News. The death of Joan Rivers. Words of

an investigation. Our interview with the comic legend. What she said

about Johnny Carson and taking the inside her New York apartment. One

of the most wanted man in the world. Who is the American man

helping ISIS with their terror Pontsticill reservoir is he behind

so many of their videos `` with their terror? And is he behind so

many of their videos. A shark attack video in which two women were

attacked in their kayaks. We will see what happens next.

Good evening. We do begin with the headline that broke this afternoon,

we learned that Joan Rivers, the Queen of comedy has died at the age

of 81 after going into cardiac arrest a week ago. Tributes are

pouring in from fellow comedians and her fans. For five decades, she

wielded her wit like a weapon and told us her biggest break was her

gig on Johnny Carson. Tonight, we are hearing from her daughter that a

new investigation is under way. What Joan Rivers told me about Johnny

Carson and the moment the friendship was lost. Now we go to our

correspondent. Joan Rivers was admitted here

exactly one week ago. She remained on life support and surrounded by

family and friends and till the very end. `` until. Her only daughter

broke the news of her mother's debt in a statement this afternoon,

sharing the following. Her daughter, senior returning home this evening.

Just hours before, news that an investigation was launched into this

Manhattan clinic where Joan Rivers went into cardiac arrest during a

routine outpatient procedure. They are looking into the unanswered

questions of just what happened. Although there have been no evidence

of wrongdoing, a separate autopsy will be conducted. Fans and friends

now sharing their condolences. Ellen DeGeneres tweeted the following.

Louis C.K. Said that he looked up to her and loved her. Her funeral is

scheduled for this Sunday in New York. No words on whether or not it

will be public but she said she always wanted it to be a huge

showbiz affair. I sat down with Joan Rivers not long

ago and she revealed the private pain behind her broken friendship

with Johnny Carson. We will never forget her allowing us backstage

here in New York City where she performed. Much of America first saw

her on Ed Sullivan. She emerged from behind the curtain nearly 50 years

ago. Weren't you pregnant? Yes and you weren't allowed to say it. It

was breaking ground. It was. Hers was a groundbreaking and sometimes

backbreaking journey. This is where my career has come to. She invited

us to her New York City apartment. Photographed everywhere. I usually

don't let people come up. I must have been very sad or very drunk.

She took us back to her first days on the Tonight Show with Johnny

Carson. I was the first permanent guest host, man, woman or child. And

that gig would lead to another offer to do comedy on another network. I

called him and told him and he hung up on me. Never spoke to me again.

Her show was soon over and so was her friendship with Johnny Carson.

As she struggled publicly, her husband struggled privately, taking

his life in 1987. I am still not over his suicide. I am still furious

with him. I'll kill him if I meet him in heaven. A

was offered to her, up against Oprah in the Emmy's. Two years ago, I

could not get a job in this business. It was my husband who

always said, you can turn things around. Later she was on the red

carpet, asking and talking openly about her multiple

plastic surgeries and how she explained it in the beginning. My

eyes were black and blue and I was carrying my daughter. But people

would ask the what happened to me and I said the baby punched me in

the eyes and they bought it! People were so stupid in those days. And it

turned out, behind all of that humour, humility. I am proud of

nothing. I am swimming upstream. If you don't do what you want to do,

you are a fool. Joan Rivers sitting down with us and Barbara Walters

with us now. Was she the same privately as she was publicly?

Publicly she would say anything, all the things women wanted to say and

perhaps didn't. By that late, she was very elegant with a house full

of antiques `` privately. If she had any idea about all of these tributes

coming in, what would she make of it? To know that she had this kind

of an audience, I think she would have been smiling. I will miss her.

Moving onto other breaking news. The international manhunt for American

man and the question as to whether he is the mastermind behind the ISIS

videos. Now we go to our correspondent.

for an American who may have helped to create some of the graphic videos

of battles, executions, even child recruits.

All rolled out on Twitter, Facebook and other sites. Like some slick

American media campaign. ISIS understands that for an act of

terrorism to be effective, it needs to actually terrorise people, which

is why law enforcement officials told us they are focusing on this

former college student from Boston. He is believed to be one of the

architects of the ISIS social media strategy. He was put on the FBI's

most wanted terrorist last year, with this description posted online.

He has a thin build and a high`pitched voice. This into a

recording of his voice. `` listen now to a recording. He is the son of

a prominent doctor. He went on to north`eastern university where he

studied computer technology. The very skills authority say he is

using now. The internet campaign authorities say he helped engineer,

with its horrifying images, has been vital to the ability of ISIS to

capture the world's attention and get new recruits from the US and

elsewhere. It has energised their base. They feel they are now finally

in a confrontation with the US. That is exactly what the FBI says he

wanted to do when he fled this country and became a fugitive in

Syria. Fight and kill his fellow Americans.

Now to the severe weather on the move at this hour. Take a look at

the weather wall tonight. Strong weather moving in across the

midwest. We are getting pictures of flash floods in North Carolina.

Inside the vehicle, a mother and son trapped. Later rescued. Ginger is

tracking the storms and the hurricane gaining strength tonight.

Severe storms shredding the northern great Lakes. Winds of up to 84 mph

left this mess. The haunting clouds creeping across the horizon. Golf

ball sized hail. And too much rain. One inch falling in six minutes. The

hail wounding crops and cars. In South Carolina, up to four inches of

rain overtaking the streets and this vehicle. I didn't even see the

water, I just started flowing. Her five`year`old was inside.

Firefighters pulling them to safety. The grace of God kept our say.

Ginger is tracking the hurricane. We are watching it. Check this out.

Winds of up to 90 mph. They will get close to LA but high surf will be

the only thing we will see. Up to eight feet. Even potentially a

bigger issue will be the monsoon. Thank you. Moving onto the

developing Headline. Tonight, the justice

department has said it will launch an investigation into the police

practices in Ferguson to determine whether the predominantly white

police force has a pattern of discrimination. Late word of a

verdict in the case involving the one`time rising star in politics.

Bob McDonnell on trial for taking money in gifts and spending it with

his wife. `` McDonald. They had dreams of being president

and first lady but denied they are convicted felons. They were found

guilty of trading their power and prestige luxury gifts and cash.

Accused of giving the owner of a diet company special access to

government, in exchange for rights in a Ferrari, a Rolex watch, a

shopping spree and tens of thousands of dollars. They once sold

themselves as the ideal political couple. He carried her over the

threshold of the governor's mansion. But in court he painted the picture

of a broken marriage that left him spiritually and mentally exhausted.

So bad, he said, there were barely speaking and could therefore not

have conspired to accept favours. In court he smiled. When the verdict

was read he sobbed. They face decades in prison.

Pictures now of the experiment at a Science Museum that went terribly

wrong. Children were running and screaming when a chemical explodes

in front of their eyes. More than 12 were hurt by the explosion and

tonight officials say that during the experiment the museum attendant

poured the chemicals into the wrong container.

Out of the case that made national headlines. The father accused of

leaving his young son in a hot car to die `` to die. That father has

been indicted for murder. Prosecutors here don't believe for a

second that it was an accident. They convinced a jury today to charge the

father with three different murder charges and other offences for

leaving his son in his steaming vehicle. He could be fighting for

his life. Prosecutors told me they will decide soon if they will try

for the death penalty. Probably in the next two or three weeks. Police

say he left his son in the SUV outside his office also rural hours

while he was inside sending lewd pictures to women who were not his

wife. One of them just 17. Police say he knew of hot car could kill,

after watching these safety videos just days before his son died. If

you see a child left alone in a vehicle, called 911. Outside the

courthouse, his lawyers kept stressing the young father is not

guilty and that he simply forgot to drop his son off at daycare. He is

doing terrible. He has lost his son, his livelihood, his freedom. A

bond hearing in July saw him pull into this parking lot in a panic.

They say he looked devastated. I heard the desperate cries of a

father who just lost his son. One thing that didn't happen, there were

no charges against his wife. She has always maintained she and her

husband are innocent and that they suffered a terrible loss.

Thank you. The headline this evening about the

advert `` third American infected with Ebola. The doctor from Boston

is headed to Nebraska and expected to arrive tomorrow.

And obituary this evening. Last night we showed you the American

workers making those glasses. They are determined to keep creating new

jobs. Within minutes, they tell us so many of you have gone to their

website, their website crashing in four minutes. They say they were

flooded with orders. Five times as many last night as they normally see

in an entire day. Still much more ahead.

The shark attack. Two young women and their 911 call

from the water. The great white that suddenly takes a bite out of their

kayak, flipping both of them. And Google paying back parents

across America. If your children racked up huge bills downloading

applications, what we learnt from that. And what an air plane pilot

did to get the spectacular pictures. All of the passengers grabbing their

cameras. You will see it right here. Next, two young kayakers and their

dramatic Massachusetts when suddenly a great

white shark takes a bite out of their kayak.

Picture`perfect late summer's evening. Two women out in their

kayak is just off the coast of Massachusetts when the great white

shark attack. The women were in the water when they called 911.

The operator told them to hang on, help is on the way.

Luckily the shark did not come back and the pair made it to shore on

harm. But look at the giant teeth marks in the kayak and this giant

hole in the paddle. Back on dry land, they recalled the terror. We

didn't know where it came from, we didn't see anything. We didn't know

if it would come back. I'm screaming for help. The sightings of great

white sharks are on the rise. The population is booming, especially in

the north`east. Days ago, of another Massachusetts beach, this shark was

seen from a police helicopter, prompting lifeguards to clear the

beach. Later, this quote was inscribed in the sand. After this

quote encounter, the two women are not eager to get back in the water.

I don't think Irbil kayak again. Never? I might. `` I will ever.

Tonight, a little payback for mum and dad. Google has agreed to pay at

least $90 million to refund parents whose children racked up all of

those charges downloading mobile apps without getting permission

first. And have a look at this. That volcano in Iceland. The pilot of a

passenger jet decides to take this `` take the scenic route, so the

passengers can get a better look. The airline says that for once

nobody was complaining about the delay.

Five famous faces singled out this evening for their lifetime

contribution to American culture, including Lily Tomlin, making us

Tonight, Joan Rivers in her own words. As only she could do, she

describes grand plans for her own farewell, using her trademark humour

as she said she wanted to go out in style.

When I die, and yes this will happen, yes, everything is still in

my name, I want my funeral to be a huge showbiz affair with lights and

cameras and action. I want craft services, paparazzi, publicist

making a scene. I want it to be Hollywood all the way. Don't give me

some rabbi rambling on, I want Meryl Streep crying in five different

accents. I want to look gorgeous, better dead than I do live. I want

to be buried in a gallon. `` gown. I want a wind machine that even in the

casket my hair will be blowing more than Beyonce's on stage.
