27 high rise buildings around the country are now known to have | :00:22. | :00:28.
failed fire tests on their external cladding, according | :00:29. | :00:30.
Safety measures in thousands of buildings are being reviewed, | :00:31. | :00:40.
following the Grenfell Tower disaster. | :00:41. | :00:41.
Hundreds of people in north London spent the night in hotels | :00:42. | :00:44.
and emergency accommodation after Camden Council evacuated four | :00:45. | :00:46.
Our correspondent Keith Doyle is at the Chalcots estate. | :00:47. | :00:53.
Yes, there has been anger and confusion amongst the thousands of | :00:54. | :00:57.
residents here at the Chalcots Estate in North London, last night | :00:58. | :01:03.
they were told to leave, that their homes are not safe. | :01:04. | :01:06.
Why were we ordered to be evacuated at half past eight at night? After a | :01:07. | :01:14.
night of destruction and little sleep residents came face-to-face | :01:15. | :01:18.
with the leader of Camden Council. I am so absolutely stressed. Why were | :01:19. | :01:24.
hotels not looked at before we were all evacuated? I've sat in a chair | :01:25. | :01:29.
over here since nine o'clock last night and I'm 72 years old. I suffer | :01:30. | :01:37.
with emphysema. Now I'm being told they can't rehouse me because I got | :01:38. | :01:41.
a dog. What do they want me to do with my dog? Put it to sleep? Last | :01:42. | :01:47.
night the council took the decision based on a Fire Service advice that | :01:48. | :01:51.
the 4000 people living in the Chalcots Estate should be moved. | :01:52. | :01:56.
Some stayed in this sense on air beds and others were sent to hotels | :01:57. | :02:01.
and some decided to stay put. I really cried last night, I'm choked | :02:02. | :02:09.
up now, it is dreadful. Why are you so upset? They are saying we have | :02:10. | :02:14.
got to get out, the Council officials came to the door, banging | :02:15. | :02:18.
on the door, get out, get out, but the chap said, no, she's not going, | :02:19. | :02:24.
she's getting on for and Chicago anywhere, she's got a cat -- and | :02:25. | :02:30.
Chicago anywhere. The cladding he is similar to what was on the Grenfell | :02:31. | :02:33.
Tower, and the council says that, along with other fire safety | :02:34. | :02:37.
factors, meant four of the blocks were not safe. Unprecedented | :02:38. | :02:43.
situation, 4000 people in those blocks and the council staff and | :02:44. | :02:45.
volunteers have been working through the night and we have identified | :02:46. | :02:49.
hotel accommodation and temporary housing and we're working with other | :02:50. | :02:53.
boroughs and the people here are moving out slowly and we're having | :02:54. | :02:56.
those conversations, but of course people are tired and they have had a | :02:57. | :03:00.
terrible night. We want to get people into secure accommodation as | :03:01. | :03:05.
quickly as possible. The Grenfell Tower fire has changed the | :03:06. | :03:08.
perception of the risk of fire in tower blocks. Urgent checks are | :03:09. | :03:11.
being carried out in 600 blocks nationwide. The government says | :03:12. | :03:17.
cladding on 27 blocks in 15 local authority areas has failed fire | :03:18. | :03:22.
safety checks. The government is working with those local authorities | :03:23. | :03:25.
affected by this issue to make sure that they are able to do what is | :03:26. | :03:28.
necessary on the ground, to reassure people about the safety of their | :03:29. | :03:34.
blocks. The drastic action taken by Camden Council has caused huge | :03:35. | :03:38.
disruption to thousands of people and with other buildings failing | :03:39. | :03:41.
fire safety checks, many more could face similar uncertainty. | :03:42. | :03:45.
The council says it will take four weeks to remove the cladding and | :03:46. | :03:50.
carry out other fire safety precautions and in the meantime the | :03:51. | :03:54.
people here just want to be back in their homes knowing they are safe. | :03:55. | :03:56.
Thanks for joining us. Our political correspondent | :03:57. | :03:59.
Mark Lobel is here. Mark - 27 high rise | :04:00. | :04:01.
buildings across the UK now known to be affected - | :04:02. | :04:04.
it could be many more. It is a growing problem. The | :04:05. | :04:13.
question is, who is going to pay for this problem? With 26 others on top | :04:14. | :04:18.
of Camden, you can see how expensive Camden is all woody looking, not | :04:19. | :04:21.
just rehousing, but if people stay inside the tower blocks -- is | :04:22. | :04:26.
already looking. And paying for the fix itself for some the government | :04:27. | :04:30.
says it will help those local authorities and housing associations | :04:31. | :04:33.
that need financial help. But if you look at their situation, they have | :04:34. | :04:38.
had severe budget cuts in real terms, and we know housing is scarce | :04:39. | :04:46.
and four -- for emergency services that has been also cut and the | :04:47. | :04:49.
government said they will help on a case-by-case basis. There is a | :04:50. | :04:52.
political risk if you look at dealing with the relief effort of | :04:53. | :04:57.
the kind that Grenfell Tower was, the government not coping with the | :04:58. | :05:00.
demand themselves, then it might not go as well as it could and that | :05:01. | :05:03.
could backfire very badly on the government. Thanks for that. | :05:04. | :05:08.

A huge rescue operation is under way in south-west China where more | :05:35. | :05:39.
than a hundred people are feared to have been buried by a landslide. | :05:40. | :05:42.
The search is taking place in a mountainous area | :05:43. | :05:44.

Holly Hamilton is at the BBC Sport Centre. | :07:54. | :07:58.
It was always going to be a mammoth task and despite some sparkling | :07:59. | :08:02.
moments from the British and Irish Lions - they couldn't | :08:03. | :08:05.
quite edge ahead of the All Blacks at any point of the game | :08:06. | :08:08.
continuing their 23-year unbeaten run at Eden Park. | :08:09. | :08:13.
Our Sports Correspondent Katie Gornall was there | :08:14. | :08:15.
They are routine carrying the hopes of four nations on their shoulders, | :08:16. | :08:26.
the Lions might be guests in New Zealand but they don't intend to | :08:27. | :08:30.
leave empty-handed -- they are a team carrying. Recent results have | :08:31. | :08:33.
given these fans genuine hope but no one thinks it is going to be easy, | :08:34. | :08:37.
and many will remember the 2005 series in New Zealand, a whitewash | :08:38. | :08:43.
the Lions would rather forget. Once again this was a tale of underdogs, | :08:44. | :08:47.
unfancied by almost everyone at the start of the tour, taking on a | :08:48. | :08:52.
fearsome machine. He'll blacks just don't do defeat. The Lions made a | :08:53. | :08:57.
fresh start but they face danger from every angle, a forward on the | :08:58. | :09:01.
wing could well, this is New Zealand and this is total rugby. Time for | :09:02. | :09:06.
the Lions to regrow, they stood firm and wriggled from the all Blacks | :09:07. | :09:10.
grasp, Liam Williams was too fast and too good, justifying his | :09:11. | :09:14.
surprise selection. One of the great Lions test tries finished by Sean | :09:15. | :09:21.
O'Brien but created by many. 13-8 at half-time, Warren Gatland called on | :09:22. | :09:25.
high-profile replacements but New Zealand ran through the tourists | :09:26. | :09:29.
defence as few sides can, the Lions forced to add my New Zealand's best | :09:30. | :09:33.
at their best. Mistakes were creeping in. Digby Ioane was going | :09:34. | :09:43.
forward. He was not even born the last time New Zealand lost at Eden | :09:44. | :09:50.
Park. These things are fixable, the doe New Zealand did not play | :09:51. | :09:55.
champagne rugby, they were very direct and we have got to be better | :09:56. | :09:58.
in those areas in terms of combating. They are down, but not | :09:59. | :10:03.
at, and although right now rugby union's North-South divide seems | :10:04. | :10:05.
bigger than ever. -- but not out. Scotland and Ireland have wrapped | :10:06. | :10:10.
up their summer tours - Gregor Townsend suffered his first | :10:11. | :10:12.
defeat in charge of Scotland But Ireland completed a series | :10:13. | :10:15.
whitewash over Japan England are struggling | :10:16. | :10:18.
in the opening match They put India into bat | :10:19. | :10:36.
in Derby this morning, but their bowlers have failed | :10:37. | :10:39.
to make much impact. Simriti Mandhana made | :10:40. | :10:42.
a great start at the top of the order with 90 - | :10:43. | :10:44.
and her fellow-opener Punam Raut Mandhana was eventually caught | :10:45. | :10:47.
by Danielle Hazell off the bowling That wicket has done little to slow | :10:48. | :10:51.
