The National Museum of Wales is being forced to make...

It doesn't want to impact on theday-to-day running of the museums...

..and there are seven of those...

..from St Fagan's and the National Museum in Cardiff...

..to the Slate Museum in Llanberis.

35 jobs will disappear...

..but the changes will affect 160 members of staff...

..which is a quarter of the entire workforce.

The announcement was made at 2pm this afternoon...

..and staff meetings have been taking place throughout the day.

They hope to avoid compulsory redundancies...

..but the museum has acknowledged that it must save money.

Coal, slate, wool and Welsh life - the National Museum of Wales has

sites dedicated to all these things. There's even one on the Romans.

More than 1.5 million people vilz Ted last year and not one of them

had to pay. But money is the problem. The museum will have to

save �2 million over the next three years, which means job losses.

There will be a three-month consultation period. The biggest

changes will be seen in education and research. Many people don't

realise how much work goes on behind the scenes. We have got to

be very care thafl we don't lose our heritage and take it for

granted. They are not just there for tourism reasons. Voluntary

redundancies are possible, as is early retirement or a change in

terms and conditions. I think we have been lucky in Wales during the

financial crisis because it hasn't really directly affected us until

this point. But now we are starting to see these cuts in the public

sector and it is going to be very serious. The museum says

maintaining its high standards is the priority, as is redeveloping St

Fagan's. But the plans have angered some historians. What have the

unions said tonight? Prospect say they are very disappointed with

this news. The civil servants union, which represents almost 300 members

of staff, says it is worried because the management have said

they want to avoid compulsory redundancies. The unions say it

will be very difficult for these cuts to be made without affecting

services. They have previously objected to UK Government cuts in

public funding. What is the time table? There will be a three-month

consultation period. The National Museum of Wales has emphasised that

there will be no final decisions made until that period is over.

veered off the road. Fortunately, none of the children were seriously

get here, but the grandmother, who has a visual impairment, says

preparation is the key. When you live in a rural area, you always

prepare for bad weather. I have never been caught out. They are

expecting snow tomorrow afternoon. Up the road in the Brecon Beacons,

farmer Ieuan Morgan is keeping an eye on his animals and he's worried

that more snow could significantly increase his costs. It is going to

be a very expensive winter. The price of lambs has fallen and our

costs are going to be far higher. From farm animals to domestic

animals, they all need extra care in this weather, according to this

vet in Merthyr. When you have taken the animals out for a walk, if

there is grit on the road, it can be very uncomfortable for dogs in

particular. It can cause irritations. Councils are already

preparing for the possibility of more snow and some schools have

already said they'll be closed There are calls for the Wales

The Cywain Centre opened in May 2008. The aim of the venture was to

celebrate rural life but the centre closed its doors three years later.

Antur Penllyn ran the centre, but they failed to find a suetdable

organisation to take over. The lease and the assets have been

transferred to the Rhiwlas Estate. There was a mixed reaction to the

news in Bala. It is a loss to the town because I used to take the

children there during the summer holidays. It is outside the town,

so it is difficult to get to. don't think it will be a great loss.

I thought it was a good idea to begin with. But they didn't hold

enough events there. This kind of thing doesn't give the

town a good image. It takes some vibrancy away from the place.

chair of the Assembly's Public Accounts Committee has called for

an inquiry. I have asked the Audit Office to look into this. The Arts

Council contributed �200,000 towards the art work and the

council say they have an agreement with the land owners, which means

the public will still be able to view the art on display. It seems

that at least 37 foreigners were killed. A 59-year-old man from Fife

in Scotland was among those who died. The police came last night

and they confirmed he had been executed. The Prime Minister of

Algeria said seven people are still missing. 29 Islamic militants were

killed. Among the hostages who managed to survive was a man from

North Wales. He escaped on board one of the buses, which were

targeted by the rebels. They witnessed some terrible scenes.

Today it was confirmed that another man from Wales is alive and well.

According to an expert in the field, they are very fortunate. I have

been in Kuwait and Siberia and these gas facilities can be

enormous. It is very difficult to keep everyone safe. One of the

important questions is how you travel to the site. And then site

security. It can be a very dangerous job. In Parliament David

Although the site is already for sale, there is a glimmer of hope

for the 350 workers. They are hoping to convince Asda to keep

buying lamb from the site. And it's understood there is interest in the

site. There is some interest, but that takes time. Asda's decision

has been a significant blow to the company. But are they confident

Asda will reconsider? We will have to wait and see. We are still in

talks. More than 600,000 lambs are processed at the slaurt house every

year, making it an important market for local farmers. Closing the site

would be a big blow to Anglesey. Asda have put us in a very

difficult position. They decided to end the contract. There have been

talks of protests, but the talks are ongoing. Asda say cancelling

their order with Welsh Country Foods was a difficult decision, but

that changes in demand had forced their hand.

end, but it took six months in all. At the start of the process, I

thought it would take one or two months. The Welsh Conservatives

want to reform investment Wales and the message was clear today.

the Investment Wales scheme, small businesses will be able to borrow

grow, which in turn will boost the economy. The politicians say this

The Welsh regions have less money than all the other teams in Europe,

which makes it unrealistic to expect success in competitions like

the Heineken Cup. That's according to Jonathan Humphreys, after his

team finished their European campaign with a loss in Italy.

Although the Blues secured their first victory in the Heineken Cup

on Saturday, the Scarlets lost every one of their games.

competition has been a big disappointment for Welsh rugby fans.

In the past, the national team has been able to perform, despite poor

performances in Europe. individuals, it is going to knock

your confidence, but the red shirt counts for a lot. Being part of the

Welsh set up will give them a boost. The Welsh team started its journey

to a Grand Slam in 2012 with a win over Ireland. The two sides will

meet again in two weeks' time in the opening game of the Six Nations.

The Welsh players will have to forget their regional form,

according to a man who has fond memories of that game a year ago.
