-A while back, I was in my local...

-..the Farmers in Llanfihangel.

-It was a Sunday afternoon.

-It's a small village.

-We met friends

-to enjoy a Sunday pint.

-It was a Bank Holiday weekend.

-The vicar walked in.

-She was angry.

-She said...

-"..Stand up if you

-want to go to heaven when you die."

-I had a shock. We all stood up.

-But one man remained seated.

-He'd had one too many.

-She went over to him like a tornado.

-"Don't you want to go to heaven

-when you die?" she asked him.

-"Oh," he said. "When I die, yes.

-"I thought you wanted

-to take some of us up now."

-Llanfihangel is a small village.

-Do you know what

-I enjoy most of all?

-Chatting to the older folk...

-..and listening to their stories.

-Vicars have a hard time

-in Llanfihangel.

-My friend Meirion

-told me a good story.

-Back in the days

-of the horse and cart...

-..the vicar was out walking.

-A cart had tipped over, and

-hay was strewn all over the place.

-A young lad tried to get

-the load back on the cart.

-The vicar arrived.

-"It's hot, son," he said.

-"Sit down awhile,

-and then I'll help you."

-"No," said the lad.

-"Daddy wouldn't like that."

-"Well," said the vicar.

-"Everybody needs a break.

-Would you like a drop of water?"

-"No. Daddy wouldn't like that."

-He carried on, flat out.

-The vicar began to lose his temper.

-"Look here," he said.

-"Your father treats you

-like a slave.

-"I'd say he's a very cruel man.

-"Where is he?

-I'll tell him what's what."

-The lad said, "Under the hay."

-The Cake

-Once, I had a cake

-On my tenth birthday

-It was the best cake I ever saw

-It had home-made cream

-And a thick layer of strawberry jam

-The cake was made

-By the skilful hands of Mam

-When I saw the cake

-I was very happy

-I took it to the lounge

-And showed it to Granddad

-But he was in the parlour

-Unloading on the commode

-From the smell, I could tell

-The load had arrived

-Granddad came back to the lounge

-His pants dragging on the floor

-I showed him the cake

-That was a big moment

-I put the cake on the chair

-But Granddad sat on it

-Making the damn thing flat

-Mam did her best

-Seeing how sad I was

-And tried to save the cake

-From Granddad's backside

-She put it back together,

-and tidied up the cream

-A lot of it was eaten

-When it was time for tea

-But that's not the end of the story

-No, believe me

-After sitting on the cake

-Granddad's piles were cured

-There was something in the cream,

-or in the strawberry jam

-That healed that affliction,

-according to Mam

-The doctor called

-He did, believe you me

-To do a close examination

-Of Granddad's backside

-He wore a rubber glove

-to protect himself a bit

-He grabbed two wooden spoons

-And a pot of Vaseline

-After the examination

-Before removing the rubber glove

-He scratched his head

-He came to the conclusion

-after four hours

-That there was a mysterious

-medication in the cake

-There's a moral to every story

-Be it long or short

-You can learn a lot

-So listen to me now

-I'll give you some advice,

-if you get that sad affliction

-A piece of Mam's cake

-Is better than any cream

-If you have no cake

-Full of strawberry jam

-Come to our house

-Mam has plenty

-She has been cooking

-since the break of day

-Yes, my friends, I have

-a surprise for you now

-You can taste it tonight

-It's in a blue box

-It's a big chocolate cake

-And it has a different taste

-I don't want to see any leftovers

-The chap felt sorry for him.

-He thought Meirion wasn't all there.

-He thought the least

-he could do was take him in.

-He said, "Come in.

-Have a whisky with me."

-Meirion put the rod down

-and they had a whisky.

-The chap thought...

-"..I'll have a chat with him."

-He said, "Fishing, are you?

-How many have you caught?"

-He put it down his trunks

-and walked round the beach.

-He looked a real dandy.

-He walked past all the ladies.

-After an hour,

-he returned to Gareth.

-He wasn't happy. The ladies

-hadn't taken any notice of him.

-Wyn said, "Gareth,
