The number of dead in the twin attacks in Norway rises to 92.

Nearly all were killed when a gunman ran amok on an island summer

camp. Police are searching for more victims.

He started shooting at every single person, they were crying and

screaming. People were falling over A 32-year-old Norwegian is charged.

He's believed to have links to extreme right-wing groups. Norway's

Prime Minister says the attacks are beyond comprehension, but urges the

country not to cave into fear. And, remanded in custody, the nurse

charged over the deaths of five Norway's Prime Minister says his

country's way of life has been abused and attacked. More than 90

people are now known to have died yesterday, seven in a car bomb in

central Oslo, but the vast majority shot indiscriminately at a summer

camp for young people on the island of Utoeya. Jon Sopel joins us now

from Oslo. Flags are flying at half mast.

People are wandering around the City somewhat bewildered by what

has unfolded. There is broken glass on the streets. None of this

captures the magnitude of the scale of the shock felt by the Norwegian

people. Our first Report has some disturbing images.

Gradually, the survivors are brought back from the island.

Traumatised and probably scarred for life, they are the lucky ones.

They are still alive. This is the beautiful island retreat, Utoeya,

which area hosts a summer camp for hundreds of teenagers around the

country. Earlier it seemed so perfect. The young members of the

governing Labour Party gathered for days of political discussion and

fun. But suddenly, yesterday afternoon, they were fleeing for

their lives, hiding in the woods and buildings, as a man dressed as

a police officer went on a shooting spree. Some have tried to swim away.

But the cold water and distance forced most back to face the gunman

with his automatic rifle once more. Many people died and I just had to

shield myself behind them and pray he would not see me. I could feel

his breath, I could feel the warmth from the barrel of the gun. But I

did not move and that is what saved my life. Other survivors arriving

back from the island described how they had been deceived by the gun

man's police uniform. TRANSLATION: People were jumping out of windows

and running in all directions, terrified for their lives. Most

people ran towards the water, hiding behind stones and hills. He

was dressed as a policeman, assuring he was helping us, saying,

come here. He had a rifle to shoot at us, it was chaos.

For most, caught up in the violence, it felt an eternity before police

special forces finally came to the rescue. That was partly because so

many police were still dealing with this. The aftermath of a huge car

bomb detonated in front of the main government buildings in central

Oslo. Detonating mid- afternoon yesterday, it killed and maimed in

the heart of a capital known for its tranquillity. This is the man

Norwegian media say has now been charged in connection with both

attacks. A 32-year-old called Anders Breivik. He is alleged to

hold extreme nationalist and Christian views. It is not clear if

he was acting alone. Today, the Prime Minister came here to the

area near the island where the survivors had been taken. To

reassure, comfort and deliver a strong message.

TRANSLATION: Of we must take control of Utoeya and show young

people can be engaged, that young people can be trusted in society in

debating politics, and those who try to scare us shall not win.

But still, the grief and shock continue. Heightened by the news

that many young people are still missing. So, people here in this

community as in the rest of the country are still waiting to find

out exactly how many people were killed in the shooting incident.

They also want to know why would a gunman opened fire on young people

enjoying a summer camp in a beautiful location like this.

As we've heard, police have charged, a 32-year-old Norwegian man with

both attacks. Who is he a what drove him to such carnage?

Coming to terms with Norway's tragedy. Now the hard questions.

How could such a tranquil society produce such wilful carnage? The

suspect in custody has been named by a Norwegian media as a Anders

Breivik. 32 years old, born and grew up in Norway, he has been

charged with acts of terrorism. is not known by the police before.

So, we have not arrested him before or anything like that. On his

website as you have probably seen, he calls himself a Christian and

going to the right. Police searched the suspects apartment within hours

of the shooting, hunting for clues. They are starting to build up a

picture of a man with deeply intolerant views towards

immigration and what he saw as his government's lax policies. His

networking page on Facebook only recently set up names his interests

as body-building and freemasonry. His account on Twitter posts in a

quote from John Stuart Mill saying, one person with a belief is equal

to the force of 100,000 who have only interests. Police also

searched the farm he set up outside Oslo to grow fruit and vegetables.

It is alleged he bought six tons of fertiliser, a possible explosive

ingredient. In the shattered centre of the Norwegian capital, the Army

has been deployed. Britain amongst other nations has offered

intelligence help. Now this appears to be a case of home-grown

political extremism, it is more a case of what others can learn from

Norway's tragedy. We will want to make sure we learn any lessons

there are about how to be more secure against horrific outrages

like this. That is something we can discuss at the National Security

Council on Monday. For Norway, there is now a burning question.

Were these the axe of a lone fanatic or are there other right-

wing extremists waiting to copy his bloody example? Steve Rosenberg

joins us. You've been able to get close to the island. What did you

see? A police but would not let us get

any closer but we could clearly see body bags still on the island. I

counted eight body-bags there. And you could see divers in the lake,

searching for more bodies, a sign that the death toll could well

increase. How are people coping there?

It is an enormous shock for people in this village. Especially for the

holiday makers. This is a popular holiday destination in Norway. I

spoke to some people on an island nearby who heard the shots bringing

out yesterday. They jumped on a boat to help rescue people. An

enormous shock, especially that this massacre was carried out not

by international terror groups but by a Norwegian citizen.

Hill Hospital in Stockport, has been remanded in custody. Rebecca

Leighton appeared at Manchester Magistrates Court this morning.

She's alleged to have tampered with medical products, at the hospital.

evening, A41 year-old man remains in a critical condition in hospital.

Rebecca Leighton appeared at Manchester magistrates court

earlier today. During that hearing, she faced seven charges. They go as

follows, three counts of criminal damage with intent to endanger life,

three counts of criminal damage being reckless as to whether life

is endangered. They relate to the deaths of five patients. Family and

friends gathered at the court appearance to see what would happen,

including her boy friend. She was originally arrested on suspicion of

murder on Wednesday. Police say four patients received saline

contaminated with insulin which can lead to low blood sugar levels in

patients. Post mortem examinations are still being carried out to

establish the cause of death. Rebecca Leighton was remanded in

custody to appear at the Crown Court on 1st August.

The judge who will lead the inquiry into phone hacking, has told the

Prime Minister and the Lord Chief Justice that he has attended

meetings with Rupert Murdoch's son- in-law. Downing Street sources have

confirmed that Lord Justice Leveson met Matthew Freud while he was

chairman of the sentencing council which advises the government on

sentencing policy. A high speed train in eastern China

has been derailed, with two carriages falling off a bridge into

a river. The train was travelling from the

city of Hangzhou to Wenzhou when the derailment happened.

A rally's been held, in Derby to urge the government to rethink its

decision to give a major rail contract to a foreign company.

Thousands took part, following the announcement by the train maker

Bombardier that it's planning to cut 1,400 jobs in the city. The

company lost the lucrative deal to build carriages for the new

Thameslink rail service to the German firm, Siemens.

A look at today's sport. India are struggling in reply to

England's total of 478 at Lord's. They are currently 224 for five, on

the third day of the first Test. Stuart Broad justified his

selection by dismissing both openers, and the prized wicket of

Sachin Tendulkar who was looking to score his 100th, international

century. The new Scottish Premier League

season is underway and title holders Rangers fought back from a

goal down to draw 1-1 with Hearts. David Obua put Hearts ahead. But

Rangers equalised through the head of Steven Naismith.

Red Bull's Mark Webber will start, on pole position, at tomorrow's

German Grand Prix, after finishing first in qualifying. McLaren's

Lewis Hamilton drove a superb lap to take second place, with

championship leader Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull in third.

McLaren's Jenson Button finished seventh.
