Good afternoon. It's been claimed that MI5 tried to

recruit one of the men who is suspected of murdering Drummer Lee

Rugby in Woolwich. A friend of Michael Adebolajo, who is under

armed guard in hospital, has told the BBC, he was approached by the

security services six months ago but refused to work for them.

June Kelly has this report. In Woolwich, the people are

continuing to reflect on this week's events, which convulsed this

community in south-east London. At the barracks where he was based,

Drummer Lee Rugby is remembered by those who knew him and many who did

not. Three days after the young soldier's savage death, there is

still an air of disbelief. The BBC's Newsnight programme broadcast an

interview with a man, who says he is a friend of one of the suspects in

the case. Claiming six months ago, the security service, MI5, tried to

recruit, Michael Adebolajo. He mentioned that they wanted to ask

him if he knew certain individuals. That was an issue. After him saying

that he did not know the individuals, and so forth, what he

said was he was asked if he was interested in working for them. He

did he refused. This claim is uncorroborated as is a further

allegations that Michael Adebolajo was threatened with sexual abuse

when he was arrested after he arrived in Kenya last year.

They beat him badly. His comment was, like an oath, saying that buy

God, he feels shy to describe what they did to him.

In a development shortly after he recorded the interview, that man was

arrested on the premises by officers from Scotland Yard. He is held on

suspicions of terrorism offences, said not to be linked to the

soldier's death. Meanwhile, Michael Adebolajo and the second suspect,

shot by 9 police at the scene are under arrest at separate hospitals.

They are being treated for their injuries. A third man is arrested on

dust din on suspicion of murder. Searches are still ongoing. This is

believed to be the home of a suspect suspect, a relative of Michael

Adebolajo. The gathering of potential evidence could go on for

some time. June joins me now. Should we be surprised that MI5 approached

this man, apparently? No, but as I said in the piece, this claim is

uncorroborated. The security service, MI5 and the police have

thwarted a number of plots. They have only been able to do that with

the help from people close to these extremists, people who have access

to them, crucially. Obviously, what the security services hope is that

if they can get to some of the people in that community, in that

constituency, they can speak to them and hope they take another path and

then help them with the inquiries. Would this claim, would it become a

part of the overall investigation as too the access that the intelligence

services had to the men? I'm sure it will. We are hearing that a report

into the whole intelligence role will go to Parliament's intelligence

and the security Committee next week. The new Director-General is to

present that. After 7/7, there was criticism about the length of time

it took to get to the bottom of the intelligence role. So clearly this

time is that things should be done as quickly as possible.

Thu. A Government watchdog has warned

that billions of pounds of public money may be at risk due to problems

delivering more than 30 of the coalition's flagship policies,

including High Speed Two and Universal Credit.

The Major Projects Authority was set up in 2010 to shen thur that big

public projects are completed on time and on budget.

Alan Soady has this report. The changes to the benefit system are

the biggest in its history, but some changes with a warning from the

Government's own internal spending watchdog. Including Universal

Credit, which it is claimed is in danger of costing more money.

Ministers insist it is under control, saying that the figures are

out of date. A contractor by two new ar kraft carriers has been dogged by

delays. This report say there is is no hope of they will being on time

or on budget. The report shows that the difficulty

in the Government in getting big projects delivered. It is not knew,

but the urgency that is felt by the present administration is that they

have to get the projects delivered to secure growth. So they really

need to deliver the major infrastructure projects as part of

the economic revival. The plans to build High Speed Two is

another picked for a warning of a high risk of things becoming costly

or falling behind. The route linking London, Birmingham, Leeds,

Manchester, is expected to cost more than �30 billion. Critics want to

scrapped. It is among the 31 projects on the danger list in

today's report but ministers insist that it and many other high-sprend

projects are firmly on track. An investigation has again after a

zoo keeper was killed by a tiger at a wildlife park in Cumbria. Sarah

McClay, 24, was mauled in the big cat's enclosure at South Lakes Wild

Animal Park. She died later in hospital. The owner of the park

described Sarah McClay as a passionate and experienced worker.

The police in Pakistan say up to 15 children, some five years old have

been killed and ten others injured when a gas cylinder exploded on a
