It is Saturday, it is 9 : 05. Here with the draws it is Mr OJ Borge. | :00:26. | :00:31.
We have with you the Lotto and the jackpot at 4 million. A nice | :00:31. | :00:35.
amount of cash to make a long way to make this Christmas is special | :00:35. | :00:39.
one. Also, following the fantastic National Lottery Awards 2012, we | :00:39. | :00:43.
have the winners of the Best Voluntary and Charity Project to | :00:43. | :00:47.
tell us if their feet have touched the ground since picking up the | :00:47. | :00:52.
award last Saturday. First, it is time for Thunderball. It is like we | :00:52. | :01:02.
:01:02. | :01:04. | ||
have been practising all night for that! OK, Julie, time to kick-start | :01:04. | :01:14.
:01:14. | :01:14. | ||
the first machine if you would. Julie is the drawmaster. | :01:14. | :01:24.
:01:24. | :01:26. | ||
Excalibur and set of balls six was selected by Lewis from Denham. | :01:26. | :01:32.
Julie, so, for the Thunderball draw are we ready? Yes, we are, thank | :01:32. | :01:42.
:01:42. | :02:13. | ||
The last ball is next. Julie, let's get the second machine | :02:13. | :02:21.
moving, please. The next and final ball is the | :02:21. | :02:26.
thunderer ball it is worth money to each and every ticket that matches | :02:26. | :02:30.
with it. If you have matches to the other numbers drawn so far, then | :02:30. | :02:37.
the money you will win is a Christmas cracking half a million | :02:37. | :02:41.
pounds! Gary could make a big difference to what you could win. | :02:41. | :02:51.
:02:51. | :02:58. | ||
There it is, that is number nine. Thank you, Alan. Now, tonight's big | :02:59. | :03:02.
Lotto Draw is caming right up, but first, let's have a look at the | :03:02. | :03:06.
project that touched the hearts of millions at this year's National | :03:06. | :03:11.
Lottery Awards 2012. New Forest Nightstop is the only | :03:11. | :03:15.
provider of emergency accommodation for young people in the New Forest. | :03:15. | :03:19.
We do this through homes of trained and approved volunteers, that offer | :03:19. | :03:25.
a spare room to a young person in need. People are surprised that | :03:25. | :03:28.
homelessness exists in the New Forest. Generally it is perceived | :03:28. | :03:34.
as a city issue. My mum got remarried. He did not | :03:34. | :03:38.
want me and I ended up on the streets. | :03:39. | :03:46.
I was hungry and alone and depressed. I was tired. People were | :03:46. | :03:56.
:03:56. | :04:03. | ||
just like, "Are you staying alone?" But I was just a young girl who was | :04:03. | :04:09.
so lost. No-one was listening. With me now are Jude and Katie from | :04:09. | :04:12.
New Forest Nightstop. Welcome to the show. What a fantastic award | :04:12. | :04:18.
you won. How did it feel? It felt wonderful to receive an award and | :04:18. | :04:21.
to be voted in there by our local community. | :04:21. | :04:25.
I was in the audience it was a fantastic night. There were lots of | :04:25. | :04:30.
tears, and all for the right reasons. Why did you get involved | :04:30. | :04:35.
in the project? I saw a leaflet, offering a young person a room, I | :04:35. | :04:40.
thought that I could do that, but I was homeless at 16. I know the | :04:40. | :04:45.
risks on the streets there. Were no places to go. You were faced with | :04:45. | :04:51.
abuse and drugs. It strips all of your self-esteem and it takes a | :04:51. | :04:56.
toll. So I wonder how I survived. Some of my friends did not, but New | :04:56. | :05:01.
Forest Nightstop offers a positive way to make a difference and to | :05:01. | :05:06.
support a homeless young person. Knowing you have been on the | :05:06. | :05:13.
streets, what did it make, feel to you to make a difference? It was | :05:13. | :05:16.
priceless. It was such a small thing to open your door, to offer a | :05:16. | :05:22.
bed and a meal. It changed my life. How does the lottery funding help | :05:22. | :05:26.
New Forest Nightstop? Hugely. We are based in the New Forest. There | :05:26. | :05:30.
is no other emergency accommodation, just New Forest Nightstop. We have | :05:30. | :05:38.
been able to with the lottery money to provide over 170 nights to | :05:38. | :05:42.
over00 people it is graigt. Katie, we saw you on the night, | :05:42. | :05:50.
there were tears, how are you you now? I am doing really well. I am | :05:50. | :05:55.
now a qualified worker and I help New Forest Nightstop. They gave me | :05:55. | :06:00.
the tools to be independent and to cope with my mental health and | :06:00. | :06:05.
provided me with the facilities to do that. So and now I have a | :06:05. | :06:09.
beautiful home. What can you do to help people in the same position as | :06:09. | :06:15.
you? I am a qualified youth worker now. I am also embarking on a | :06:15. | :06:19.
degree. So to know that I can provide them with the tools it is | :06:19. | :06:24.
amazing. I will hopefully inspire them to do something with their | :06:24. | :06:28.
lives. That would be remarkable. Now, you were on the stage last | :06:28. | :06:38.
:06:38. | :06:39. | ||
Saturday. You got the award from a Spice Girl, Melanie C. What did it | :06:39. | :06:45.
feel like? It was really great, we felt successful. And this breaks | :06:46. | :06:49.
down the stigma. Where is the award now? It is on my | :06:49. | :06:53.
desk. What do you say to projects | :06:53. | :06:58.
thinking of going for a Lottery Award next year? Oh, do it. It is | :06:58. | :07:02.
really exciting it does a lot to publicise your work and | :07:02. | :07:06.
organisation. It is a really nice work to celebrate the work that is | :07:06. | :07:09.
done behind the scenes. And if people want to find more | :07:09. | :07:15.
they can go to the website? Yes, go to the website: Find out more also | :07:15. | :07:18.
about the New Forest Nightstop network and hear more about our | :07:18. | :07:20.
spare rooms campaign in the New Year. | :07:20. | :07:25.
