We have with you the Lotto and the jackpot at �4 million. A nice

amount of cash to make a long way to make this Christmas is special

one. Also, following the fantastic National Lottery Awards 2012, we

have the winners of the Best Voluntary and Charity Project to

tell us if their feet have touched the ground since picking up the

award last Saturday. First, it is time for Thunderball. It is like we

have been practising all night for that! OK, Julie, time to kick-start

Lotto Draw is caming right up, but first, let's have a look at the

project that touched the hearts of millions at this year's National

Lottery Awards 2012. New Forest Nightstop is the only

provider of emergency accommodation for young people in the New Forest.

We do this through homes of trained and approved volunteers, that offer

a spare room to a young person in need. People are surprised that

homelessness exists in the New Forest. Generally it is perceived

as a city issue. My mum got remarried. He did not

want me and I ended up on the streets.

I was hungry and alone and depressed. I was tired. People were

just like, "Are you staying alone?" But I was just a young girl who was

so lost. No-one was listening. With me now are Jude and Katie from

New Forest Nightstop. Welcome to the show. What a fantastic award

you won. How did it feel? It felt wonderful to receive an award and

to be voted in there by our local community.

I was in the audience it was a fantastic night. There were lots of

tears, and all for the right reasons. Why did you get involved

in the project? I saw a leaflet, offering a young person a room, I

thought that I could do that, but I was homeless at 16. I know the

risks on the streets there. Were no places to go. You were faced with

abuse and drugs. It strips all of your self-esteem and it takes a

toll. So I wonder how I survived. Some of my friends did not, but New

Forest Nightstop offers a positive way to make a difference and to

support a homeless young person. Knowing you have been on the

streets, what did it make, feel to you to make a difference? It was

priceless. It was such a small thing to open your door, to offer a

bed and a meal. It changed my life. How does the lottery funding help

New Forest Nightstop? Hugely. We are based in the New Forest. There

is no other emergency accommodation, just New Forest Nightstop. We have

been able to with the lottery money to provide over 170 nights to

over00 people it is graigt. Katie, we saw you on the night,

there were tears, how are you you now? I am doing really well. I am

now a qualified worker and I help New Forest Nightstop. They gave me

the tools to be independent and to cope with my mental health and

provided me with the facilities to do that. So and now I have a

beautiful home. What can you do to help people in the same position as

you? I am a qualified youth worker now. I am also embarking on a

degree. So to know that I can provide them with the tools it is

amazing. I will hopefully inspire them to do something with their

lives. That would be remarkable. Now, you were on the stage last

Saturday. You got the award from a Spice Girl, Melanie C. What did it

feel like? It was really great, we felt successful. And this breaks

down the stigma. Where is the award now? It is on my

desk. What do you say to projects

thinking of going for a Lottery Award next year? Oh, do it. It is

really exciting it does a lot to publicise your work and

organisation. It is a really nice work to celebrate the work that is
