a total opposite. I think the children that we have met

are inspirational. The parents are fighters. They are people who are

getting on with life. They genuinely lean on this place. I look at

somewhere like this and I'm shocked in a way to find out how heavily

they rely on donations and so it is up to us, it is up to you out there

to just be as generous as you can, you know, when you see these faces,

it makes it real, it really does. We can help. Gary couldn't have put it

are all here for a purpose, to raise money for Children In Need across

the UK. It is time to meet a little lad called Ajwad. He has had a tough

time in his young life so far. This is Ajwad. He's six-years-old.

His kidneys don't work properly. Three times every week for four

hours at a time he comes to Birmingham Children's Hospital, sits

in a chair and is hooked up to a machine. I have done the red one.

Which one next? Ajwad is on the waiting list for a transplant. But

for now, this is his life. Ajwad was two when he first started with us,

so he's not sort of known anything else, really. What are we going to

do? OK. Go to sleep. He sits in the same place on a machine that looks

very scary. It is a very alien environment. For Ajwad, there is a

time each week when he can forget he is a patient and be a child again.

Friday is his favourite day of the week. It is a special time of the

week for all the children. That is the day they know they will have a

great time. Singing Medicine is a project supported by Children In

Need, where trained tutors help children in hospital through music

and song. He is always the first one to start with. He will start singing

the songs before they are ready. # The horn on the bus... #

Singing helps in other ways, too. We can do some movement-based things

with them which is helpful in terms of their breathing, it can calm them

down. In a hospital environment, the children have a lot of decisions

made for them. In our songs, we do encourage them to make their own

decisions so they feel they have got control. Which part of his body is

he going to move? His head. It is more treatment, really. It is a

therapy. It gives them a chance to express themselves. We think it is a

fantastic resource. While Ajwad waits for his new kidney, projects

like this make such a difference to his time in hospital and it is your

donations that make this happen. The smile on his face. Brilliant. I love

that project. You see how small things can make a huge difference.

when you mention Children In Need to anybody, no matter which country

legendary artist. This young lady's not been on stage for over 25 years.

It is part of one of pop history's biggest bands ever. I can't believe

I'm so glad to be here tonight. Thank you, Gary. Thank you,

everyone. OK, ladies and gentlemen, it gives

me great pleasure to introduce on stage right now The Godfather of

BBC's Children In Need, please welcome Sir Terry Wogan.

Ladies and gentlemen, friends of Pudsey, thank you, thank you for

your wonderful support this evening, for Children In Need. I must thank

the artists. It's been absolutely spectacular show. It's been

wonderful. Thank you to everyone who has donated, or who is about to.

Your support will help change the lives of many of Britain's

disadvantaged and sick children, so thank you for that. In the film we

are about to show you, you will meet a remarkable family who have been

brave enough to tell us about a terrible time in their lives. Funded

by your money, they have managed to carry on. This is the book that

Molly wrote when she was poorly. It is called The Adventures of Ella

Rose. She dedicated it to me. Molly was beautiful. She was a wonderful,

wonderful little girl. With Molly, it was all about books. She loved

reading and writing. So she encouraged Isabella by reading to

her and that was their biggest thing, the connection that they had.

She would say to me, "In the morning, if you wake up early,

instead of going into mummy and daddy's room, wake me up and I will

read you some stories." She read me loads and loads of books. Thousands

and thousands. In March 2010, Molly was diagnosed

with a brain tumour. It was inoperable and incurable. The

hardest thing is knowing that every day is just so precious. We could

have lost her in a day, or two years. We didn't know. Just six

months after her diagnosis, Molly died. She was eight years old. In

their darkest hour, Molly's family were looked after by Haven House, a

children's hospice supported by Children In Need. As well as caring

for children with life-limiting illnesses, the hospice offers a

place for families in the days after their child has passed away. Molly

was laid to rest in the bereavement suite and her family were able to

stay with her for as long as they needed. Even now, when I think about

that week, it's the most invaluable time we could have had, just to be

with her and say goodbye to her. I remember going up to Haven House and

then mummy and daddy told me that Molly had died. And after, I thought

wow, she's going to wake up in a minute. But then mummy and daddy

said she is not going to wake up. It is a very, very special place. It

helped Isabella for definite. With all the pictures, when I look at

them, it gives me loads of memories. She was a lovely sister. Yeah. I

have got very close to everyone at Haven House. They know my new little

boy, Toby. They are part of our family. They always will be. That is

why my mum takes me to the local library. Children In Need supports

15 hospices, but would like to support more. Please, help us to do

that. That is the difference your donations can make. There are many

more families who are in similar situations and need your help. To
