North Korea is condemned after it launches a long-range rocket

:00:14.:00:15.

in defiance of international sanctions.

:00:16.:00:17.

The Communist state calls it a satellite launch -

:00:18.:00:19.

but critics say this was a missile test, just weeks

:00:20.:00:21.

As junior doctors in England prepare for another strike over

:00:22.:00:24.

a new contract, there is no sign of compromise with the Government.

:00:25.:00:27.

The totally irresponsible way the BMA has behaved in refusing

:00:28.:00:34.

to sit down and talk about how we can improve patient care.

:00:35.:00:37.

I wouldn't trust him to sell me a used car,

:00:38.:00:40.

let alone hold my future and, more, importantly my patients' future

:00:41.:00:42.

And the Super Bowl is 50 - California prepares to host one

:00:43.:00:49.

of the world's biggest and richest sporting events.

:00:50.:01:10.

There's been international condemnation of North Korea after it

:01:11.:01:14.

launched a long-range rocket in defiance of United

:01:15.:01:17.

The secretive Communist state claims the launch was of a satellite,

:01:18.:01:22.

but last month it said it had tested a hydrogen bomb and many countries

:01:23.:01:28.

believe it's developing a long-range nuclear missile programme.

:01:29.:01:31.

Our Asia correspondent, John Sudworth, sent this report.

:01:32.:01:40.

This morning, over the Korean peninsula, the rocket's engines

:01:41.:01:42.

could be seen running into the clear, blue sky.

:01:43.:01:46.

It is reported to have successfully placed a satellite into orbit.

:01:47.:01:52.

News met with choreographed applause in the North Korean

:01:53.:01:54.

State television is showing the country's young leader,

:01:55.:02:01.

Kim Jong Un, at mission control, vital

:02:02.:02:08.

propaganda for a man trying to cement his position

:02:09.:02:10.

In South Korea, the government held an emergency meeting

:02:11.:02:16.

with the President, leading a chorus of international concern,

:02:17.:02:18.

TRANSLATION: The launch is an attempt to increase

:02:19.:02:27.

North Korea's missile capability as a means

:02:28.:02:29.

It is a serious challenge to world peace.

:02:30.:02:35.

North Korea's previous rocket launchers have already shown

:02:36.:02:37.

that the West Coast of the United States

:02:38.:02:40.

And its nuclear tests have been growing in sophistication.

:02:41.:02:50.

Experts believe a deliverable, long-range weapon maybe

:02:51.:02:52.

The accelerated development of North Korea's nuclear

:02:53.:03:01.

and ballistic missile programme poses a serious

:03:02.:03:02.

threat to international peace and security.

:03:03.:03:08.

To the peace and security not just of neighbours but the entire world.

:03:09.:03:18.

Tonight, North Korea's only ally, China, has been celebrating its

:03:19.:03:25.

lunar New Year festival in traditional explosive style. But

:03:26.:03:30.

diplomatically, it is treading very softly indeed. The statement from

:03:31.:03:35.

the Foreign Ministry in Beijing was not one of condemnation but rather

:03:36.:03:40.

an appeal for constraint on all sides. China fears a nuclear armed

:03:41.:03:46.

North Korea as much as anyone but it is also deeply nervous that, if

:03:47.:03:52.

anything, it might push its isolated, impoverished neighbour to

:03:53.:03:56.

economic collapse. The launch today takes not career one more step

:03:57.:04:01.

towards its nuclear ambitions. John Sudworth, BBC news, Beijing.

:04:02.:04:07.

Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt has accused the doctors' union,

:04:08.:04:09.

the BMA, of totally irresponsible behaviour in its handling

:04:10.:04:12.

of the dispute over a new contract for junior doctors in England.

:04:13.:04:14.

Talks over changes to weekend working have broken down

:04:15.:04:17.

and a 24-hour strike involving everything except emergency care

:04:18.:04:19.

Our political correspondent Eleanor Garnier reports.

:04:20.:04:29.

In full voice this weekend, but despite months of talks,

:04:30.:04:33.

junior doctors are still out of tune with

:04:34.:04:37.

The disputes about pay and working hours following

:04:38.:04:41.

government plans to change some NHS contracts in England.

:04:42.:04:45.

Now, the Health Secretary has accused the doctors' union,

:04:46.:04:48.

the BMA, of being iresponsible and misleading.

:04:49.:04:51.

One of the reasons for that anger, and

:04:52.:04:55.

there is anger, is because they were told by the BMA that their pay

:04:56.:04:58.

They were told that they were going to be

:04:59.:05:02.

They aren't, we are actually bringing

:05:03.:05:05.

And if you are told by your union that the Health Secretary wants

:05:06.:05:10.

to do these awful things, of course you will

:05:11.:05:12.

But junior doctors on the front line said it was nonsense

:05:13.:05:16.

to suggest their union was misinforming them.

:05:17.:05:19.

There is not a grassroots doctor in the country who believes

:05:20.:05:22.

the words the Health Secretary says any more and that is because we have

:05:23.:05:27.

heard him spin and manipulate and distort the statistics

:05:28.:05:30.

and the facts time and again for his own political agenda.

:05:31.:05:34.

Last month, doctors walked out on a 24-hour strike.

:05:35.:05:37.

Planned industrial action two weeks ago was called off

:05:38.:05:44.

as talks continued, but with no agreement,

:05:45.:05:46.

this Wednesday's strike in England is still on.

:05:47.:05:50.

It believes its plans for a seven-day

:05:51.:05:55.

week NHS are popular with the public but both sides are really digging

:05:56.:05:59.

The sticking point - do you pay doctors more for working

:06:00.:06:10.

on a Saturday, and if you do, at what point should those payments

:06:11.:06:13.

Hanging over these negotiations, the threat that the Health Secretary

:06:14.:06:17.

will push ahead and impose the new contracts.

:06:18.:06:21.

There have been some concessions made by Government in the last few

:06:22.:06:25.

But if we cannot get a negotiated solution to this new junior doctor

:06:26.:06:31.

contract, I have said that he should not impose a new contract

:06:32.:06:35.

This row has come down to a dispute over working

:06:36.:06:42.

hours, but the fear is, without agreement, there could be

:06:43.:06:44.

Dozens of local Conservative associations have accused

:06:45.:06:52.

David Cameron of a lack of respect for grassroots party members,

:06:53.:06:57.

after he told MPs to disregard their views on the EU Referendum.

:06:58.:07:02.

In a letter to the Sunday Telegraph, the leaders of more than 40

:07:03.:07:05.

Conservative associations said it was deeply regrettable

:07:06.:07:07.

that the Prime Minister had dismissed their views.

:07:08.:07:14.

A review into Scotland Yard's handling of a rape allegation

:07:15.:07:16.

against the late Lord Brittan has concluded that the police

:07:17.:07:19.

were "fully justified" in carrying out an investigation.

:07:20.:07:21.

However, it identified a number of weaknesses in the way police

:07:22.:07:23.

acted, including a failure to record an interview with the peer.

:07:24.:07:32.

A 20-year-old man has emerged alive from the rubble of an apartment

:07:33.:07:35.

building in Taiwan, two days after it collapsed in an earthquake.

:07:36.:07:38.

At least 26 people are thought to have died and hopes are fading

:07:39.:07:41.

for more than 100 who are still missing.

:07:42.:07:43.

From Tainan in South Taiwan, Rupert Wingfield-Hayes

:07:44.:07:45.

Deep inside the collapsed building, this rescue crew is getting close.

:07:46.:08:04.

Hold on, they shout. We coming through. A few minutes later, a

:08:05.:08:10.

young man is lifted clear from the building and lowered gently to the

:08:11.:08:14.

ground. His condition is serious but he is still alive. This is the only

:08:15.:08:20.

bright spot in what has other being a grim day. This afternoon are

:08:21.:08:25.

rescue were urged holding a small bundle. A six-month-old baby girl.

:08:26.:08:31.

30 hours in the rubble had been too much. Soon after, she died. And

:08:32.:08:38.

still dozens more await news in growing despair. This woman's son is

:08:39.:08:45.

somewhere under the rubble. He is such a good boy, she says. He always

:08:46.:08:50.

thinks of me, he worries about me being lonely. The despair is mixed

:08:51.:08:57.

with anger. Why did this building come-down and those around it are

:08:58.:09:01.

unscathed? People are asking why this building came down and the

:09:02.:09:05.

others seem to have stirred up without any problem and there are

:09:06.:09:09.

clear signs of what might be wrong with this building. The collapse has

:09:10.:09:13.

exposed these blue and white cooking oil cans that appear to have been

:09:14.:09:18.

used as filler inside some of the concrete beams. Relatives as Pool

:09:19.:09:24.

two tonight say they want a full investigation into why this building

:09:25.:09:28.

came down and they want someone to be held responsible. Rupert

:09:29.:09:33.

Wingfield-Hayes, BBC News in Tainan city, Taiwan.

:09:34.:09:41.

In the Six Nations, Ireland faced Wales today.

:09:42.:09:43.

Karthi Gnanasegaram has news of that and the rest of the sport.

:09:44.:09:52.

Defending champions Ireland are aiming for a record third Six

:09:53.:09:55.

Nations title in a row, but they were held to a 16-all draw by Wales.

:09:56.:09:59.

There was a thrilling end to the match after Ireland let their 13

:10:00.:10:01.

point lead slip and Wales fought to the final whistle. Our

:10:02.:10:03.

correspondent, Andy Swiss, reports. Andre Gray skies, a wall of green.

:10:04.:10:09.

Dublin in deafening voice is arrogant set out in search of

:10:10.:10:13.

history. No team has ever won the hat-trick of Six Nations but they

:10:14.:10:18.

began with the confidence of champions, thanks to Jonny Sexton

:10:19.:10:24.

and a burst from Conor Murray. It is over! Ireland 13-0 up after one

:10:25.:10:33.

hour, what a start. Game over? Wales, especially Toby Faletau,

:10:34.:10:40.

muscled back. He comes away with it! And he scores. Not pretty but highly

:10:41.:10:47.

effective and after the break, Rhys Priestland levelled things, 13 all,

:10:48.:10:53.

who would hold their nerve? No one could hold anything for the well as

:10:54.:10:58.

both sides spilled opportunities and for all the attacking intent on

:10:59.:11:03.

show, defences held firm. The Priestland penalty edged Wales ahead

:11:04.:11:09.

but Sexton kept his cool and this time the deadlock was unbreakable.

:11:10.:11:13.

For both sides, frustration, mingling with relief. We put some

:11:14.:11:18.

pressure on and did not get those points and they built their way into

:11:19.:11:22.

the lead so in the end, you are reasonably believed to have escaped

:11:23.:11:28.

with the draw. I am glad we crawled back into the game and got that

:11:29.:11:32.

straw. To come back and the draw, that is not bad. Rugby at its

:11:33.:11:38.

tightest and most tense. The day with plenty of drama but,

:11:39.:11:41.

ultimately, no winner. Arsenal kept their Premier League

:11:42.:11:54.

title winning hopes alive with a 2-nil win over Bournemouth to move

:11:55.:11:56.

back up to third in the table. Goals from Mesut Ozil and Alex

:11:57.:11:58.

Oxlade-Chamberlain gave Arsenal their first League win in five games

:11:59.:12:01.

and moves them level on points with their North London rivals,

:12:02.:12:04.

Tottenham, who are in second place. And in the evening game Manchester

:12:05.:12:06.

United's Jesse Lingard scored a superb goal to bring their game

:12:07.:12:08.

against Chelsea to life in the 60th minute. But Diego Costa scored in

:12:09.:12:11.

the first of six minutes of Added time to give Chelsea a late

:12:12.:12:22.

equaliser. In the fifth round of the Scottish Cup, Hibernian came back

:12:23.:12:24.

from 2-nil down against Hearts to force a replay. Hearts scored both

:12:25.:12:27.

of their goals in the first half but a Jason Cummings header with 12

:12:28.:12:29.

minutes of the match remaining brought Hibs back in to it. Before

for an Olympic and Ryder Cup place this year after winning golf's Dubai

:12:48.:12:50.

Desert Classic Willett needed to make this 15 foot birdie putt on the

:12:51.:12:53.

18th hole to win - and he did. That gave him a final round of 69 and a

one shot win over fellow Englishman Andy Sullivan. Defending champion

and world number two, Rory McIlroy finished four strokes behind Willett
