Britain have started operating armed droned aircraft over Afghanistan for

the first time from British soil. The Ministry of Defence said that

#k7 reaper drones are operated by remote control from a base in

Lincolnshire Here is our Defence Correspondent. RAF personnel used to

fly the Reaper aircraft remotely from Creech Air Force Base in

Nevada. In October of last year, the RAF created 13 squadron based at RAF

Waddington, including pilot, systems operators and engineers. Now

piloting missions over Afghanistan from Lincolnshire. The RAF's Reaper

drones are used for surveillance and reconnaissance. They are piloted

remotely but launched and landed with human help at Kandahar air

base. The UK is doubling the number of Reapers to ten. They can carry

bombs and Hellfire missiles for strikes on insurgents by the flight

crew under strict British rules of engagement. We are not out to kill

bad guys in the Yemen or Pakistan, this is supporting British troops

and Afghan nation rebuilding. CND and the drone campaign network

and the Stop the War Coalition are aiming to campaign. They say that

this marks a critical expansion in the nation's drone programme.
