Coming up, Melvin and Janette will be giving us another

:00:53.:01:04.

cha-cha-chart rundown, and this time it's a faceography

:01:05.:01:08.

special, so you can expect trout pouts galore!

:01:09.:01:13.

Plus, we'll be playing the hits when we reveal this weekend's music

:01:14.:01:16.

But first, let's meet tonight's guests.

:01:17.:01:19.

They survived their first dance off, it's Claudia and AJ!

:01:20.:01:25.

And they're joined by the grand dame of dance, Karen Hardy!

:01:26.:01:32.

But don't get too comfortable, get yourself over here because first

:01:33.:01:36.

up tonight, it's Choreography Corner!

:01:37.:01:53.

Karen Hardy, everyone! CHEERING You are the Queen! What an

:01:54.:02:04.

incredible weekend in the Tower Ballroom. Didn't they do us proud? I

:02:05.:02:11.

loved it! It is like coming round the last bend of the 800 metres and

:02:12.:02:16.

you can see the finishing line and I felt the professionals running

:02:17.:02:21.

towards it with great choreography, enthusiasm and teamwork. The

:02:22.:02:24.

celebrities keeping up. Everything they asked, they kept up with them

:02:25.:02:29.

and I absolutely loved the show. I loved the opening number, it got

:02:30.:02:35.

better and better and made me cry Axel we will start with Claudia

:02:36.:02:39.

. They were in the dance off and got nines across the board, there was

:02:40.:02:45.

one little mistake. Nothing gets past you! I know. Something like a

:02:46.:02:54.

jive is fast and flaky and maybe people at home did not see it but we

:02:55.:02:58.

must point it out because as we go through the competition... Amazing

:02:59.:03:03.

bit of work, she opened the show, a lot of pressure on. She overturns

:03:04.:03:09.

and misses the step and cat is the wrong hand. It goes on. This is what

:03:10.:03:16.

I love, she pulls it back. She brings it back to life. When she got

:03:17.:03:23.

in that dance off, there was that Olympic great. I've got to do it! I

:03:24.:03:30.

could feel all of her train is saying to her to deliver. Musically

:03:31.:03:35.

she has got to be careful. She lost her rhythm, but still a little

:03:36.:03:42.

whippersnapper and a lot of talent. Well done to her. Louise and Kevin,

:03:43.:03:48.

Kevin always impressive with the paso. But Louise, she was

:03:49.:03:56.

phenomenal. Craig was loving the flamenco stuff. She had to bring it

:03:57.:04:00.

with this. It was everything I have wanted. I could pick up on the

:04:01.:04:08.

flamenco part. The music is building, the relationship with the

:04:09.:04:11.

dancers in the background, her energy, still a little smile but she

:04:12.:04:16.

is using her skirt. And the conviction of what she's doing. The

:04:17.:04:20.

layering we are seeing. I talk about this, it is like painting a Monet,

:04:21.:04:29.

how can it be difficult? Field and flowers and bridge! It is the skill

:04:30.:04:32.

behind it and be hidden messages and the layering in that was incredible.

:04:33.:04:42.

And compared to a Monet! Ore and Joanne, great showmanship, he just

:04:43.:04:47.

owned the floor. And the longest lasting fleckerl ever seen! How long

:04:48.:04:53.

is too long with a fleckerl or can they not be long enough? This is a

:04:54.:04:58.

competition and I love it! If we are in an open competition and you go

:04:59.:05:02.

into the centre and your rival comes in with you, you are going around

:05:03.:05:06.

and you don't want to go out before they do so you hold that fleckerl.

:05:07.:05:10.

It was the same gamble, telling us it is a competition, not my normal

:05:11.:05:15.

amount, we are going to stay longer and longer. What we see now, it was

:05:16.:05:21.

a gamble, we have slowed it down and at the expense of the hold, the

:05:22.:05:26.

body, the neck, everything. However, to take the gamble is now is what

:05:27.:05:31.

this is all about. You don't want to be the nice guys sitting at home. It

:05:32.:05:36.

gives enthusiasm and energy and that rush to get to the finishing line. I

:05:37.:05:40.

loved it and thought it was brilliant. Well done to them. Judge

:05:41.:05:47.

Rinder and Oxon and their spicy salsa! The term booty was branded by

:05:48.:05:56.

the judges! -- Oksana. Where does it rank on the booty chart? It has to

:05:57.:06:04.

be ten! I picked up on it. So much to pick up on this number will stop

:06:05.:06:09.

that the freedom and flexibility, I have seen celebrities in the past,

:06:10.:06:18.

look at that! This is our serious Judge them and he is out there

:06:19.:06:25.

shaking his booty. From that foxtrot that was disciplined last week, when

:06:26.:06:28.

he does a Latin dance I worry he lets his discipline go out of the

:06:29.:06:32.

window, there were a couple of little errors. I think he had

:06:33.:06:34.

another next week, he has to controlled the technique with his

:06:35.:06:40.

freedom of body movement and he will do well. Perfect. Next up, the great

:06:41.:06:52.

Balls of fire! Ed and Katya, the Bruno's surprised he said most of it

:06:53.:06:56.

look like a jive but I thought it was for a nominal. He brought

:06:57.:07:00.

entertainment to the Tower Ballroom, he is on a mission, so committed.

:07:01.:07:05.

Week after week. What I spotted this week, I'm not sure if he is getting

:07:06.:07:09.

tired or if Katya is upping the choreography. He has that energy,

:07:10.:07:16.

the eyes have gone down and he looks a little bit nervous. What is

:07:17.:07:22.

happening? But this is our Ed Balls! I'm back! This is what we know and

:07:23.:07:29.

love this guy for, he brings us entertainment. Be careful, keep your

:07:30.:07:34.

energy up all the way through the competition. I need to lie down even

:07:35.:07:43.

watching! And Danny and Oti, the first 40 of the series, they have

:07:44.:07:47.

had it coming. A round of applause. Len said it was almost choreography

:07:48.:07:52.

overload there was so much in it. Have you ever seen so much in a

:07:53.:07:58.

Strictly Thorsten? And in such a positive way, it was incredible. --

:07:59.:08:07.

in a Strictly Charleston. I would say that when Danny came into the

:08:08.:08:11.

competition his technical level was already quite high will stop you

:08:12.:08:16.

could argue it is in -- if his improvement was as big as the others

:08:17.:08:20.

but look at this. He does not stop, they have said, we are going to lift

:08:21.:08:26.

it again. He is equal to the other dancers on the floor, keeping up

:08:27.:08:32.

with the choreography, sing debating his actions and using his arms.

:08:33.:08:37.

Emotion and energy in what he is doing, absolutely incredible and

:08:38.:08:40.

worthy of the tens. Well done indeed. We have not had a demo? I

:08:41.:08:49.

will tell you what we will do... I was getting carried away! What we're

:08:50.:08:55.

seeing now is what I'm talking about which is the layering effect. It is

:08:56.:08:58.

the secret 11 is going on behind. You need to move the rubbish bin in

:08:59.:09:04.

the kitchen -- the secret elements. It is tapped, step, tap, step. If we

:09:05.:09:15.

lay it and go tapped, low, tap, middle, tap, high and then we add

:09:16.:09:25.

the arms! APPLAUSE It is all about the layering and the

:09:26.:09:31.

secret messages. Fantastic! Somebody has taken something out in the

:09:32.:09:36.

kitchen! Karen Hardy, everybody! APPLAUSE

:09:37.:09:39.

Now, you'll have heard the term 'Faceography' bandied around a lot

:09:40.:09:42.

this series but it's been part of the Strictly make-up for years.

:09:43.:09:45.

Here to give us a rundown of the greatest facial choreography

:09:46.:09:47.

ever seen on the box, it's Strictly FM's leading DJs,

:09:48.:09:50.

Good evening listeners, we're coming to you live from the archives and we

:09:51.:10:05.

are here with the Katich up show. Today we are counting down our top

:10:06.:10:11.

five faceography. That kick things off. Before we start, what is

:10:12.:10:17.

faceography? It is when you use your face to really tell the story, of

:10:18.:10:21.

the what makes a dance go from success to show stopper. At number

:10:22.:10:32.

five is Mark in series 11. It was his salsa which first brought his

:10:33.:10:37.

facial capabilities to the attention of the judges. You make me feel

:10:38.:10:39.

good! It was the chapter chart in week

:10:40.:10:51.

four that earned him his place -- cha-cha-cha.

:10:52.:10:57.

In fourth place is Matt Bacon who brought the swinging 60s with his

:10:58.:11:08.

Maestro Austin Powers. But only did he kick off with a backflip but he

:11:09.:11:13.

gave us one of the most memorable faces completely with dog

:11:14.:11:19.

impression. He is the only dancer in strictly macro history to receive a

:11:20.:11:22.

dog bark! Let's move on. At number three is

:11:23.:11:43.

everyone's favourite chef Ainsley in series 13. His face, more

:11:44.:11:50.

specifically his eyebrow, came to our attention in his salsa. It was

:11:51.:11:57.

not just the hips, it was the face. Look who it is at number two just

:11:58.:12:02.

missing out on the top spot, it is Jake Wood. And his dance partner...

:12:03.:12:09.

Jake and me! OES! Jake totally smashed it in the salsa

:12:10.:12:24.

in series 12. It was not just his face but his hip action with next

:12:25.:12:29.

level. The get faceography, it was all about hipography. That hip

:12:30.:12:37.

action could crack coconuts! So many happy memories. He is definitely my

:12:38.:12:43.

favourite partner. Calls Jake, of course. And at number one, it is

:12:44.:12:52.

Susanna Reid and her partner Kevin Clifton. First there was her jive.

:12:53.:13:04.

And then came the Charleston. You use your face without question and

:13:05.:13:11.

it is fantastic. However it was her salsa in week 12 that cemented her

:13:12.:13:19.

position as the Queen of expression. Susanna and Kevin may have been

:13:20.:13:23.

runners up but they are number one in our faceography chart. I think we

:13:24.:13:29.

know which is the bigger achievement! That is all we have

:13:30.:13:31.

time for. Keep dancing! I love them, I think they need their

:13:32.:13:44.

own spin off spin off. Put it in your diaries,

:13:45.:13:47.

darling, because... Yes, if you've a question

:13:48.:13:50.

for Strictly's answer to Scrooge, then email it

:13:51.:13:54.

to [email protected] or tweet Only the best questions

:13:55.:13:57.

will make the grade! But now, if you want to know

:13:58.:14:02.

what the kids are listening to these days, you've come

:14:03.:14:05.

to the wrong place! Now, we are going to be

:14:06.:14:07.

revealing a whopping 50% And that's because there

:14:08.:14:24.

are only six couples left. So, what's first on

:14:25.:14:29.

the playlist tonight. MUSIC: Cry Me A River

:14:30.:14:33.

by Justin Timberlake. It's Justin Timberlake's 2003

:14:34.:14:36.

hit, Cry Me A River. Arguably one of the greatest

:14:37.:14:40.

break-up songs of all time, it was inspired by JT's own split

:14:41.:14:45.

with childhood sweetheart Britney And just how many teardrops would it

:14:46.:14:48.

take to cry a river? Well, according to our "very

:14:49.:14:56.

loose" calculations, to fill the River Thames -

:14:57.:15:06.

it would take four hunderd and five thousand, eight hundred

:15:07.:15:10.

and ten billion teardrops! Or what Ore calls "just your

:15:11.:15:11.

average Saturday night." So who will be dancing

:15:12.:15:15.

to this watery tune? They'll be dancing

:15:16.:15:21.

an Argentine Tango to this. I cannot wait it see what they think

:15:22.:15:36.

about that later on in the show. Let's see what is next.

:15:37.:15:39.

Hello, darling, shall I lean on you? Originally made famous by Bill

:15:40.:15:59.

Withers, who didn't record his first song until he was 32. A late

:16:00.:16:06.

bloomer. This is really making me feel nice. A cuddle from, Aunty

:16:07.:16:13.

Karen. Eye' sleeping. You have a nap, you have so many children.

:16:14.:16:16.

He wrote this song when he moved to LA from Slab Fork, West Virginia

:16:17.:16:19.

and found himself missing the tightknit community

:16:20.:16:21.

Nothing like an old friend is there, Karen?

:16:22.:16:23.

Less of the old, obviously. Sorry, love, sorry. I'm older than you.

:16:24.:16:31.

But who will be hoping for plenty of support when they dance

:16:32.:16:33.

They'll be dancing the Rumba to this.

:16:34.:16:42.

MUSIC: I Can't Get No Satisfaction by the Rolling Stones.

:16:43.:16:52.

It's the song that shot the Rolling Stones to fame,

:16:53.:16:55.

Once branded "the group that parents love to hate",

:16:56.:17:00.

the rockers have outlasted all their 1960s' contemporaries -

:17:01.:17:05.

in fact, the combined age of the current members is 289!

:17:06.:17:08.

That's very good. Claudia is like - who is Mick Jagger.

:17:09.:17:19.

But who will be aiming to satisfy us with their moves

:17:20.:17:21.

Ed Balls and the Rolling Stones: sure to be a match made in heaven.

:17:22.:17:39.

They will be dancing a tango. Gather, gather, let's stand together

:17:40.:17:46.

and cuddle. Are you all right down there, love?

:17:47.:17:48.

If you want to find out what songs the rest of our couples will be

:17:49.:17:52.

dancing to this weekend, you can head to the Strictly

:17:53.:17:54.

What do you mean we look ridiculous. It's me, it's me, isn't it? .

:17:55.:18:00.

Now, I'd love to tell you I woke up looking like

:18:01.:18:03.

been getting top tips from the Glam Squad for years.

:18:04.:18:07.

Here's Lisa Armstrong's guide to mastering the art of make up.

:18:08.:18:10.

I love you, my little Jaggers. I'm the hair and make-up designer for

:18:11.:18:19.

Strictly Come Dancing. Today I will share with you some of the secrets

:18:20.:18:23.

I've gained in the past nine years of me working on the show. My first

:18:24.:18:28.

top tip when creating a Strictly Come Dancing make-up. Is always

:18:29.:18:31.

start with the eyes. Basically make sure that none of the droppers from

:18:32.:18:37.

the eye make-up falls on to the skin and ruins a perfect base. We use an

:18:38.:18:42.

eye primer, to set the eye shadow and make sure it doesn't move

:18:43.:18:47.

anywhere. So, an essential staple product for a Strictly Come Dancing

:18:48.:18:51.

make-up look is the eye liner. You take a thin brush, start in the

:18:52.:18:59.

middle of the eye and lightly stroke the brush along the lash line. See

:19:00.:19:05.

you can elongate that tip and make a sharp end. A top tip is make a

:19:06.:19:14.

cuetip, wrap it into a make-up wipe and perfect the flick. Let's face

:19:15.:19:19.

it, you cannot be on Strictly Come Dancing without wearing a false

:19:20.:19:23.

eyelash. I'm going to show you may to make sure it fits properly. We

:19:24.:19:27.

take the eyelash and lay it across the lash line of the eye. It is not

:19:28.:19:33.

glued on but we can see we have a nice shape running through the eye

:19:34.:19:36.

and into that beautiful eyeliner. A top tip also is to make sure the

:19:37.:19:41.

glue is a bit tacky before applying. Take the lash on a downward angle

:19:42.:19:46.

and just pop in the middle of the eye, bang. Make sure you are right

:19:47.:19:51.

in the lashline and make sure it is nicely fitted all the way along.

:19:52.:19:56.

Give it a couple of seconds and then you open the eye and - the perfect

:19:57.:20:00.

lash. One question I get asked frequently is how to confor and what

:20:01.:20:15.

is conforing. -- contour. . We use a dark shade and go underneath the

:20:16.:20:18.

cheekbone to give you a beautiful structure. You can go below the

:20:19.:20:23.

jawline to create more of a sharp jawline affect. You don't need to do

:20:24.:20:29.

this, you have a great jawline. You take the highlighter with a soft

:20:30.:20:34.

brush and go on the top of the cheekbone. Over the top and we can

:20:35.:20:38.

do this down the T-zone to brighten up the face. A little bit here.

:20:39.:20:44.

Nicely blended, and a bit here. Then you would use your blusher and that

:20:45.:20:48.

sits here to make a really beautiful cheek. So my last top tip is to show

:20:49.:20:54.

you how to create the perfect Bullet-proof red lip. To make sure

:20:55.:21:00.

your lip pencil is nice and sharpened, and do nice thick strokes

:21:01.:21:02.

your lip pencil is nice and sharpened, and do nice thick strokes

:21:03.:21:04.

along the line. Making sure you go into the inner corner of the mouth

:21:05.:21:08.

and making sure you never, ever go over the line. Then you take your

:21:09.:21:13.

lipstick and then blend along into the lip line.

:21:14.:21:16.

And there you go. Thank you to the ever gorgeous,

:21:17.:21:24.

Chloe and Lisa. Hmm, this could take a while -

:21:25.:21:31.

you get the idea... # Oh Mickey what a pithy you don't

:21:32.:21:44.

understand... ...# Full on, brisk, sharp. The kicks and

:21:45.:21:49.

flicks were time. I really and truly loved it. It showed off all your

:21:50.:21:52.

strengths. It was dynamic throughout. One tiny mistake, but

:21:53.:22:00.

still a spectacular performance. Claudia and AJ are here everyone.

:22:01.:22:07.

Well done to the two of you. I have to say when Strictly comes to down

:22:08.:22:11.

in Blackpool, it is like the biggest night of the year and you had to go

:22:12.:22:15.

out there, first for everybody. Was it scary? It was really scary. I

:22:16.:22:20.

said to mayself - go out there, enjoy it, get the party started. We

:22:21.:22:24.

did that. It is such an energetic song, I really enjoyed it. You were

:22:25.:22:27.

absolutely splendid. It was ridiculous. I had to say, the jive

:22:28.:22:35.

really did blow the judges' minds. So much so Craig said he would have

:22:36.:22:40.

given it a 10, had it not been for the mistake.

:22:41.:22:41.

So much so Craig said he would have given it a 10, had it not been for

:22:42.:22:43.

the mistake. That's more cruel to hear that. What was the mistake? It

:22:44.:22:48.

was after we do this... That bit. What is it called? Just a Shaab say.

:22:49.:22:58.

-- a shashsay. Beforehand I nailed it every time.

:22:59.:23:01.

And it was weird when I wept out there for some reason I blanked out

:23:02.:23:06.

and I was like - oh, no, what is going on, and because the start was

:23:07.:23:09.

knees up and jumpy, I started jumping up a and down, I thought -

:23:10.:23:15.

that will do. You were a true professional. You continued. Nobody

:23:16.:23:19.

would have noticed at home. Once you see t you suddenly see you getting

:23:20.:23:23.

it back. What do you do when something happens, it must happens

:23:24.:23:27.

to pros? It happens to the best of us. Happened to me in the past. Go

:23:28.:23:32.

with the flow as Claudia said, a couple of kicks, bounce a couple of

:23:33.:23:36.

times, flick it back up and nobody noticed. Bruno was saying how you

:23:37.:23:42.

took the lead with all the other pro dancers up there with you. How was

:23:43.:23:47.

it to dance with others, not just AJ? It was mazing, it wasn't just us

:23:48.:23:52.

two alone. They worked so hard, we only had an hour with them. We

:23:53.:23:56.

literally chucked them in, they learned it so quickly. It was so

:23:57.:24:03.

cool. I had my poscy with me, come on girls, let's go -- posse. They

:24:04.:24:08.

were amazing. The thing is you ended up in the middle of the leaderboard

:24:09.:24:13.

and we have seen, it was a dangerous place to be. Were you worried? I was

:24:14.:24:16.

scared. It was in the middle. Anybody could go and being in the

:24:17.:24:22.

middle people think they were safe. Four nines, any normal week you

:24:23.:24:25.

would be top but the standard was so hard. For us, we were a bit scared.

:24:26.:24:29.

We practised it a lot afterwards. That mistake was not going to happen

:24:30.:24:34.

again if we were in the dance-off and finding out we were in the

:24:35.:24:37.

dance-off we were a bit gutted. When Tess said, my little girl Nellie who

:24:38.:24:44.

loves you said "Great we get to see it again." We loved T it must be

:24:45.:24:51.

quite nice to be able to do it again, without a mistake, I know it

:24:52.:24:55.

is a tricky situation but it is a blessing? I secretly wanted to do it

:24:56.:24:59.

again because I did make that mistake, I really wanted to just

:25:00.:25:03.

nail T everyone was so happy after their performance because they did

:25:04.:25:06.

the best they could. I still felt I was missing something because I

:25:07.:25:09.

didn't do that step right. I thought if I got to do it again I was going

:25:10.:25:14.

to go out and try my best. I did nail T I was so happy. Well done.

:25:15.:25:18.

Everyone was there with you. It was a tough situation, and it is never

:25:19.:25:23.

easy but to go up against another Olympian. It must have been quite

:25:24.:25:26.

fierce out there. Well, he's very competitive. I'm very competitive

:25:27.:25:30.

but before I wept out I gave him a hug. I almost like cried because

:25:31.:25:33.

going against him, it was really, really hard. Obviously I was never

:25:34.:25:38.

in that situation before, it was the first time being in the dance-off.

:25:39.:25:42.

Either of us was going to go home. I was looking at him like - I don't

:25:43.:25:46.

want you to go home. It was horrible because we are so close but I have

:25:47.:25:52.

more of a friendship with him. He is such a lovely person and it really

:25:53.:25:57.

did break my heart. Oh, but you got to stay. I tell you what broke my

:25:58.:26:02.

heart was seeing your mum and dad in the audience. Your mum was crying.

:26:03.:26:07.

All mums and dads - I think I would feel like that about my girl. Were

:26:08.:26:10.

they OK. They must have been so relieved and so proud? Yes, they are

:26:11.:26:14.

so proud and they said to me that I'm so much more happy and they

:26:15.:26:18.

said, "You always have a smile on your face going into training ""I'm

:26:19.:26:22.

in my element. I don't want to go home because I'm loving every moment

:26:23.:26:26.

in here. AJ your first dance-off. Were you scared? Before we went into

:26:27.:26:30.

dance-off went into full-on competition mode. We knew we were in

:26:31.:26:34.

there and were going to do it a million times and we got on it. I

:26:35.:26:41.

think it was the best you did T I know you were devastated, you felt

:26:42.:26:45.

you let us down which was not tru, you were amazing but to dance it

:26:46.:26:51.

again and nail it was amazing. Atmosphere was amazing. Now you get

:26:52.:26:55.

to dance again and like Karen said, keep the confidence. You are doing

:26:56.:27:01.

the Argentine tango to Cry Me A River. Can't wait. What can you tell

:27:02.:27:06.

me so far? The lifts are insane. I have to have a really strong core.

:27:07.:27:14.

Good for you, you are a gymnast. . And legs aKim bow, everything goes

:27:15.:27:20.

everywhere Some things are slow and some fast at win point I have my

:27:21.:27:25.

legs in the air and I have to do a slow motion, so I go fast and slow.

:27:26.:27:29.

It is really trying to nail everything. AJ is like - you need to

:27:30.:27:33.

focus and do really well in this dance. I absolutely love it. It is

:27:34.:27:37.

not easy. And also it is quite moody, quite a dance. Oh, I can do

:27:38.:27:44.

that. Go on, give us moody. That's my game face on, that's what

:27:45.:27:49.

happens. That was her dance-off face. One of the pros said to me, it

:27:50.:27:53.

was a smiley dance and I was stood there and had a game-face on and as

:27:54.:27:57.

soon as the music went on I was like... So definitely that will have

:27:58.:28:03.

worked. Also you have the cha-cha-challenge 24 year. All of

:28:04.:28:06.

you out on the floor at the same time. You are used to competitions

:28:07.:28:09.

when you are out on the floor. Love it. How do you get the judges to see

:28:10.:28:14.

you do something amazing and not watch another couple. We have to be

:28:15.:28:17.

confident. We have to practise hundreds of times and be awesome.

:28:18.:28:20.

Forget about everybody else on the floor. It is our floor, we will own

:28:21.:28:27.

it, forget about them. It is important what Karen said don't let

:28:28.:28:30.

being in the dance-off bring your confidence down. If anything we will

:28:31.:28:35.

work harder, doing everything in training to make sure it is the best

:28:36.:28:40.

dance we have done. I have never done an Argentine tango before, I'm

:28:41.:28:46.

so excited. So exciting. Have a lots of fun. Claudia and AJ.

:28:47.:28:51.
