Live Final Let It Shine

The final countdown! They survived the star way. Dodge disaster in the

deliberation room. And fought their way into the final. The prize of

that role in the musical is so close, one star way. Scary thinking

there are two other performances for someone to give you your dreams. The

best experience of my life to send us on that tour, that would be a

dream. They battled through the break-ups. And break dancing of the

live shows. To be the last man standing. Tonight, Drive, Five To

Five and Nightfall go head-to-head and sing live not once but twice.

The judges have no say, it is up to the viewers. Tonight, we find the

winning band. It's the final, let's go!

Welcome to the final of Let it Shine.

But before we see them, let's hear from them.

The final. The moment we have been looking forward to for eight weeks.

I am excited, it comes down to this. This week the boys will perform not

one but two songs. The first is a high-energy musical theatre song.

Song from a musical adds a new dimension because within this they

have to tell a story, this is completely different from singing

pop songs. This is the moment when you feel, OK, we are in the theatre.

Then, there are versions of ballots by Ed Sheeran, boys to men and Miley

Cyrus. Pop ballads are so important for any boy band. There is no thing

that separates these bands, only one of them can win. Now is the time to

shine. Shiny and bright. Lovely to see you.

OK... Yes, that is the judges. You three have been there

from the very beginning. Dannii, can you believe

it's the final? It has come around so quickly. I

have to say, this is particularly two friends Adam, don't call me

tomorrow and say, I love that band and they did not get through, vote!

Absolutely, we know all of these bands can sing pop songs until the

cows come home but musical theatre numbers is what they will have to

sing for the rest of their lives if they win this competition. Tough

Welcome, is that Peter? I said Honey! And you say Pete! I am all

the better for seeing you. This is the first time you have been on a

judging panel. Gary next year, he is very Zen. What would you be like?

Very inadequate! But I am standing in Robbie Williams. He has hurt his

back and we wish them the very swift recovery.

APPLAUSE He will be singing and dancing later

on. But not sitting down. He cannot sit and judge too much. But he will

be getting up to sing and dance. Seeing as we're kicking off tonight

with some hit musical theatre songs, we sent each band backstage to some

of the biggest West End shows. Let's see what happened

when the curtain comes down Lastly, Nightfall received rave

review from the judges. Incredible, the most impressed -- improved our

Huw and Julius. So harmonic, it looks right. And the boys are

feeling on top of the world. Look at those few! This weekend is mad. I

just loved every single minute. I think we really work as a group.

Final destination- the Aldwych Theatre and a taste of what this

competition is all about. A job in a real theatre show. Look at this!

Like that, playing this every night. It has got me excited. This is nice.

When you come here and you know what you are fighting for and working

towards, it hits you like a tonne of bricks. The youngest boy left, Huw,

is realising the scale of what is at stake. Right, this is what I am

here, to put a smile on people's faces. Standing here is just

amazing, this is where I want to be. Waiting for Nightfall is Cassidy

Jansen, who has advice for the boys before their performance in the

final. Never repeat performance, always create something right night

because if you create something in the moment, it is always fun. You

never get bored. In theatre you perform to the back of the stage, is

that easy? Do you want to try projecting? We will go to the top,

and you three can do the projection. OK. Go one! Rubbish! Laaa! That was

good! Laaa! Perfect! That was good. It was great when Cassidy said who

could project the loudest, if we want to win this, we will want to

reach those people at the back of the room. I thought they were

adorable and really professional. Pleasure to meet you. They come from

different backgrounds, older and younger, they have this great work

ethic. Have the best time on Saturday night. You will smash it.

guys have tackled a modern Listen, let's just be clear, these

guys deliver with everything we give them, they really do. It's true.

Their job within this musical is to be convincing to the audience that

they are a boy band, a great boy band, the biggest in the country.

Guys, you were amazing tonight, well done.

Dannii, do you agree, do they capture the spirit of a real boy

band? Arrrrr! You guys have been consistent but up until tonight

there was a question mark as to whether you could put that kind of

energy together and you delivered tonight.

APPLAUSE. She's loving it.

Later on we'll be seeing a pop ballad. I need the boys to walk out

in that ballad and act as if it's press night at Gary's new musical.

But after a performance like that, I can smell BO! Box office!

Someone's been working on that all week! If that is you... It's me,

Graham, don't you worry, son. You've sold out arenas and things, can

these guys hack it? Can they what? What did he say? Could they sell out

an arena? Oh, that were fantastic, where's me golden buzzer, get it

pressed. I'll tell you something, Graham, I'll tell you something,

lads, your names are here, Bradley, Danny, Julius, you're on that bit of

paper here, that's all good what you are doing but look behind you, lads,

see where the real money is, scaffolding. Always have a trade

Baby of the group Nick is using a crutch. Come on, Nick. What did the

physio say? A muscle down there is super tight. He told know rest up

for a couple of days. That's all I can go. Having met up with fifth

member Yazdan, our boys hot-footed it through the West End and took to

the stage of one of the hottest tickets in town. Oh, my... Oh! Boys.

This is the dream innit. I know, right. Imagine that full of people.

We should do our routine for this weekend. You can stop an avalanche

and it races down the hill... Oh, who is that? ! Very nice, boys. Meet

Charlie, currently starring in Half A Sixpence and has just won a Best

Actor award for his first ever lead role so who better to give advice

about the trappings of success? Getting five star reviews is amazing

but I know I can do better. Perfection from Gary Barlow is

incredible and no-one can take that away from you. Never be Happy with

what you give, it's never enough. What happened? I overworked it.

Before this, I was just restoring cars so I'm not used to the intense

hours and all of the dancing. With experience you learn what your body

can do and not. It's like a professional athlete. It makes you

anxious actually in terms of getting it right and, you know, this could

be our lives for the next year if we win. I hope you get better soon.

Thank you very much. With Nick needing all the luck he can get, AJ

commits a theatre world sin. Oh, none of that. We can't whistle

backstage because it's a superstition. Any other

superstitions? I have a pair of Socks that I've worn for every

audition I've ever been to. My sister got me a four leaf clever, we

put it on card and I put it on my pocket every time before I go on

stage. That is amazing. Hopefully it can work for the final. Speaking to

Charlie has been inspirational. He achieved his dream. What happens

this Saturday could be the beginning of the rest of our lives. It's an

incredibly scary thought but also a very exciting thought.

Gary, last week you said Five To Five gave you goosebumps.

How did they do in their first performance of the night?

Well, just listen to the audience. Oh, my goodness.

You know... CHANTING.

Nick, we all have an injury after our performance, mate, you killed

it, really did. I feel terrible because obviously

you're hurting but happily the next performance will be a slow ballad,

Dannii. So what advice do you give the boys during that? I love to see

personality in every performance. Keep your own personality, and let

that shine through. Don't get too serious with it. Keep the

personality there. Nick, my friend, all of you guys are new to this,

theatre is athletic and you've shown us that you are going to turn up no

matter what and you are going to keep going.

APPLAUSE. Martin, what did you think? I'm

going to be really honest here, eight weeks ago when we started this

whole process, I never dreamed in my wildest imagination that we would

find someone as good as you boys. APPLAUSE.

Peter, did they win you over? How's Nick's leg? It's OK we think. Nick

Alfie Boe and Michael Ball give us a Les Miserables master class. An of

Show, you'll know the judges decided to keep all five members of our next

band together. It's Drive everybody! What actually happened on Saturday?

There is only one place left. Who is it going to be? Seeing Jazzie on his

own, I just felt sick. I was the last one to get picked and I started

making my acceptance speech in my head. Such a good feeling all

getting through together. We have got the last hurdle to get over and

I feel like we can definitely do this. We are in the finals, we are

in the finals! Musical theatre this week, this should be our thing. Yes,

for experienced performers Matt and Jonnie, the stage is familiar

territory but today's visit to musical School of Rock, it will be

the first time Conor and Jazzie have ever set foot in a theatre. And it's

a chance to dream about that prize. To actually win it and go, this is a

job, I think you will perform it every day eight days a week for 12

months with a happy smile on your face. Eight days a week. I've never

done theatre before. I come from a pop background. What is a standing

ovation like in a place like this? Best feeling ever. Do you get roses

thrown at you? You do a bow. After rehearsing, the guys get a chance to

tour the theatre and two of the young stars lead the way.

While the kids rock out, Jonnie's previous day job selling ice-cream

in theatre foyers is playing on his mind.

I really wanna be on stage so that when I walk past the ice-cream I

feel a bit sick. Getting weird energy. Conner is still soaking up

his experience of the stage. This is massive. With the final the only

thing standing in Drive's way, star of School of Rock, David Finn

explains how he handles the pressure of a big night. Break it down song

by song. If my voice is tired I'm just like OK I just need to get

through this song and then I'm through to the next one, that helps

you with it being so overwhelming. It's not necessarily about nailing

every line, telling the story is the most important thing. It's team

work, that sounds crazy but it is. That's the best thing I've heard,

it's about a team. Coming to the theatre has brought it home to me,

this is 100% what I want to do, this is real, this could be us.

Dannii, you guys kept these five together last week.

They have proven they have got this together, in two weeks they have had

one week to pull this together, I did 66 shows of that in Australia

and we got to rehearse for one month. Well done!

APPLAUSE This was your best performance by a

mile! Congratulations! Peter, are you a fan? Grease is the word and I

have a word, and I know this is live but it is the F word. Fantastic!

APPLAUSE Gary, that's the last musical

theatre performance, but there's the pop ballad

still to come from Drive. Everything they already have done,

these boys have had an amazing competition, they had been broken up

and put into a new band, in the bottom two last week. This business

is about getting back up and keep fighting. And you have done that.

APPLAUSE Thank you, judges.

One member of Nightfall did not even apply, Julius was nominated by his

friend to audition. Gary surprised me in London. Will you audition for

us? Yes! Good job I did not say no! The reaction from me was

unbelievable, I could not ask for anything better. That was the first

time I ever allowed myself to show everybody what I was capable of

doing. Not everything went to plan for the boys. Danny was struck down

with tonsillitis. I was quite ill, I was on scared and quite scared. You

are far from your best. Originally, when we were put together, I was

thinking about the moment but I did not think we would get this far. To

make it into The Band was crazy. The first performance as Nightfall was a

very special moment for me because it showed us that we could

releasing. -- really sing. I never thought I would make it that far and

I made to the live finals, could not ask for better guys to be doing this

with. Get off! Watching their journey makes me so proud. We have

grown so much in the past month, and every single day together. We give

each other positive energy, we pick a job up, all of those experiences

come together and I think we have a good shot. We want this!

Gary, tonight you've seen Nightfall go from upbeat to ballad.

Brilliantly. I must say, this is the point in the competition to land

your best performance. We just saw that right there. Absolutely

brilliant. Dannii? It was everything we wanted. That song, for me, if you

listen to that over and over, it means so much, you cannot mess that

up. You all delivered, you were shining. Honestly.

Five To Five have avoided having to sing for survival. But will their

friendship and youthful energy get them to the finish line? The first

edition was nerve wracking. We would just like students. I'm doing

physics, mathematics and Theatre studies. I am currently restoring

classic cars. I Amatrice surgeon, doing this during my gap year. What

if you get this job? That is going out the window! My mother was very

over the top when I got through. She is the cutest thing! What if you

win? I am scared! Performing with Olly Murs was fantastic, you can't

Take That with you forever. And for Nick. My name is Nick, nice to meet

you! Why would I say my name? That is funny! I did have tonsillitis

during the performance, he to me to one side, don't worry, which was

really nice because I was quite down. He did! It felt amazing

because we wanted to be on the live show and we did not want this

experience to end. My first experience with these boys,

rehearsing and living with them, I have made friends for life. That was

nice! Allegedly! The first performance was fun and energetic,

don't tell her about it, that was more classy. The choreography and

the harmonies were difficult. You were unreal. I want to be in this

band but I am too old! He is never too old. Gary can join us any day!

in a bubble in your own zone and we all want to be there with you. What

you do is you simply make people come to the edge of their seat and

the next thing is, they're up like this. Well done! Martin? You have

confidence, passion, charisma and friendship. I want to say thank you

Time for our next band with their romantic ballad.

It's Drive. It's been a long and winding road for Drive. With nothing

to lose, are they stronger than ever? When I did the first audition,

that was the first time that any of my family ever seen me perform. I

don't know what that expression is on your mother's face. She's my

favourite person, my biggest fan. I miss the entrance, watch it back, I

walk into the post. I have a confession. I had a rip up my bum.

Kaiser Chiefs performed with the boys. You get that first sense of

bandness don't you, I grew up listening to them. It was awesome.

They made it to the live show as a band. Conor and Matt were in

Neonpanda. Both groups collided after they both sang again. Drive

lost two members, but gained Conor and Matt. We came together as a new

band and it was a case of walking in and going, right, bang, let's get it

done. It's such a laugh from day one and we all feel really at home in

this group. # Girls on film... #

Natural reaction, you touch his hair and he goes like that. It's all fun

and games until you are back in the sing-off. This time against Iron

Son. The boys were looking at another break-up until this

happened. The relief of making it as a band together to final was

amazing. Not having the smoothest ride makes you even stronger. We are

not going through all that to lose. We are going to give it everything

we have. We have to Drive to it the end and take it home.

band. I find them, out of all the bands in this competition, I find

them most vae Callie interesting because they each have their own

They have been at a desk for eight weeks so to celebrate the final we

This is amazing, I remember the first time I walked out there, it

was like being back in The Band! Gary Barlow! When Gary Barlow

arrives! I have never seen women just look above the judging desk! It

does wonders! How deep is that? He sang through his fingertips. Take my

your stride! That was the first show. I have got it, now! Hercules!

So intense. You could hear the pain in his vocal chords, but standing.

At the moment, I work in a department store selling perfume to

rich customers. What are you selling today? You are looking for something

elegant, sophisticated, Martin wants something quite wooden. I know that

I was in Eastenders for a while! I love this. I love that dancing

because I watch this with my son and he adores dancing. Especially break

dancing. Incredible. Those were the days! More breaking than dancing

night! I wanted you to sign so great! I would have married you.

Amber was great, I am so glad we got her. Great fun. # The conversation

doing everything together Living together, rehearsing

together, everything. What's been the best thing

about this experience? It's just kind of being able to meet

five different boys from different walks of life that I never would

have met if I hadn't have been in the show and I think I've grown

mature as a person and learnt so much from them.

CHEERING AND APPLAUSE. You have been together in this

formation for only two weeks. How've you bonded? To be fair, we've bonded

because literally, like, we're real friends. I hope it shows in our

performing. We have pulled it together, that's how strong it goes.

Let's hear it for Nightfall, Five To Five and Drive!

There's just a couple of minutes left to vote and then it won't be

long until we reveal which five boys have won that life-changing prize.

But first, let's find out what awaits the winning band.

We've seen them sing and dance to stay in the competition, but for the

boys, the hard work doesn't stop there. They'll be thrown straight

into rehearsals for their role in new touring musical The Band. The

show is codirected by Jack Ryder. Tonight, The Band is going to be

chosen and they are going to tour with us for a whole year. The music

is going to be an absolute belter. The story is about the lives of five

16-year-old girls and the band supply the sound track to their

lives. They'll be on stage eight shows a week for one year. So what

is life going to be like as part of an all-singing, all-dancing musical?

Being in a stage show that's going to tour becomes your life. Eight

shows a week is athletic. They are going to be performing 14 songs in

one evening. On a Wednesday, they'll have two shows so they'll perform 28

songs in that one day. They have to hit every single beat of this

production with absolute precision. It involves choreography, you have

to sing at the same time, you've got to be fit. Certainly for these lads,

it's going to be a phenomenal life-changing experience.

I've just recently done it. I always felt that the Performers save their

energy for the second show. But that's not true. By the time the

second show comes around in the evening you are completely

knackered. You have to look after your body, your voice and your mind.

The buzz of theatre is that it's live. It's one take. Every time you

step on a stage, the audience need to feel like it's your very first

performance. You are right there and you have a thousand people staring

right at you. You want to see them smiling, laughing, crying. And you

know what, when you do that and when you do it well, there's nothing that

can top that in the entire world. Put down your phone,

step away from your laptops because the vote is,

cue dramatic pause... Please do not try and vote as it

won't count and you may be charged. Now, you're probably wondering

where the judges have gone. Graham is getting a loose permanent.

There's water dripping in here. My goodness. I hope it doesn't turn

into a... Flood. Nightmare for loose perms.

great. Great. Robbie, what is it like being back with the lads? It

was and always is very emotional, seeing what it means to everybody.

Incredible. Very emotional. Proper tears. Only because I'm on telly

that I'm not welling up. I'm go back to the dressing room and go boo-hoo.

Mark, you've been watching our boys from the start, what do you think

What do you make of them? We have got to know them quite well. I feel

sort of forlorn now, they are all waiting for the result. I'm happy

for any of them to be on our stage, to be honest. I think all of them

could do it. Ladies and gentlemen, show your appreciation for Take

OK, we're only moments away from finding out which band of five

boys will win that incredible role of a lifetime.

But before we do, let's hear one final time from our boys.

Nightfall being in the final is a dream come true. Everyone's made

such great bonds. The guys are amazing. We have become close as a

band and we get along so well and we are strong together. I'd never had

brothers and now I have four of them. This competition's really

taught me a lot. It's helped me in more ways than I can imagine.

Getting the choreography right and performing for Gary Barlow has been

an amazing experience. Yen Nightfall first performed together, it was the

best moment of my life. Winning this competition would mean

so much and that end prize of a role in the musical, it's just so close.

It's literally a star away now. Two sing-offs has made us stronger,

fact. It's been well deserved. We put in the bottom two, when you look

at it, in a way. It's not been straightforward but I wouldn't

change it. To make the band work, it needs that friendship and the fact

we have clicked so well makes your life easier. You perform with your

friends rather than put on an act. Everyone has a part in the band and

I feel that's why the judges didn't leave anyone out. Starting to see a

lot of different things with me that I didn't know before and the guys

are helping me with my confidence an it's great to have that. I don't

want to sell the ice-creams, I would rather live the dream in a musical

eight shows a week. Please... I've never experienced anything like

this before in my life and I've loved every minute of it. When I

first met the Boyce we were all so different. I didn't know if we'd

become as close as we have. We love each other. We are a proper group

and best of friends. After the first performance of oom-bop, we felt like

a band and that was magical. Performing on stage with Five To

Five, I can't explain the feeling. We have worked so well together,

come together and become really good friends. When on stage and the boys

are behind me, I know they have my back. It's been ultimately the best

experience of my life and to crown it is winners and send us on that

tour would just be a dream. We're about to reveal the winner

of Let it Shine, so let's welcome Now it's time to reveal,

which band has won Let it Shine and will get that amazing role

in the musical, The Band. This could be a career

defining moment. If that star lights up,

you've won that incredible prize So, for the last time,
