World News, with David Muir. Welcome. Tonight, direct hit. The

monster hurricane making landfall. Millions of Americans bracing for

flooding. And the tourists trapped. Also, wildfires. We are on the front

lines. And the manhunt underway. A cop killer, armed and dangerous.

Investigators say he is a coward, we will find you. And caught on tape.

They show up on your front door posing as maids. And this is what

they do once inside. You will see the video tonight and the new

warning, right here. Good evening. We begin this evening

with that huge hurricane smashing ashore. You can see it over my

shoulder. Tonight, millions of Americans are on alert. Spotting

monster waves, it was a direct hit on the popular resort on the Mexican

peninsular. A category three, Americans trapped there. It flipped

this car, boats also capsized. Inside, tourists huddled in

stairwells. One man holding his head in his hands. Tonight, the new

concern in the US. The south`west bracing forecasting winds and

floods. Hurricane Odile barrelled in with

winds of up to 125 mph. Life`threatening winds and rain.

Many tourists were stranded. Mandy and her husband wrote up a storm

last night in their hotel. The car was completely flipped over on its

side. The cars looked like they were bumper cars during the worst of the

storm. Today, she showed us the destruction left in Odile's wake.

Yesterday, these were all people watching NFL games before the storm

hit. Even the tops of palm trees shredded. Stripped of all their

leaves. This man is on his honeymoon. He and his wife spent the

night with hundreds of other guests in a shelter at the resort. It

wasn't the greatest way to spend the last night of our honeymoon. The

storms were intense outside. You could hear the wind roaring, stuff

knocking on doors. Odile is the strongest hurricane on record to

keep this area. It is evident everywhere, especially outside

fortified resorts. Emergency shelters were set up to hold around

30,000 people. Residents returning to their homes found little left.

TRANSLATION: When we arrived everything was destroyed. Powerlines

and poles littered the streets. Roofs torn off houses, many homes

flattened. Although the storm has moved north, cleanup and rebuilding

will take much longer. Another hurricane heading towards

New Mexico. It will continue to weaken overnight. The moisture will

reach Arizona with flash floods posted for Arizona and New Mexico.

2`4 inches of rainfall is possible. Will it be enough to help the fires
