Episode 11 Strictly - It Takes Two

Welcome to Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two. It is Monday and what a

topnotch weekend it was. It was time to check into the heartbreak hotel.

We don't want her to go. It is Vanessa and James. The second couple

to leave the competition. They were showered with compliments for their

fantastic foxtrot and Patrick and Anya are here tonight. We don't want

to be right. It is Craig Revel Horwood!

Hello and welcome. Just a casual saunter as it is Monday. This

weekend it was, of course, love week and it didn't disappoint. In case

you missed any of it, here are the Strictly headlines.

Good evening. Here is the news, thank you. Natalie and Artem bent

over backwards and forwards and even side ways. I say delivering the

dance of the night with a remarkable rumba. It brought a tear to Artem's

eye. Expressive, meaningful. Beautiful in

perpetual motion. Love. Love. Love. You are actually

welling up, aren't you? The Terminator is about to cry! The

swinging 60 inspired jive nearly had the judges swinging for each other!

You could have given it a bit... Oh come on, Craig, for God's sake. It

is only my opinion. The girl worked so hard.

APPLAUSE I say, they took the bull by the

horns and proved he would do anything to impress the judges, but

they trampled over his efforts. Nasty. The conviction, my love, I

nearly cried, but... LAUGHTER

It was like you were smelling some bad cheese.

You are not the judges' champion, but you are the peoples' champion.

Awesome. She might have been dancing to Abba, but Vanessa had her SOS

moment in rehearsals. We danced the first one and Vanessa

seemed to get a few of the steps wrong and had a costume malfunction.

My knickers were falling down and it was putting me off. I thought they

were going to be around my ankles. I said that was much better and she

said "Yes, I took my knickers off." Vanessa, you saucy minx. That would

have got the votes! Oh dear. Nice pants! If all that has

not give you enough of your Strictly fix took a look at our footage from

behind the scenes. Hello. Hello. Ola, take my bags

upstairs. It is love week. There will be a lot of love from the

judges. Ah, can you smell that? Is that love

in the air or is it just plain fear? It is love week. Oh, it is love

week. Everyone is all smiley. I am in a good mood. Eye' ready for

it. Let's hope it is not my last one! I have just seen Natalie and

Artem's unbelievable rumba. Talk about love week. I feel absolutely

over heating as a result! We need more aggression, really.

I have got to practise my sexy. Sexy didn't work last week. This week it

has got to be sexy. It is working now.

It is love week and I have to see how many kisses I can get before the

show goes live tonight. Artem kissed the boy!

You can't go oooh! Your wife is right next to me.

The things I have done to prepare tor today is roll out of bed into a

car. My hair and make-up and have a bacon buttie.

I never had so much hair! There is a little carnival happening with my

eye lids. I think I know why they called it

the quickstep. It is very quick and there is a lot of steps. It was a

hint. Mind you, there is no foxes in the foxtrot.

This week, love is all around. Stop pouting in front of the camera. Love

is in the air. Love is in the air. Love is in the air.

Come on. Come on. Here we are in the place they call the final touch-up

room. All preparing and ready for love.

Guys, nine minutes. I'm nervous. Nerves.

Live from the Strictly ballroom, it is a night of love songs on Strictly

Come Dancing. They laid it on the line with a very

fiery tango, but we had to kiss them goodbye. Please welcome Vanessa and

James to the show. APPLAUSE

I am so sorry that it had to be you. We had so many e-mails and messages

online in support of you. People loved you. Thank you very much, we

are very sad... What about me? He is upset.

They don't mind you. They love him and I love him and we are very, very

upset indeed. How was your last tango? Not good

enough. Not that good because we got kicked off. What do you think went

wrong, James? Did anything go wrong? What could you have done

differently? Nothing actually and that's something which I think

Vanessa can be very proud. Each week, she went out and she improved.

There were a little of hiccups, but you did a fantastic performance.

That's the first one, not the second one because she didn't put her leg

behind on the first one. Oh, we will never forget that. You

did say you were worried about the tango going into last week's show.

Did you feel there might be trouble ahead? I thought we were going to be

safe because I thought she did a brilliant job and your acting at the

beginning when you scared the girls... I did a growl as well.

We can see more of the growl. Listen to this. It is incredible.

You can't say she didn't go for it. She gave it her all. She worked as

hard as she could. You did me proud and you did yourself proud. The

waltz was the highlight, wasn't it? It was so con tiggious.

Vanessa has been working. It was very smooth and soft and contigious

means very close. Ates, " I love Vanessa. I thought

she was the best." Jemma says, " I was sad to see them go. Vanessa was

really improving." At the beginning I could barely stand still and I had

a good old bash at the tango. I thought, I felt like I was dancing.

Maybe I didn't look as if I was, but I felt like I was and actual ly, it

was a lovely feeling. I really did enjoy it.

We are going to miss each other. I am trying to be grown-up and not to

be too upset. You are furious though. I am not

furious, I am sad. You do about seven radio shows, did

you have enough time for training? Did you think you could have more

time for training? We did five hours a day. Eight hours coming in and you

gave me 100%. We didn't take long lunch breaks and things like that.

We worked hard, well we had to because you struggled to pick the

steps up and that's what the people maybe didn't see. I don't know. But

I think you did fantastic. We left on a high.

Stop it, Jordan. Vanessa the professional, taking you

on is James! APPLAUSE

James is an incredible teacher. He is extremely patient and he tried to

find the best way to teach me. It is almost there. Vanessa is definitely

not a natural dancer. I am like a London bus. She is a worker. You are

outside your comfort zone. Well done to you, Vanessa. There was too much

acting and not enough dancing. I'm squeezed into a girdle I can hardly

breathe it is so tight and I have to pretend not to be impressed when

James Jordan sticks his chest out! You can start at the bottom and work

our way up. That's our plan, isn't it? I think maybe the ballroom is

going to suit Vanessa more than the Latin. Oh yes, someone is improving!

A few seconds and it works, it is really, really lovely. I didn't

realise that dance could take you over quite so dramatically.

I thought it was heartfelt and poignant. You express the emotion,

the romance, a huge difference from last week. Well done. I want to get

myself into a place where the tango is my dance. I want to be tango. I

don't want to be tangoed. The couple I would like to save is

Julien and Janette. It has been a pleasure to teach you. You gave me

moments of pure bliss and I will never forget you and I can't thank

you enough. You did yourself proud and you did

me proud. I say that you did say a couple of

weeks ago how you would love to learn to dance with Ben, have you

achieved that? Can you show him a few moves now maybe for the wedding?

I think we can. I don't think we will venture into the realms of the

tango. Leave that behind. Who is your top

tip, Vanessa as you stand aside, who do you want to see go on and do

well? I love Abbey and I hope they go to the top, but Ola and Ashley

are phenomenal. I don't know why he got his chest out last week! You are

a classy girl. We loved having you on the show. Thank you for having

You look gorgeous. You look like you are going on a cruise in that

jacket. Oddly I am tomorrow, darling. Lucky you. Let's talk about

the weekend. Such high scores this weekend. It is only week three and

not just one or two couple doing well, but loads of couples doing

well. A strong line-up this year. It really is. There is chalk and cheese

in all of it. There is not many people sitting in the middle. We

have a lot of extraordinary dancing which is sensational to watch and it

has got me very excited. Indeed. Do you think that the public

made the right decision this weekend? Yes, we are always sad to

see people go and Vanessa was a card really on the show and she was

always quite verbal which I actually appreciated, you know... You loved

it really, didn't you? Of course, I do. Of course, I do. We will miss

her terribly, but we have to make a decision and at the end of the day,

that was our decision. Well, let's talk about Julien and Jeanette. Why

do you think they were saved? For energy and content and he really

went for it and I thought it was the hair! Better. That's all. That's all

it came down to? It was really, really close and I don't know who

any of the other judges are going to be, you know, voting for in that.

You really don't know? No. No. No. I really do not know.

Mark and Iveta. I picked up on his hands. Armography has made it to the

dictionary! Spatulaistic is next! When Ashley was doing it and he was

doing it like that, you said there was too much. You are so picky. You

can't be too girlie, but it was his wrists that were broken. You don't

want to break the wrists because you want to extend the line.

Fussy. Fussy. Fussy. That's the way it is. Susanna and Kevin. The

wonderful thing about Susanna she can do the high energy dances and

the jive. She has lovely flow and she is getting into the dancing, I

think, and she is beautiful to watch and I think it is because she loves

it so much and that just comes through and permeates the stage

which I love. I love the way you say permeates.

Abbey and Ali. She was heavy on the drunky sailor things. I wanted it to

be sharper and more frenetic actually.

OK, more frenetic? Yes. It is wonderful to see Fiona

increasing her scores every week. She really is improving? It is

wonderful to see Anton doing proper steps and he is master of waltz and

ballroom. It is just, I am loving seeing him dance again. I really,

really am. They are doing brilliantly. Let's go

to Dave and Karen and his paso doble. You said dreadful. You gave

him a two. You have never given him higher than a three. When are you

going to give Dave a break, Craig? Well, when he stops doing that,

number one, darling and stops treating the cape like a dish cloth!

I can understand the audience. The people at home must be loving it,

you know. It is his energy. He gives it his all? Absolutely, but I have

got to judge from a dance prospective and unfortunately it was

very stompy. It was very clumsy. His stance and his apels.

OK, we get the point. Thank you. I will shut him up. Thank you, Craig.

APPLAUSE We will talk about the others later

on. On Saturday night, Patrick and Anya served up a stylish foxtrot. I

will chat to them in a moment. Here is a reminder of their performance.

We have got panache and class to this. Very nice.

You messed it up a little bit. You have to drive through the dance. If

you make a mistake, it doesn't matter. Keep going. You need to

start thinking about adding swing and sway, but you are style. You

really are. Style with a smile. Lovely. Well done.

Not bad. Not bad. Not bad. You nailed it. There was a little

hiccup with the step, but in the end, you know, we got through it

really. So beautifully under stated. Please

welcome Patrick and Anya. Hello swanky pants. Congratulations.

Another corker. Last week you were saying you were finding the foxtrot

really difficult. It certainly didn't show out there on the floor.

Did you enjoy it I had a little hiccup, not during the rehearsals.

The rehearsals went really well, but, I don't know, I... What are you

talking about? What are you talking about? No. Bruno did pick up on a

little twist of feet. Did you see what happened? I didn't feel it when

I was dancing. I had no idea. I remember coming off from the dance

floor and it was like what happened? I had no idea what they were talking

about. You see I knew. Don't say! Yes, I saw something was

going on. I think it is the panic in the eyes. It is like help me. Sound

scores, Anya. How pleased are you with your boy? He is keeping the

scores up? We are consistent. He got a seven in a jive at least we are

going to get him back or more. Hopefully more.

She wants the scores to go up. Are you Strictly's Mr Style? The judges

are obsessed with your style on Saturday. They love you. Well, I

don't know, in the end I accept what they say basically. They know

dancing. If they feel I have got a little bit of style, great.

Is he a gentleman in the training room, Anya? I am imagining he is?

Absolutely. A lot of fun. Also we have a really great time. He comes

in focussed. He has onetectedic schedule. It is a bit tight

sometimes. Are you filming Casualty for 20

hours and you have four hours left? It is a bit tight.

You say you are Mr Style... I didn't say that! We watched you in the

training room and we noticed you are Mr Collapse!

Oh man. It is out. You need a crash mat

strapped to your back at all times. This week, for you, Patrick, it is

the cha-cha-cha. You like so far? So far we have had a little taste and

yeah, hopefully. It should suit. It is going to be very exciting. I'm

super excited. It is back-to-back, two weeks

back-to-back we had a Bond dance. Ian Waite noticed that you are good

out there on your own dancing. Is this showing in training? He has got

some groove and some rhythm so we just need to channel it.

Latin hips. Would you mind giving us the demonstration? No. No. No.

APPLAUSE Come on, love. Come on.

APPLAUSE I knew it! I knew it! I know it is

only Monday, ladies and gentlemen. This could be a good week. I mean do

you like the Latin, Patrick? Do you like the Latin a freer style? Yeah.

Yeah. The ridged stuff I find most difficult is holding the frame and

getting the core right, but all the other stuff that you can flow and

for me, I would like to get into that more.

Carry that on and you will be fine. You get my vote! It is Patrick and

Anya. We teased you with a former Strictly

celebrity. It is time to find out if you guessed who it was correctly.

Rav Wilding. Well done to you eagle eyed people.

That was Rav Wilding. It is time to talk about the rest of the weekend's

dances. Please welcome back Craig Revel Horwood.

APPLAUSE Let's talk about Ashley and Ola.

Adorable Ashley. He was awesome. You said his hips were filth and you

loved it. What else did he do right? Well, I really like his energy. I

like the fact that he through himself into this dance. He had no

inhibition. And that's what made it great. I think he is doing really,

reallying, really well. He was. It made you want to get up

and join in? Absolutely. I liked the slow start and it

speeded up. Patrick and Anya, you were saying he needed to add more

swing and sway? Yeah, he needs more shaping to his top line really and

there was a little bit of gapping as well, but these are minor points

that he is going to be able to improve easily. And to be honest,

there really are two men in this competition and he is one of them.

Oh, he will be well chuffed with that. Let's talk about Ben and

Kristina. Ben's highest score to date, 28 and with a rumba? Well, the

man is there to support the lady and to show her off. He did some hips

which I was delighteded with -- delighted with and I can see in the

expression in his face and when he was coming over to the judges' desk,

I thought he knows that went rather well. I can only really encourage

that hip action, darling. Of course. I love it because you can

see it in the professionals, Kristina looked really happy with

him. Natalie and Artem, Natalie, goodness me, this girl can't lose.

You said, I love, love, love it. You only gave a nine. Why wasn't it a

ten? Well, it could have done with more hip action, but just on, you

know, her waltz really and that was the only thing and apparently there

was some ercation with her foot placement as well, dud I didn't see

it. -- but I didn't see it, but Len and

Bruno did. Deborah and Robin. My heart danced

watching her. How well did she perform it? Well, I thought she

performed it very well actually and she is very watchable, you know. And

another person that is actually loving it and when you love dance

that much, you will dance it so much better. This Charleston piece is

difficult because if you go off on the wrong foot, you will be smashing

legs and it is difficult. She got that right? But she needs to

lift up more and her head further left.

But she can take that on board. Sophie and Brendan, their samba. Not

as high as the Charleston, but still brilliant. You only gave her a

seven. What did you want to see? Well, she looked at times a little

awkward if I am to be honest, but she is attempting some really

difficult stuff and I went on, well I thought she could do with a little

bit more double bounce action. That was the only thing I thought was

missing and sometimes that looked laboured rather than smooth.

I am sat in the background going like this. That's obviously a double

bounce. I will demonstrate one's hip. Quickly, let's talk about

Rachel and Pasha. What you said last week, she was like a slug in salt.

This week, you said a bit plonky? Yes, when I say plonky, I mean it

means flat footed and you are landing too heavily. I love her. She

is a delight actually. And is she improving? She is and

that's what is great. You really, in the dance like that, you really have

to light your face up because that's where the focus is. As much as it is

in the body, you have got to get your face in gear!
