is frozen and another storm is descending. Families dodge falling

ice. Epic traffic jams. Football stars and fans prove that they are

tougher than snow. Dangerous drugs. A new alert about the prescription

drugs in your medicine cabinet. Mandela's moment. World leaders from

every corner of the globe flight into South Africa to celebrate his

extraordinary life, so how do you keep them safe?

Good evening. We start the week together with a new storm and 8

Americans facing a wintry mess. Take a look at the BDO coming into us. A

stuck in your car, here are some tips that can save your life. Make

sure it is clear of mud and snow or you would get carbon monoxide

poisoning. The emergency kit is important and you have to keep it

fresh. Finally, stay in your car. Do not go wandering. Idling uses half a

gallon of gas per hour, a 15 gallon tank could last up to 60 hours. ``

preparations are intense, and with good reason. The world has never

seen a gathering of leaders like this one, flying in from more than

three of his predecessors. It has the American ambassador scrambling.

They are all coming at us. Mandela's passing is a global event

but it is also personal. Today his daughter spoke to the BBC about his

last moments, surrounded by his wife, and his family. The children

were there, the grandchildren were there.

Mandela touched so many so deeply. This afternoon, we met a young

entrepreneur in a town near Pretoria. He built his internet cafe

with his own hands, despite the desperate poverty. He dreams big.

You can feel it here at this spontaneous memorial outside

Mandela's home. Tomorrow at the unprecedented gathering of people

from around the world, the whole world will say goodbye.

From South Africa we now head to some strange pictures out of North

Korea. The nation has confirmed a shakeup at the very top. A kind of

deadly family feud. Kim Jong`un has ousted his uncle and then tour, who

was considered the powerplay in the shadows. `` mentor. He was hauled

away, accused of corruption, womanising and a so`called

capitalist lifestyle. The man was never far from his nephew and you

can see him in photos right there, just a few feet away. But look again

because, tonight, his image has been scrubbed out of those official

photos. Now, Hakea, a top doctor's group has a new warning about

prescription painkillers. `` now, here. All of this for us and what it

means. The danger is sitting right there in your medicine cabinet. They

are largely fuelled by the large rise in prescription painkillers and

are killing more Americans per year than car accidents. Accidental

overdoses from prescription painkillers have quadrupled in just

a decade. One reason, doctors are prescribing more and more of these

medications and we can't seem to stop taking them. In fact, almost

all of abused a medications the start as legitimate prescriptions.

Then a growing number of addicts take pills from their friends

cabinets or buy extra pills. Expect to see fewer pills per

prescription, a mandatory visit to the doctor to get a renewal and more

will `` and no more prescriptions over the phone. This is a problem

because we never throw pills away. Go to the medicine cabinet and get

rid of the pain medicines or sleeping pills that you no longer

use. But don't just throw them away or flush them away or flushed down

the toilet. The police department might have a drop box or put your

pills in a Ziploc bag, add some water and you can throw it away and

you will know nobody will get to it. At least this is the beginning of

addressing the problem. It's a part of it.

We like to tell you about changing tastes in America. Tonight, the diet

soda craze might be losing its fears. We look at a sign of the

times at what we are drinking instead.

New sales figures suggest our love affair with diet soft drinks might

have lost its pop. Sales have been dropping. The past three, the

drop`off in diet soda has been deeply than regular soft drinks.

Zero and low`calorie soft drinks down 7% this year. Regular down just

2%. We used to drink regular and then say, I'm drinking diet, it s

then say, I'm drinking diet, it's fine. But these days it's becoming a

confession in this office. I need generally OK but I do drink diet

soda. Drinking sugarfree soda does not guarantee weight loss. One study

found people who drank more than two diet soft drinks per day had their

waist size or five times faster than those who drank no soft rings. It

it now because I am afraid of getting back in there. Industry

said: The biggest growth these days is

energy drinks. And good old`fashioned water. Water is the

best. Right here, with so many of us on

the road slipping and sliding into a holiday headache, how do you can

this time, we would have been jailed. You look blacks are you

would have been jailed. He calls this time sweet sorrow for South

Africans. Their guiding light is gone. But while here, Nelson Mandela

used his gifts in the game and changed the world.
