on the internet, a day after rumours that he had been injured or killed.

The Home Office is to appoint a senior legal figure to re-examine

its own handling of child abuse allegations

The move comes amid fresh questions over what happened to

the dossier containing the allegations, which was handed to the

figure in charge is not enough for Labour We need a thorough review, it

needs to be a proper review which gets at all the facts about what

happened in the Home Office but we need something else. We need to get

child protection experts and others to draw together all of the lessons,

from what we have learned. Many a separate letter to the Home

Affairs Select Committee the permanent secretary has reminded

Parliament that last year's review found no record of specific

allegations, of child sex abuse by prominent public figures.

But with the backdrop of decades of abuse by Jimmy Savile and this

week's conviction of Rolf Harris, the Prime Minister is sensitive to
