Why do you reckon that the film has been such a success, Jennifer?

I think because, um, people like to watch other people succeed,

you know, after they've tried so hard.

What's the story about, for those of us who haven't seen the movie?

Well, in a nutshell, it's about a young girl, 18 years old,

who is a welder by day and a dancer by night, if you can believe that.

And her, her real dream is to become a, you know, a professional dancer.

And without giving away too much, is it a happy ending?

A reasonably happy ending? You're not going to tell me!

Go and see the movie, I guess.

-Now what have you done before Flashdance?

-Nothing, really.

Just high school productions and things like that.

-Well, it's a heck of a break, isn't it?

-Yeah. Yes.

What follows next?

Um, the only thing I'm really sure of right now is school,

that I'll be going back to Yale in September.

There are lots of different projects coming under the door but I'm
