Hello and welcome to It Takes Two. | 0:01:01 | 0:01:03

Hoorah. | 0:01:04 | 0:01:05
Later on in the show,
we'll be revealing which show-tunes | 0:01:05 | 0:01:07
our couples will be dancing
to when Strictly goes | 0:01:07 | 0:01:10
to the musicals. | 0:01:10 | 0:01:11
But first up, let's
meet tonight's guests. | 0:01:11 | 0:01:12
They fought the Dance-Off and won -
it's Alexandra and Gorka. | 0:01:12 | 0:01:16

Later on in the show,
we'll be revealing which show-tunes | 0:01:32 | 0:01:34
our couples will be dancing
to when Strictly goes | 0:01:34 | 0:01:36
to the musicals. | 0:01:36 | 0:01:37
But first up, let's
meet tonight's guests. | 0:01:37 | 0:01:39
They fought the Dance-Off and won -
it's Alexandra and Gorka. | 0:01:39 | 0:01:42
Back for another crack of the whip
in Choreography Corner, | 0:01:42 | 0:01:44
it's Strictly fave Erin Boag. | 0:01:44 | 0:01:45
Plus, Kevin Clifton is busy
preparing himself for one | 0:01:45 | 0:01:48
of the biggest challenges
of his professional career. | 0:01:48 | 0:01:49
There he is. | 0:01:49 | 0:01:50
But first up tonight,
they say no one puts | 0:01:50 | 0:01:53
Erin Boag in the corner. | 0:01:53 | 0:01:54
Except of course, if it's
Choreography Corner! | 0:01:54 | 0:02:04
Give it up for Erin. A lively
audience. So much to catch up on. | 0:02:07 | 0:02:14
Joe and Katya, their quickstep, top
of the leaderboard. Shirley was | 0:02:14 | 0:02:22
impressed with the sensitivity of
touch Ballroom dancing is about two | 0:02:22 | 0:02:27
bodies dancing together in harmony.
We have to line up, their swing and | 0:02:27 | 0:02:36
sway but most importantly the
timing. They covered a vast amount | 0:02:36 | 0:02:39
of floor which was wonderful. Here
you are, he has the sachet. This is | 0:02:39 | 0:02:44
a scatter sachet. Look how together
they are. They are travelling across | 0:02:44 | 0:02:49
the floor, 100 miles per hour. That
is wonderful -- sashay. | 0:02:49 | 0:03:03
Debbie and Giovanni's Argentine
tango, Bruno compared flexy McGee as | 0:03:03 | 0:03:09
a paint brush in the hand of an
artist. Was it masterful for you? | 0:03:09 | 0:03:13
Exquisite. She has a style, grace
and charisma and class when she | 0:03:13 | 0:03:18
dances. But they did this
choreography, look at her legs, | 0:03:18 | 0:03:23
those are her greatest assets. They
are just sensational. Flexibility, | 0:03:23 | 0:03:27
bendy and very strong. So, they
started off with it. Look at that | 0:03:27 | 0:03:32
extension through her leg. She does
this thing where she goes up - look | 0:03:32 | 0:03:36
at, that bang, stop. Look at the
extension right through the arch of | 0:03:36 | 0:03:40
her foot to the top. When she goes
back down again, carry on, bang, | 0:03:40 | 0:03:44
look at the line. She has the best
legs in the business. Wow. That is a | 0:03:44 | 0:03:49
serious compliment. Gemma and
Aljaz's bedroom samba. We love these | 0:03:49 | 0:03:55
two. Craig thought it exposed
Gemma's weaknesses. What did you | 0:03:55 | 0:04:00
think? I think it was harsh. A great
samba. Lot of content. Voltas, samba | 0:04:00 | 0:04:14
roles, volta Bogos. But look, at her
hand. You can't do that in front of | 0:04:14 | 0:04:21
the judges. Look at Aljaz's hands,
out to the fingertips but just here | 0:04:21 | 0:04:25
she does this. Next week she has
quickstep, back in hold, we know | 0:04:25 | 0:04:29
what happened in her American
smooth. Sensational. She's a bubbly | 0:04:29 | 0:04:32
character and full of fun. I think
the quickstep will suit her. | 0:04:32 | 0:04:38
Alexandra and Gorka's rumba which
saw them in the first dance off of | 0:04:38 | 0:04:41
the series, a shocker, Craig and
Bruno said they would've liked to | 0:04:41 | 0:04:44
have seen more extended lines from
Alexandra. How important is that in | 0:04:44 | 0:04:48
a rumba? Not just in a rumba but
every dance you do. Shirley said a | 0:04:48 | 0:04:53
bit businessy. Darcey said it -- a
bit busy, Darcey said it looked | 0:04:53 | 0:05:00
emotion and Craig and Bruno said
more emotion. She has set the | 0:05:00 | 0:05:04
standard high. But if they see
something they don't like, it is a | 0:05:04 | 0:05:09
bit like nit-picking here, they are
saying - maybe it could be that, a | 0:05:09 | 0:05:12
bit of this and that. She's
wonderful and Gorka always | 0:05:12 | 0:05:15
choreographs to the best of her
ability. It is wonderful. She just | 0:05:15 | 0:05:19
needs to keep going. Mollie and AJ's
quickstep impressed the judges. They | 0:05:19 | 0:05:30
thought she'd made vast
improvements. Was it a quickstep in | 0:05:30 | 0:05:34
the right direction? Her best dance
yet. Bright. I preferred this | 0:05:34 | 0:05:43
choreography than the others. Just
my opinion. Look at the pivot. AJ | 0:05:43 | 0:05:49
doesn't do this once or twice but
three times. Now what she has to do | 0:05:49 | 0:05:53
is keep relaxed and keep her core
and keep extension and roll with | 0:05:53 | 0:05:56
him. Towards the end, maybe out of
puff the last one her shoulders went | 0:05:56 | 0:06:01
up, so she just has to maintain that
but vast, vast improvement. Good | 0:06:01 | 0:06:06
work, Mollie. And final Davood and
Nadiya's waltz, they praised the | 0:06:06 | 0:06:19
stripped back choreography. Were you
impressed? I loved it. Beautiful | 0:06:19 | 0:06:23
hold, takeover, just dance. They do
a spin turn and lock. Another one | 0:06:23 | 0:06:27
into promenade position. A beautiful
weave into a bit of line. He stands | 0:06:27 | 0:06:30
up a great. Arms forward. Then he
goes into a pivot. Now this is where | 0:06:30 | 0:06:34
he starts to go a bit limp. A bit
wet fish for me. No wet fish He can | 0:06:34 | 0:06:39
improve this easily. He loses his
centre. His head comes forward and | 0:06:39 | 0:06:44
arms drop. See that back line there,
I bet you thought I'd forgotten. | 0:06:44 | 0:06:48
It's demo time... Up she gets. I
need a beautiful assistant. Come on. | 0:06:48 | 0:06:56
Oh, Gorka. Gorka. | 0:06:56 | 0:06:59
Now, stand nice and tall. You need a
long front, a long right side, all | 0:07:03 | 0:07:07
right. Arms up and forward, block
the weight, one, two, three, lined | 0:07:07 | 0:07:11
up. Now this... Hee hee, I love
this, oh, hello This is called | 0:07:11 | 0:07:17
inside right thigh. I love my job. | 0:07:17 | 0:07:21
If you turn this way, Zoe, come on
you can be my lovely assistant here. | 0:07:24 | 0:07:29
Haven't seen you for a while. OK,
cool. Right thigh to right side. | 0:07:29 | 0:07:33
Touching. Go on, touch Oh, hello. Go
on, put your thigh against him. I am | 0:07:33 | 0:07:42
put my thigh against I am. I'm
trying to be polite He is a little | 0:07:42 | 0:07:46
short, but we can get there. Now
relax and he can pivot around that | 0:07:46 | 0:07:52
point but you must keep that right
thigh. Come on, he is nice to touch. | 0:07:52 | 0:07:57
There you go, a dream. Ladies and
gentlemen... Take a bow. Erin bowing | 0:07:57 | 0:08:04
a, I love you a little bit more
every time I see you. Gorka, you can | 0:08:04 | 0:08:08
stay forever. Gorka and Erin! I will
leave those two there. I just want | 0:08:08 | 0:08:14
to sit down Go on. I loved that. | 0:08:14 | 0:08:19
Now, with Strictly heading
to the musicals this weekend, | 0:08:19 | 0:08:21
I had to pick a pocket or two
to get my hands on this | 0:08:21 | 0:08:24
weekend's playlist. | 0:08:24 | 0:08:25
Luckily, it was worth it. | 0:08:25 | 0:08:27
It's Tunes on Tuesday. | 0:08:27 | 0:08:27
Love you! | 0:08:27 | 0:08:29
Jazz hands at the ready
because Musicals Week | 0:08:35 | 0:08:37
is within touching distance, people. | 0:08:37 | 0:08:38
So let's see what Show Tunes
are on the playlist. | 0:08:38 | 0:08:41
Break a Leg. | 0:08:41 | 0:08:42
MUSIC: Phantom of the Opera. | 0:08:42 | 0:08:46
This is Phantom of the Opera
from a little-known | 0:08:46 | 0:08:52
Andrew Lloyd-Webber musical
about a beautiful soprano | 0:08:52 | 0:08:55
singer who becomes
the obsession of a mysterious, | 0:08:55 | 0:08:57
disfigured musical genius. | 0:08:57 | 0:09:00
The show has played for over 30
years in the West End and holds | 0:09:05 | 0:09:08
the record for the longest-running
show on Broadway. | 0:09:08 | 0:09:10
It's like my own air conditioning.
Very impressive skills. | 0:09:10 | 0:09:17
Let's find out who will be
taking on this classic. | 0:09:17 | 0:09:21
It's Davood and Nadiya. | 0:09:23 | 0:09:25
They'll be dancing an Argentine
Tango to this classic. | 0:09:25 | 0:09:33
Gorka, the corker, please. | 0:09:33 | 0:09:35
APPLAUSE | 0:09:36 | 0:09:38
Right, what's next up? | 0:09:38 | 0:09:39
MUSIC: Hello Dolly. | 0:09:39 | 0:09:41
This is the title track
from Hello Dolly the musical | 0:09:41 | 0:09:43
about a strong-willed
matchmaker called - | 0:09:43 | 0:09:45
wait for it - Dolly. | 0:09:45 | 0:09:48
Dolly was first played
by Carol Channing back in 1964, | 0:09:48 | 0:09:52
who revisited the role so many
times, she clocked up over 5,000 | 0:09:52 | 0:09:55
appearances on stage. | 0:09:55 | 0:09:56
Blimey! | 0:09:56 | 0:09:57
But did you know Hello Dolly
was originally going to be called | 0:09:57 | 0:10:00
A Damned Exasperating Woman? | 0:10:00 | 0:10:01
Not quite as catchy. | 0:10:01 | 0:10:02
So who'll be dancing to this? | 0:10:02 | 0:10:04
Let's find out. | 0:10:04 | 0:10:08
It's Gemma and Aljaz. | 0:10:10 | 0:10:11
They'll be dancing a quickstep. | 0:10:11 | 0:10:13
We've only got time
for one more tune. | 0:10:13 | 0:10:15
Let's make it count. | 0:10:15 | 0:10:16
MUSIC: Memory from Cats. | 0:10:16 | 0:10:20
This is Memory from
the musical Cats. | 0:10:20 | 0:10:30
That's more like it, ladies. | 0:10:34 | 0:10:35
This beautiful little number is sang
by Grizabella in the show | 0:10:35 | 0:10:38
and was first made famous by musical
theatre legend Elaine Paige. | 0:10:38 | 0:10:41
But did you know Dame Judi Dench
was originally cast in the role? | 0:10:41 | 0:10:48
Oh, hello. It gets stranger and
stranger around here. | 0:10:48 | 0:10:55
She pulled out before the show
opened after picking up | 0:10:55 | 0:10:57
an injury in rehearsals. | 0:10:57 | 0:10:58
Oh what could have been. | 0:10:58 | 0:10:59
So, who will be hoping for
purrrrrrrrrfect scores with this? | 0:10:59 | 0:11:02
Stranger and stranger! Here we go... | 0:11:02 | 0:11:07
It's Debbie and Giovanni! | 0:11:08 | 0:11:11
And they'll be dancing
an American Smooth. | 0:11:11 | 0:11:15
Come in, little cat. | 0:11:15 | 0:11:17
To find out the rest of the songs,
head to the Strictly website. | 0:11:17 | 0:11:21
Next up, a reminder that it's not
all fun and games here. | 0:11:21 | 0:11:23
No, there's one thing we take
very seriously indeed. | 0:11:23 | 0:11:26
It's the Strictly Pro Challenge. | 0:11:26 | 0:11:31
I love you, little pussy cat. | 0:11:31 | 0:11:35
This year's Strictly Pro Challenge
is heading back in time to the | 0:11:35 | 0:11:39
roaring '20s, where our pros will
attempt to set a Guinness world | 0:11:39 | 0:11:46
title for the most swivel steps in
60 seconds. The pro also have to | 0:11:46 | 0:11:50
complete one forward and one
backward step to qualify. If there | 0:11:50 | 0:11:53
is no swivel in the feet and ankles,
the step will be disqualified. This | 0:11:53 | 0:11:57
year's challenge will be the hardest
our pros have ever faced but only | 0:11:57 | 0:12:00
one person can claim the title. It's
the Strictly Pro Challenge, 2017. | 0:12:00 | 0:12:08
Thank you, Waitey. | 0:12:08 | 0:12:09
Time to welcome our next contender. | 0:12:09 | 0:12:16
He loves include football, | 0:12:16 | 0:12:17
Robbie Williams and WWE Wrestling. | 0:12:17 | 0:12:20
And he is so obsessed with Star Wars
he has his own Stormtroopers | 0:12:20 | 0:12:27
backpack. | 0:12:27 | 0:12:28
Go wild for Grimbsy's finest export
- it's Kevin Clifton! | 0:12:28 | 0:12:31
Welcome, welcome. So, Kevin Clinton
how do you rate your Charleston | 0:12:31 | 0:12:37
action on an average day? On an
average day - u, it depends what | 0:12:37 | 0:12:42
mood I'm N some days you wake up and
look at yourself Mirror and go - | 0:12:42 | 0:12:47
looking good today. One of those, I
feel my Charleston is good. On an | 0:12:47 | 0:12:52
average day, probably not so hot.
OK. I like this, though. You did win | 0:12:52 | 0:12:59
your first Pre Challenge back in
2013, getting through an impressive | 0:12:59 | 0:13:05
number of drunken sailors, you
haven't come close recently. Do you | 0:13:05 | 0:13:09
worry your best days are behind you?
2013 seems like a long time ago now. | 0:13:09 | 0:13:14
I felt a few creeks until the body
in this series of Strictly Come | 0:13:14 | 0:13:18
Dancing. I'm older, not as quick as
I used to be. What are you, 32 now? | 0:13:18 | 0:13:23
I'll take that. Did you train,
seriously, Kevin? Trained more for | 0:13:23 | 0:13:30
this than the actual proper series
itself, actually. I was doing | 0:13:30 | 0:13:33
Charleston every day. Good to hear.
Good boy. Katya currently top of the | 0:13:33 | 0:13:38
leaderboard with a score of 19. Do
you have what it takes to beat Mrs | 0:13:38 | 0:13:42
Jones? I really don't know. You see
I thought AJ might have been the | 0:13:42 | 0:13:49
quickest, Katya has gone quicker
than AJ. That has scared me a bit | 0:13:49 | 0:13:53
that has, actually. Has it? Oh, it's
put the fear in him. Let's see how | 0:13:53 | 0:13:57
Kevin got on, shall we? I have won a
record before. I'm hoping I can add | 0:13:57 | 0:14:03
another one to the list with
Charleston swivel. Hello. Hi. It's | 0:14:03 | 0:14:10
Kevin. Welcome to the Pre Challenge
Thank you very much. -- the PPro | 0:14:10 | 0:14:18
Challenge. You have won one before
but quite a quiel ago. I am gating | 0:14:18 | 0:14:23
older. . You came close last year. I
felt like I nearly one but someone | 0:14:23 | 0:14:31
disqualified a lot of my steps. I
have no idea who that could be. | 0:14:31 | 0:14:35
Please take your position on the
dance floor. Good luck Thank you. So | 0:14:35 | 0:14:40
your official attempt beginning in
three, two, one, go... | 0:14:40 | 0:14:48
And called! -- Ankles! Five, four,
three, two, one, stop. It looked | 0:15:00 | 0:15:19
like it was a lot. If the majority
of those past, I think you could do | 0:15:19 | 0:15:25
very well. Very fast. Well done,
Kevin, good luck. If I've done one | 0:15:25 | 0:15:36
wrong, they are all going to be
wrong. I will come bottom and then | 0:15:36 | 0:15:41
end up looking like Neil Jones. | 0:15:41 | 0:15:45
You don't want to look like Neil
Jones, Neil Jones doesn't even want | 0:15:47 | 0:15:52
to look like Neil Jones. It looked
speedy. It felt quicker than it | 0:15:52 | 0:15:59
looked. The way Ian said, if they
counted... That sounded ominous. It | 0:15:59 | 0:16:06
did, even to me. There were some
interesting noises, was it harder | 0:16:06 | 0:16:12
than you imagined? Yes, it is all
very well Ian is going, "Only 15 | 0:16:12 | 0:16:20
seconds". About 15 seconds in, I
said, ankles! It was working its way | 0:16:20 | 0:16:28
up my body. We need to make Ian to
-- do this one year. | 0:16:28 | 0:16:35
I'm legally required
to inform you that after each | 0:16:35 | 0:16:37
of the professionals had
made their attempt, the footage | 0:16:37 | 0:16:39
was watched back by adjudicators
in slow motion to verify every | 0:16:39 | 0:16:42
single swivel to make sure
they were all accurate. | 0:16:42 | 0:16:44
Are you feeling confident? | 0:16:44 | 0:16:45
I'm not feeling very confident at
all. | 0:16:45 | 0:16:46 | |
Ok, we can't keep you in
suspense any longer. | 0:16:46 | 0:16:48
Kevin Clifton, in 30
seconds you completed... | 0:16:48 | 0:16:54
28 charleston swivels! Don't do it!
Don't do it! There were some | 0:17:06 | 0:17:18
qualifications. You had 12 illegal
steps, giving you a score of 16. No | 0:17:18 | 0:17:27
way! Some look... Furious! I have
never seen him so angry, he's like | 0:17:27 | 0:17:34
the Hulk! How are you feeling about
that, need I ask? Over the moon. Can | 0:17:34 | 0:17:47
Katya hold the top spot? It seems
really difficult to beat. So sorry! | 0:17:47 | 0:17:55
Kevin Clifton! | 0:17:55 | 0:17:57
My next guests danced
a Heavenly Rumba to Beyonce's | 0:17:57 | 0:17:59
Halo at the weekend,
but sadly found themselves in one | 0:17:59 | 0:18:02
hell of a dance-off. | 0:18:02 | 0:18:03
It's Alexandra and Gorka! | 0:18:03 | 0:18:10
All that torment, all of the
conflicted emotions, it was really | 0:18:10 | 0:18:15
like a drama set to music. Unlike
Bruno, I felt it lacked any | 0:18:15 | 0:18:21
connection and chemistry. You are a
great performer, you will come back | 0:18:21 | 0:18:26
strong, well done. Alexandra and
Corker. -- Gorka. Congratulations | 0:18:26 | 0:18:40
for surviving the dance off. I had a
really weird feeling in the day we | 0:18:40 | 0:18:48
were going to be in the dance off
and when it happened it was like, I | 0:18:48 | 0:18:53
know I could have done better and
all day it felt like my nerves were | 0:18:53 | 0:18:58
getting the better of me, you know
how it happens, and I was always | 0:18:58 | 0:19:02
nervous about the Rumba but it felt
good and I felt the chemistry, I | 0:19:02 | 0:19:07
felt the connection. I definitely
was very nervous, I was shaking so | 0:19:07 | 0:19:12
much. It's funny because people say
does it get easier but it can get | 0:19:12 | 0:19:21
harder. We were crazy in love with
it, Gorka, but why do you think a | 0:19:21 | 0:19:25
lot of people have trouble
connecting with this dance? I think | 0:19:25 | 0:19:30
it is a very slow dance so the
celebrities it is difficult because | 0:19:30 | 0:19:36
it is a very slow dance and the
precise movement and technique, like | 0:19:36 | 0:19:41
on a fast dance you just move
around. The audience don't get it | 0:19:41 | 0:19:45
because it is very slow. It is very
intimate, a story between us which | 0:19:45 | 0:19:52
maybe doesn't come across sometimes.
Even though we feel it, maybe people | 0:19:52 | 0:19:58
doesn't see it. I like rumba
statistic time. | 0:19:58 | 0:20:06
If you watch this show a lot,
you may have heard the phrase, | 0:20:06 | 0:20:09
"The rumba is a notoriously
difficult dance" | 0:20:09 | 0:20:11
a few thousand times. | 0:20:11 | 0:20:12
Well, here are some very
well-regarded celebs who found | 0:20:12 | 0:20:14
themselves in the bottom two
with this dreaded dance. | 0:20:14 | 0:20:18
Julian Clary, series 2,
Week 6, quarter-final. | 0:20:18 | 0:20:21
Denise Van Outen, Series 10,
Week 11, semi-final. | 0:20:21 | 0:20:24
Abbey Clancey, Series 11, Week 6. | 0:20:24 | 0:20:28
Simon Webbe, Series 12, Week 3. | 0:20:28 | 0:20:31
Mark Wright, Series 12,
Week 12, semi-final. | 0:20:31 | 0:20:34
You should note that all of these
were eventual finalists! | 0:20:34 | 0:20:41
So hopefully you can take some good
stuff from that. Surely did say | 0:20:41 | 0:20:47
though that you would be back in the
paso doble and she was absolutely | 0:20:47 | 0:20:51
right. I loved it! How was it? I
found it amazing but it was some | 0:20:51 | 0:21:00
strange being on stage with everyone
else because it is such an | 0:21:00 | 0:21:03
aggressive stance. I'm not used to
being in competitions but I was in | 0:21:03 | 0:21:10
between other dancers and I was
thinking how do I get out of this | 0:21:10 | 0:21:14
bubble right now because I didn't
want to interrupt their heirs, but | 0:21:14 | 0:21:18
Gorka said, just keep going. It is
very British to be polite. One | 0:21:18 | 0:21:25
couple was coming close to us, and
she was like... Alex, next time, | 0:21:25 | 0:21:32
elbows up. It is your frame. I
didn't know that. And guess what | 0:21:32 | 0:21:41
happened, you won it! How did that
feel? Earn it felt amazing because | 0:21:41 | 0:21:49
the paso doble and the jive are my
favourite soap to get to do it | 0:21:49 | 0:21:56
again, I loved it. And you were
happy for her to unleash the beast. | 0:21:56 | 0:22:03
Yes, I said, you know, just go for
it and she said, don't worry, it's | 0:22:03 | 0:22:10
ready! Musicals Week. You have been
in Bodyguard lower | 0:22:10 | 0:22:28
and sister act. You are doing a
charleston, what is the song title? | 0:22:28 | 0:22:37
In Spanish or English? In both. | 0:22:37 | 0:22:49
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Is this the role of a lifetime? Yes, | 0:22:55 | 0:23:02
it is one I have been waiting for
for so long. I want to be thrown | 0:23:02 | 0:23:07
around the stage. I'm always
energetic anyway but after a couple | 0:23:07 | 0:23:11
of days training it feels so good.
And the last ones to do the | 0:23:11 | 0:23:16
charleston as well. Obviously you
are playing Dick Van Dyke, how is | 0:23:16 | 0:23:21
your cockney accent? All right! All
right! Work on that swivel, I know | 0:23:21 | 0:23:31
it will be incredible. Alexandra and
Gorka! | 0:23:31 | 0:23:41
That's all we have time for tonight! | 0:23:41 | 0:23:45
Join me tomorrow at 6.30 when I'll
be chatting to Debbie and Giovanni, | 0:23:45 | 0:23:48
Ian Waite is here for a Warm-Up
and Vincent Simone provides a master | 0:23:48 | 0:23:51
class in the Argentine Tango. | 0:23:51 | 0:23:52
Plus the Strictly Pro
Challenge continues! | 0:23:52 | 0:23:54
Until then, goodnight! | 0:23:54 | 0:23:56 |
